"But baby right now maybe what you need's a friend.
Well I'm here for you."
Epilogue: June 13th, 1993
Tara walked out of the school with a smile on her face. Finally the year was over. The rest of her school year had been pretty painful. If even that was her own damn fault it didn't make it easier. Though, Jax and Opie tried to include her in things…she just decided it was easiest to stay away. She made sure to go home during lunch not only to avoid having to be alone but also to check on her Dad.
He was finally starting to get better. Though, she didn't know if he was really all that much better. Once he got home, he quit his job since he wasn't going to be able to do it as well as took up drinking even more heavily. Which was starting to worry her, the person he was becoming wasn't someone she liked being around. Tara was afraid that he was going to start getting aggressive again.
Not that she was going to talk to anyone about that.
With her face raised to the sky she let out a content sigh fall from her mouth as she felt the warm breeze against her skin. Someone bumped into her and caused her to stumble forward. A smile braced her face as she saw that Opie and Jax were there.
"Are you guys ever going to leave me alone?" She said as she drew out a melodramatic sigh.
Opie shook his head as Jax answered for the pair. "Nah, you're fun to mess with, sweetheart."
It still warmed her heart to hear Jax refer to her as that. To refer to her at all, really. "Well it's a good thing I have three months away from you two."
Jax tried to hide the pout he was giving her and Opie rolled his eyes. "You aren't going to avoid us all summer too, right?"
"I'm not avoiding you! I've been busy with my Dad...Also I have a summer job."
"Doesn't mean you have to hide away."
Tara rolled her eyes. "I'll make time for the two of you, okay? I promise you'll see me at least once a month, deal?"
The arrogant look that normally was Jax's expression was back and it made her the corner of her mouth quirk up a bit. "Deal," he replied smugly. "Also, Gemma told me the insurance for the cutlass was finally cleared. We start working on it in a couple of days."
Tara's face lit up as relief flooded her body. It was one less thing that was going to worry her. "Finally, took it long enough."
"I'll call you when it's finished." Jax smiled at her.
"Thanks… I guess this is where we part ways." She mumbled a little reluctantly.
"Do you need a ride home?" Opie asked as the three of them made their way to the bikes.
Tara took one look at the bikes and she wanted to. She really did. Instead she shook her head. It was for the best if she didn't. Even, if it was Opie that gave her a ride. The walk would help her clear her head. "I'm going to walk. "
"Later, Tare."
"Bye." Jax gave her a longing look as Opie climbed onto his bike.
Tara gave him a heartfelt smile and waved. She wasn't leaving him on bad terms. That was something she wanted him to know. There were no hard feelings. Just love, even if it didn't seem like it right now. "See ya later, Jackson."
His smile took her breath away as she watched him get on his bike. Once she heard the engine start, she turned and bit her lip. She loved that sound almost as much as she cared about the person riding it.
AN: So this obviously wasn't meant to be a full chapter. I just wanted to give a little teaser of how they ended the school year. As well as let you all know if you haven't seen it already, that I posted my new story. It's called Just Another Chance. I'm really excited for it to start back up and I hope you are just as excited.
