Happy Thanksgiving! :D
Kim sprang to her feet and turned to face her opponent, her hands in their signature battle position.
"Darling, you can put those hands away, you won't need them. I haven't come here to fight," the disembodied voice carried through the darkness.
Suddenly a bodiless foot appeared across the room. The appendage was laced in a black, expensive Italian leather loafer. Attached to it, a slim leg escaped from the shadows. It was dressed in an elegant black suit and seemed rather thin and muscle less. The rest of the man's hip emerged, which Kim could also tell was rather narrow and straight. Her opponent didn't seem so scary when he was coming into the light. The man's torso matched the blackness of his leg in a similar jacket, and he was tied off with a small red bow grasping his neck. Finally the face of her villain emerged.
He was crisp and dark in a matter. His long, silky salt and paper hair tied bag into an elegant, slick ponytail that cascaded down his back. His dark eye lashes were thicker on the bottom, giving the strange man a unique shadow that laid across his face. Once he was in plain view, Kim noticed the man looked in his midforties, which just contributed to his sly, sinister appearance. She raised her hands higher, and narrowed her eyes, focusing solely on her opponent.
"Did you not here me, Sweetheart? I asked you to put those nasty hands away. I only want to talk to you," his voice said, soothingly, but Kim was not that dumb. She kept her hands right where she believed they were needed: protecting the delicate crevices of her face. She heard the man sigh, "I should have guessed you'd be stubborn." Kim was not sure whether he was complaining to her or lamenting to himself. She decided to stay quiet.
"Come Kimberly Ann, don't be like that. I'm not the bad guy here," the man's face turned to a sarcastic pout. Only Kim couldn't focus on that. This stranger just called her Kimberly Ann. No body in Amity Park was supposed to know her as Kim Possible. Just who was this man?
"Oh dear, forgive me, Ms. Possible! It's my understanding you are currently going by the surname 'Wate'. Well, please don't let me worry you, Ms. Wate. I mean no harm." The man lifted his arms in an innocent manner, but Kim didn't budge. Normally, she was rather blind in trusting, but she could tell there was something off about this man.
"Goodness, you are a tough cookie. But you do realize this matter could have gone worse, no? See I could have ordered someone to kidnap you, and bring you to my mansion. But I thought you'd be more comfortable in your apartment. Though I must say, you should work on your hosting manners. I haven't even been offered tea!" His dramatic voice echoed.
"My apologies. If I had known you were coming, perhaps I could have prepared something," Kim finally spoke up, unable to remain silent for any longer.
"Ah, now isn't that a precious voice. If only you'd speak more," the ponytailed freak pleaded. "Oh I'd be happy to! Let's start over, shall we? I'm Kim possible, but you already knew that," she chuckled. "And you are?" Kim asked, batting her long dark eyelashes. "Vlad, miss. Mayor Vlad Masters. And may I say it is so nice to finally meet your acquaintance."
"Mayor?" She questioned.
"Yes, my dear. I suppose you had no idea your arrival would be so... political? Anywho, it's come to my realization that you've been hired to end this pesky ghost vermin who's been haunting my lovely town."
There was something about the way that the man said "my town" that irked Kim.
"So you know all about me, I see. I'd ask about you, only I don't care," she smirked.
"Feisty, I see," Vlad offered the same smirk.
"See, there is only one problem. I'd love to handle this problem for you, only I need my ghost suit to do it, and it seems I've misplaced it. Do you, by chance, know where it is?"
"All in due time, darling. First, a few housekeeping matters I think you should know:
"One, I am not your enemy. It was I who begged the Guys in White to allow you this position in dealing with the ghost boy."
"How incredibly generous of you," Kim rolled her eyes.
Vlad ignored her sassy comment, and continued. "Second, you need my help in capturing this ghost fiend. I know endless amounts of information I can offer to you. Information you will not be able to obtain without my giving or years and years of observation and confrontation."
"How could you possibly know anything about ghosts? It seems like everyone in this town is a backwards loon, and you're their leader! You should be stupider then them for A, wanting to be in the running for election, and B, getting elected."
"I think you'll soon learn, I'm a very persuasive person," he spoke while viscously grinning. It was as if they were in Pre K and he knew something she didn't; which, judging by his constant condescending tone, wasn't a far guess. "And, three is simply a reminder: not every ghost is evil."
Kim didn't have time to dwell on something so ridiculous. She jumped right back to her original question.
"And for the second time, where is my suit?" She demanded, but was disappointed to see the thin lips of the man curl into a small smile. "On your bed with a note about how to use some features. I've also modified the bugs, so it will not malfunction. You're welcome."
Kim pushed passed him to make sure he wasn't lying about the suit. She only peaked her head in for a moment, and confirmed it was there before turning back to show her visitor the door. Only he wasn't there. Had she just dreamed the entire thing? Was any of this really happening? Maybe I just didn't hear the door... Should I pinch myself?
Rolling that strange disappearance down her back, she returned to her bedroom to test out her suit.
She picked up the expensive stationary, and began to read the neat cursive.
Dear Ms. Possible,
It came to my attention that you were assigned to handle a certain ghost boy for my lovely town in which I mayor. First, allow me to express my thanks to you. Second, I'd like to talk about this lovely piece of equipment I have perched this letter upon. I must give my appreciation to whoever made the suit. It was truly a marvelous piece of equipment, although with a few bugs.
First, I noticed that when it went intangible, I did not actually phase through anything with ease. Lucky for you, I was able to make a few modifications, and this problem is no more. Regarding intangibility and invisibility, you would have to say 'go intangible' or 'go invisible'. Again, with my aid, you now only have to think about phasing through the wall or not being able to be seen. I must thank your original technician as this is technology I have not yet mastered how to create, but know how to improve.
Another separate bug I noticed was the offense tactics. Every time the suit went to throw a ball of ectoplasm, it created some sort of spark that would eventually explode, with you still inside the suit. How lucky that I came across you, as I have fixed this issue as well. That was all the problems with the offense, but I must add that I saw some familiar technology inside the arm guns. Almost as if you got it from Maddie Fenton… but that is irrelevant as it will definitely help you.
The defense on this suit was marvelously designed, with no bugs; however, I did notice a hole in the blocking. I have safely added a force field that is incorporated to protect you against any ectoplasm.
Lastly, on the next page of this letter, I have added some unusual powers this ghost boy possesses.
It was a pleasure to meet your acquaintance today,
Mayor V. Masters
P.S. I recommend you not going out tonight. You'll be much safer in your bed, trust me.
She refolded the letter, and laid in on her dresser. She stared down at her white and blue suit, and held it in her fingers. She was able to feel every fiber, and was running her small dactyls up and down every seam. The blue pads were more of a Plexiglas, but the still just as sturdy and soft as the fabric. She also noticed that Wade had made it two separate pieces. One ended right under her chest, while the other started above her hips. They were both so little that it looked like a bikini, or rather plain underwear.
She pulled the two pieces apart, and saw a smaller, cheaper piece of paper float to the ground. She hadn't noticed it encased between the two clothing items. She read:
Kim – I changed the suit into two small pieces. You should wear it under your clothes every day. Who knows when he'll attack? When your heart rate gets up, it will morph back into one whole suit to protect your body. Let me know how it works out! -Wade
She laid the suit on the dresser next to both notes, and unfolded her bedspread. She had full intentions to go out tonight, but something in the back of her mind told her to listen to Vlad's warning and get to sleep. Besides she could catch up on her hours, anyways.
Call it trust, but Kim felt the need to listen to Vlad.
So I know this was a little on the short side, but I didn't plan on this being super duper long. It was short and sweet, right? A great way to make it to ten chapters! Let me know what you think by reviewing!
You can also let me know how your Thanksgiving day went! Or what you did to celebrate Hanukkah today! :)
