A/N: Sooooo it's been awhile! I got a little wrapped up in my other CM casefile fic. I haven't forgotten about this one though! I'm just a horrible procrastinator some months. Anyway, here you are! Enjoy!
Disclaimer: See Chapter 1.
Emily groaned at the sound of her alarm clock and rolled over to silence it. She yawned loudly and stretched, letting the events of the previous day slowly come back into her mind. Part of her wanted to continue lying there, but she didn't want to be late. Hotch hated being late.
The man in question was in the other room. She could hear him in the kitchen and she wondered if he had gotten any sleep. She swung her legs out of her bed and pulled her robe on.
"Good morning," Hotch said quietly as she padded out into the living room with her pink slippers on. She stifled another yawn and smiled at him.
"Hey, I hope you got some sleep." Emily peeked through one of her windows. "Looks pretty gloomy out there. Fitting for the occasion I suppose."
"It's always gloomy in London, Emily." Hotch was still in his pajama pants and sweatshirt. "And I did manage to get a few hours. I don't think we'll be getting much sleep over the next couple of days."
Emily nodded and joined him in the kitchen, pouring herself a cup of coffee. "Thanks, I forgot to set the timer last night."
"It was no problem." Hotch refilled his cup and took a sip. "We have about an hour or so before we need to be in."
"Do you want to shower first? I'll take longer. Then we can grab something to eat on the way in."
"Sounds like a plan." He walked over to his bag and pulled out a tactical uniform that Dr. Wagner had given them the day previous. "I guess we're expected to wear these?"
"That's what he said. Something about special camouflage?" Emily pulled out two towels from the hall closet. "Here. Do you need anything else?"
Hotch held up his shaving kit. "No I'm good. I'll be five minutes."
Emily showed him into her room. "It's just through there." She pointed to a door beside her closet. She walked over to her bed and started to fix the blankets.
"I'll be out shortly." The profiler in him couldn't help itself. Hotch took a quick scan of Emily's bedroom on his way to the bathroom, noticing the pictures of the team that were prevalent on her bookshelf by her bed. He gave her a small smile and disappeared into the bathroom.
While Hotch was showering, Emily pulled out her packed bag and tactical uniform. She was arranging everything on the bed when her phone rang. She checked the caller I.D. and smiled. "Hey JJ."
"What is this I hear about you and boss man running off into the jungle?" Jennifer Jareau's voice was thick with a teasing tone.
"Pfft hardly. And it's not the jungle, it's an island." Emily sat on her bed, listening to make sure Hotch was in the shower still. She didn't want him overhearing anything he shouldn't.
"I asked Garcia to look up satellite photos and it looked like a lot of trees to me. Aaron Hotchner and Emily Prentiss, Dinosaur Hunters Extraordinaire." JJ laughed quietly. Emily smiled at the sound of her friend's voice. "You're bringing a lot of guns right?"
"Seems that way," Emily answered. "How are Henry and Will?"
"Henry is doing great. He's growing up so fast. Will's doing well too, he's actually up for a promotion soon. You'll have to come for a visit when you get back."
"You mean if I get back. Assuming Hotch doesn't let me get eaten by anything." Emily frowned at the silence on the other end. "Hey, I was just kidding around."
"I know. It's just scary to know you'll be going out there," JJ said seriously. "But Hotch will have your back. Everything will be fine."
"I hope so," Emily said, hearing the water stop in the bathroom. "And you know how much I trust him." The fact that the man in the other room had saved her life at the threat of losing the trust of the rest of his team spoke volumes to her."Anyways, let's stop being so depressing. I will let you know when we're back and I'll book a flight back to the States."
"Great, I'm looking forward to it. I've got to let you go now Em, but promise me you'll stay safe out there."
"I will hun, thanks for the call. I miss you. Give Henry a kiss for me." Emily felt her eyes start to water and she wiped tears away as she noticed Hotch coming out of the bathroom. "Bye, Jayje."
"Love you, bye." The call ended and Emily turned to give Hotch a watery smile.
"Are you alright?" He was towel drying his hair with one hand and staring at her.
"I'm fine. JJ just called to check in on me." She got up from her bed and grabbed her towel. "I'll be about twenty minutes. Help yourself to whatever you need in the meantime."
Hotch put a hand on her arm, and she turned to look at him. "It's going to be fine Emily. We'll be fine."
She gave him a wide smile and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze before letting it go. "I know. I'm ok." She turned into the bathroom and left him standing in her bedroom.

Hotch looked up as Emily came breezing into the kitchen. "Hey, I was just going over the files again. Looks like Maggie has had a few years of tactical training. There's a good chance she's still alive."
"I hope so." Emily dropped her bag by the front door. "She deserves the satisfaction of seeing Pincher in handcuffs after what he did to those men and women."
Hotch nodded in agreement. "Do you think he's working with Downey or just using him to get what he needs?"
Emily shrugged. "Honestly both situations are plausible from the little that we know. But we can't take any risks. I think we should treat them both as hostiles and they can be tried when we drag their asses back to London."
"I agree." Hotch looked at his watch. "We should get going if we're going to grab something to eat on the way." He zipped his suitcase shut. "Would you mind if I left this here? I'm just bringing my duffel bag."
"Sure, leave it by the couch if you like. I'm all set." She pulled on her boots and started lacing them up.
Hotch waited by the door until Emily was finished, and followed her out of the small apartment. She locked the door and gave him a smile, which he returned. "Lead the way."
Emily nodded and ushered him down the hallway. "There's a cafe downstairs with amazing baking. We can grab something from there if that works."
"Sounds fine." He followed her down the stairs, his bag swung over his shoulder. He nodded his thanks as she held the door for him.
"It's just right over here." She pointed to a small cafe in the next building over. "The chocolate croissants are to die for, FYI."
He opened the door for her to return the favour, and the smell of fresh baked goods wafted through. His mouth started to water. "Smells amazing."
"Smells as good as it tastes, trust me." Emily gave the cashier a smile and ordered for herself. "Aaron?"
"I'll get the same." He shuffled his bag and pulled out his wallet, throwing down a ten pound note. "Keep the change."
"Thank you sir." The cashier smiled widely at the generous tip. "That'll be one minute. Your coffees will be up right over here."
Emily shot him a look. "You didn't have to pay for mine."
He winked at her. "The words you're looking for are 'thank you'."
"Thank you." She rolled her eyes jokingly. "I really appreciate it though."
"It was nothing." He passed her coffee order to her with a smile. Their croissants were called and he picked them up from the cashier.
"Walk and eat?" Emily asked. She swung her bag around so that it was sitting against her back and wouldn't get in the way.
"Sure, we have about fifteen minutes." Hotch took a bit out of his croissant. "You weren't kidding. I could eat these every day."
"I told you! So good." Emily waved to the cashier and followed Hotch out onto the street. "We're only a ten minute walk away so there's plenty of time."
Hotch walked next to her as they ate. They didn't talk much, except for Hotch occasionally commenting on the trendy styles of the houses they passed. He scoffed at Emily as she told them the cost for owning such a property and she laughed. It was just like the past. He was always so guarded at work and she cherished the times they were able to go out with the team so he would let his walls down. And they had had some great times, and some pretty crazy experiences. But that was then, and this was now.
They arrived at the gates to Interpol and she scanned her ID, waving at the guard as she led Hotch inside. She looked up to the roof and saw the government chopper that was going to transport them to their location. Her stomach twisted slightly with anxiety, but she saw Hotch staring at her again and she mustered up a smile to ease his worrying.
"Good morning Emily!" Emily turned to see Tintin in the lobby, waiting for the elevator. "Did you get any sleep? Boy, did I ever have a hard time." Snowy barked at her and licked her hand. "Looks like he's happy to see you."
Emily patted the dog on the head. "We managed to get a few hours. I'm sorry I didn't have room for you two at my place."
Tintin smiled at her. "Oh that's not a problem at all. We got along just fine." There was a ding and the elevator doors opened. "After you folks."
They reached the top floor within moments and the doors opened. Emily gasped at the sight in front of her. Soldiers were everywhere, and there were cheap desks lined up in aisles in between the existing Interpol offices.
Dr. Wagner spotted them at once. "Ah, good morning everyone! Welcome to our command center. We'll be overseeing everything from here while you're away. Isn't it quaint?"
Emily's eyes were wide. "Quaint isn't really what I was thinking. I can't believe you put this together overnight!"
"Ah yes, I was very pushy I must admit. Everyone was very helpful though, especially considering one of their own is going into battle." Dr. Wagner checked his watch. "You're all perfectly on time. If you'll head to the conference room, we'll go over some last minute details and then I'll let you get going. Time is of the essence!" He ushered them towards the room that was already packed with a few soldiers.
Emily shot Hotch a nervous look, but he just gave her a reassuring smile and followed Wagner into the room. She sighed and followed him, taking a seat next to him.
"Alright everyone, I hope you've had some time to get some rest." Dr Wagner started up his presentation that showed pictures of Maggie Coolidge, Samuel Pincher and Wayne Downey. "You've all been briefed on the focus of this mission. Retrieve Maggie and bring Samuel and Dr. Downey in to custody. The recommended timeline is forty eight hours." He gestured to a pile of satellite phones. "Everyone will be responsible to check into base every four hours. If you split up at anytime or find yourself alone, feel free to call in and I will be able to give you the position of your group members. Each phone has a GPS attached to it so try not to lose it. But don't worry, you all have additional beacons imbedded in your uniforms. The signal won't be as strong but they'll work if you're in a bind."
Emily reached across the table and passed a satellite phone to Hotch. "Will the beacons have communication potential?"
"Unfortunately no. They're only able to alert danger by being pressed three times in rapid succession." Wagner opened his own uniform and showed everyone the small red circle imbedded in the left side. "If a phone gets damaged and you are with members of your group, just alert me to that fact when you check in. The most important thing is to stay connected so we know you're safe."
"Hey Doc, what about the dinos?" One of the uniformed guards asked. "How many of them will be carnivorous?"
"At this time, we're estimating about twenty percent of the animals are carnivorous. Of course, the other eighty percent should also be respected. These animals live in herds, and there's always a chance that there will be a stampede caused by factors you can't control. The best policy is to try and remain as invisible to them as possible." Dr. Wagner turned towards Emily and Hotch. "Once you've landed, Agents Prentiss and Hotchner will be your superiors. Mr. Tintin will be closely assisting them also. Please do whatever you can to help them."
"We'll be setting up teams once we get there," Hotch added. "For most of the time, we'll be working together, but there may be moments where we have to separate. So be prepared to have to deal with the elements in small groups."
"Are there any other questions?" Dr. Wagner looked around the room, and was met with silence and firm stares. "Alright everyone, let's move out. Grab what you need and meet on the roof in no less than twenty minutes."
Everyone dispersed, and Wagner ushered Emily and Hotch aside. He shook both their hands. "God speed you two. Stay safe out there."
"You keep your ears open on this end and we'll do the rest," Emily assured him. "We'll be in contact."
"Yes my dear, talk to you soon." Wagner turned to the crowd of people in the centre of the floor. He put on a brave smile and walked out of the room, leaving Emily and Hotch alone.
"Are you ready?" Emily asked, checking her watch. "I'd like to use the ladies room before we go."
"Yeah, sounds like a good idea. Where's the men's?" Hotch followed Emily out of the conference room and down a small hallway to where the bathrooms were. He left his bag on the ground outside. "Meet out here?"
Emily nodded. "Sure." She watched him go inside and sighed as she pushed the door open. She splashed some water on her face and checked her appearance. Pulling her hair into a ponytail, she pushed the anxiety in her chest back and walked out the door.
