Anonymous: Kensi and Jack talking for the first time.
Jack walks into the cave slowly, his expression one of indifference. No emotion is pouring out of him, no apologetic looks are being thrown her way. There's just nothing.
She swallows down the lump that's beginning to form in the back of her throat and looks at him dead on, forcing her ex-fiance to see what his men have done to her. Oddly enough, Kensi isn't surprised when he doesn't appear moved by her bruised and battered features. She's already come to terms with the fact that he isn't the man she used to know.
"So this is where you ended up, huh?" Kensi asks, her tone angrier than she'd originally intended for it to be. Natural instincts, she assumes. "You're working with the Taliban? The people you used to consider enemies?"
He lifts a hand and points towards her face. "From the looks of it, you already have your answer."
She swallows and flinches back slightly, unable to stifle the movement.
He's behind all of this. Jack. The man she'd planned on marrying.
The outrage is building up inside of her, so in an effort not to scream she states- "You betrayed your country."
He shrugs. It's smug as hell and nothing like the way he used to address her. "I found a new one. There's a difference."
"Not from where I'm standing."
"Maybe. But from where I'm standing, you're the enemy here. Not the other way around." He shifts his weight to one foot, still towering over her. "I don't work for your country anymore."
She grits her teeth and finds it hard to breathe, but not as a result of her broken nose. "At a time, it was your country too."
He pretends to contemplate the statement. "At a time, yes."
As a silence lingers she feels tears start to burn in her eyes, causing her vision to blur. She glances to the ground in the hopes he won't notice.
"You were a marine, Jack. Duty, honor, country-"
"Things change, Kensi."
She looks back up. "I can see that now."
Jack doesn't say a word as he walks towards the fire, poking it with a stick to prevent it from going out.
"So what's your plan, exactly?" she asks, staring at the cackling flames. "To keep me here forever? To torture me until I give you information? You might be okay with betraying your country, but I'm not going to betray mine." He continues pushing coals around as the fire grows bigger and bigger. "My people will find me. It's only a matter of time."
Jack looks over at her. She's pleading with her eyes and he isn't affected in the slightest.
Then he smiles, and a shiver runs up her spine.
"Not if we kill you first."
