Later, when he was in Azkaban and had time to confront the painful memories, he realized it was Wormtail who had betrayed her.
Because helping to murder James and Lily wasn't enough - he had to go after Sirius, too, had to shatter Sirius' heart, had to take away the one woman that he would never be able to get over, and not because of the amortentia, but because he'd loved her so fucking much.
