AN: Okay so here's the next chapter. I am really thankful to my best friend because she's helped me map out the story. There is only 6 more chapters...BUT don't worry I have a sequel in the works! Enjoy guys. -Lanie xx

She's sitting on her bed, staring at something on her wall. One of her posters, it was some movie she and Anna really liked. Now thinking about it… she didn't like it all that much. Anna had. It's been the position that she's been in for almost an hour now. It wasn't until she got home that she had started to regret what the choice she had made.

When she'd walked into school earlier that day it had seemed like such a good idea. Go out with David Hale and make Jax jealous. Now that seemed foolish. Who was she to try to pull this?

Falling back against her mattress she let out a groan. This was one of the more frustrating situations that she'd gotten herself into. Tara already knew Jax cared so why did she think that riling him up was going to be a good idea?

And now she had to get ready.

Instead of doing that she walked into the living room where her dad and Darrell were located. Placing herself in her favorite chair, she gave them a wave. To her 4:30 was a little too early to start drinking but she wasn't going to comment on that.

"What's up kid?" The older Knowles asked with a hint of worry in his voice. It didn't go unnoticed by her either. Lately he's seemed to care more than he has ever before.

"Can you ground me for being reckless and endangerment to my peers on valentine's day?" She tilted her eyes and she looked between the men.

"I could but you're neither of those things…" He brought the bottle up to his lips as Dean took a drink of his beer.

"It's never too late to start thought, sweetie." Darrell added with a laugh. "What happened to that boyfriend of yours? Flake?"

Tara curled into herself more and shook her head. "We broke up last night actually…"

"Why wasn't I told?" Her dad worried expression grew even more so. "I mean it was obvious you two were having problems..." Dean let out a sigh. "I'd go threaten him and all that shit for you but I don't want to piss of the crows."

"I wouldn't let you to begin with, Dad." She put her head down against her knees.

"Are you okay though, Tara? I'm sure your Dad wouldn't mind letting you drink a bit." Darrell looked over to get approval from the other man.

"Nah, I think adding alcohol to the mix would only make tonight harder for me." She looked up and shrugged.

"And what are you doing?" he asked her as he threw his arm over the back of the couch.

"I… I agreed to go out with David Hale.." Her head hung down in embarrassment.

"Already? Damn she moves fast." Darrell laughed which earned him a glare from both the younger and older Knowles. "Sorry. Do you like the guy Tara?"

Tara bit her bottom lip and shook her head.

Her dad's eyebrow shot up. "Then why the hell are you going out with the kid?"

"I second that, is he supposedly good in the sack? That could be a good way to get over the other one."

Looking at them both dumbfounded she slid down in her sit in hope that her knees would cover her red cheeks. It was reasons like these that she didn't like to really talk to her dad about personal things. Though, it was too late to take it all back now.

"Uh not sure about that nor do I even want to know… I just thought I'd try and have some fun." She shrugged with her reply.

"You always go to Anna's and watch horror movies…In fact I don't think you've been around her at all lately," He questioned.

"We've both been busy with the school project; we see each other at school." Which wasn't exactly a lie, she did she her every day.

Her eyes went to look at the clock it was getting close to only being an hour before he gets her and she has to finish getting ready. There was no move from the chair though. Anyways, she knew her Dad wasn't finished.

"That's good. She's a nice girl. It would be such a shame if the two of you decided to stop being friends. You've been through a lot over the years." Dean smiled at his daughter before his eyes went to the basketball game.

She knew what he was really trying to say. Don't push away your only friend.

It might be too late for that now though. She wasn't sure if their friendship could have been what it used to be. Not when she couldn't trust her not to hurt her again.

"We've been through everything…," she replied to him sadly. "I should go and get ready though."

Not waiting for a response she pushed herself off of the chair and walked past the men that were already getting absorbed with the game. That didn't surprise her though. It never took long.

Shutting her bedroom door, she leaned against it and hit her head a few times. She felt so stupid. Today wouldn't be over quick enough. Recovering she walked over to her closet.

The last thing she wanted to do was give David the impression that something was ever going to happen. Her outfit needed to be perfect. It barely registered that she was starting to worry more about her clothes than she had ever done before.

Letting out a breath she pulled out a flowy, red shirt and a tighter pair of jeans and to finish the look off her black converse. Those shoes were her favorite. Maybe they'd bring her some luck for today.

Seeing the red dress that she would have worn if Jax was her date brought a sad smile to her face. He wouldn't be seeing it today, but she had faith that he would get to eventually.

There was no way that she could hate him forever. There would be a day where she forgave him, where she trusted him. Hopefully that day wouldn't come too late.

Tara set all of her things on bed before walking to the bathroom. She looked into the mirror and stared at herself. Brown eyes, rosy cheeks, and pale skin. What Jax ever saw in her was a mystery. There was no beauty in her.

Pulling the band from her hair, she let it cascade down over her shoulders. Tara was always really fond of her long hair. It might have been her favorite part about herself.

Picking up the foundation she started to pat it on.

As she pulled the shirt over her head, she straightened it as she heard the doorbell. Afraid of what her dad might say to him, she yelled that she would get it.

Tara picked up what she needed and ran for the door. Once she was there she pulled her hair from behind her shoulders and looked over at her dad before opening it.

"Hi David. Hold on one minute."

Tara walked over to her Dad and Darrell and kissed their cheeks.

"Thanks you guys, for everything," she added, "enjoy your romantic evening." She teased them.

A smile formed when they simultaneously let out groans. Walking over to David she laughed and nodded. "I'm ready to go."

Pulling the door closed behind her, she gave the guy a smile as they started to walk to his car.

Hmm. A car was a nice change of pace.

"So…your dad is gay?" He questioned as they reached the passenger door.

Tara looked at him for a minute before she broke out in laughter. It felt good to really laugh. It had been awhile. Her hand reached up to cover her mouth as she tried to contain the hysterical laughs.

The way he was looking at her was only making it worse though. Poor David was so confused by what was going on. She watched as he shoved his hands in his pockets and lean against the car. It was sweet that he was going to let her have her fun.

"Are you done laughing at me now?" he asked after it seemed that she calmed down.

Tara nodded. "Yes, sorry. But uh no… They're best friends." She shrugged. "I've just always joked about them secretly being gay lovers."

"The laughing makes sense now. " He smiled with amusement as he opened the door. "Guess we should get going now."

"Yeah, I might make us late." She frowned before getting inside.

"I don't care about being late to be completely honest." With that he shut the door.

Her eyes followed him as he walked around the car and got inside. Once he started to put on his seatbelt, she started to do the same. If she was being honest, she missed the bike. Swinging her leg over the side and grabbing onto her m—what used to be her man.

The thought of him deflated the good mood she was just in. David was no Jackson Teller. No one was going to replace him. Hopefully he could sense that.

Setting her hands in lap, she takes a deep breath and her eyes flutter closed. She needed to really just enjoy tonight. Forget all about the past few weeks.

"You okay?" He asked her, leaning forward to get a better look at her.

"Yeah, let's go." Tara smiled sweetly at him.

He nodded and started the car. Pulling out of the driveway he headed towards the agreed restaurant. It was silent until he finally spoke up.

"I was really surprised that you agreed to go with me," he admitted to her.

She swallowed, "yeah… I think…David you said we could go as friends."

"Yeah… I did. I figured that's what this was. You're trying to make him jealous right?" His hands clenched the steering wheel and took a sharp turn.

"How did you guess?" she asked softly and held onto the seat.

"You said yes right in front of him." David gave her a brief glance.

"Not my best idea…" She held her head down.

"Nah, it got me a date with you." He chuckled a little.

"As friends." She pointed out.

"It could be worse. We could both be alone right now." David started to turn into the place.

Or I could be with Anna like always. Tara thought to herself, feeling a frown fall to her lips.

"Yeah you're right. This is going to be a lot more fun than hanging out with my Dad and Darrell." She smiled.

"That sounds like a lot of fun though." He laughed.

"You should come and spend the day with them." Tara offered.

"As long as you're there, sure." David parked the car and smiled over at her.

"Sure why not. I could use a friend right now." She smiled back at him and unbuckled.

He did the same and opened his door. "That's what I am willing to be then."

Getting out of the car, she saw him frown. "I can open my own doors, friends, remember?"

"I still like to be a gentleman." He mumbled as they walked towards the entrance.

" I already know that you are. But hey, go ahead and open this door for me." Tara laughed as they got to the door.

She was trying so hard not to let this bug her. So far she was having a lot of fun with David. There would need to be something really bad to ruin her night now.

There was no way Jax would be here, he didn't like going out. Having the door opened for her, Tara smiled over at David. He was a lot nicer than she thought. Plus there talk about just being friends seemed to put her at ease.

Looking around the restaurant she wondered who else would be there. Her eyes caught sight of blonde hair and it brought a smile to her face, automatically. It fell when she noticed who was standing beside him.

"That bitch." She mumbled under her breath.
