Chapter Thirteen

Christian's cage was to the right of Robbie, and Lyn's to the left. Lyn looked over at Robbie, then to the ground rushing by outside the floor of her cage. She picked up a rock and threw it at him. "Ow! The heck was that for?!"

"I don't like you. Also, you led an army of bandits straight to my house, and now we're going to be eaten by a zombie at dawn."
"She's right, you know." Christian threw a rock at Robbie too.

Robbie picked up the rocks and threw them back, hitting Christian and Lyn. He sat down, but he noticed something. The lock was covered in rust! "Hey Lyn! I led them to you on purpose. When they throw you to the zombie, they'll let me go! I was a scout the whole time." He allowed a smug smirk to appear on his face. Lyn yelled in rage and whipped the rock at his head, but he was counting on that. He caught it, and shattered the lock. He kept a piece of the metal with him. "Thanks!"

Robbie opened his cage door, making sure that it didn't squeak, and he grabbed the guard who was on the horse that was pulling his cage and threw him under. He was trampled quickly and silently. Quickly, he spun around and threw his rock at Christian's guard's head, crushing the poor bandit's skull. He then leaped from his horse to the one pulling Lyn along, and with the small metal shard from his broken lock, stabbed her guard in the neck. Frantically, Robbie worked to unlock the cages on Lyn and Christian's horses. After he picked the locks, he told them to get on their horses and unhook the cages. By the time anyone noticed that they were gone, they were thousands of blocks away.

"Not bad, kid. The improvised weaponry was a bit gruesome, but what are you going to do?"

"You trust him?! He led bandits straight to us!"

"Well, obviously he has no love for them. He just killed three of them to save us."

Lyn sighed. "Good point. Fine, I'll ride with him...but I still don't trust him."
