Ch.25 Calling the Shots
"I want you to make me an all-powerful genie!" Jafar declared, holding the lamp high. We all stared, horrified by this and already imagining what powers Jafar would have if this wish was granted. I looked at Genie, but his face with filled with anger and shame. He had no choose. He turned and flicked his finger at Jafar, hitting him with a bolt of energy. The ground began rumbling while Jafar laughed, and the center of the room fell apart to reveal a hole below. Jafar lowered down into it, his laughter still sounding in our ears. "How do we stop him now?" Donald asked. "I don't know. Now that he's a genie, Jafar's powers will be off the scale," I said. Aladdin looked at his friend. "Genie, please. Is there some way to stop him?"
Now that the third wish had been granted Genie was free to help, and he looked up thoughtfully. "Well... there is one way," he said. "Really? What?" Sora said. "Every Genie has a lamp, and if they're called back into that lamp they're cooped up tight. If you can get Jafar's lamp, you can seal him in!" Genie said, snapping his fingers and smiling. "Alright! Now we just need to get the lamp!" Goofy exclaimed. We all nodded, and looked at the hole. "Well guys, ready?" I asked, and they nodded. As one, we jumped down into the hole. Down down below he room was dark red, with a single square pillar that we still on, while around the edges of the room the area below was filled with molten lava.
With another rumbled Jafar rose out of the lava, now in the form of a Genie. Iago flew by with black lamp, and Aladdin said "The lamp! Get it!" "Not a chance!" Jafar said, and he crossed his arms before firing a beam of energy at us from his eyes. I shouted and rolled to the side, barely avoiding the hit. "I'd better get out of here!" Iago said, and he began flying up to the surface. But I would have none of that, and used Collision Magnet to pull him back down. "You're not going anywhere, either!" I said, and I swung so that he crashed into the ground. He let out a pained squawk and laid back, his eyes rolling back into his head. I smiled and reached down to grab the lamp, when just in time I looked up to see a giant fireball flying straight for me.
"Dexal!" Sora said, and he cast Blizzara. The ice shard hit the center of the fireball and caused it to shatter, sending pieces of flaming rubble flying. I nodded my thanks , before something occurred to me and I looked at him. "When did you learn Blizzara?" I asked. Sora smiled. "About thirty seconds ago. Now come on; let's get this guy!" he said. I nodded and rushed forward along with him, while inside I was wondering just how quickly this kid was going to learn stuff. Donald cast Thunder and shot a bolt of lighting at Jafar, but he batted it aside and swung with his fist. We all scattered as Jafar slammed his fist into the ground, creating a small crater from the impact.
"Okay, time to even these odds!" I said, and I held my Keyblade up with both hands. "Thundaga Shot!" I said, and I fired a ball of lightning at Jafar. He smirked and said "Again?" before trying to knock my spell away as well. But the moment his hand made contact the ball burst, sending blasts of lightning in every direction. Including Jafar's face. He yelled and drew back, rubbing at his face. Iago groaned and stood up, ready to take the lamp and fly away again, when another bolt hit him on the tail feathers. He shouted and flew forward, still half-asleep and not seeing where he was going. So when he crashed into a wall and slid down, I wasn't all too surprised. "Nice one, Dexal!" Goofy said, while he blocked another fireball from the now enraged Jafar and threw his shield.
"Worthless street rats!" he yelled, swinging his arm and trying to knock us into the lava. But Sora and the others ducked while I jumped over the move. Aladdin however, smiled and suddenly stood, just in time for the attack to hit him. "Aladdin!" we all called, but then he stabbed his sword into Jafar's arm. Said person yelled and drew back, trying to get Aladdin off of his arm. But he pulled his sword out and jumped onto the arm, running forward and slashing him in the chest. We watched as Jafar tried over and over to get Aladdin off of him, only for him to dart out of the way at the last second. I smiled and turned to Iago, who had finally regained full consciousness and grabbed the lamp between his talons.
"Forget Jafar! I'm outta here!" he said, and flew up. But I cast Aeroga and propelled myself up in front of him. He shouted and flew back, while I said "Going somewhere?" I cast Tornado to make sure I would stay in the air and moved forward, chasing after Iago. For a parrot he flew awfully fast, and whenever I got close he would put an extra ounce of speed into his flight. I had nearly caught up with him when I heard a shout, and turned to see that Jafar had successfully caught Aladdin. He smiled and threw him down, straight towards the lava. "Aladdin!" we all called, and I used Magnega. The spell didn't help, and he neared the lava below. That was when we heard a voice call "Al!" and with a burst of blue smoke Genie appeared below to catch him.
"Thanks, Genie!" Aladdin said, relieved that he wasn't going to be fired to a crisp. "Not a problem!" he replied, setting him down next to us. "Sorry, but we need one more favor. Can you distract Jafar long enough for us to get his lamp?" I requested. For a second he looked like he was going to say no, until he smiled and said "Thought you'd never ask!" He flew towards Jafar and grew in size, until the two were both giant, and Jafar glared at Genie. "You are worthless!" he said, and swing his fist. Genie backed away before countering, swinging as well. While the two magically powerful beings fought it out with each other, the rest of us turned out attention to Iago.
Once he realized we were all staring at him, Iago shouted and flew off. We chased after him, and Donald tried to freeze him to the ground with Blizzara. But the ice spell missed when Iago turned, flying off to the side. "Goofy! Hold your shield over your head!" I said, He looked at me, unsure of what I had in mind, but nodded. That was when I picked him up and threw him like a bizarre missile. It hit and Iago shouted, knocked to the ground and pinned by Goofy. He wriggled free and tried to grab the lamp, but Aladdin got to it first and picked it up. "Give that back!" Iago yelled, but Sora nailed him on the head with Jungle King and knocked him out one more time.
With the lamp in hand, Aladdin turned to Jafar and said "Okay, Jafar! Back to the lamp!" Jafar looked away from and looked down at us. "What... did you say?" he asked. I smiled, and repeated what Genie said. "That one with the lamp calls the shots!" With that the lamp began vibrating, and a vortex or orange light burst out. Jafar shouted as he was pulled in, and he tried to grab the edge of the pillar to anchor him. But it was in vain; with a shout of anger he was pulled in, along with the unconscious Iago. There was silence, until suddenly a ball of bright red fire appeared in the air and flew towards Sora's Keyblade, which absorbed it. "Whoa!" he exclaimed. "I can feel myself getting stronger!" "That would be the power of fire. Congratulations; you now know the spell Fira," I said.
While Sora smiled there was another flash, and a piece of paper drifted down towards us. I caught it and looked at the writing, and my eyes widened. "This... This is a page from Ansem's report!" I said. The others looked at me in shock, but before we could say anything the room began shaking. "Gawrsh, we better get out of here!" Goofy said. I nodded and cast Transcendence, lifting us into the air until we were out of the hole and back in the room.
But Jasmine wasn't there.
"Jasmine? Jasmine!" Aladdin called, while Sora and looked at the Keyhole. "If you would," I said, and Sora nodded. He pointed the Jungle King at the Keyhole, and a beam of light fired from the blade. Light swirled around the Keyhole before it closed, and disappeared. Suddenly, the rest of the room began shaking as well. "The Cave's gonna collapse!" Donald exclaimed. "Come on, Aladdin! We have to go!" Sora urged. "Jasmine!" he yelled but we pulled him back and I said "Jasmine's not here anymore! Now come on!" I could tell he didn't want to, but Aladdin reluctantly went with us and climbed onto the Magic Carpet.
After we had escaped we made our way back to Agrabah, stopping once we were finally in Aladdin's House. Once there we explained the situation to him, and he stood.. "So, Jasmine's no longer in Agrabah. Sora, Dexal, let's go find her," he said. I frowned and looked at Sora, who wore a similar expression of guilt. "Sorry, but we can't take you with us," I said. "Wh-Why not?!" he asked. "I was we could," Sora said to Donald and Goofy. "But we can't. If we take him to another world, we would be Muh... Mudd-" Goofy said. "Meddling!" Donald finished. "Aladdin, we'll find Jasmine. I promise," Sora said. Aladdin sat back, slumping sadly, and I don;t think he heard. Genie leaned forward and smiled.
"Uh, earth to Al. Hello? You still have one wish left. Look, just say the word. Ask me to find Jasmine for you," he said. I stared at Genie. Aladdin had made a promise to free Genie from the lamp with his last wish, but here he was, willing to give that up. Aladdin looked up from where he sat, and said "Okay, I... I wish... for your freedom, Genie!" Genie had been rearing back to cast a spell, but at that his eyes snapped open and he stared. "Al!" he exclaimed. A pink whirlwind of light surrounded him, and genie shouted as the cuffs on his wrists vanished and his legs appeared. Aladdin smiled. "A promise is a promise, Genie. Now, you can go anywhere you want. You're your own master! But if you can, it'd be great if you could help them find Jasmine."
Genie frowned and turned around, crossing his arms over his chest. "Sorry Al, but I'm done taking orders from anyone," he declared. Aladdin looked at hi m in shock, but then genie looked back and smiled. "But... A favor, now that's entirely different. I guess I could give it a try," he said, winking. Aladdin smiled. "Genie..." he began. "Just leave it to me!" Genie promised. Aladdin nodded, and turned to Sora. "here, take this with you. And please find Jasmine," he said, taking something out of his pocket and handing it to him. "Another Keychain!" I said, staring at it. "I made it myself! Have fun with it!" Genie said. We nodded, and left for the Gummi Ship.
Far away, in another world, Hades, Maleficent and Riku stood around a table. "That smarmy vizier could've hand them- if someone had stuck around to give him a hand," Hades said, looking at Riku. He frowned and said "Hey, I did my part. I brought the princess, didn't I?" "Jafar was beyond help, consumed by his own hatred. One should beware of letting it burn too fiercely," Maleficent said. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Lighten up. I'm as cool as they come, okay?" Hades assured them, forgetting the fact that his head was literally on fire. But before Riku could point that out, he turned and looked at him. "By the way, kid, have we got something special for you," he said.
"Huh?" Riku asked. "We had a deal, yes? You help us, and we grant you your wish..." Maleficent said, waving her hand. On the table, an image of Kairi lying asleep appeared. "Kairi!" Riku exclaimed. "Go to her. Your vessel is waiting," Maleficent told him. From behind a man with a large mustache and a hook for a hand walked forward. "Just remember, this is no pleasure cruise. It won't be a pleasant voyage," he warned. "Why are you doing all this for me? What's the catch?" Riku questioned. "Catch? What's the catch? Silly boy. You're like a son to me. I only want you to be happy," Maleficent said, about to cup his cheek. Before she could though, Riku shoved it away and said "I seriously doubt that. Maleficent frowned. "Believe what you wish. But lest we forget, I kept my end of the bargain," she said. To this Riku said nothing, but merely left with the hook-handed man.
Another world is down, and Kairi may just yet be found. But will our heroes find her as well? And what world will they arrive in next? Stay tuned to find out!
