Danny walked one step at a time towards Kim, who appeared to be in a slumber. His white hair hung just over his eyes, and it flittered in no apparent breeze. He noticed Kim's ginger locks also seemed to curl as if a gust of air was making them, but the rest of Danny was still in the invisible breeze. He didn't feel it at all, only seemed to notice it with the tendrils of his and Kim's hair. In fact, he really didn't feel anything. It was like being surrounded by water: gravity was not present for as far as Danny could see.

He walked steadily, not wanting to startle the sleeping girl. She was attached to something beneath the cloudy mass and bound at the ankles. This was the first thing that Danny noticed. "Don't worry, Kim. I'm gonna find a way to get you out of this."

He dove into the bottomless, dense fog, and tried to make sense of his surroundings. There appeared to be nothing below that the end of Kim's chains were connected to – at least not close enough that Danny could see with his naked eye – so he chose to find a more logical approach than flying to the bottom of the fog that was who knows how deep. The thought occurred to him that she was bound by simple, non-ectoplasm-resistant chains. In other words, a simple blast to one of the interlocking pieces should cause the whole thing to snap. He aimed one white glove towards Kim, and a spurt of hot ectoplasm was flung towards the chain.

Don't worry, Kim. I'm gonna find a way to get you out of this, was the first thing Kim heard as she felt herself coming to. She was slowly getting some feeling back into the tips of her fingers and she began to lightly wiggle them around as she could feel the pins and needles stabbing her nerves.

Her sense of hearing was the first thing to come back, and that was what ignited the sense of touch, which was coming more and more quickly now.

She knew that her sight would come next, and she was willing to be patient, but a searing hot light found its way against her eyelid, and she cringed at its brightness. She could definitely see clearly now, so she opened her eyes. She was half expecting to find Danny Fenton at her rescue thanks to her being able to hear his voice, and half expecting to be alone somewhere. She couldn't remember much about the incident that got her in this mess. Whatever happened to her must've involved some kind of drug. It wasn't like her to forget something so quickly. Then again, how long had she been out? When her eyes opened completely and they stopped fluttering, her first instinct was to find the time of day, but she was surrounded by green and brightness. Everywhere she turned, a never ending continuation of the same green fog went on forever. Kim didn't know what to think of it, but she didn't have much time to worry. She looked back to what was directly in front of her, and found a floating black and white object pointing at her.

Kim blinked her eyes a few times to focus, and instantly realized that the ghost demon was hovering in front of her, and getting ready to shoot something at her. It was also then that she realized her restraints. The only conclusion Kim could draw was that the Ghost Kid had somehow captured her, and trapped her by locking chains around her ankles. She was trapped with nowhere to go.

As the fingers of the gloved ghost lit up with green ectoplasm, Kim's heart began to race.

"Please don't freak out!" the Phantom begged. Kim scoffed. How do you not freak out in this situation? Because her heart was racing and her blood pumping, she could feel her beloved suit crawling up and down her body. It's about time, Kim smiled, and pounced out of the way just in time from the Phantom's blow. When her suit had completely covered her face, Kim realized that the ghost had officially seen her true identity. That meant no life remained for her in Amity Park. It was too dangerous with that ghost flying around.

Still, she couldn't help but love the way the ghost's green eyes widened when he saw Kim completely transform. She relished in this shock, and taunted, "Big mistake."

She did a triple backflip, pushing herself backwards, in order to increase the distance between her and the ghost while she plotted out her first move. She hovered above the fog about ten feet away from the one encased in black spandex and narrowed her eyes in her own thoughts.

Under ordinary circumstances, Kim would wait for her opponent to make the first move. However, she had fought Phantom enough times to know that he relished in any sign of weakness. He would gnaw at her slightest bit of compassion – something she knew she couldn't afford while she was already the weaker of the two. So, she took the first move.

She leapt towards the ghost, covering the gap between them, and clenched her fists tightly. A machete with a ghostly aura suddenly popped out of the sleeve on her right hand, and she swiftly swung it at the ghost boy. He moved out of the way just in time, and turned his momentum against her, so she would fall on her face. The cheerleader avoided this easily, and hurled herself up and over the ghost to land on the other side of him.

Without pausing, she took another angled swing with her knife, and wasn't surprised when the ghost turned invisible. He reappeared just a few feet away from her. That was odd. He would normally try to get the element of surprise by startling her, but he appeared just farther away from her instead. Why was he going easy on her? Did he think he was better? This angered Kim. She didn't just want to defeat Phantom, she wanted to defeat him and receive the glory that comes from beating an infamous villain.

Because he was already so far away, Kim decided to take a more-distanced approach. She bundled two balls of ectoplasm – one in her left hand and one in the other. She hurled one at the Ghost, but he dodged out of the way. She threw the second, but, again, he just missed it. This continued on and on until, finally, the Apparition went invisible, and didn't reappear in the obvious place he had early.

Kim spun around. She ignited white ectoplasm in her palms, and continued to search for the Ghost Boy. But all she saw was the green fog. Surrounded. Utterly submerged in the eerie color. She felt no other presence, and was beginning to think the Demon had forfeited.

Then she felt a snatching pressure on her arm.

She snapped her head to the right, and found the Ghost Boy in her face, their noses a centimeter apart.

"Who are you?" he snarled. Kim scoffed, and went to break free, but she realized he had a tighter grip than usual. Through the Plexiglas of her helmet, she looked into the green eyes of the ghost. The ghostly eyes suddenly reminded her of that snake-ghost she had seen at the Fenton's home. Only those appeared to be filled with obsession and anger. These glowing orbs looked ample with pain, remorse, and betrayal. She couldn't put her finger on it, but the ghost didn't have the same attitude as he usually did. He was neither snarky nor sarcastic, and he had not been on offense once. Kim was disappointed. It almost didn't seem worth fighting the ghost if he wasn't going to put up a fight. But then she remembered that this was simply a task, and the sooner she got it done, the sooner she could return home to her family and friends in Middleton.

"Who are you? Really?" the ghost repeated, drawing Kim back to the reality that was this green mass of smoke. "Tell me!" The ghost dug his gloved fingernails into Kim's sleeved arm. Even though the fingernails of the ghost and the epidermis of Kim were blocked by two articles of clothing, Kim still felt the pain, and she cringed underneath her helmet. Ghosts must have extremely sharp fingernails.

The Phantom adjusted his face even closer with her own, and snarled for the third time, "What is your name?"

"K-kim Poss… Possible," Kim gasped while she sucked in air from the pain signals shooting through her arm.

"Why are you here? Why did you start fighting me? WHAT DO YOU WANT?" the ghost yelled. Kim couldn't believe this. Here she was, after being kidnapped by the demon and thrown into wherever the hell she is, and he has the nerve to question her? Kim was not playing by his rules.

In one motion, Kim stuck the ghost's nose with the heel of her palm, and yanked her wrist free when he was distracted. She observed her sleeve, and saw 5 tiny, crescent puncture wounds where the ghost had drawn blood. It spread around the white suit, and Kim was sure it would leave a stain. Damnit.

This act of escape clearly agitated the ghost. She could see anger added to his eyes, and she wasn't about to give him the chance to let it out on her.

She pulled a laser gun out of her suit, and fired it up whilst pointing it towards Phantom. But she wasn't quick enough. He was already hurling a lump of ectoplasm towards her when she looked up, and the only way she saw to get out of the splash zone was down. So she did.

Kim plunged into the viridescent abyss. Once completely submerged and surrounded by the dense, thick fog, Kim realized she couldn't see a thing. The air was like pea soup. She held her hand to her face, and saw only an outline. She would have to rely on her other sense while down here as sight was definitely not going to be useful. She continued to swim deeper and deeper into the bottomless trench. She knew she had to get away from the Phantom while he had the leverage. She would have to figure something out, and she had no idea where to start. If she just popped out of the green, she could show up at the most unlucky spot and be a clear shot for the ghost. Of course, she could also come up on the other side of their battlefield, and be safe, but the risk was too heavy.

She'd have to think of another solution.

Only she didn't have time to do that. She felt herself being drawn to two glowing green spheres amidst the dense green air. The two circles appeared to be brighter than the air that encased her, and Kim felt an odd connection to them. She couldn't appear to keep her eyes away.

Danny spotted her. Danny spotted the lying, betraying bounty hunter from afar. She floated a ways away from her while they were both under a heavy fog. His nocturnal ghost eyes clearly separated the air from his surroundings, but Danny knew the regular human eye could not. He had the leverage.

But then she spotted him. From the opposite side of the swirling green mass, he realized the blue Plexiglas was staring straight at him. Damnit. His eyes were glowing brightly green. Intense feelings would often do that to him. Especially anger. Danny always had a hard time controlling his anger.

And right now, that was all that he could feel. Kim – the sweet innocent Kim he had tried to save – turned out to be the Girl in White. Of course, Danny now realized the obvious clues he'd missed during their friendship. Her cheerleading background, her endless questions about ghosts, her desire for ghostly weapons while having dinner with his family.

Dinner with his family…

Did she bring that ghost-snake into his home. Was she the reason his mother had been possessed. He recalled the snakes message with ease. He's watching.

Who was he? Vlad? He remembered Sam and Tucker beginning to unravel the mystery and believing he was at the head of it. The crazy, over the top snake did sound just like him.

But what did that mean for sweet Kim?

Was she a clueless pawn in Vlad's ultimate chess game or was she somehow behind this as well. Danny didn't want to jump to conclusions, but he needed answers. And he knew he wasn't going to get them while fighting. He would have to think of something that would just make her pass out for long enough for Danny to tie her up so he could force her to talk. There had to be something.

He could just hit her hard enough to knock her out, but that wasn't something he necessarily wanted to do. Even though she'd betrayed him, Danny knew that Kim couldn't be evil. He would have to think of something else.

And then there was the age-old question: Should she tell him about his secret half, or leave it all a mystery? He hadn't told Valerie, but that was because she had a personal feud against his ghostly half. If Kim turned out to be just a player and not the king, then she deserves the answer. But, Danny wouldn't be able to find out if she was evil incarnate unless they got a chance to talk, so he was back to question one: how do I get her to start talking?

While he stared at her from across the fog, the thought dawned on him that he could use his element of surprise. Kim's suit was certainly fancy, but she was no real ghost. Mastering the basic arts of being a ghost took Danny 6 months to grasp, and he still found himself learning new things that were far from basic. She was good, but he had years of ghost experience over her, and they both knew that.

Now he just had to think of a plan to sneak up on her, and trap her with handcuffs made from his own ectoplasm.

Kim was staring at the two glowing orbs for a long time. But then, they disappeared. Kim didn't even have time to get worried about the orbs because she felt a pressure against her wrist, and she immediately turned around. Phantom had secured an ecto-tie behind her back around both hands. She lashed and struggled out of the knot, but it was too tight. Definitely an efficient tool, ectoplasm – Kim decided. But that didn't necessarily help her out of this problem.

She tried to pull her hands apart at the wrist and then at the shoulder. It wasn't budging.

She felt the hand of the ghost on her shoulder, and she violently shook it off. He may have bound her hands, but she was not giving up. Being at a disadvantage was not the same as losing. She did an intricate back flip, and lunged into the air to distance herself from the ghost.

Phantom instantly appeared directly in front of her again.

Intangibility. Well, two can play that game. Kim smirked, and willed her suit to go intangible, but it didn't.

She tried again, but couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.

"Did my mention that ghost's powers are slightly limited in the Ghost Zone? That's where you are by the way," the ghost smirked. It would appear he was back to his usual snarky self.

"No. You failed to mention that. Care to elaborate?" Kim tried to play coolly.

"Hm… no actually," he gripped her shoulder again and attempted to drag her away from the green mass, but she resisted.

"Get off! I still have a few tricks up my sleeve," she guaranteed.

"I don't want to hurt you!" Phantom lashed at her.

Kim simply gestured to her hands, "Could've fooled me."

She noticed his green orbs roll. "Don't you get it! I'm trying to get us out of this mess! Not further into it," the ghost reasoned. Oh no. there was no way Kim was going to fall for this act. She continued to loosen his grip on her.

But he just grabbed her again. She tried to pull away, and instead of the ghost releasing her like he had done countless times already, he looped an arm around her neck.

Kim – panicking – tried to get out of his grip, but it was too tight. She felt herself gasp for air, and couldn't believe this was the end of her. She clawed at his glove, but he was too strong and had a much better angle.

Kim began to see black dots and stars and her eyelids grew too heavy to bear. She resisted for as long as possible, but finally, she closed her eyes in a silent truce.

Danny had not meant for that to happen. She was struggling so hard, and wouldn't follow Danny. It got too complicated, so Danny just… lashed out.

He'd remembered reading somewhere that cutting off the blood flow to the brain could make a person pass out. Something to do with the carotid artery not being able to keep the brain active if you strangle the vein. It wasn't on purpose. She was going to be fine, right? Wasn't it Lancer who'd told his class that? She'd wake up in an hour or two tops. In the meantime, he would have to get her and himself somewhere out of this fog. Floating was beginning to be tiring. He wanted to feel the solid ground against his bare human feet, but he knew that wasn't an option right now. He still wasn't sure if he could trust Kim with his secret just because he knew hers.

With the Infi-Map still in the belt of his jumpsuit, Danny slung Kim across his body, and began flying through the green air. He had no clue where he was, but he knew that if he could just find a landmark then everything would be okay. Something familiar; something he could use to judge where he was exactly.

Ow.

Danny was pulled from his thoughts when a hard thing hit him in the head. He turned to the direction it seemed to be thrown, and found the object that had hit him.

And speaking of familiar, Danny had found the Boo-merang, or rather, it had found him. With a sigh of relief, Danny held it, and realized it had a GPS tracking device and a note attached to it. He reached for the GPS first, and pressed it on.

A lime green box appeared on the screen blinking, Enter Password. Danny hesitated. "Password?" he asked aloud. "This doesn't have a password. How am I supposed to know what it is?"

He opened the letter, hoping for a clue, and read it through and through, twice.

It was written by his sister, and she had underlined, the day this all began. That had to mean something. Perhaps something to do with the password.

He stared at the keyboard, and blanked. What began? What was happening? Did she mean when she found out about his powers or when she told him she had known for while? Or what about the day Kim came to town? But that would only work if she knew that Kim was the Girl in White.

He decided to think about it later. First, floating for so long was driving him further and further into exhaustion, and now Danny had a second person to hold. He had to find somewhere to sit down. He decided to head left, and hope for the best.

That was when he realized: he had the Infi-Map.

He thrust it out his belt, and pulled it open to reveal the glowing glory. "Lead me to somewhere I can rest," he begged, and felt the familiar tugging from his waist. He tightened his grip on Kim, and gave in to the suction.

When the feeling stopped, Danny realized he was on an oddly placed rock, but still surrounded by that dreadful green smoke that never seemed to end. There was nothing in any direction except for his asylum on which he placed Kim down and sat on himself.

He rolled onto the ground next to Kim, and wrapped his arms around the back of his head, expanding his chest so he could receive as much oxygen as possible.

He could only relax like that for a bit, however, because he still needed to further trap Kim. He'd have to figure out how to bind her to the rock, so she'd have nowhere to go. She would be forced to sit and talk to her enemy, and Danny would make sure all his questions were answered. He bound her ankles, and put another hoop of ectoplasm around her shoulders to push them together, and a final band around her waist over her hands, so she couldn't move her wrists around.

He laid her back down on the ground, and sat next to her. Slowly, her white suit retraced underneath the shirt she had been wearing when he had last seen her at lunch. Seeing her without her mask, Danny felt bad for everything he had to do, but it was necessary. Kim was too powerful. If she had more knowledge about ghosts, she may even be able to defeat him. But that didn't matter because, clearly, she hadn't.

Now, there was nothing to do but wait for the young ginger to rise, and once she did…

Her true test would begin.

A/N: So just as a heads up, I'm thinking that this FanFic is almost at a close (sad, I know. It's been a good run). I've already planned out the next few chapters, but of course, I'm not wedded to anything, so they are subject to change. As of right now, however, I'm thinking there will be another five chapters and then an epilogue, but we'll see how that goes.

For now, let me know how you liked this chapter!

Please review :)
