Hello everyone! First of all, happy new year! Yes, I'm really really late. I planned to write and update Memories during Christmas' holidays, but as I had my head in the clouds, I forgot my notebook at my university room...That, plus the fact that the new semester began...It's a petty excuse...I'm so sorry! I'll try to update more often but I have to planned the next chapters before...
Disclaimer: Tales of Xillia belongs to Namco Bandai Games. Yep.
Edit: I fixed some mistake!
Memories Part.2
When she entered the room, the first thing that Leia saw was Alvin, sitting on his bed, a bandage around his head. It was the proof that he protected them back to Elympios, but Leia didn't want to think about it; for now, she just wanted to know if the man was fine. So, with a little smile, trying to not show that she was worried since their arrival, she said cheerfully:
"Hey Alvin, finally awoke, huh? So, how do you feel? Did you lose the last neuron you had?" She joked.
But the man didn't answer and looked at her suspiciously, screwing his eyes. The girl looked at Leo who was beside her, wondering if the boy knew why Alvin looked at her like that. Perhaps he didn't appreciate the joke?
"What happens? Have you a problem with my clothes or something? Did I say something that you didn't like?"
If it was the case, she wondered what she had said that could get him suspicious.
"No, but…" He began to answer hesitantly.
Wait. Alvin, uncertain? Leia thought, scared. This is news! Why do I have a bad feeling? It wasn't normal at all that Alvin sounded uncertain.
"Who…Who are you?" He finally asked.
At first, Leia froze. Did she hear well? Did he really ask who she was? And then, she tried to be logical.
"It's not time for bad jokes, Alvin."
Because it couldn't possibly be something else than a joke, right? The man was only joking, trying to scare her.
"I'm not joking. Who are you? You seem to know me, but I don't know you." He repeated, seriously.
Leia opened her mouth in disbelief before closing it. No, it was impossible. Alvin couldn't forget her. He couldn't—
"Leia…" Leo whispered with a sad voice.
"I'm sorry, Miss." The nurse near of them began. "But Alvin is amnesic."
"A-Amnesic…? You mean like…Forgetting about what happened some hours ago? Forgetting about the past…?" The young girl asked slowly.
"Well, it's the definition, yes."
She clenched her fists and came close of the patient. She didn't want to believe it, she couldn't ! She caught his T-shirt and literally shouted:
"You don't have the right to forget everything we have lived together! You're not authorized to forget that you have tried to kill me six months ago…!"
She didn't care if the two others people in the room could hear what she said. What was important right know was Alvin's eyes looking at her with shock, as if she was totally crazy. Oh yes, she was crazy! She couldn't believe that he dared to forget about everything!
Tears felt on her cheeks but she didn't care and continued to shout at the man like her life was going to end. Her thoughts were mixing. The nurse tried to stop her but Leia continued what she was doing, still crying. How could it happen? They were near to talk about everything, to try to make peace, and now…Now…
She released him and without saying a word, she left quickly the room, without waiting for Leo who looked the scene, helpless.
Now, everything was lost.
Rowen sat near Alvin's bed. His friend was sleeping, or at least, it looked like he slept. He thought about everything for a while and, suddenly, he began to talk aloud, more for himself than for any people who could hear him.
"Why did I send Leia for this mission? Now, Alvin has lost his memories. The fault is mine."
"I would have lost them in a way or another."
Rowen startled and looked at Alvin, whose eyes were facing the ceiling. So, he wasn't sleeping after all. Then, the former mercenary looked back at the old man and asked:
"Do I know you as I must know the crazy girl?"
The old man couldn't help but smile a little bit. He had heard about Leia shouting at Alvin, ready to punch him, and especially, crying. Of course, she was sad that he forgot about everything –especially about Hamil – and it was totally normal.
"I apologized for Miss Leia's behavior. She was upset."
"I could see that. So, her name is Leia? Is she my girlfriend or something like that?"
Rowen choked on when he heard Alvin's question. Leia, his girlfriend? Not sure that she would appreciate that.
"No, she isn't. There was a time where you were good friends."
"I…Don't understand."
Rowen screwed his eyes, wondering what Alvin didn't understand. There was nothing difficult in what he said, right?
"Are you sure that we're friends? She told me that she didn't authorize me to forget that I tried to kill her six months ago. What did she mean?"
The tactician opened his mouth before closing it. How did he have to explain that? No, he couldn't. It's Leia who had to explain Alvin, even if the better thing would be Alvin remembered it.
"It is…complicated."
"You can try."
"No, I can't."
Silence surrounded them for a while. The two men were facing, until Alvin looked by the window beside his bed. Rowen closed his eyes, sad. It was difficult to see Alvin in this condition, to know that he forgot everything.
"Why?"
"Because it's your work to remember it, not mine."
Alvin grumbled, his eyes still fixed on the window.
"What is the last thing that you remember?"
"Hm…I was…With Isla and my mother. I was going in mission for…" The former mercenary began but then, he stopped, as if he said something he shouldn't.
"I see. In mission for your uncle, right? About Milla Maxwell?"
"How do you kow?"
Rowen sighed. It wouldn't be easy.
"Listen. You already met Milla, as you met Jude, Miss Elize, Leia and me. All together, we killed your uncle and now, Rieze Maxia and Elympios try to live together."
"My uncle is…I see."
Again, Alvin looked by the window, as if he was trying to avoid Rowen's eyes. He looked sad and relieved at the same time. Poor Alvin, he must feel really bad to forgetting something like that…I hope that his memories will come back soon…, Rowen thought. And he wanted to help him. He wanted to try something, but for that, he needed Jude's help.
"Alvin, I want to help you."
The man didn't answer but Rowen didn't lose hope.
"I'll send you to Leronde."
"Leronde? Why?"
Alvin screwed his eyes, doubtful.
"Because I send back Miss Leia. She needs some rest. Furthermore, her parents run a family hotel and I'm sure you'll be better there than here, at the castle."
Alvin didn't seem convinced but Rowen didn't mind for now. The most important thing was that Alvin must recover soon, and he hoped that seeing Jude and living with at Leia's family hotel would help him.
