Lia's POV
I woke to the sound of a heartbeat. Being raised around the supernatural had taught me to recognize people based on their heartbeats. Just waking up from a power nap didn't change this habit. I immediately started to deduce who could be in my bedroom.
This particular heartbeat was slightly faster then a normal humans, signaling that it belonged to a supernatural being. Dead things don't have heartbeats, so vampires and hybrids were out. I've knew it belonged to a witch automatically, because werewolves stunk of sweat and raw meat. They were fairly easy to distinguish.
I also recognized this heartbeat for a different reason. Davina Claire was, for lack of a better word, my sister. She was my confidant, my protector, and my worst enemy all rolled into one. She was the only one who I wanted to hug and strangle with equal passion. I also knew that if she was here, things were really bad.
"You can stop pretending to be asleep now." she said and I heard the smile in her voice. I groaned loudly and rolled over determined not to show my panic over the current situation. I smiled at the sight of her leaning on my door frame and slowly sat up, stretching my hands over my head.
"Hey." I said stifling a yawn.
"Hey." She replied a small smile on her face. I ran my fingers through my tangled hair and winced when they caught a snag.
"Need a hairbrush?" She questioned chuckling. I glared at her.
"Yes please." I said. She nodded and walked the distance to my vanity table to grab it. Then she came to the bed and sat down handing me the brush. I quickly ran it through my knots before placing it on my nightstand. I wasn't quite ready to get out of bed yet.
"So how have you been?" Davina asked. She said it sarcastically but I heard the genuine curiosity. I snorted. "Right, stupid question. We'll talk about me instead." I laughed again.
"Ok fine. How's your boyfriend?" I asked, knowing there was nothing she loved to talk about more.
"Amazing." She said beaming. "You would love him. I mean you are so similar. You even kinda look the same. Unfortunetly he's being an ass as of late." I raised my eyebrows. "Well, you know Josh right?" I nodded my head to nod that yes I knew Josh. He was a friend in NOLA. "Well we were at my apartment when..." And so it began.
From there she proceeded to tell me how a jealous Michael (her boyfriend) threatened Josh for moving in on his girl, even though he knew Josh was gay. I found the entire story ridiculous, but she giggled and smiled the entire time. I, of course, didn't say anything for her sake. My gut said shit was about to hit the fan and I wanted to be happy with my friend for a while before it did.
"What about NOLA?" I asked abbreviating.
"Well last month some really cute boy visited. I can't remember his name, but he was a glorious kisser. Tramon maybe? Or was it Trammen?" My stomach dropped and I physically paled.
"Trammel?" I asked. She snapped her fingers as if a light bulb had just gone off.
"That's what it was!" She exclaimed. "Yeah, we had lots of fun." She waggled her eyebrows at me suggestively. Then, to my surprise as well as hers I slapped Davina hard across the face.
Caroline's POV
"Your insane." Stefan said looking me square in the eye. "You too." He added glancing at my husband. Klaus just smiled. We were all aware off this fact.
"I know..." I started before he cut me off.
"She'll never go for it."
"She doesn't have to mate." Klaus pointed out helpfully. "I have no qualms about binding and gagging her if it means she's safe."
"You will do no such thing." I said giving him a look. "Stefan all I'm asking you to do is look out for her. Once they're in Venice, you can come back and nobody has to know. I don't trust anybody else with this." I looked pleadingly at my best friend.
"So you want me to trail them to Venice in the case that something happens,"
"Which it won't." Klaus interjected. Stefan glared at him.
"Without them knowing and then coming back once they get there."
"Yes." I said. He still didn't look sure. "Stefan she is all I have." I whispered, tears welling in my eyes. I wouldn't lose my daughter. Not to a bunch of witches.
"Ok." He said smiling at me. "I got you Care. No one will touch them." I didn't say anything, I only closed our distance and hug him tight. "I love her too, you know." He whispered in my ear, holding me close.
"Not as much as I do." I replied. He pulled back and smiled at me before leaving. I turned to face my husband. "How long do you think she'll have to be gone for?"
"If these are New Orleans witches as the mutt suggested, we have to remove her from the situation. It could take a while to deal with."
"She's going to hate us." I sighed sadly. If I knew my daughter, which I did, she would not appreciate being left out of the plan.
"Better that than her be dead." I nodded.
"I'm going to miss her." I said sighing sadly.
"I will too." He replied wrapping his arms around my shoulders.
Trammel's POV
I sat on my bed in the guest room and looked around. Unable to hold out anymore, I pulled my necklace out from under my shirt. It looked simple enough. A black cord with the Chinese symbol for yang hanging from it. Lia, of course, had yin. I remembered buying this necklace for her.
Flashback
The Mikaelsons were on vacation in California. Mrs. Mikaelson had let me tag along for reasons unknown to me or Mr. Mikaelson. Lia had snuck out with me to go swimming at the beach. We never did end up swimming, but we had fun shopping with her moms credit card we had swiped. Lots of ice cream and six carnival rides later we were ready to go home. Walking down the pier hand in hand, for protection of course, I felt content and truly happy for once. Until of course, Miss Gilbert came for us.
We decided to ransack one more cart since Elena seemed to be walking at a leisurely pace. Lia decided it had to be the over decorated Chinese cart with fake umbrellas. She picked out the necklace set. I asked the salesman how much for it he just waved his hand at me and winked. I quickly gave her half but she gave it back telling me to enchant it with special magic. Naturally, I promised I would.
That night I stole one of Lias' aunts' grimoires an did just that. I had no idea what it did but I had lost all of my energy so it must of worked. I gave it to her the next day and smiled when she hugged me before running back to her house. She was grounded till the end of time for running off and scaring her mother like that.
As soon as she left I felt the necklace warm. When I touched it, I could feel Lia. Not like read her mind or anything, but like I knew. She was happy. Ecstatic in fact. I could feel it. I also knew exactly where she was. In her bedroom sitting on her bed. When I concentrated I saw images. Her walking down the pier holding my hand. Her fingers had tingled when I held her hand. I knew exactly what she was thinking! I immediately pulled back not wanting to invade her privacy like that. I would have to tell her about this!
Flashback
We were twelve when that happened. To this day I still use the necklace to check on her. I never used the mind reading again and I never needed to. We also discovered that we could talk to each other through them if we both focused.
I felt the familiar rush of magic and warmth as I reached out to her. Lia was pissed. She was also hurt, emotionally. She felt betrayed and jealous? I focused on that emotion and then pulled back realizing what I was doing, but not before I caught an image.
Me and a girl a little older than me stood kissing. She had dark hair and looked to be about sixteen. I remembered her. We had made out on a dare in New Orleans. Why would that make Lia jealous? Before I could analyze the situation a knock sounded outside my door.
"Come in!" I yelled assuming it was Lia. I wasn't quite ready to forgive her for going to New Orleans without me, but I wasn't going to turn her away. I swiveled on the bed to face the doorway and was surprised to Caroline standing there.
"Hey Mrs. Mikaelson." I said politely. She gave me a look.
"You know you can call me Caroline right?" I nodded that I did, I just normally chose not to.
"Is there something I can do for you?" I asked. I liked her well enough, but being alone with her was just a little awkward.
"Actually yes," she said, "but Lia's not going to like it. It will keep her safe, but she could very possibly hate you."
"Tell me how I can help." I said immediately. Lia's safety was more important to me than her happiness. Caroline sighed in relief.
"Well first I need you to find me a spell."
Davina's POV
My face hurt. In fact, I was fairly certain I had a hand print across my face. Lia gasped and moved her hands over her mouth a look of complete horror in her eyes.
"I am so sorry." She said frantically. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me." I knew exactly what had come over her.
"Would you happen to know Trammel?" I asked carefully. She nodded. "Well then, all is forgiven." It was obvious that she liked this boy and I would've done the same thing over Michael. I stood up and brushed off my lavender dress.
"Where are you going?" Lia asked, but remained planted on the bed.
"To see Elijah and Rebekah. It's been long enough and I believe they deserve an explanation." She looked confused by my statement and i put a hand up to signal I didn't want to talk about it. I gave her a smile and left rubbing my cheek as I went.
I found myself in the foyer a couple of minutes later. I needed to talk with Elijah and Rebekah and this seemed like the place to find them.
"Now what's a pretty young thing like you doing in here by yourself?" A smooth voice asked. My senses said Original.
"Kol Mikaelson." I said turning on my heel to face him. I was met with an impish grin and eyes that promised trouble.
"The one and only." he replied, his grin widening. "You must be Davina. My siblings have said such wonderful things about you."
"Davina?" a voice asked. I looked over Kols shoulder to see Rebekah and Elijah smiling. I smiled back.
"I guess I have some explaining to do?"
Lia's POV
Something was up. I could feel it. Davina was here which was already a bad sign. Plus, when I left my bedroom to get some cookies (I know, I know, its an addiction) I ran into Uncle Steffy. He eyed me warily before nodding a hello and abruptly leaving. Mom did the exact same thing when I ran into her on my way back. I paced my room trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I even went so far as to see if Trammel knew but there was a block on his mind. When my dad creaked my door open and came into my room I immediately bombarded him with questions.
"What the hell?" I asked. "Why is everyone acting like I'm about to murder them or something?"
"Language." he said, "and were not acting like your a murderer."
"Dad," I warned, "Don't play with me. I'm confused and scared and quite frankly just want to know what's going on."
"You're leaving." he stated, always straight to the point.
"You're as in just me?" I asked.
"No...the witches and Rebekah will be going with you."
"Okay. I'm guessing there's more?"
"Yes." I raised my eyebrows in a 'continue' gesture. "You're going to be gone for over a year."
"I what?"
Alright, so there it is. As always review and I love you guys!
