Memories
(Part One)
He was walking in the big hall, looking at everything. If he knew that he would be in Rieze Maxia so soon…! But being here meant that he was against his father. Was it okay? Of course, he was against his father's ideas, but he was still his father. What could he do?
Leo sighed; if only Rieze Maxia and Elympios could be in a friendly relation…Why was it difficult? Yes, they were different, yes, Rieze Maxia had the Spirits and Elympios had the technology, but did that mean that Elympians were better than Rieze Maxians? No, he thought, we're all the same. If they weren't the same, he couldn't be friend with Leia.
Leia… When they arrived in Rieze Maxia thanks to Muzet – when he understood that she was a spirit, he was really amazed! - , they were welcomed by an old man and younger one. At first, when Leia just told "Rowen", he thought that she was talking to the young one; for him, he was a friend of her, or even one of her family's members, but then, it was the old man who answered and he couldn't help but frown. What wasn't his surprise when he learnt that the younger was none other than the king himself!
Leo remembered how he felt at this very moment. He felt so little beside the king, so shy…! Weak too. Yes, he was weak. He helped Leia…No, it wasn't him; it was Alvin and Muzet. There was no way that he could have helped her. He was nothing, he didn't know how to fight, couldn't protect her. Finally, she was the one who tried to protect him and Alvin before Muzet's coming. If only he could fight, at least…Perhaps he could ask Alvin? But for that, he needed to wake up.
They were already here for hours, and Alvin was healed by the castle's healer. They didn't have news since. He knew that Leia must feeling bad about that; even if she tried to hide it, he could see all the worries on her eyes. He didn't know what the problem between the siblings was, and he wouldn't ask, but he knew that she cared more than she wanted showing.
He continued walking, looking at the maid who were working, cleaning the white ground, while men were quickly walking to their next tasks. Leo wondered what all the people thought about Elympians, about him. Now, they were acting properly with him. Did they know that he was Elympians? Or did they act like that with him just because of the king? He could hear whispers and some eyes were looking at him. There was no feeling on it, no feeling but wonder. It was strange, but he didn't mind for now.
He passed a door and entered another hall. It was still a big one but he knew it: it was here that Alvin was. Leia must be near. So, he began to walk a little bit faster, trying to ignore one of soldier's comments. "An Elympian? How could the king authorized such a boy like that in the castle?" It hurt but he didn't answer a thing, he didn't want to have King Gaius angry against him.
He arrived near of a door and, in front of it, sitting on the ground and against the wall, Leia had her eyes closed like she was sleeping. Quietly, he sat down beside her and waiting that she woke up.
"You're visit was good?"
Leo startled, making smile the girl.
"I thought that you were sleeping."
"I'm sorry, I didn't want scaring you."
He shook his head.
"No, it's me, I didn't have thinking that you were sleeping."
She raised her eyes and he smiled a little when she said:
"Well, if I hadn't closed my eyes…"
"Okay, stop. I don't want to argue for something as stupid as that."
The girl laughed and it surprised him, but he was relieving too. It was the first time that she laughed since their arrival in Rieze Maxia. It was much better.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to laugh. It's probably because I'm tired."
"Go sleep, then."
"No, I can't. Not until we have news."
Leo sighed, making frowned the girl.
"You seem tired too."
"Yes, tired of your stubbornness. Seriously, Leia, I think that you need some sleep."
"I'll find a bed after knowing that Alvin is fine."
"I know you're worried about your brother but he wouldn't want seeing you like that."
Leia opened her mouth before closing quickly. Leo tilted but said nothing, waiting for an answer. He had to wait five minutes before she finally said:
"Alvin isn't my brother."
It was his turn to open and close his mouth. So, it was a lie too? He could understand why she lied – she was a spy afterall – but when he found out what she was, why didn't she tell him the whole truth?
"…I see…"
"He just…I don't know. There was a time where we were friends."
"You always are."
"I don't think so. You don't know what happened between us."
"No, I don't know about the past, but about the present, I know that you care for him."
"Of course I care! He took risks for me…You took risk to save me too. He tried to talk with me, to make me feeling better around him. He wants to break the ice between us, but I'm so stubborn, I'm still so afraid about all that things…"
Leo wanted to comfort her but he didn't know how. He wasn't good at all in these sorts of things, but Leia was his first friend, he wanted to help her.
"I…" He began but he was cut by the former spy.
"I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm telling that."
He wanted to tell her that everything was okay, that she didn't need to be worried about that. He could understand that, time to time, she wanted to talk about her feelings to someone. Did she have someone to talk, here? Did she have friends other than Alvin and him? This Rowen seemed to be one; perhaps a little bit too old but she seemed to have faith in him.
"You know…If you want to talk, you can…" He said after a while. "I'll listen to you no matter what. We're friends, right?"
She was going to answer something, but at this very moment, the door of Alvin's room opened on the doctor who left quickly, without looking at them. Leia stood up faster than he could see and she entered.
King Gaius was siting legs crossed, listening to Rowen. He was reading Leia's reports in big voice that was shaking a little because of his age. Near of them, Muzet was quiet. He told her that she could go back near of Maxwell, but she said that for now, Milla didn't need her. That Spirit was stubborn. Like his former comrade.
The Chimeriad, yes, they were all so stubborn. But he needed them by his sides. They were his best comrades, the ones he trusted the most; and he didn't want to let them behind him, six months ago. He couldn't, they wouldn't listen him.
"…and so, the reports are finished."
"I see. If it continues like that, Pater will success their goal." After a minute of silence, the king of Rieze Maxia continued. "I must see Elympios' Prime Minister."
"I'm not sure it's a good idea." Rowen answered.
"But he could help us."
"Are you planning to tell him about our little spy?"
"He already knows."
"What!?"
Gaius didn't repeat, didn't need it. Muzet, who was quiet for a while, suddenly spoke softly:
"I come with you."
"No. It's dangerous for you. And Maxwell needs you."
"Milla is a big girl and I'm sure that she will rather prefer me protecting you. I'll be alright, I'm not scared of some little humans."
The king wanted replying but at the same time, someone entered: it was the doctor who tried to heal Alvin.
"Your Highness." He said while bowing.
"How is Alvin?" Rowen asked.
They all waited for the answer, even if Gaius and Muzet didn't really mind. Of course, they were a little bit worried, but they weren't in the same relationship with the man than the others.
"Well…I have bad news."
Peter Vin Svent wasn't a man who liked being disputed. Especially when it was about an unknown man, a little girl and his own son. Oh, he never considered him as his son, anyway. Leo was just a substitution of Rick. Nothing more. He was only a rat and wasn't even being able to be like Rick.
The man sighed, letting smoke leaving his lips before putting his cigarette between them. What would he do? Those little rats needed a punishment, but before that, they needed to be caught. They were probably already on the way to Rieze Maxia, so he already sent his men to catch them. He just needed to wait. Which kind of punishment would he use?
He needed to see the Prime Minister too. He must talk about King Gaius and his little spies. If he could break the relationship between the Prime Minister and the king of Rieze Maxia, everything would be alright. He would be able to continue his experiments; or at least, the Prime Minister wouldn't stop him, would help him, he was sure. He just needed that Leia, now.
Someone knocked at his office's door and he let him enter. It was one of the men that he sent, who was as white as a ghost. Peter Vin Svent frowned.
"So, did you catch them?" He asked hopefully.
"W-well…" The other began and Peter Vin Svent could feel the anger coming. "T-They weren't at the frontier, nor at that man's house…"
"Where are they!?"
"We…We think that t-they're already in Rieze Maxia…"
"How is it even possible!?"
Those bloody Rieze Maxians and their power! They probably used one of their power to leave so fast…Or else, there was a Spirit with them, but it was impossible! Right?
He sighed. He was really tired of those people, he had to do something about them. Then, he took his decision.
"Take me a rendezvous with the Prime Minister."
He needed to talk with him and then, King Gaius and his stupid spies would all fall.
