Tobias POV

I look outside from the window and find some Dauntless shooting. I run out and tell them to run for safety in Amity. Some of them don't make it. Why are the Dauntless attacking us? When I look closer to their faces, I notice something's wrong. Their faces are blank, so are their eyes.

Marcus runs up to me with a scared look on his face. "Run to the intersection of North and Fairfield. There's a basement," he tells me. I nod and run. As I run, there are some Dauntless trying to shoot me down. I don't know any of them. I run away from them. There's no way I can stop them since I don't have a gun in my hand.

I reach the basement and look around. I find all the Priors, but no Natalie. Tris' mom isn't here. Andrew sees me looking and says, "Natalie is getting the video file from the Erudite." It must be the file they were talking about before, but why Natalie? "She's from Dauntless," Andrew says. Well, that answers it.

Tris POV

Jeanine made a couple Dauntless soldiers bring me in. I keep a blank face on. I just have to act the part.

They bring me in and Jeanine says, "Leave her." They drop me and I stand up. "I know you're Divergent, Beatrice. You can stop pretending."

After I stop my act, she gives me a proud smile. "All the trouble with your aptitude test results made me suspicious from the beginning." I roll my eyes, and she goes to get something.

I ask her, "Are you going to kill me?"

"Don't be silly. There's no rush," she says lightly. "You are here for an extremely important purpose. You see, it perplexed me that the Divergent were immune to the serum that I developed, so I have been working to remedy that. I thought I might have, with the last batch, but as you know, I was wrong. Luckily I have another batch to test."

"Why bother?" I ask. She and the Dauntless leaders had no problem killing the Divergent in the past. Why would it be any different now? She smirks at me. "I have had a question since I began the Dauntless project, and it is this." She sidesteps her desk, skimming the surface with her finger. "Why are most of the Divergent weak-willed, God-fearing nobodies from Abnegation, of all factions?" I didn't know that most of the Divergent came from Abnegation, and I don't know why that would be. And I probably won't live long enough to figure it out.

She continues, "Soon, dozens of the Abnegation and their young children will be my responsibility to keep in order, and it does not bode well for me that a large number of them maybe Divergent like yourself, incapable of being controlled by the simulations. Therefore, it was necessary I develop a new form of simulation to which they are not immune. I can control what you see and hear, so I created a new serum that will adjust your surroundings to manipulate your will." She smiles, "You'll be the first test subject, Beatrice."

I lunge toward Jeanine and choker her. Some Dauntless soldiers try to pull me off. I continue on choking her until a Dauntless soldier pulls me up and shoves me to the ground. He pins me and shoves my head to the carpet. I try to break free, but I can't. I feel a deep satisfaction when I hear Jeanine spluttering and gasping. Suddenly I feel a needle piercing my neck. I go limp for a moment. The pressure of the soldiers releases, and I stand up. I look around, confused. It didn't work on me!

I need to pretend that it does though.

It's starting to follow the book, well not really. I'm going to end this story in a way it'll follow the rest of the books. Please review!
