Chapter 6: Survival Books and Radio Stations!
It was yet another wonderful day in the lovely Capital Wasteland. Well wonderful and lovely if you were alive. Which for one trio seemed would not be the case much longer.
There was a loud explosion, followed by shots from a .308 caliber sniper rifle, in a delightful little town called Minefield. Alice jumped to the side just as another explosion went off. Ferna cursed Moira Brown and her stupid book, as she barely dodged another gun shot.
Alice frowned as she and Ferna moved behind some already exploded cars. They had made the mistake of hiding behind a car that wasn't already burned out once. Alice heard her least favorite sound in the world. "Beep Beep Beep" she jumped back along with Ferna as a mailbox near them exploded!
The two dived into a bus. "I am beginning to think Cheshire had the right idea about sitting this one out," Alice said with a frustrated sigh. "Remind me again why we are here…" She looked to Ferna for an answer.
"The book… I really hadn't expected there to be a sniper here… Otherwise it wouldn't have been that bad," Ferna said in reply.
"Really the worst part is we are out of range of Three dog's station. We can only pick up distress signals and that stupid annoying propaganda station. GNR is by far the better station, even with its limited selection," Alice said sounding as if this was worse than a sniper and exploding mines.
Ferna nodded her head. "Ok new plan after this we go straight there… I swear no deviations from the plan!" Alice gave a shake of her head.
"Well at least one thing is correct. You weren't lying when you said it would be a blast." Said a rather familiar voice followed by a distinctive chuckle.
"Cheshire?" Alice asked in confusion.
"Yessss… Alice." The cat replied.
"Why are you here? I thought you said you would sit this one out." Ferna asked with a serious frown.
"I am sitting this one out. Hence the reason I am literally sitting down. I just thought I would get a better view from here," He said with nonchalance.
Ferna was about to say something, but Alice cut her off. "Best not question him Ferna." Ferna sighed as the cat chuckled once again.
"So any ideas?" Ferna asked her two companions even if one was staying out of this quest.
"Try not to die," Cheshire said in his usual helpful manner much to his amusement, and the girls' annoyance.
"I saw there was a house not boarded up a few meters ahead of us. Maybe we can get inside and exit through the back and sneak up on him?" Alice replied, offering up much more helpful advice.
Ferna nodded to this. "Ok… So run straight there and be ready to disarm any mines on the way we can? I am damn sure they will trade well." Alice nodded to Ferna.
{-} {-} {-}
An old balding man was searching the area with his sniper rifle. He thought he might have lost sight of the two interlopers below. He hated it when people approached at dusk. It was the smart thing to do, but Arkansas hated smart people. They made things difficult.
Give him a raider high on Jet or Psycho any day to someone with half a brain. It was even worse because there were two of them in front of him. He knew he lucked out when they didn't automatically split up.
He made good use of this lucky break by keeping them corralled and right in the middle of his massive trap area. Unfortunately, the two were also rather nimble and knew how to disarm his mines. He was burning through ammo faster than ever to keep them from clearing the path up to him.
He shot once again when he saw a small bit of red hair. He missed Red though. He was about to shoot at the other one, but darkie had her minigun out and was providing cover fire as she strafed left. Arkansas had to duck down as a result.
He cursed when the cover fire stopped, and he popped back up to not see any sign of the intruders. He panned the area with his scope for a few minutes before deciding to toss out a few more mines as an extra precaution.
{-} {-} {-}
Alice and Ferna were both breathing heavily just on the other side of the door to the house the wanted. Ferna then let out a long sigh as she handed over half of the mines she disarmed and picked up. This was their agreement. Alice would provide cover fire, while Ferna focused on the mines.
"That worked out better than I thought it would." Ferna gave a smile to Alice.
"Now we just need to find the back way out of here…. Then I will give this sniper a taste of one of my jackbombs. Let's see how he likes explosives then!" Alice said as she gave a wicked smile. Ferna was once again glad Alice was on her side after seeing that smile.
The two wasteland explorers started to make their way through the house to the back yard. They were very through in their examination of the house. After all they needed to make sure there weren't any upstairs balconies. They also needed to make sure there was in fact a basement to the property. It was merely fortune they found lots of supplies and ammo while doing this, or so they claim.
After Ferna had indeed made sure the locked chest was not a portal to some mysterious world by unlocking it, she took out the assault rifle and tossed it to Alice. The red head also took the fat stacks of old world money as well. She still didn't get why it sold so well, but she wasn't one to look a gifted horse in the mouth.
"Looks like this is the only exit into the back. We should be careful now," Ferna said to Alice as they opened the door.
It was odd how much quieter it was without multiple explosions and gun shots. Alice and Ferna took a minuet to breathe in the fresh irradiated air. After subsequently coughing a little bit, the two slowly started to sneak their way to where the shooter was.
{-} {-} {-}
Arkansas was now getting really pissed. He was an old man. By all rights he shouldn't be up past 8pm. It was all the fault of those damn interlopers. He was tempted to just say to hell with it all and go to sleep, but that would make it too easy on these trespassers.
"Damn women can't even give an old man a break," he said aloud to no one. He started to curse everything he could think of. It was now 8:15pm. He was getting really cranky.
Ferna and Alice were as quiet as they could be. They finally approached the old man's sniper nest, but paused to listen to his ramblings.
"Ruffian fucking kids. They need to learn their place! Stupid kids should either just die, or make me some apple fritters!" The old man then sighed in contentment as he dreamed about applely goodness. "Yes sirree, good old apple fritters! They should give me a bottle of jack as well on top of things!"
Ferna blinked to hearing his words. She looked to Alice who seemed to be just as equally intrigued by the elderly man's ramblings.
"Stupid DOW always going down! I don't even know what the heck a DOW is…" Arkansas said. He then grumbled something the girls couldn't understand. "Sierra! Now that there was a model woman. She knew all about those fancy mathematical things, and she knew how to cook a damn fine Apple Fritter."
Ferna had to stifle a giggle. The man clearly had been out here on his own for far too long. She was once again thankful to have Alice and even Cheshire on her trip. However, she liked the name Sierra. It was a name she would use for a mighty fine gun of hers or something.
"Goddamn raiders coming here and stealing all of that flour! And then they just crushed the precious apples! I curse them all because of that!" Arkansas said in his madness. He then paused in thought.
Once his thought was completed he started to babble again. "Why the hell can't I find a good top hat either? Stupid damn fracking Wasteland! I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was 'experimenting with jet' in this here golden city. Then there are those trees! I swear they are out to get me!"
Ferna was now confused. His ramblings were entertaining, but now she didn't understand them. She looked to Alice, who nodded. Ferna then pulled out her Laser pistol and held it aimed at Arkansas. She then stood up and said, "Alright old man! You clearly have been up too long now. Let me put you out of your misery!"
The old man pointed his sniper rifle at the girl he called Red and spoke. "My misery?! I just want a damn Apple Fritter! Let me put you out of your misery!" The two stared at each other not either firing, or budging an inch.
Alice then carefully took the other set of steps until she was a level below Arkansas, but in just the right position to use her Jackbomb on him. She pulled one out and pressed a button before then throwing it at the aged man.
The box landed right behind the old man and started playing that familiar tune. The old man raised his eyebrows and asked, "What in the Sam Hill is that music?" Then the tune ended and the bomb exploded sending him into the air a good fifteen feet before he crashed down right in front of Ferna who shot her laser pistol at him for good measure. You could never be sure about these Wasteland people.
Once Arkansas disintegrated into a pile of ash the two girls' finally let out a breath of relief.
"Well that was different from how I thought this little standoff would end." Alice said with a smile.
Ferna gave a laugh as she immediately started to loot the body. Alice used her personal method of lock picking on a couple of boxes, and was rewarded with her favorite type of ammo! Sarah would be pleased, she just knew it. She also got lots of caps, and a few missiles, and another one of those mini nukes.
Alice looked around carefully before then "storing" the mini nuke. She really had to find the weapon that used them now for sure. Not even Ferna would stop her. Hell after all of this stupid Wasteland Survival Guide business Alice figured a weapon that used mini nukes was a fair trade.
Ferna meanwhile acquired herself a new sniper rifle, some mines, and grenades. She also scored some booze to add to her collection for experimental purposes. The red head was a little disappointed the old man didn't have a drink recipe on him for her and Alice to try though.
Alice finished looking through a different box she picked open by using a crowbar to bash the lock and said, "Would you look at that!"
"What?" Ferna asked eloquently. It really was a very eloquent "What?" actually. Many politicians would be jealous of this simple word that came from Ferna's mouth.
"The old loon had a stash of Apple Fritters." Alice then held up two for Ferna to see.
"We should partake in these delicacies. You know in memoriam of all this old man did in his life," Ferna said in full sincerity. Thought truth be told she was kind of hungry for something sweet.
"It seems most appropriate my dear Ferna!" Alice said in her version of some uppity high class woman. The dark haired beauty then passed one to Ferna, and tossed one at an empty corner. Cheshire appeared in said corner just in time. Alice then took one for herself.
Ferna's eyes shown in inspiration as she grabbed a few different alcoholic bottles and quickly made up something that she knew would go good with the Apple fritters. She called it the Everlasting Martini. Alice didn't see what she used to mix it up though.
The two then turned on their radios, and were happy to hear that since it was night they could barely make out GNR's signal. The three then raised their apple fritters and took a bite together.
They were each surprised that the many years in that box seemed to have done well by the treat. Alice and Ferna then toasted their glasses and smiled at the full moon above them.
After a few songs, the group heard Three Dog speak. "Hellooo Wasteland! This is your favorite DJ Threeeeee Doggggggg! Though honestly I'm the only DJ in the Capital Wasteland… Anyways! News time Children!"
There was a brief pause before he spoke again. "It seems that the bomb in Megaton was Deep Sixed for good thanks to that crazy cat from vault 101! Thank you 101! Come and visit me! Old three Dog as a toaster that's on the fritz!"
Ferna rolled her eyes as Alice giggled.
"And now children, I have a story to tell you. This is the story about a little boy. A little boy named Bryan Wilks." Ferna and Alice were a little curious as to where this would go.
"You see Bryan lived in a little town called Greyditch. This town was recently over run by a group of really angry fire breathing giant ants. Yes kids, you heard me right fire fucking breathing ants…" Alice and Ferna both couldn't help but give a giggle for some reason.
"Anyways this here is where 101 and her… friend and companion… stepped in. Sorry folks but I haven't come up with a snappy nick name for her companion yet. Anyways…. The two girls went and managed to take care of the little ant problem… Well little according to the scientist responsible for giving them fire breath at least. Freaking moron if you ask me." Cheshire gave a chuckle. He was liking this Three Dog guy.
"They took care of the bug problem, and this is where Bryan's story gets… frankly… sensible… You see the girls took care of the ant problem, buuuuttt they didn't help the kid find a new home really. Instead they told him to walk a couple of miles to Megaton." Three Dog then took in a deep breath.
"The one thing I, the almighty Three Dog, Bow wow wow wow, have to ask is this. Why the hell didn't the kid go there in the first place after he didn't see any adults for who knows how many days." The trio then let out loud laughs as Ferna and Alice toasted to the DJ's words.
"Rumor has it he's become quite the reliable repair man for the water treatment plant there, and he is actually now happier than he was before! Good show 101 and…. Friend… You two told the kid to grow up and he realized what an annoying kid he was and did just that. Here's to you ladies. May many more prosper as you do your thing... even if it doesn't really make sense at times."
Alice and Ferna cheered and toasted to that as well. They were glad the only glasses Ferna could find were decent sized water glasses. The two enjoyed the rest of their night.
Just before they called it a night and went to bed Cheshire asked a simple question. "So what is the next plan?"
"Well tomorrow after we have rested up we will go back to Megaton. After that, we head to GNR. I will give him those holotapes we found, and make sure his radio station can always be heard all over the Wasteland. Once again I'm super serious about my goal too. I can get sidetracked after we make sure the best radio station can be heard everywhere!" Ferna said with her blue eyes glowing in determination.
She would not let something like radio interference for her favorite station lessen the enjoyability of looting every house and building you come across, even if you are supposed to be looking for your dad.
Alice and Cheshire both gave her a smile to this. They weren't too upset with her easily distracted habits, but it did get to them because they had no good music to listen to while going everywhere. They also knew when Ferna had her mind set on something she did it.
"That sounds wonderful!" Alice said. "I can't wait to see Three Dog's face when we come to his station, and give him a huge amount of new music to play on his radio station." Alice was eager to hand over One and a Half Cookie's holotapes to the DJ.
The two girls looked at each other for a few seconds as thoughts ran through their heads. The atmosphere grew a little thicker when the radio station played 'I Don't Want to set the World on Fire' by the Ink Spots.
Alice looked at Ferna with a mix of lust and eagerness. Ferna looked into Alice's beautiful green eyes with the same feelings. Before Ferna knew what was happening, she felt Alice's soft pink lips on her own.
Ferna eagerly returned the kiss. She knew some might disapprove of her love for Alice, but if they had been through all the two of them had they might not be so quick to judge. Also they weren't rubbing it in other's faces.
Alice was pleased and relieved that Ferna returned the kiss. She knew it was a bit of a risk, and sudden… But after almost dying she wasn't going to die without taking the chance at least. She would have withdrawn if Ferna hadn't approved of her actions.
Alice was smart so she knew Ferna really cared for her, just as the dark haired girl cared for the lovely red haired girl. She just wasn't sure if it was too soon. This would change things in a way she knew, but it didn't matter right now.
Ferna's blue eyes met Alice's green eyes. The two said nothing as they each slowly undressed for the night. Neither girl cared at the moment if it was simply a means of blowing off steam, or if it was something else. That was something they could figure out later if needed.
All that matter to the girls was that they were alive and with each other. They weren't alone. They were with someone that cared about them to some degree at least. After almost dying, they both mutually agreed they needed to make the best of the life they were blessed with.
Alice was going to give herself willingly to someone for the first time. Ferna was going to be with someone for real for the first time. She had experimented before… as she shared with Alice, but this time it wasn't out of curiosity alone.
The two smile at each other as they put two mattresses together and started to softly caress the other. Cheshire rolled his eyes, but smiled. "About time they at least get this out of their system if it doesn't become something more." The cat thought to himself before disappearing to a safe distance.
{-} {-} {-}
Ferna woke up with a goofy grin on her face. She had done it! She had sex with Alice! It may have been fueled by the uncertainty of what would come in the future and in the heat of the moment. However, she had satisfied Alice! That was all that mattered, and the lovely dark haired beauty tasted just as wonderful as Ferna thought she would.
Ferna kept smiling as she turned to look at her beautiful goddess. Ferna lightly traced Alice's smooth curves and smooth skin. She stared at Alice's body. Ferna liked how Alice actually had some hair on her lovely and most important sexual part. It was tamed just like her own.
Ferna still wondered why it was people used to want girls to shave down there. She didn't get it. She thought it was both natural and beautiful for a girl to have hair down there. Also she decdied if a guy wanted a girl to shave there, than he should shave as well.
The red head shook her head. She was next to a beautiful, and wonderful girl. Why was she thinking about such details…? "Really… I sometimes wonder what is wrong with my mind…" Ferna thought to herself. She finally got over the stupid detail and just enjoyed the wonderful sight of a naked and pleased Alice on the same bed.
Ferna then heard a beautiful sigh as her favorite green eyes opened and looked at her. "You know Ferna…" Alice started with a coy smile. "Some might be offended by your ogling…"
Ferna blushed and turned away. She then heard a lovely laugh. "Sorry Ferna… I don't mind you looking at me all you want, so long as it doesn't get you killed."
Ferna gave a cute pout and asked, "Then why are you teasing me so?"
Alice sat up and gave the red haired beauty a kiss on the cheek as she said softly, "I love the way you blush."
Ferna tried not to let it show how happy she was to hear those words. She eventually regained control of herself and said, "Well then we best make we both stay around so you can enjoy that sight again."
Alice smiled and gave a slight blush in happiness. The two beauties then stretched and got ready for their day. Everything was still as it should have been. Both Alice and Ferna were happy to see where their adventures took them as they continued.
{-} {-} {-}
Alice and Ferna finally made their way back to Megaton. They had only come across the occasional small raider group and packs of mole rats. They also managed to dodge Bryan on their way to Crater Side Supply.
After trading with Moira Brown, Ferna reported her findings on Minefield. "Well it wasn't that bad until a crazy old man rambled on about Apple Fritters, shot at us with a sniper rifle."
"Huh…. Apple Fritters you say….?" Moira said in her ever cheerful voice. "I suppose you want your reward after subbing as a live target for the sniper." Ferna nodded her head enthusiastically.
"Well I can't think of a better way to reward you for dodging and disarming explosives than with…. More explosives!" Moira then gave Ferna a few frag grenades, much to the red head's pleasure. She also gave Ferna some schematics for making bottle cap mines.
"Well that completes chapter one of the Survival Guide!" Moira said happily. She then gave Ferna some stimpaks as payment. "Sooooo…. Are you up for helping with part two? If you aren't, is your friend here up to it?"
After the two looked over the contents of Chapter two, they were a little weary. However, before Ferna could say anything Alice spoke up. "I will take care of testing the mole rat repellent!" She then gave both Moira and Ferna a beautiful but smug smile.
"Fanntasticcc!" Moira said as she explained how the stick was supposed to work, and how to go about gathering Intel on the substance's efficiencies.
Ferna blinked to this for a few seconds. She was dumbfounded that Alice would want to keep going with this insane Survival Guide. The red head then gathered her thoughts, and said. "I will take this Observer Unit then." Ferna didn't like the idea of planting something right smack in the middle of a Mirelurk nest, but it had to be better than intentionally sustaining injuries that left her at least half dead. Also she did have a very beautiful companion to share the journey with her.
"Wonderful! You two dears are going to be famous, because of your work to help me. I just know it!" Moira said in her happy voice. Both Ferna and Alice had to admit they really did like her perky personality, and they wondered what other parts of her were perky.
Next the two girls decided they wanted to take a little rest in Ferna's house, Ferna yawned as she opened the door. She was really looking forward to an actual bed for once. As she walked inside, she noticed the place was feeling extra empty.
Alice walked in as well stretching her arms up and letting out a slow long breath. She then frowned and said, "It really is kind of depressing how empty this place is. But it survives its purpose I suppose."
Cheshire then appeared in front of them and added his two caps. "Still a little decoration would be nice."
Ferna then gave her living room a once over, and sighed. "I know what you two mean." She then was about to go and plop down on the bed when she remembered something. "Wait a minute!" Alice and Cheshire jumped a little at Ferna's sudden volume.
"Moira! She told me she had things for my house. Let's see if she can help out with this." Ferna said as she turned around and was about to leave the house when Alice spoke.
"Are you sure the lady who wondered if you could live without your spleen is certified for interior decorating?" Alice asked.
Ferna seemed lost in thought for a moment and then gave a nod. "Let's go and ask her anyways. If she is the one that does the decorating herself then we will just have to find another way to bring some life to this place." Both Alice and Cheshire agreed with this.
{-} {-} {-}
"Of course not silly Billy! Though I guess it would be Ferna in this case and not Billy…." Moira said before staring off in thought for a couple of seconds. "Ferna that really is a pretty name. Anyways, I simply get in contact with someone who is good at decorating and they do it."
Alice let out a breath in relief to that. She liked Moira, but didn't trust her with decorating a house. She wasn't about to let Ferna get a decorator that was more liking to rig up the bed to explode Nuka-Cola because she thought it would be the best way to get someone a refreshing drink.
Ferna felt just as relieved as Alice sounded. She had to ask though. "So who does it then?"
Moira smiled and said, "The right people and when I say people I really mean Maggie. That girl really does have a thing for house interiors… must be because of all the time she spends at her own home cleaning and such."
Moira then gave a stretch before sighing in relief and saying, "Anyways I have a few themes you can choose from. Feel free to ask me about any of them if you want."
Ferna looked over the list and was surprised to see there was a vault theme. She was even tempted to pick it, but she figured it would remind her too much of Vault 101. She looked at the others and blanched when she saw there was a raider theme.
While Ferna was busy looking at themes Alice decided to gift her friend with a "My First Infirmary" and a "Jukebox". She figured Ferna would like some music in her home. Plus she was now getting a little low on caps, so the workbench was out of the question.
"Alright I got it! I want the Pre-war theme." Ferna said. She would see how it worked out and maybe she would later get the Love machine theme depending on how things worked out with Alice.
"Feeling a little nostalgic?" Moira said before taking notes on the house theme and the two item deliveries. Ferna wasn't sure how she could be nostalgic if she had never experienced pre-war America, but she didn't say anything.
"Well I think I have everything down here. Now it usually takes some time to get a house set up, so you can keep up with that research! Or if you want… hang around in the bar for a couple of hours. It's up to you." Moira said as she gave them a big smile, and then asked if they needed anything else before she went to go and tinker with something at her shop workbench.
"Well the Bar sounds good to me what do you say Ferna?" Alice asked as they started to leave the shop.
Ferna gave nod. "I like how you're thinking there Alice. Besides we will have a long trek tomorrow to go and bring music to Wasteland after all. Might as well enjoy the rest of the day here."
Right when they exited the store they saw Bryan. "You two!" He shouted at them. Alice and Ferna both rolled their eyes at him as he ran up to them. "You two could have just brought me here you know! Especially after I heard you owned a house here."
Alice looked annoyed and said, "Sorry kid we kind of have a place to be right now."
Ferna nodded, "Yep. Need to visit the bar and all." The two girls then made their way to the bar. They hoped Bryan would just leave them alone but instead he followed them.
"Do you two do anything other than drink?" Bryan asked while following them.
"Jump away from exploding mailboxes." Alice said casually.
"Wander through freakishly clean old vaults run by crazed overseers that download their self into a super computer." Ferna added in stride.
"Avoid old snipers ranting about Apple Fritters. Causally walk right in to the middle of six raiders and kill them with a knife and playing cards." Alice said.
"Plunder grocery stores with turret guns on the ceiling, and deactivate still active nuclear bombs." Ferna said.
Bryan rolled his eyes at them. "You don't have to go and make things up geez…"
Ferna and Alice looked at each other nodded and then said together. "Also kill of a whole nest of Fire breathing ants."
"Surely you remember that." Alice concluded.
Ferna sighed, "I wish we were making things up but we aren't Bryan. Anyways why are you following us?"
Bryan just shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know." He then went off to go and repair another leaky pipe as he mutter, "What the heck is up with these leaky pipes? Is someone going around drilling holes in them or something?"
As the kid ran off they heard an old man shout, "Atom! Please bless us with your cleansing light!" The two wasteland explorers were glad to be heading to the bar where they wouldn't hear him. They had had enough of crazy old men ranting for a few days.
Once the door to the saloon opened, they heard a familiar gargling voice say, "Welcome to Gobs and Novas! What can I do for you?" Gob then turned around and gave them a ghoul smile. "Well if it isn't our partners in crime. Or maybe liberators would be best." He said.
"Just call them our number one honorary customers. Simms is a law man and he might still bother to question about what actually happened if you say that." Nova said. She was much better dressed than last time and not flaunting her assets as much.
They heard a scoff and a deep voice say, "I don't have any idea what you're talking about ma'am. Moriarty's death will forever be a mystery. Besides, so long as they don't cause any trouble we will be just fine." The sheriff was nursing a drink while enjoying the staticy music from the radio.
Ferna blinked a few times then checked her pip-boy for the time. "Wow… It really is already getting into early evening."
"One could say time flies when you aren't having to worry about exploding mines and gunshots. But I have it on very good authority that while you can kill time it most certainly does not fly." Alice said with a nod of her head.
No one really seemed to take notice of her odd phrase as the two took seats at the bar. Alice spoke again. "So Gobs and Novas. You weren't trying to make a possessive name for your bar were you two?"
"Nah… We don't really have an official name for the place yet. I wanted Bomb Side Bar, but it was too similar to Moira's shop's name." Gob said.
"Plus The Brass Lantern is closer to the bomb than we are. I wanted Super Nova, but…" Nova said as Gob interrupted her.
"I refuse to be just stepped on by a smoothskin again like that. Besides I'm the one that does the actual work. Nova here just 'owns' the place so traders won't turn away from here simply because a Ghoul owns the place." Gob said.
"It isn't like that Gob… You know it isn't. I just thought the name sounded catchy." Nova protested.
"She does have a point Gob." Ferna said with a nod.
Gob growled and then said, "Sure… it starts out that way, but soon enough she becomes a smoothskin asshole just like Moriarty."
Nova looked offended as she almost shouted, "I will not be like him!" The two started to bicker a little more as the patrons just shook their heads.
"Am I going to have to take you two down for disturbing the peace?" Simms said. The two stopped fighting and went about their business.
Alice figured this had been an ongoing situation here. She couldn't help but give a thoughtful sigh as she tried to think of a name they could both agree on. She was surprised when a notice popped up on her HUD saying "Good things…. Big Plans…" was active. It was a quest saying to find a way to help out the owners of Megaton's Saloon.
The dark haired girl was surprised this was a quest. She guessed there was more to it than just that, but she wasn't sure. She giggled at a silly name and threw it out there to see what they would say. "How about Pre-War's Gift?"
The others looked at her and Alice gave a hum and said, "No that sounds more like a drink name." Ferna nodded and added it to her list of drink names she had placed on her Pip-Boy.
After a couple more seconds, Alice spoke again. "I know. How about Nuclear Overlook Lounge? I mean the place is overlooking most of Megaton including the now defunct bomb."
"Hmmm…." Gob gave it a try in his mind. It was a little awkward, but Alice had given him a great naming idea. "How about just Nuclear Lounge or Nuclear Overlook? The name you gave was just a little too long for a bar name in my opinion."
Nova gave it some thought and said, "Nuclear Lounge sounds better. Nuclear Overlook makes me feel like I should be giving a tour of the crater."
Gob gave a nod. "Yah Nuclear Lounge. That sounds great! I can get the sign fixed up to read that as well. I have friends that can get us the letters." Nova was going to question him, but shook her head. She just knew it was a case of the less she knew the better.
Gob then gave Alice a nod in thanks. "By the way you and Ferna get discounted prices here. After all, I don't know what all you two did..." He gave them both a ghoul wink. "But I do know Nova and I owe you for getting us this bar. We're going to fix it up some, and make it a place people come to Megaton for!"
Alice gave a smile as did Ferna. Ferna than asked, "So got any specialty drinks?" Gob nodded and gave her and Alice a menu.
"I always did like the idea of bartending… I just wanted to actually make a living from it, rather than be more or less a slave." Gob said.
A few minutes later Alice and Ferna were drinking something called a Nuka Afterglow. The drink was simple, yet delicious, it was even healthy. The drink was a Nuka-Cola mixed with whiskey, a broken down rad-x pill and a squeeze of RadAway. Both girls enjoyed it.
{-} {-} {-}
It was now a couple of hours later and Ferna and Alice were finishing up their last drink. Ferna managed to get a few dink recipes out of Gob. Alice also noticed that her quest "Good Things… Big Plans…" was updated, and said to check back later with Gob. Alice knew there was more to the quest.
The two stopped at the Brass Lantern for some good old wasteland cooking and finally made their way to Ferna's Megaton house. They were surprised by the way it was setup.
"Wow! Maggie really knows her stuff!" Ferna said as she looked around.
The most noticeable thing was there was some good furniture in the center of the main room, and a nice rug on the floor. The room had two book shelves filled with both books and 200+ year old preserved goodness! Ferna even saw some apple fritters.
"This is so much nicer Ferna. I am glad you don't mind sharing your home with me." Alice said as she looked the place over. She then added, "Just add in some booze and a bar and you will be set." Ferna had to agree with it as she rolled around the pristine red racer tricycle a little.
"Yes this place will really be quite the home once that radio station is fixed with your jukebox in the corner." Cheshire even gave his approval of the place.
"Shall we see the upstairs?" Ferna asked as they made their way there.
Upstairs was nice as well. The extra room had a lovely sofa and an actual bed now. They also saw there were a few furniture items up here as well. They also saw the main bedroom had a nice sized double bed in it.
After looking around upstairs, they made their way back to the lower level. All three were surprised when they heard a sophisticated mechincal voice say, "Good evening mistress and friends. How are you this lovely night?"
"What the what?!" Ferna shouted before turning around and seeing a Mr. Handy floating near them.
"I am not sure how to answer that question mistress." The robot said. "Regardless, I am Wadsworth. Your ever helpful robotic assistant." The robot butler hovered over to them.
Alice looked the thing over in fascination. She then pulled out her knife and tapped the robot experimentally in a few places.
"I apologize for my late introduction ma'am, but it appears there was a slight problem with my programming originally. However, I don't think this warrants such a… prodding using a weapon from your esteemed guest of honor." The robot said.
Alice stopped tapping with her knife and blushed to the robot's words. "I am sorry sir… My curiosity and fascination simply better of me." Ferna didn't say it, but she liked it when Alice blushed.
"Quiet alright my lady. It is rather refreshing to meet someone well-mannered here. Though I still much prefer my mistress. My programming demands it." Wadsworth said.
"Speaking of which… you said there was a problem with your programming? Who took care of it?" Ferna asked.
"Why the lovely Miss Moira Brown." The robot answered. All three grimaced to this. "Never fear. She assures you that I will only blow up if you activate my self-destruct sequence with the press of the button."
The robot seemed to hoover uncomfortably for a few seconds before adding, "Though I much prefer to serve you and your guests while active. My programming tells me this is a much preferred situation for all parties."
Ferna and Alice nodded to this. The trio spent time getting to understand Wadsworth better, and enjoying each other's company the rest of the night before heading to their beds for the night.
{-} {-} {-}
The next day the trio left the house in Megaton in Wadsworth's capable robotic arms, and started their direct trip to GNR.
The first stop on their "direct" trip to the Glaxay News Radio station, was a mole rat nest. Alice was excited to try out her new mole rat repellent.
A couple of hours after first finding the nest, there was a loud *Thwack* sound shortly followed by an acrid smoke five seconds before a *Splat* sound. The splat sound was followed by a couple of giggles and a chuckle of approval.
Alice couldn't help but giggle again as a fifteenth headless mole rat body fell to the ground. "Stop… ha ha… giggling Alice…" Ferna giggled out herself. "It isn't that funny…hee-hee."
Alice gave a mock hurt look to Ferna as another angry mole rat started charging towards her. *Thwack*… *Splat*. "Oh come on Ferna you know it is. You were giggling like a mad woman when I tossed the 'repellent stick' to you last time." Ferna blushed to this.
"I still have to wonder why you decided Ferna needed a turn. This is a scientific quest after all." Said a deep voice dripping in amusement.
Alice tossed the repellent stick to Ferna again, and stepped back as the red head happily took her place. The dark haired girl then tossed out a clock work bomb, and immediately several mole rats started to make their way to investigate.
Ferna gave a wicked smile as Three Dog decided to play good out "Butcher Pete" again. Sure it was about a man going on a fuck fest with consenting adults, but still the song was fitting in a way to what she was doing.
The metal bunny exploded harmlessly once the mole rats were in range. Green eyes glowing with amusement then turned to meet yellow eyes. "Isn't it obvious Cat?" Alice quipped as Cheshire grinned.
*Thwack* more smoke billowed from near a smiling Ferna. *Splat*. The beautiful red head giggled again as the dark haired girl spoke.
"We need further experimentation from an alternate source to make sure our findings are correct, and not contaminated by something on my person." Alice gave her cat friend a broad smile.
Cheshire out right laughed. "Ahhh… I see now." He gave a grin. "I'm sure there are many coincidental reasons why one hit from that stick would cause a mole rat to smoke, and their head to explode."
*Thwack* *splat* *giggle*
"Exactly my friend." Alice said with a straight face. She then turned as she heard a hiss sound and then a louder splat. "That was different…" she remarked casually.
"I hit it three times quickly that time. It seems rapid infusion from an external source to the subject in question causes a more violent reaction from said subject." Ferna then pulled out a notepad from somewhere, and put on a thoughtful face as she scribbled her findings on the paper. Alice and Cheshire blinked at her.
"What?" Inquired Ferna.
"Oh... Nothing…" Cheshire said lazily.
"What he said." Replied Alice. They were a little surprised by Ferna's actions. They had both forgotten how scientific their friend could be on matters.
"If we are going to do this 'further' extermination we might as well do it right." Ferna said as she scratched her chin. "I say we move on to a different location, and possibly find further constituents to test our working theory."
Alice gave a smile and said, "Sure. Maybe we should see how the addition of power armor clad trained soldiers applying the outside force may change the result."
Ferna giggled but still replied. "Okay. Let's continue on our way to GNR. After that, we can find some of these Brotherhood of Steel people and have them test the efficiency of this wonderful repellent." With those words the group continued on their way.
{-} {-} {-}
It had been about thirty minuets since they decided to move on from their "testing ground". Ferna was staring at a door blinking her blue eyes. A message was repeating in her head.
"This is Defender Morrill. Any Outcasts listening on this frequency report to sector 7-B, Bailey's Crossroads. This is a high-priority message; backup is needed at our location. Any personnel listening on this frequency, please report at once." There was a pause of static before the message repeated again.
Alice gave a half frown and said, "No Ferna… Remember GNR… Good music all over the Wasteland."
Ferna looked to her companion and said, "But… Distress call… Brotherhood…. Surely, they will let us take a pick of weapons and such things if we help… Surely they will have…"
Ferna's blue eyes widened, and her mouth drooled a little bit as she breathlessly said, "Energy weapons…."
Alice felt a little torn, but decided they should press on. "After GNR Ferna…." She started to walk on again.
Ferna gave a pout, and then smirked as she quietly said, "I bet they have more big guns… and missiles…. Maybe even a big energy gun or explosives?"
Alice paused. She looked back at the door with longing. She was very tempted to go through that door. Ferna began to smile. Alice shook her head and said, "Better music first!"
Ferna's smile fell. "Awwwww…. Come on Alice…" She whined. "How can you say no to more laser brand fiery death?"
Alice paused and gave a tear at her sacrifice. "I can only because I want to hear more than just a total of twenty songs repeating, and I want to hear good music all over!"
Suddenly Alice took on a look of extreme determination. Ferna wouldn't have been surprised to see a British flag flowing behind the British beauty as she next spoke. "We must do this for the betterment of mankind Ferna. And more importantly for ourselves. Can't you see?" the dark haired girl gave her friend an expectant knowing look.
Ferna gasped and was inspired by Alice's profound words. The red head then bowed her head and said, "I understand now."
The red head looked up and it was almost as if there were tears of sorrow in her beautiful blue eyes as she spoke, "I was foolish! We must do this for the sake of more good music!"
Ferna then took the lead and suddenly she knew of a better way to get to their destination. Everyone said to take some sewer route, but she really didn't feel like dealing with that mess at the moment. The need for Good music everywhere mattered more than anything else.
Ferna started walking forward with purpose. Alice was right behind her holding Sarah at the ready.
Cheshire was grinning with narrowed hungry eyes. He really liked the look in their unofficial leader's eyes.
{-} {-} {-}
Forty five minutes later, and a couple of dead camps of raiders, the trio found their selves by a wall in an exploded and crumbling building. The wall was actually thicker than most walls, and they heard gunshots and shouts on the other side.
Ferna and Alice both crouched down. Ferna looked the wall over. She figured there was a group of some crazed giants on the other side shooting at what sounded like humans. They figured these humans were the Brotherhood of Steel they had heard Three Dog talk about on the radio.
Ferna thought for a moment. She figured directly opposite of them, were the crazed giants, super mutants judging by Three Dog's words. She got a wonderful awful idea, and gave a wicked smile as she pulled out one of the mini-nukes she had 'collected'.
She placed the mini-nuke by the wall and slowly made her way to a safe distance. Alice gave a smirk. She liked where this was going. Cheshire only mentally chuckled, since he didn't want to ruin the wonderful present Ferna had for those mutants.
Once they were a safe distance from the mini-nuke, Ferna turned to Alice and said, "Alright pull out your missile launcher. Use VATS to aim it once the wall explodes. Only go for red targets."
Ferna then turned to Cheshire, and raised an eyebrow at him. "Do I need to tell you what to do? Or do you already know?"
Cheshire gave a chuckle as he flexed his absurdly sharp claws. "I will tear apart as many of these enemies as I can." Ferna and Alice nodded to him.
Ferna then pulled out her new sniper rifle, and took aim at the mini-nuke. "You might want to look away." She said before pulling the trigger.
{-} {-} {-}
"Watch for the ones up on the walls!" Sarah Lyons shouted to one of her soldiers as a missile whizzed past her unit, and hit a distant wall behind them all. The young sentinel then shot a mingun wielding super mutant right between the eyes with her well maintained laser rifle. The mutant in question disintegrated with the second shot.
Sentinel Lyons took some pleasure in her shot. She then ducked behind a partial wall to dodge a volley of laser rifle shot. She really didn't like these modified laser rifles the mutants used. They shot out three beams instead of just one. How was that fair?!
One of the new recruits decided to get a little bold. The guy jumped out, and started shooting his Chinese assault rifle. He managed to land decent hits on three of the mutants in the mob, and was rewarded with several shots from a minigun in rapid succession.
The shots didn't do any real damage to his person, but they did a number on his suit of power armor. He was now a much easier target. Once a suit of power armor took too much damage the gears slowed down. Given the condition most of their power armor was in due to limited supplies, it didn't take anywhere near as much damage to achieve this.
"Damn it Rogers!" Sarah Lyons cursed. She then turned to a new female recruit and barked some orders to her. "Drag his sorry ass to the medic and safety behind us!"
"Damn it…. We already lost Initiate Jennings. I won't lose another member of Lyons' Pride today!" Sentinel Lyons thought to herself as she took out another mutant.
These green skins were tough ones, and there were a lot of them. Usually, there weren't this many in one place. The young leader guessed Three Dog must have refused a song request from one of them or something.
"If only someone would take out that group at the end of this long corridor! We could then handle the rest. Damn it the ones already by GNR headquarters have the weapon we really need here." Sentinel Sarah Lyons said in frustration.
If it wasn't for the gun fight going on between Lyons' Pride and the mutants. They might have heard the two gun shots from the other side of the wall behind the fortified group of Supers. However, instead they later heard a large explosion, and the Power suited Brotherhood members saw a bright light, several chunks of green super mutants, and a mushroom cloud.
{-} {-} {-}
Once the effects of the mini nuke started to clear. Alice made her move. She wanted a better shot, and figured now was just as good of a time for Ferna to see her special move.
Alice burst into several multicolored butterflies and shot forward quickly. As soon as she materialized, she slipped in to VATS and lined up three shots with her missile launcher. Ferna blinked for a few seconds before running to join her companion.
The fighters had little time to recover from what had just happened as three missiles raced towards the heads of a couple of the still alive mutants. The third missile hit the wall right by two others. Soon after that, several shots from a Chinese Assault Rifle hit another green skin.
None of them really noticed the grey cat like creature that was swiping mutants with his razor sharp claws. He even chuckled in delight, but they didn't really hear him. If they had they would have thanked him for his tactical approach. It was silly for these supers to not pay attention to their minigun ammo belts.
Sarah was flabbergasted for a moment. She just watched and the other members of Lyons' Pride did as well. Suddenly, the few remaining supers turned towards where the explosion came from and gave yells of "Yeaarggg!" As they attacked.
Sentinel Lyons usually hated civilians that meddled in Brotherhood matters, but right now she wasn't about to let these green skins kill their saviors, whoever they were. She motioned for her unit to fire at the supers. The super mutants didn't last long caught in the crossfire of the two sides.
Once the smoke cleared, Sarah Lyons saw the oddest sight in front of her. There was a girl with miraculously silky dark hair wearing a blue dress with a blood splattered apron, and a young red haired girl wearing some vault jumpsuit/leather armor hybrid.
The red haired beauty spoke first. "Excuse me would you mind telling us the best way to Galaxy News Radio's Station?"
The dark haired girl spoke after that in an accented voice. "Also would either of you fine soldiers like to help us further test out a mole rat repellent?"
A deep voice then smugly added, "Good thinking there… That is a very important matter after all."
Sarah blinked her eyes once she saw the strange creature, but didn't react to him further. She had seen some crazy shit in the wasteland. A talking cat, while interesting, was hardly that abstract of an idea.
She shook her head and replied, "Usually I would say something like, 'Are you trying to get yourself killed civilian?' but instead I will say. Yah sure we can get you there. We're on our way to the radio station right now. Follow us and be ready to kill more mutant bastards." She chose to ignore the dark haired girl's question for now.
Alice and Ferna looked to each other and shrugged their shoulders. They easily joined the Brotherhood members on the trek. Sarah looked to them and said, "Alright we need to try and be quiet as we approach GNR HQ. We need to aide our brothers and sisters with the mutants. Understood?" The three nodded in agreement.
As they came across some more mutants, Alice decided it was time to turn on her music selection from Vault 100 with the broadcast option 'on'. Soon the song "Blues in the Night" blared.
Sarah glared at Alice as the cat thing chuckled, but quickly got into action. She was surprised when the girl pulled out a jack in the box and pressed something on it before tossing it. The thing popped up, and started breathing fire in a circular motion, which easily distracted the mutants. As her Pride, started fighting she saw the red head toss some grenades, and use her gun very accurately.
The Sentinel also saw the other girl with the music playing toss out two more jack in the boxes and shoot one with a minigun before it hit the ground. This caused it to explode in a couple of Super Mutant faces.
She blinked. Sarah was surprised the small girl used such a big gun, without the aid of power armor. She blinked again when the girl pulled out a missile launcher, and managed to hit a few mutants in the face with it accurately, really quickly.
As the last super fell, she quietly said, "Impressive… Not really quiet… but effective nonetheless."
The two girls smiled as the cat chuckled and said, "Alice here was never one for subtly if there was a big fight to be had."
The Brotherhood squad leader would have said something, but shook her head and quickly got a report. "All clear ma'am!" Said one of the troops.
She was then about to tell her squad to check the bodies only to then notice the bodies of the fallen members were already stripped of everything except their undergarments. "What the?"
"I suppose you would like these right? For records?" Ferna asked holding up several ID tags from the fallen brotherhood members.
"Yah…." Sarah said flatly. She was actually impressed with how quickly they had striped the bodies of everything.
She then saw the girl called 'Alice' making repairs, and patting her minigun as she said soothing words and called it 'Sarah'. Sarah Lyons couldn't help, but blush at Alice's hand motions and the use of the same name.
She tried to save face as she asked, "Alice calls her minigun… Sarah?"
Ferna smiled causally. "Yes she does. Does it bother you?"
"No… I am Sentinel Sarah Lyons, leader of the elite group of Brotherhood soldiers 'Lyons' Pride'. I am not so easily offended." Sarah Lyons said more to reassure herself as she wondered what kind of group of 'civilians' she had randomly picked up.
Ferna gave a half frown. "Okay… I'm Ferna Lancaster by the way, and the cat's called Cheshire."
"Lancaster?" Sarah Lyons asked. Ferna nodded. Sarah was about to say something, but then Initiate Reddin decided to shoot her mouth off to the pride's second in command, Vargas.
"Did you see how awesome I was?!" Reddin said aloud. She then shot a few rounds of her gun into an already dead super mutant. "That will teach the uglies to face us!"
Paladin Vargas sighed and said to her. "Reddin. Put your helmet back on… and don't waste ammo… Your evaluation still isn't complete."
"Awww… You're no fun Vargs…" She said. She was about to put her helmet back on when they all heard a loud roar, and something crash not too far from them.
"Pride! Get ready!" Shouted Lyons. Her soldiers got ready to fight as did Alice, Ferna, and Cheshire.
Right after Sarah spoke there was a loud crash sound, and a bus went flying through the air. "Behemoth!" Shouted one of the pride.
A large super mutant that was easily twenty feet tall burst into the far edge of the courtyard they were securing. He was wearing a necklace with skulls, and using car parts as armor. He also had what looked like a large grocery cart backpack with mini nukes and missiles.
The thing was charging for the group when suddenly he veered off away from them, and towards something that was ticking loudly. The excessively large super started attacking what looked like a large metal rabbit with an equally big pocket watch. It then exploded in a concussive explosion.
Sarah was about to shout another order when suddenly she heard something launch, and saw another large bright light and mushroom cloud along with hearing a loud explosion. Some grenades flew through the air, and she heard several shots of gun fire all at once.
After the second massive explosion cleared, she looked around and saw Alice somehow grabbed the Fat Man, and was grinning as she looked over the weapon. Sarah then heard Ferna give an exasperated sigh as she said, "Great… Just what I need. Alice with a Fat Man…"
Ferna then muttered something about being glad Alice was on her side. Somehow Sarah had a feeling many mutants, and other monsters of the wasteland, were shuddering in unexplained dread.
The Sentinel then looked over her troops, and saw an open mouthed Reddin recover before quickly put on her helmet. "Damn… I could have died from debris, or something just then…" Said Reddin's now mechanical sounded voice.
Paladin Vargas gave a chuckle and said, "Well congratulations Reddin… You are now officially a part of the Pride. Let's go see if this dump has something to drink in celebration." With that, the Pride went inside as Alice, Cheshire and Ferna split up the loot from the Super Mutant Behemoth.
Cheshire gave a chuckle as he said, "Am I the only one who found it funny Alice's Pip-boy played the song 'Cheek to Cheek' as her mini nuke landed on the thing's face?"
Ferna and Alice blinked at him. Cheshire smiled as he said, "I guess I was the only one." When he was still met with silence he then said, "Regardless I believe we are at our destination. I must say Ferna I rather enjoyed your creative shortcut."
"It really did save us a lot of time Ferna." Alice said as she gave Ferna a hug in thanks. Ferna enjoyed the hug more than she probably should have.
The red head beauty gave a nervous chuckle as she said, "Well I guess we should go see Three Dog now huh?" Alice gave her a lovely smile as the three slowly walked inside. They were weighed down by all of the loot they just acquired. The group wasn't about to let something like weight limits detract from their 'collecting'.
When they entered the radio station they were greeted by the sight of several Power Armor clad soldiers with guns that Alice wanted for repairs or to simply enjoy. She really liked the thought of improving her flame thrower.
"Welcome to GNR civilians. We heard that you really saved our asses out there. If you want, feel free to use our quartermaster for trade." Said a power armored man with a flame thrower.
"Yah… be grateful. We don't usually let civilians do business with our quartermaster. Still… nice work out there girls." Said another power armored man, who was holding a minigun.
The two girls gave them smiles. This really seemed to brighten up the guards' day. They then went and did business with the quartermaster.
Alice and Ferna both took turns using pieces from different sources of power armor to make repairs to one alone. Ferna also found a way to improve her already perfect Xaolin Assault Rifle.
Alice found ways to improve Sarah and her missile launcher. Alice also found a way to fix up her newly acquired weapon of mass death, the Fat Man, as well. Ferna once again thanked whatever Superior Being still existed for getting Alice on her side.
{-} {-} {-}
Ferna and Alice finally entered Three Dog's domain after they had traded all they would trade, and made a subsequent trip to be sure they looted everything outside in the courtyard they could.
"I'm a little excited… aren't you Alice?" Ferna asked.
Alice gave a smile. "Yes I am actually. I mean… we are meeting our favorite living DJ."
"Hmmmm…. I guess it doesn't matter that he is the only living DJ we know of in the Capital Wasteland." Cheshire said. His arrogant amusement was not missed by either Ferna or Alice.
When the trio entered the room they saw Three Dog was at a large computer putting in the next variation of the playlist they figured. Both girls smiled. Ferna knew she was about to complete the quest called, 'The not so quiet Library'. She was excited at the prospect.
Once the DJ finished what he was working on, he turned to the new comers and spoke. "Well I'll be… Odd three dog finally gets to see the two girls causing quite the stir out there in person!"
He gave a wonderful smile as he said, "What can Old Three Dog do for ya? I hope you are enjoying GNR!" He then gave a dejected sigh as he added, "When you can hear it of course, and don't get tired of the same tracks over and over again and again."
The two girls weren't sure what to say at first. It may have been silly, but they felt like they were meeting some famous person for the first time. They were only mentally geeking out a little bit.
Alice recovered and nudged Ferna. Ferna gave a beautiful blush as she smiled and spoke. "Heh… Sorry it is just kind of awesome actually meeting you in person." The DJ smiled to this as the red head continued. "Anyways…. We actually have some more music for you to put on your station… If you don't mind."
Three Dog had to try really hard to contain his joy at those words. "Hoooo Weee! Hell Yeah! Sign me up for that awesome sauce." The DJ coughed and collected himself before going on further.
"I figured you would be asking about your dad, or you were here to help with my toaster… and computer problems…" Three Dog said.
"She is." Alice answered simply.
Ferna then gave confident smile. "Oh I can help with that. Despite everything… my dad did at least teach me well in science and I am a Pip-boy Programmer."
Three Dog gave them a grateful smile and thumps up. "Nice!" He then frowned as he said, "If only I could play those new holotapes for the masses to hear…"
Cheshire gave a smile. "We are also here to help with that good sir."
Three Dog's eyes widened a little bit. "Well I'll be… A talking cat. That's a new one." Cheshire was honestly a little disappointed in this soft reaction, but he didn't care.
"Yes we are. Once we fix your transmission problems, I will ask you about my dad. I'm sure you will be willing to help us out once we help you." Ferna said with a smile.
Three Dog gave a raucous laugh. "You got that right honey… Heck I might have told you about your dad without you helping me out. If you played your cards right."
Alice gave smile. "Ohhh trust me Three Dog… We would have. Honestly though, you station has some of the best music we have ever heard. We hate how once we get too far out it dies out." Ferna gave a nod in agreement.
"So…" Ferna started. "How can we help you out Three Dog? Whatever the problem, I'm sure it can be fixed."
Three Dog jokingly shook his head. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised you are so much like your dad there Ferna… He is willing to fix anything he can himself, but he's a lot more to the point. Still… You must have been some kind of Daddy's girl growing up."
Ferna rolled her eyes and spoke her mind. "Regardless… It has really paid off. He did teach me all about science and medicine he could."
Three Dog chuckled. "That I am sure he did." He then took in a deep breath. "So… about my station. Well you see…. Some Super Mutants decided it would be fun to try and shoot the shiny thing on top of the Washington monument."
He gave a sigh, "I wouldn't really care if it didn't happen to be that said 'shiny thing' was the GNR relay satellite. I heard there is a suitable replacement in the Museum of Technology."
Alice was about to ask what he meant for Ferna, but the DJ answered the unasked question. "It has something to do with the old Lunar Lander there. It seems they placed the actual lander there once they finally found a way to retrieve it from the moon all that time ago."
"How do we get there?" Ferna asked.
"There is a back exit to here, but it is an exit only door. This means you can't use it to get back in here. After that…" He then explained to the two girls and one cat how to get there.
He also added that he would do it himself, but he needed to keep the radio station going. He even explained that he still hadn't fixed up the maintenance robot in one of his rooms, and his 'assistant' didn't know anything about running the station. He vowed to correct this once they left just in case something happened to him.
Alice and Ferna now stood in front of the door Three Dog told them about. "So… sewers after all." Alice said, not hiding her disgust.
"Remember Alice… This is for the sake of good music across all of the Capital Wasteland!" Ferna said with determination. Alice nodded and the two opened GNR's back exit door.
Ferna Level 7! Daddy's girl! (Rank 2 of 3). "You remind me of your farther." So many adults have told you this while growing up. Their kids usually call you nerd or geek, but hey… They just don't know of the fun, and knowledge you get from experimenting. Would they think to use a mini-nuke to blast through a wall? NO! Their loss. Also you learned a good bit of first aid as a result of experimenting, but hey… what the hell. More power to ya!
Extra perk: Unbelievable Determination! You may be easily distracted… very easily distracted… But when you are determined, you are a force to be reckoned with! This perk allows you to find your way in the most unlikely of places and +5 to Badassness... whatever that does.
Alice Level 7! Demolition Expert! Jackbombs... Exploding rabbits… sorry… 'Clockwork bombs'... oh what fun! Ferna may hog the grenades, but Alice doesn't really need them. She prefers her own brand of explosives. Plus seeing the faces of your enemies as a bunny in a top hat and waistcoat with a pocket watch ticks away, and blows them up is rather funny. (Ferna approves! +20. Cheshire Approves +9000!). +20% damage with explosives.
Extra perk: Uncanny familiarity! You weren't exactly sure what the AP stood for on the VATS screen. It only allowed a couple of missile shots for some reason. You decided to reject part of Vault-Tec's reality, and replace it with your own. You know missile launchers and miniguns well enough that you don't need some computer telling you how many shots you can use in VATS. Extra shots with big guns of all kinds! +5 Badassness… Where the hell that came from you don't know, but Ferna apparently has it so why can't you as well?
A/N: Sorry it has been awhile. I just had other things going on plus the holidays. To answer a question asked by a guest called trickster3696… Yes I will use DLC! I'm not sure to what ends, and if the DLC material will span multiple chapters, or just be really long chapters yet. However, I will use DLC. I mean there should be some obvious reasons why Ferna and Alice wouldn't allow me to just skip over it.
Also, sorry I didn't go into detail about what it was Alice and Ferna did in Minefield. However, I figured it would have made the chapter too long. I know some were probably thinking "Fuck! I don't care! Give me the details! I want to see some hot girl on girl action damnit!" I also know some might have been like "Phew! I'm glad we didn't get an adult scene that was obviously a ploy to add in some girl on girl action for no real reason."
Regardless of which camp you belong too, I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I will later actually include some action between Alice and Ferna, but it will be for the reasons I first kind of got into girl on girl romance. This means it won't be just pointless, and it will show that the two actually love each other deep down.
For now though... If you are a part of the first camp, then think of whatever you want to have happened between the two beautiful girls. Imagination can be a wonderful thing.
One last note. I'm wondering if I should add another character to this trio or not. It would only be one more, and this story has an "alignment doesn't matter to companions" mod activated.
Also an "All NPCs recruitable" mod as well, but I'm only willing to allow the inclusion of temporary companions in addition to the normal ones. If someone does give me a good case for including a different NPC, I will consider them too. Either PM me with your choice, or actually bother to leave a review that includes your choice and reason if needed. If no one answers this then expect a rather rash decision about the matter possibly made under the influence of alcohol. Though I would like to hear from people.
The name Sierra was given to me by drmonicblood. I know some might not like this, but I felt since they have been such a fan, and told me their thoughts regularly about chapters, whatever they were, they deserved some kind of appreciation. I have to admit I like the name too. I won't tell you all what weapon will get the name yet though, but I have a feeling many of you already know what weapon it will be, or at least have an idea.
Anyways hope you liked the chapter, and feel free to spread the word of this fic! Lol… Really though just tell me what you like, or don't like about the story. I respond to reviews and like reading them, but as always. I mainly like writing a story that people enjoy reading. I just like hearing they enjoy the story.
Question for the viewers! (if they care to answer...) "So... what do you all think about my listing songs in the chapters, even though I don't give you all of the lyrics?"
