Prompt: Could you pretty please re-write the end scene of 5x20?

"Does that mean that… wait a minute, are you back?"

She smiles. "Sure looks like it."

"That's good news," he says, smirking. "I was getting a little worried because, uh… I'm pretty sure Nell was falling in love with me."

Kensi narrows her eyes and grins, feeling her heart begin to pound as she tries to think over what her reply should be. She doesn't get very far though, as a couple of words slip out of her mouth before she can stifle herself.

"You tend to have that affect on people."

Deeks' eyes widen and his smile drops, an expression of complete and total shock taking it's place. Not a bad shock, just a did-you-really-just-say-what-I-think-you-just-said kind of shock.

Kensi's stomach churns as she stares at him in silence, wondering what she could possibly say next. She could try to backtrack— sure. She could tell him that he 'knows what she means' and try her best to play it off as a joke, but he'll know that she's lying and her confession will be out there in plain sight, without a single soul addressing it. The last thing she wants is to take another step backwards.

"Kens, do you mean that, um-"

She stands tall and in a split second decision, decides to hold her ground.

"Yes."

His eyes are still wide and his mouth is still partially ajar. "So you're saying that-"

"I am."

He swallows and looks around the room, wondering how much he can say without being overheard. Much to his dismay Callen and Sam are directly behind them and Hetty is staring right at him, probably listening in with her supersonic hearing.

Deeks can't leave it at that, though. He just can't.

"Do you, uh…" His voice cracks and he looks to the ground, cheeks reddened. He feels like a thirteen year old boy talking to his crush. "Do you wanna come over tonight so we can, um… talk about it?"

Kensi nods, her heart pounding. "I'd like that."

"Okay."

His grin just widens. "Okay."

"Tonight," she says.

"Tonight," he replies.
