"You think he's going to make it?"

I glance over at the clock, "I honestly don't care. All I know is that when that clock hits 6, I'm going home."

I hear Iggy sneeze and blow her nose, "Oh come on Elizabeth, you can't still be frosty about him smacking you."

"Yes, yes I am. I literally had to hover over my seat because I couldn't sit down last period….THAT'S NOT FUNNY IGGY!"

A harsh shush sounds and I give an apologetic look to the librarian.

"I'm sorry Elizabeth, but it's a little funny."

I press the end call button on my phone and toss it in to my purse. I drum my fingers on the table ignoring the vibrations of Iggy calling me back. 5:59 One more minute and I'm home free.

"Hey beautiful."

Damn.

I sigh and turn taking in the sight before me.

His dark blue button up shirt brought out his deep cobalt eyes and his crisp creased black cargo pants fitted quite nicely. Overall he looks…..irresistible.

I stand, "You look…acceptable."

He raises an eyebrow, "Just acceptable? A minute ago your face looked as if you wanted to do nothing, but pounce on me."

I scoff, "Please, I would never."

"Not in public, maybe"

"Not anywhere."

"Oh come on, you're attracted to me and you know it."

"Be careful Bankotsu, that ego is making your head swell. I fear you won't be able to fit through the door soon."

I walk past him and out the door.

"Aww geez, you're still mad about that whole butt thing aren't you?"

I turn, "To barrow a term from Iggy, FROSTY!"

He beats me down the steps and stops in front of me, "Look I told you I have an issue with being ignored."

"And I have an issue with people who smack my bum!"

He lifts his hands to surrender, "Alright, alright! I'm sorry."

I blink not really expecting him to give up so easily, but then glare when realizing why he did, "Well damn, now I can't be mad at you anymore."

He smiles, "Exactly."

I roll my eyes at him as he continues down the steps.

"Where are you taking me?"

"To the school fair." He answers reaching the bottom and turning to look at me, "You look like you need some fun."

"And what's that supposed to mean?! I'll have you know I have tons of fun."

Banktosu crosses his arms not bothering to hide his disbelief, "Oh really? Like what?"

I smirk as I continue to descend the stairs, "Well, for starters, I have a tendency to select a random word from the dictionary and, after coming up with my own definition, I USE IT IN AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION!"

Bankotsu gives off a long gasp, "No!"

"Yes!" I begin to laugh, "Oh I've lost track of how many embarrassing moments I've had doing that. Oh, and on a good day, my eldest brother allows me to sip tea with him in the dining room as he silently reads the newspaper."

"How exciting…."

"Oh, oh, oh, and even though I am only allowed to play my violin for three hours, I tend to go six by playing softly."

"You little rebel." Bankotsu begins to laugh.

I drop my smile as I glare at him, "Are you mocking me?"

"Is it that obvious?" He asks laughing harder, and I hit him on the shoulder with my purse.

"Stop laughing this instant!" I hit him again.

"HAHAHA, I'm sorry, it's just….AHAHAH…you are so painfully sheltered that I don't know whether to laugh or be legitimately concerned."

"So you laugh?!"

"YeahAHAHAHAHA!" he says his face going red from laughing so hard.

I smack him with my purse again.

"Stop….ahahaha….stop hitting me…hahahaha."

"STOP LAUGHING!"

"But…hahahaha….it was sooo fucking funny hahahahahaha….ugh I can't breathe."

"I am not going to stand here and let you laugh at me!" I begin to walk away.

"Wait…wait hahaha….wait stop…stop. Ok, ok, I'm done….hahahahahahahaha. No really I'm done…wait! Ok…ok….ok…I'm done…for real."

I glare at him as he straightens himself and exhales as he wipes the tears from his eyes, "Ok, I'm sorry, but that was hilarious. I mean you ACTUALLY think that is fun."

"Everyone has their own perspective of what fun is, thank you very much!"

"Yeah, but yours is just sad."

"Oh Shut-up and call a bloody taxi already!"

"We're not taking a taxi."

"Well, I'm not walking from here to the school."

"Of course not."

"Then how on earth-" I stop finally noticing the vehicle behind him. It was a deep silver with blue streaks 2005 Yamaha motorcycle. My jaw slacks as I take in the absolute beauty of the bike before me as it gleams in the setting sun.

Bankotsu smiles and climbs on.

"Elizabeth, Banryuu. Banryuu, Elizabeth"

The bike roars to life and I take a startled step back.

"I'm not getting on that thing."

"Why not?"

I stamp my foot, "Do you have any idea what asphalt can do to flesh going fifty miles per hour. I mean even thirty can do some serious damage."

"Come on Elizabeth, don't worry. You're in perfectly good hands." He revs the bike and smiles at me.

A hard blush crosses my face despite myself. "I'm not getting on that death trap."

"Well how do you plan to get to the school? I know you're not walking and I'm not shelling out cash for a cab."

I glare at him before giving in with a sigh, "Well, do you at least have a helmet?"

"Nope"

"Oh great, not only is there a possibility of me being skinned alive, but now my head has the opportunity to bust open as well."

Bankotsu cuts the engine and walks over to me, "Alright, I get it. There are a million other things that you would prefer to do besides go out with me, but if you're really going to pull this whinny stuck up spoiled bitch routine on me, then our deal is off, and I'll annoy the hell out of you till graduation. Now do you really want that?"

I straighten my back a little stunned, "No."

He smiles, "I didn't thinks so. So, pull the massive stick out your ass and get on the damn bike so we can go."

I blink at him as he climbs back on the bike and brings it to life.

I cross my arms over my chest and walk up to him, "That is the first and the last time you will ever speak to me like that, got it."

"Are you getting on the bike or not?" He asks boredly.

I purse my lips together before sitting side saddle on the remaining part of the seat behind him.

"You're not riding like that."

"Why not?"

"Because there is a great chance that you'll fall off."

"Well how am I supposed to sit then?"

"You straddle it. The same way you would do a pedal bike."

"I'm in a dress. I'm not about to straddle anything!"

He doesn't move, and he doesn't say anything.

After a minute or two, I growl, slide off the bike and pull the back of my dress between my legs and bundle it with the front of my dress to simulate pants. I then, ungracefully, throw my leg over the bike.

"This is so humiliating. There are you happy now?"

"No"

"Well what now?!"

"You have to hold on."

"To what?"

"To me."

"You're lying!"

"No, there aren't any seat belts, so wrap your arms around me."

"NO"

His head drops, and I hear something between a growl and a frustrated sigh, "Damnit, is it really going to take an hour just for you to get on a fucking bike!? Wrap your arms around me now!"

"Say please."

"Mother….fine….please."

I begin to slide my arms around his waist, but as I do, he lets out a loud orgasmic moan at my touch. I pull away and lean back before smacking the laughing Bankotsu on the back.

"That's not funny you pervert."

"It's revenge for making me say please, now hold on."

"No."

"Suit yourself then."

He revs the bike and lifts up on one wheel. I scream and latch on to him as tightly as I can before he takes off down the road.

I squeal in to his back as he weaves in and out of traffic with car horns blaring all around us.

He's trying to kill me!

He makes a hard left and my legs barely miss the black asphalt. He pulls the bike up right again and speeds off leaving me to cling to him for dear life.

We make it to the fairgrounds in, surprisingly, one peace. I slide off the bike, trembling, and begin to walk towards the ticket booth.

"Elizabeth! Hey! Wait!"

I keep going my eyes focused on the many rotating bright lights of the rides. He grabs my hand, and I swing with the other. The smack connects, and he takes a surprised step back.

"Don't ever drive like that again when I am with you!"

He glares at me ready to reply, but stops when he notices my trembling hand. He sighs as he takes both my hands and rubs them between his.

He kisses my knuckles.

"I'm sorry." He mutters pulling me closer to him. One of his hands was on the small of my back and the other was stroking my hair. For some odd reason, this made me feel better.

I relaxed slightly and closed my eyes inhaling his cologne.

It was that popular one I always smell at the mall and see on T.V. What was the name…..saw?….blade?….hatchet?

My eyes snap open when I realize how long we have been like this, and I pull away.

I turn to hide the blush that was rushing across my face, "I'm sorry for slapping you."

"It's cool," he says casually as he walks ahead and buys our tickets. "So far all the hits you've given me were pretty justified, but don't get used to it."

He smiles and I look away trying to bite back my own.

As we walk around my eyes fall from vendor to vendor as they try to pull us in to play their games.

"I've never been to a fair before." I state absent-mindedly as I spot some friends and wave.

"Really, they don't have fairs back in England?"

"They do, but it's usually hosted by humans, so I could never go."

He passes a stick covered with blue fuzz to me and pockets his change, "Any particular reason as to why your family hates humans so much?"

"Because my mother is….um….old school? We're full-blooded demons, so we usually don't socialize with humans."

"So your mom thinks she's better than us?"

"Basically."

"Do you believe that?"

"I used to." I admit softly as I stare at the ground.

"What changed?"

I look up at him debating, "…..I'm sorry, but this is distracting me. What is it?"

He laughs as he takes the blue fuzzy sick away from me, "It's called cotton candy."

"Well which is it cotton or candy?"

"Both."

"How can it be both?"

"It's not technically both. Cotton describes the candy." He sighs seeing my face, "Ok see, what happens is they have this huge thing where they pour sugar in- 'cause this is all sugar- and it spins around really fast-like and it melts the sugar, but it also cools it at the same time making it do this cotton like deal. Then they wrap the cotton like sugar on paper cones and sell it."

"…I have no idea what you just said."

"Just try it. It's really good."

I watch him horrified as he takes a pinch and pops it in his mouth. He motions for me to try, and I take a pinch and place it in my mouth. It disappears immediately and I gasp.

"Where did it go?"

He laughs, "It dissolves, so you're going to have to try a bigger piece than that." He rips off a larger piece and hands it to me. I bite into it and cringe.

"It's like eating blueberry flavored hair." I hand to the piece back to him and scrape my tongue against the roof of my mouth, trying to get the taste out.

Bankotsu mutters something the sounds like 'cute', but I am not completely sure.

"Oh, hey! They have a roller coaster!" He chucks the bare paper cone in the trash, and pulls me towards the line.

I look up in horror as the massive train speeds along the rickety tracks. Screams and shouts of its patrons pierce the night air.

"I am not getting on that."

"What why?"

"No"

"Oh come on Elizabeth don't be a chicken."

"What does a farm fowl have anything to do with my refusal to get on that monstrosity?"

"It means don't be scared, England."

My heart sinks a little as I turn to see Jewel, arms crossed and wearing a very short layered dark green ruffled skirt, a green tank top, and black leather jacket.

"Of course," she continues pushing me out of the way, and latching on to Bankotsu's arm, "if you're scared you can always stay here, and I'll join Bankotsu on the ride."

I stare at the way she was clinging to his arm and suddenly I was angry. My stare turns in to a glare and before I knew it, I push her over and slip my arm in the crook of Bankotsu's.

"I am not scared, and your services are not need, so why don't you return to that street corner you came from." Bankotsu laughs, and Jewel glares as she raises her hand.

"You little-"

Bankotsu catches her slap before to could connect, "Do you really think that's a wise choice?"

Jewel glares as she snatches her hand from him and looks at me with a sick sweet smile, "Banktosu won't always be there to protect you."

I suddenly begin to laugh as the line moves forward, "Aww, that's cute. You actually think I need him to protect me." I step closer to Jewel and return her smile, "I highly advise that you do not mistake my manners for weakness, because you do not want to challenge me head on."

The smile never leaves Jewel's lips, "Oooo, am I supposed to be scared?"

"If you are wise."

Jewel rolls her eyes and turns hitting me in the face with her hair, "I'll see you later, Bankotsu."

I watch as she disappears in to the crowd and I turn, "How on earth did you date that for as long as you did."

Bankotsu shrugs as we take our seats on one of the cars, "I don't know really….it's all a huge blur."

We jerk forwards, and my attention focuses on my current predicament, "Oh…oh no…no I was just talking I don't really want to ride this."

"Well it's a bit late for that." Bankotsu says as we continue to climb up the track hill.

"No…no…no…Bankotsu get me off. GET ME OFF RIGHT NOW!"

"I can't. Calm down. It'll be over in like two minutes."

My throat starts to close as we inch closer to the top, "Bankotsu….."

"Yeah?"

"….I am deathly afraid of heights."

He looks at me and concern crosses his face, "Oh."

We reach the very top and a whimper escapes me. He grabs one of my hands with both of his and very gently he says, "Close your eyes and count slowly to fifty. No matter what you feel or what you hear, don't open your eyes until I tell you to ok?"

I shake my head and grasp one of his hands. "1…" I feel ourselves moving forward. "2…." We begin to pick up speed. "3….." We fall.

I slam the stall door open and collapse to my knees just as the vile passes my lips. I dry heave for a minute before resting my head on the cool commode not caring have absolutely disgusting that was.

My hands trembled as I grabbed some tissue and wiped my mouth. What was I thinking getting on a ride like that. I sit back and lean to the side resting my head against one of the stall walls. I wasn't thinking….I just wanted her to go away….to stop holding him like that…..My eyes snap open,

"No….no….uh-uh, I did not just think that." I stand, flush the toilet and turn the faucet on. I swished some water around my mouth before spitting and then splashed some cold water on my face.

"Nope…did not just think that."

I run my fingers through my hair and stare at my reflection, "Nope."

I wipe my mouth and lean closer to the mirror. "You were not jealous, Elizabeth." I say in a soft whisper.

"To be jealous means…..to have…" I lean back.

"Nope." I brush the wrinkles out of my dress before turning to walk out the door.

"Nope."

I drag Bankotsu towards the spinning tea cup ride when I feel him jolt to a stop, "Fuck no"

"What?"

"I'm not getting on those."

"Why not?"

"I have a reputation to uphold. If anyone sees me on that thing I'm going to have to beat up at least five people to balance it out. Maybe six. All at once."

I roll my eyes, "I got on the roller coaster."

"I didn't make you do that. You did that because you were jealous."

"I was not jealous!"

"Yeah you were. I saw it on your face as soon as Jewel grabbed me."

"I….no….no, I was…no…not jealous….no!"

Bankotsu smiles as he crosses his arms, "Jealous"

"No, I was not jealous…..I just really hate her."

"Riiiight, well I'm still not getting on those, so find something else."

"Fine, what do you want to ride, besides that damn roller coaster again."

He thinks for a minute and then smiles.

"That's strike one."

"What? I didn't even say anything."

"You thought it."

"Thought what?"

"That if you couldn't ride the coaster again, you would want to ride me."

He falls quiet, "Damn…you're good."

"No, I just figured how your pervert mind works.

I walk towards the game stations and look over their prizes, "Want anything?"

I think for a minute and shake my head, "Not much of a stuffed animal kind of girl."

"Ok then," He laces his fingers together, "What was England like growing up?"

I look over at him as we walk and clasp my hands behind my back, "Well not all that exciting really. I was home schooled by the finest demon tutors available. I was never allowed to go out without some sort of body guard and I stuck to a very rigorous schedule from sunrise to sunset."

"Geez, so you've never went to any parties and stuff like that?"

"If you count charity banquets and fundraisers, then yes."

"Those aren't parties. Those are gatherings for old people."

"Then no."

"So you moved out here to get away?"

"Sort of. I'm staying with my brothers, so they won't kill each other. What about you? Do you have any siblings?"

Bankotsu glances over at me, "A little sister."

"Aww."

"No, don't aww. She's creepy as hell."

"What? That's mean. Yeah, she may be annoying, believe me Inuyasha drives me up a wall, but you don't see me calling him names."

Bankotsu grabs my arm gently forcing me to face him, "No Elizabeth….she. is. CREEPY as fuck. She had me read The Shining to her as a bed time story."

"Oh."

"Yeah," We continue walking, "but I love that about her. You should see her on the playground. All the other kids scatter like roaches every time she gets near them. It's hilarious."

"That's terrible. Doesn't she feel left out?"

"Honestly, I don't think she feels anything, but she is a demon so I don't really know."

"So….she's adopted?"

"No…..I am."

I watch as he keeps his eyes ahead, "May I ask what happened to your parents?"

"They died." He says non-chalantly, "My foster parents are assholes. Kagura gets wasted and Naraku….well…..he's like a mayor or something. I don't know. Hey! Let's get on that!"

He grabs me and drags me to a ride with the sign SPIDER flashing in orange and yellow lights. He helps in to the cart and pulls the safety bar down.

"So tell me," he begins with a smile, "even though you're a demon, why are you so scared of Jewel."

I bite back a smile as I hit him, "She does not scare me!"

Much to my displeasure, I had a lot of fun with Bankotsu. We each choose six rides and all though I only rode three of Bankotsu's, I managed, with a few bats of my eyelashes, to get him to ride all of mine. I ate strange foods like dogs of corn and even something called funnel cake-although it look nothing like a cake much less a funnel.

I sit down on the bench to give my feet a rest.

"So what now?"

I shrug as I place the cardboard box in my lap. Opening it, I carefully pull out the baby duck that Bankotsu had won me.

"What are you going to name it?"

I gently stroke its soft feathers, and it cheeps at me, "hmmm," I lift it up and examine him for a second, "Taco."

Bankotsu stares at me, "I'm afraid to ask, but why taco?"

"Because he looks like a taco."

"How?"

"I don't know he just does."

"Do you even know what a taco is?"

"No, but I don't have too."

"But how can you-"

"He's my duck, and if I want to call him Taco I will."

Bankotsu shakes his head and chuckles as I place taco back in to his temporary cardboard home.

"So?"

"So what?" I ask placing the box next to me.

"Don't 'so what' me. You had fun didn't you?"

I stare straight ahead for a minute before looking down, "I suppose so." I says plucking some lint from my dress.

Bankotsu leans closer to me and grabs my one of my hands.

"Yes or no?"

I turn away from him and stand, "It was a tolerable night. Now take me home."

"So you had fun, which means I win."

"I didn't say I had fun."

"But you didn't say you didn't have fun."

"But I didn't say I did."

"So what are you saying then?"

"I'm saying….that….perhaps….you are…..not a repulsive as I first considered."

"Gee, thanks."

He throws his arms over the back of the bench and glares at the night sky. I softly sigh and consider the evening. I did have fun and I did enjoy his company.

I sigh a little louder, swallow my pride, and VERY lightly kiss him on the cheek. This catches him off guard, and he blinks at me.

"You were right. I had fun, and you're not such a bad guy after all."

He smiles, "See, I knew you'd fall for me."

"Um, I said nothing of the sort."

"You didn't have to." He stands and returns my kiss, "Actions speak louder than words."

"You are looking far too deeply in that mercy peck."

"Sure I am. Tell me, how long have you held back the urge to kiss me huh?"

"Oh, shut-up and take me and taco home." I grab taco's box and we walk towards the exit.

"Really, what kind of name is taco for a duck?"

"A damn good one."

"Nah, see what you should do is when he gets bigger, dye him black and call him Duck Vador."

"What?!"
