"Well...welcome back from your nap, Mr. Inuyasha"
Slowly, the hanyou opened his eyes. Dr. Gray was to his right smiling down at him. "Where's Sessh?"
"He's in the room next door. We would've kept you in there but there wasn't enough room for you so we brought you here. Would you like to go see-"
"No, no. I wanna talk to you"
He painstakingly sat up as she went & closed the door, her eyes wary & body language cautious.
"I'm sure you've heard that we're pregnant"
Dr. Gray nodded. "Congratu-"
"I am not thanking you. You let him risk his life! While I expect him to be hardheaded I would've thought someone of your profession would've at least let me know!"
Dr. Gray looked down a moment & cleared her throat. "I am only authorized to give out information on a patient to the immediate family & spouse, Mr. Inuyasha"
"Fuck you & the fucking policy, you need to tell me what the fuck is going on with him"
"I'm going to have to ask you to keep your voice-"
Before she could finish her sentence Inuyasha had her pinned to the wall by her neck. "You want me to keep my voice down, you got it, cause I want you to hear me" he hissed in her ear, "I don't plan on Sessh ever having to come back into a hospital after he gives birth but let yo' ass be here next time & you don't tell me something important that's going on with him. I'm not one to be fucked with, do you hear me? Sessh didn't get wit' no weak fool. You better remember that"
He gave her throat one last squeeze before he banged the back of her head against the wall, not hard enough to hurt her but just enough to scare the shit out of her. He snatched open the door & walked out into the hallway, willing himself to calm down before he went in to see Sesshomaru. He didn't know what just came over him just then. He hadn't been that violent in a very long time, much less threatened anyone but that old feeling of adrenaline & raw anger had hit him unexpectedly...& it felt good.
He knocked on Sesshomaru's door before inviting himself in. The inuyoukai was up & gathering his things. He turned to look over his shoulder before he slipped a piece of paper into a folder into his hand. "Glad to see you're up"
"How you feel?" Inuyasha asked, putting a hand on his waist & kissing him.
"Good. How about you? You hit your head a little hard on the way down"
Inuyasha smirked but it didn't reach his eyes. "I'm good. You know I'm hard headed"
Sesshomaru tilted his head to the side & narrowed his eyes. "You're upset. Why?"
"I'm good, baby, let's go"
"You're not. What's wrong?"
The hanyou sighed. "Just had a talk with Dr. Gray, that's all"
"About?"
"Her not telling me she was giving you the treatment behind my back"
Sesshomaru frowned deeply. "I thought we had moved past this, Inuyasha. I thought you'd let it go"
"Who said I was over it? What makes you think I'd let it go when you've come so close to dying, not once but twice?! No, I'm still pissed at both of yall's asses for that shit"
"I don't think she could tell you anyway since we're not married"
Inuyasha pointed at him, his voice dropping to a baritone. "Don't give me that shit. That ain't acceptable"
"Neither is your finger in my face" Sesshomaru hissed dangerously.
The half breed stared his mate down, his anger rolling off of him in waves, before he slowly put his finger down. Sesshomaru may be his Beta but he was definitely not a whimpering bitch in heat trying to make sure his Alpha was always pleased. The demon was just as determined to stare him down & stand up to him in defiance, his pride way too big to ever look away.
Inuyasha shifted his weight, wanting to leave but not wanting to look away first. "When it concerns you it's always my business to know first, especially since you have no family"
"Let's just celebrate the fact that we are finally pregnant" Sesshomaru growled between clenched fangs as he side stepped his mate & walked out the door.
Following him after a few seconds, Inuyasha was walking out the door just as Dr. Gray emerged from the room he'd previously been in. Her eyes immediately widened as she froze but Inuyasha simply gave her a quick once over & walked away. He was not one to be messed with, Dr. Gray as well as Sesshomaru were going to learn that quick. Yes it was great they were finally pregnant & all but he couldn't get over the fact he'd been excluded from such a vital part of his mate's life, especially since he was always involved in EVERY aspect of Sesshomaru's life or he at least knew about it & vice versa. Whatever. Eventually he'd get over it but for now he just simply couldn't.

The ride home was silent, as expected. Inuyasha was still in his feelings & Sesshomaru was still fuming, his long fingers clenched into fists on his lap. Occasionally he would gently pat his stomach as if to comfort the little nugget currently growing in his body. It was then Inuyasha realized he hadn't asked how far along the pregnancy was.
The hanyou shifted uncomfortably & cleared his throat. "How far along are you?"
"Why do you care now? Thought you'd still be hurt over something as simple as-" Sesshomaru started, muttering.
"You almost dying several times ain't simple!' Inuyasha boomed.
"It was a side effect, it wasn't even that serious!"
"You don't think death is a side effect?"
"What part of minor heart attack didn't you understand? I wasn't in any danger!"
"You may not take shit like that seriously but I do! You could've died from a complication of that "minor" heart attack! Why don't you fucking understand that?!"
Sesshomaru huffed irritably & crossed his arms tightly, his bow-shaped mouth bunched up.
"Oh there you go pouting. That ain't gon' change shit! You knew you were wrong, that's why you quiet now! That's why you went behind my back in the first place!"
The inuyoukai stayed silent but he tensed, the muscles in his arms bulging.
"You honestly thought getting pregnant was going to make me go, "Gee, I know what he did upset me but I'll let it go since we're pregnant now". You honestly thought I wasn't going to be upset anymore, Sesshomaru?!"
"I thought you would at least be happy we're fucking pregnant!" Sesshomaru exploded, "I didn't think you'd be such a bitch about what I did as long as we got what we wanted!"
Inuyasha's jaw dropped & he could only scoff & stutter in disbelief at the accusation. "Excuse me? I'm being such a bitch about your life? Is that what you call that? Me being more concerned about your life than you apparently makes me a bitch?"
& to his surprised tears sprang into his mate's eyes & the demon didn't even try to hide it. "All I wanted was to have a baby! That's all I wanted & you can't even be happy! It all turned out for the best, why can't you just let it go?!"
The several cracks he heard in his mate's voice caused the hanyou's anger to fizzle down to just irritation but still it calmed him down some & cleared his head. "You don't ever seem to consider what affects me, Sessh. You brush me off, you ignore my feelings, you tell me to change the subject & I don't feel like I matter to you. Why are you still with me if you don't care about how I feel, huh? Why do I have to constantly support you emotionally but I have to keep it shut up inside?"
Sesshomaru stared at him for a few moment before he just started sobbing. I mean like uncontrollable, hiccupping,I don't care if I'm not cute anymore, the emotional dam just broke kind of sobbing. It absolutely broke Inuyasha's heart. He pulled over on the side of the road & threw the car into park before he brought the demon to him for a tight hug. He had no idea a conversation like this would cause this kind of reaction. It honestly scared the shit out of him.
"Shhh. I gotchu, baby, calm down. It's alright. I gotchu"
It was at least thirty minutes before Sesshomaru calmed down enough to be able to speak but the tears continued to flow. "I will not lie & tell you something just because you want to hear it. I still have many flaws when it comes to emotional situations & even when I try to work on it I still feel like it's not enough"
"That doesn't mean you just give up, baby" Inuyasha said softly.
The inuyoukai wiped his face & straightened, his Adam's apple bobbing every two seconds or so. "I am sorry. I truly am..."
The hanyou wasn't how quite to approach that. He felt that apology was too vague, too open ended. Sorry for what exactly? But he didn't want to push it, not right now. Right now, he just wanted to go home & hold his mate & take a nap. It'd been an exhausting day
Inuyasha cleared his throat, feeling awkward as he shifted the car back into Drive. "Let's...go get some ice cream or something"

Though at first Sesshomaru didn't seem too keen on getting ice cream early in the morning, by the time they pulled up to Cold Stone he seemed willing enough to place his order first.
Inuyasha briefly ran his hand down his mate's arm. "You good?"
The inuyoukai nodded once. "I am feeling like myself again. You?"
The half breed smirked. So he was already starting to train himself to listen to Inuyasha emotionally. "I'm good, baby"
They ate their ice cream in mostly silence, minus the few times they caught the other staring at them & they would chuckle. It felt like when they first fell in love, all giddy & excited, hearts all in their eyes [well, Inuyasha's anyway] & blushing over little compliments [well, Sesshomaru was anyway]. It was the moments like these Inuyasha knew why they'd lasted so long & he could never remember why he'd been angry with his mate just an hour ago.
When they were finished & had cleaned up, Inuyasha took Sesshomaru's hand & smiled down at him. "Let's go for a walk"
Sesshomaru looked mildly surprised but nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a good idea"
The hanyou felt like he should say something while they walked in silence, admiring the park just a few blocks down from where they'd gotten their ice cream, something romantic, something deep but nothing came to mind. At least nothing as deep, as profound as he wanted it to be anyway. He wanted it to be poetic, moving but instead the only thing that circled through his mind was, "I love you...so much. More than you know. More than you realize. More than I could tell you. I could only show you how much because I do not even completely understand myself"
Sesshomaru stopped walking & gave him a strange look. His eyes asked a question his mouth couldn't quite form & Inuyasha realized he'd said that all out loud.
He blushed a little & cleared his throat. "S-sorry. Just...thinking out loud, ya know?"
He was getting ready to start walking again but the inuyoukai didn't move. He stood his ground, his face set in an unreadable expression, like he was lost in thought.
Inuyasha swallowed several times to get over his embarrassment. "What is I-"
Sesshomaru put a hand on his cheek & kissed him deeply & with much more passion than Inuyasha could ever remember being kissed. It was slow & for once the half breed was ok with that. It was then he noticed he usually didn't pay much mind to the kisses to thoroughly enjoy them like he was at the moment.
When the inuyoukai pulled back he gave his mate a smile. Not a huge one, not one that showed all his teeth but one that still made Inuyasha's heart skip a beat. "I love you too"
As they finished up their walk around the park Inuyasha felt giddy, excited, like the first time the silver haired beauty told him that he loved him. It was like he was falling in love all over again. He clasped the demon's hand & smiled to himself, thanking every god out there he had a mate like Sesshomaru.
