A/N This is set the same time as Chapter 8 but is Sam and Gabriel's side of the story.
Sam sat in the bunker's library typing away on his beloved laptop. However, for a change he wasn't researching mystery homicides or supernatural sightings, he was actually searching for local restaurants and entertainment. He knew Dean wouldn't be interested in going out as he was spending a lot of time with Castiel like usual, but Sam needed to get out of the bunker. As homely and safe the bunker was, it was getting annoying being stuck there day in day out so he decided to go out and do something different. The only problem was that he had no idea what he wanted to do, especially considering the lack of things to do in the surrounding area. There were a few restaurants and one pub and that seemed to be it, and he didn't want to go to any of those by himself and be seen to be a loner.
Suddenly, Sam was brought out his thoughts by a loud whooshing noise as his laptop was flung across the room by some mysterious force, smashing against the wall and Sam could hear the screen crack. The younger Winchester stood up, surprised and annoyed as he looked towards the source of this unexpected blast. "Gabriel? What the hell man? Couldn't you just walk into a room like everybody else? Instead of ruining everything I'm doing?!" Sam yelled at Gabriel, annoyed.
"Sorry Sammy Boy! Didn't see you there." Gabriel cheekily smirked at Sam and didn't look in the least bit apologetic. Sam would probably have been worried if he did though. He guessed the 'sorry' face on Gabriel would look very out of place.
"Sure you didn't, Gabe." Sam retorted sarcastically.
"Okay, you caught me. I just came in to see what you're up to. Nothing mysterious I promise, Moose, I just messed up my flying a bit. Oops." Gabriel spoke, still grinning like a five year old.
"Well seen as you broke my laptop, you can come out with me a get me a brand new updated version. Touch screen."
"Well aren't you a bossy one eh? But sure, Sammy, anything for you." Gabriel replied quickly. "We don't have to go out though, I mean I can just make you another computer right here if you want. And it won't even be an illusion. It'll be the real thing, you have my word." He looked quite proud of himself as he talked to Sam, but the hunter didn't look too impressed with him.
"No, I want to look for one myself to decide exactly what I want. I deserve at least that much for what you did to my computer."
"Okay, I'll tell you what; we'll go out to a tech store and get you your much loved laptop, then…" Gabriel paused for a moment as he thought of what else he could do for Sam but that would also benefit himself. "… I'll buy you dinner at some fancy restaurant and my debt to you will be cleared. Sound good?"
"Fair enough I guess. Hang on, dinner? Like just dinner, or like dinner as in a date…?" Sam cursed himself the moment that came out of his mouth. What was he thinking asking that? Of course it was just a meal dammit.
"Why, Sammy, what would make you think I meant it as a date?" Gabriel paused for a moment to think and Sam blushed bright red and turned his slightly away. "I wasn't intentionally coming on to you, so maybe it was my angel pheromones and my sexy body." Gabe dragged out the 'y' sound on 'body' to make Sam realise he was just kidding around, hopefully he should relax around him more now instead of being this uptight, tense hunter all the time.
"N-nothing." Sam managed to squeeze out while blushing furiously. Sam looked away from Gabe as much as he could trying to find the corner of the room an interesting place to stare at.
"Are you sure Moosey? You seem awfully quiet now. I mean, if it makes you feel any better I was actually planning on asking you out on a date. But I wasn't planning it this soon." Gabriel could see Sam's head suddenly start to move back in his direction again, listening to what the angel had to say.
"You were?" Sam asked, curious.
"Yeah, Sam. Like I told you before about that stronger bond I share with you and with how down right sexy you are, how could I not?!" Gabriel spoke, edging towards Sam slightly, shocked at how surprised the Moose was.
"But you do know I'm not gay, right?" Sam asked.
"You might not be but that didn't stop you from assuming I was asking you out on a date, or from blushing like a sexy little school girl when you thought about the possibility of going on a date with another guy." Gabriel answered, full of pride.
"That's different though, Gabe. You're an angel; Dean always says it's not gay if it's with an angel." Sam retorted.
"Sammy Boy, have you ever thought about why he says that? Ever think it might be because he's in love with my little bro in the other room?" Gabriel responded, realising that the hunter really was oblivious as to what was going on between their brothers.
"What, Cas? No he's not! You're just being delusional. We're both just really close to Castiel, Dean especially. But it's not like they have a relationship, just a profound bon–" Sam paused and looked Gabriel dead in the eye. "Oh. Oh my God. How the hell did I not see that?"
"You're just too close to them both Samoose, it takes an outsider's view to see that that your big brother is totally gay for my little brother." Gabriel carried on smiling as he spoke in a singsong way. Sam was convinced that Gabe never stopped smiling or grinning. He did it constantly.
"So, does Cas know Dean likes him?" Sam asked curiously.
"Probably not, he seems oblivious to a lot of things to be honest, but I don't know if something happened when they were drunk, I mean I did see them about to kiss but I don't think anything happened." Gabriel told him.
"Gabe, I know what we should do!" Sam exclaimed excitedly.
"What, Sammy…? I'm not used to seeing you look mischievous, what are you planning?" Gabe asked curiously.
"We should set them up! We need to get them together then Dean might stop being such an arse all the time and maybe he'll start being happy." Sam concluded.
"Wow, you're definitely learning from me well; this is going to be awesome!" Gabriel started jumping up and down like an excited little child and Sam just stood and stared at the trickster, he really was excited.
"Well, now that we have that sorted, do you wanna actually go out somewhere, Gabe?"
"Yeah, sounds awesome." Gabriel smiled as he reached towards Sam and placed two of his dinky fingers on Sam's forehead, zapping them to a computer shop for Sam to look for a laptop.
After a while of searching for what computer Sam wanted, he eventually found the perfect one for him and it happened to be the most expensive one there. Not that that bothered either of them. After all Sam wasn't spending any money and Gabriel could just whip a couple of thousand dollars up with one click of his fingers.
They bought the laptop and Gabriel zapped it safely back to the bunker, but as soon as that was done, Sam started acting sort of nervous and this had Gabriel confused as to why. That was, until Sam spoke up. "So, Gabe. You owe me dinner."
"Dammit I thought you'd forgotten! How much money am I gonna have to spend on you today?" Gabe asked, feigning being annoyed at the younger Winchester.
"We don't have to go out y'know Gabe. You were the one who suggested it so it's up to you." Sam said truthfully but wanting an out at the last minute because he didn't know if this was a good idea or not.
"Don't forget that you were the one who suggested it could be a date, Sasquatch. But like I'm gonna say no now, I mean I've already paid a shit tonne for a damn computer for you. Even without a date you should be putting out tonight." Gabriel grinned again.
"Gabriel, if you hadn't smashed up my damn laptop in the first place I wouldn't have needed a new one! So don't you dare turn this back on me!" Sam half shouted, annoyed but only being playfully annoyed.
"Okay Gigantor, but only because I do actually wanna go on a date with you." Gabriel looked Sam in the eyes to check that this is definitely what he wanted, before carrying on speaking. "Now, grab my hand and I'll zap us somewhere nice to eat."
"Why do I need to hold your hand though, Gabe? Can't you just do the thing with two fingers?"
"Oo-er, Sammy, getting kinky already huh?" Gabe quipped.
"Knock it off, Gabriel, you know what I meant." Sam retorted.
"Yeah I did." Gabriel admitted. "But Sammy your hands are so big and manly, why can't I hold them?" With that comment Gabriel pulled the saddest looking puppy dog eyes that even beat Sam's sad face, making Sam give in to the angel and grabbed his hand.
Gabriel's face immediately lit up and he grinned. "Yay, good Moose!" He spoke as he tightened his grip on Sam's hand and zapped them to a fancy looking restaurant that wasn't too posh but it wasn't scrubby either. They were seated at their table and they began looking at the menu.
With Gabriel's light hearted nature and funny quirks, Sam was feeling comfortable in no time as they sat at their table eating. Sam was really starting to like the angel the more he got to know him, even though he knew what he was capable of and what he had done in the past. They ate their dinner and chatted about anything and everything and just enjoyed their date. The whole thing went a lot better than Sam was expecting and even though he'd never really had a crush on Gabe beforehand, he would admit he kind of did now. The Archangel Gabriel was definitely growing on him and he didn't seem to mind one bit.
