III.
The funny thing about technology is that we think that it is endless and that there is nothing that it can't do. We think that knowledge is limitless; that we humans are the superior species in the universe. But we aren't. Some things you just can't fix.

Videl spent the day a Bulma's house, watching as she tried to piece together the shards that was her phone. Gohan came by the house a while later with Dende and Videl gratefully allowed him to heal her hand.
"Thank you so much again." She said, unraveling the gauze from her hand and stretching it, twisting it and spinning it in a circle. "I'll never get used to how cool you guys are!" Dende laughed.
"Not a problem. So how are you and Gohan doing?" Videl shrugged her shoulders.
"He's going to college across the way next year while I'm staying closer to home. He can come visit me whenever and vice versa, but it would sure be easier to communicate if I had my phone." She gave a soft sigh and looked to where he was standing by Bulma, giving his insight onto how to possibly fix it. "You dont by chance have the power to fix phones do you?" Videl laughed.
"No, sorry." Dende laughed with her. "Anyway, I must be getting back to the Lookout. It was nice seeing you!" Videl gave him a short hug and watched as he faded into the distance.
"I am a professional and I own my own company which is larger than you could ever dream of. Don't you tell me how to fix a phone!" Bulma's voice suddenly sounded from the table.
Videl walked over to where the two were standing and placed her hands on Gohan's shoulders and moved him slightly away from the angry woman.
"Thanks for everything you've done Bulma, but I think we are going to head home and get something to eat." Bulma huffed and nodded, giving Videl an out to drag her boyfriend up the stairs and outside where they both lifted off the ground and headed to his house.

When they got to the Son house, ChiChi's voice could be heard from outside. Videl cringed at the sound. Goku had probably gone and eaten all the food again. She voiced her prediction to Gohan who then laughed.
"That's my dad for you! I dont know how my grandfather fed him all those years." They both had grins on as they walked through the door to a red-faced Goku and a blazing ChiChi.
"-EARTH WOULD YOU EAT ALL THE FOOD! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A PICNIC TONIGHT! NOW VIDEL WONT HAVE ANYTHING TO EAT AND WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BAD IMPRESSION ON HER."
Gohan took that moment to clear his throat softly and ChiChi quickly stopped shouting and nodded a hasty greeting to Videl, before hitting Goku in the gut, forcing him to bow his head in admission as well. Videl nodded a greeting to the both of them.
"Please don't worry about me, I'm just going to get a few notes and such off of Gohan and I'll be off on my way." She nodded again and her and Gohan went to the small room that he and his brother shared. As he pulled out notes from the other day, Goten popped in the room to say hello.
"Trunks said you punched his dad!" Videl blushed and rubbed the back of her head sheepishly.
"Yeah, not one of my best ideas."
"But it was totally cool! Trunks said it was the coolest thing he's seen in a long time... well besides Buu and every one taking over the world and then that time when his future self came back in time, and then that..."
Goten trailed on for a while before Videl had the heart to tell him that she had to go home. He waved an eager goodbye, standing next to Gohan as she flew away.

As she flew through the night air she felt the wind stream through her hair and all her ties to the earth were gone while she soared. Maybe she didnt need a phone with all her stuff on it. She would definitely keep as much of it as she could on her computer from now on.
When she got home, her dad greeted her and they gave each other a hug before she let out a huge yawn and headed up to her room.
"Oh by the way a package came for you today. It's on your bed."
"Thanks dad!" She shouted back, racing up the rest of the way up the stairs to find a small box laying on her bed. It was a simple brown cardboard box, just slightly larger than a deck of cards. There was no name or address on the box, just simply her name scrawled in large blocky letters. She sat on her bed and ripped it open to find a phone that looked exactly like the one that was now pieces of rubble in Bulma's lab. Confused, she looked into the box to find an explanation, finding nothing more than a small piece of paper. On it written in the same crude handwriting.
Next time, learn to punch better.
Videl laughed so hard that night that her stomach hurt the next morning, but she could still feel the smile upon her face.

A/N: Wow. After four years I have finally completed this fic and I don't really know what to think. In the past four years since I made this account and I've grown so much as an author and a person and thinking that all that time ago I was a really new author who was still typing stories on a dinosaur of a computer and now I'm typing it on my brother's(my) notebook that is so much more proficient and worthwhile. I guess this goes to all of you out there who have read this story and enjoyed it, reviewed it, followed it, and waited for me to finally update. Thank you for being my firsts on here and for inspiring me. It means a lot to me.
