Rebecca couldn't hear a thing besides the music blaring in her ears as she jogged down the road, seemingly alone; she never usually did these things alone but there was no one else to go with her lately.

It had been a week since Caroline and Nick's wedding and without Caroline here, she was forced to jog alone even though it was against the family rules. No one was supposed to go anywhere alone, that never ended well.

She knew she should've stayed home but she didn't want to constantly live in fear. It had been so many months since Michael had stabbed her and it had been months since he died. She was relatively safe…or so she thought.

Rebecca had no idea that someone else was jogging right behind her and was slowly inching his way closer to her. The man approaching her was smiling to himself as he watched her reach her resting spot. He hid behind the nearby trees as she set on one of the benches to rest her feet.

He waited for the moment that had always come, she would get up and stretch her legs out with her back to where he was standing.

Rebecca's ipod suddenly shut off and she rolled her eyes because she remembered that Stefan had told her he had forgotten to charge it yesterday; she figured it was time to go home so she got up and started to stretch. The hairs on the back of her neck rose and she heard something that sounded like a pocket knife whipping open. A cold chill ran down her spine as she heard leaves and branches snapping as if someone was charging toward her.

As quick as she could, she started running down the trail. She was two miles from home and she knew she didn't have a chance in hell in outrunning whoever was behind her, but she wasn't going down without a fight, she'd done that before and she swore to herself that would never happen again. She had pepper spray in her pocket and she was trying to get it but the speed she was running at was making that harder than it should have.

She chanced a glance behind and saw that no one was behind her and she couldn't hear any footfalls near so she slowed to a stop. Had she imagined all of that? She laughed to herself slightly as she tried to catch her breath, she felt like an idiot for being scared over nothing and began to slowly walk home but felt hands grab her from behind and all that could be heard was a deafening scream.

Caroline sat up slowly and rubbed her eyes, the sun was high in the sky and she smiled as she heard the shower running and wrapped the sheet around her. The past week had been heaven for them.

Nick still hadn't taken notice of the bruise on her side; it was still tender but she was thankful that it was starting to fade. The memory of Mason's face standing above her was something that had plagued her every night in her dreams but she couldn't exactly tell him that without ruining their entire honeymoon and she sure as hell didn't want that.

Pushing the bathroom door open a bit wider, she smiled, "Morning."

"More like afternoon…Sleep well?" Nick said with a smile as he was climbing out of the shower while reaching for a towel.

She nodded, "Yep. Did you?"

He laughed, "Obviously…You're overdressed you know."

Caroline laughed and looked down at herself then looked over to him, "I'm wearing a very thin sheet, you're the one in the thick towel so you're the one overdressed, not me."

Nick smiled and let the towel drop, "Like I said, you're very overdressed, my love."

Being stubborn, she kept the sheet around her and refused to glance down his body, she liked to play with him like this and he noticed that she'd been doing it the whole time they were here and he couldn't really complain.

"You gonna make me chase you?"

She put a finger to her chin and pretended to think really hard on it, "Hmm…Maybe." She whispered before turned and running to the bed, she laughed when she felt him grab her from behind and pull the sheet away.

His one mistake was wrapping both arms around her waist and lifting her, "Ow!" She exclaimed as she felt him push onto her bruise. His grip loosened immediately, "Sorry, did I hurt you?"

"Its fine. No big deal." She said, forcing a smile as she felt the bruise throbbing. "Honestly, I'm fine. I think you just pinched my fat." She forced a laugh to play it off but it was too late, he had seen the bruise…

She bit her lip and sighed, "Ya know…you're kinda naked…and I'm kinda naked…so we should be doing something right now…"

Caroline waited a good minute before he went to one of their suitcases and put a pair of pants on and looked at her, "What's that?"

Groaning internally, she reached down and wrapped herself in the sheet again, "What's what?"

"That bruise on your side. I know I didn't give it to you."

"Um…Let me get dressed first." She said before grabbing her bag and bolting for the bathroom, Mason's warning had once again sounded in her head. She couldn't tell him…Mason would kill him…

"Stop screaming and I won't hurt you." Rebecca heard the whispering in her ear and she forced her mouth closed because the man was now holding a knife to her throat. "No one can hear you anyways."

"What do you want?" She cried out, she should've fucking listened to the family and not gone out here alone.

"I just want an address." He laughed at her and pressed the knife closer to her neck, "Remember me?"

"Mason?" She whispered in fright, "You're the bastard that took Katherine and shot Caroline."

His grip on her waist tightened, "Hurting Caroline was an accident. Now…where is she?"

"I'm not fucking telling you!" She shouted at him, her anger for him was immense and this was her one chance to let it out. He along with her father destroyed their family so she had the right to blow up on him; even if that got her killed.

He pressed the knife to her neck and she felt it slice into her slightly, she squeezed her eyes shut tight, "I want to know where she is. If you don't tell me, I'll make sure Stefan gets killed on his next night at work. Crazy people with guns sure hate cops."

"Please don't hurt him!" She sobbed, she knew what he was capable of and couldn't bear the thought of any harm coming to Stefan.

"I won't; as long as you tell me where Caroline is. You're her sister in law, you must know that information."

She prayed that Caroline and Nick would understand, she prayed even harder that he wouldn't play her and kill her and Stefan then go after Caroline and Nick, "They went to Hawaii. That's all I know, I swear. Please don't hurt Stefan, please."

He smiled to himself, "Fine. I won't hurt him…" he said as he lowered the knife and put it in his pocket, "At least…not today." Before she could say anything, he hit her over the head and let her fall to the ground.

He huffed a bit and looked down at her unconscious body, "I really should kill you right now just for betraying Caroline…But it's no fun if no one is here to watch…See you later, Becky." He laughed before walking away and leaving her there on the side of the road.

"You've hid in there long enough, Caroline! Who gave you the damn bruise?" Nick shouted through the door after waiting for her to come out for ten minutes.

With a heavy sigh, she swung the door open and wiped her tears, "I can't tell you!"

"What do you mean you can't tell me? Someone gave you a bloody bruise on your waist, I think I have the right to know who did it!"

Caroline ran her hands through her hair and took a deep breath, "I would tell you, but I can't!"

"Why the hell not!?" He shouted in exasperation, his mind jumping to the worst conclusion, "Did…Did you cheat on me or something?"

"God no! I love you and wouldn't do that to you!"

For a moment, he breathed a sigh of relief then started again, "Then what is it?!"

She knew she couldn't hide it, she was stupid to think she could. She was going to lose his trust if she hid it from him, they had survived before and they could again…Her mother had died…yes…but Nick was the one who had survived both Mason and Michael and that was what mattered now…he could survive again.

Tears clouded her eyes and ran down her face, "He came back. He's back and he grabbed me the night before the wedding. It was worse and I hid it…He was at the wedding…He was there the day after you proposed…He was always there, just watching." She sobbed, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders as she told him everything she had been dying to for months.

Nick could've sworn he had gotten punched in the stomach "Why didn't you tell me? Has he hurt you before this?" He asked, surprisingly calm, as he rested both his hands on either side of her face.

She leaned into his touch and shook her head, "No…Just scared us…"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Squeezing her eyes shut, causing more tears to leak down her cheeks, she whispered brokenly, "He told me at the wedding that if I said anything about seeing him there or seeing him the night before, you wouldn't live to see our anniversary."

He sighed and his previous anger with her completely dissipated, he wrapped his arms around her and held her, "He's not going to hurt me, I'm going to be fine, I promise you that, okay?"

She nodded slowly, she wasn't sure that he was telling the truth but she prayed he was right…She couldn't bear the thought of someone else being hurt because of her…
