My eyes flickered open halfway groggily as I absentmindedly reached for the covers. As my hands latched onto the soft boar fur, something caught my attention.

"GAAAHHHHHHH!" I shrieked as I realised a dark silhouette of a figure loomed over my bed, the flickering candle on the nightstand casting an eerie shadow over its turquoise blue face. Elevated marks shown I the dim lighting as blood red eyes smiled down at me.

No sooner had I sat up and thrown my punch had I realised the shadowy figure was none other than Fosset.

"Yaaouch! Careful where you aim that thing!" He grumbled as he rubbed his cheek softly.

"By the Gods!" I exclaimed, bundling the covers in my hands and pulling them up to my chest. My heart was beating a mile a minute as I tried to calm myself down. "Were you trying to give me a heart attack? Or make me punch you? Because if you were, you succeeded at both," I added as I caught my breath.

"No, I wanted to wake you," Fosset snickered, his hand dropping from his face. "Good right hook, though."

"Thanks, I get that often," I mumbled as I looked at my hand. Still blue. Good. I decided I should wait to show him my Asgardian skin tone, just incase.

"Hungry?" Fosset asked as he made his way to the kitchen.

"Bloody starving," I grumbled as I followed him out of the room. I draped my bear skin cape over my shoulders and slung my chain around my neck.

"Then get yourself ready," Fosset added as he grabbed his bow.

"Ready for what?" There was a long pause as he grabbed his arrows and stuffed them in his kilt.

"Ready to go. We have to hunt to get our food," he replied with a sly grin.

"Perfect," I said with a roll of my eyes.

"Sarcastic much?" Fosset chuckled. I smirked and pushed him out of the way as I exited the shack. I stopped in my tracks as my mouth hung open slightly.

"What is THAT?" I asked as a medium sized blue creature eyed me. It's red eyes surveyed my every move as it pawed the ground with it's claws.

"Frost Beast. You've heard of them, haven't you?" Fosset replied as he hopped onto it's back. A second Frost Beast approached me with a slight grunt. I took a step back as it came nearer.

"I have. In fact I've battled one before. It's just, these two are so...tiny," I said softly as the creature stuck his head under my hand, allowing me to stroke it.

"Their just juveniles. I've trained them to help me hunt," Fosset said as he patted his Frost Beasts head. I nodded softly and climbed onto it's back, grabbing the leather reigns in my hands.

"Ready?" Fosset asked, his voice enthusiastic. I nodded once more as he smiled happily.

"Then hold on," he said as he slapped the Frost Beast. The creature roared and started off at an extreme speed, the sudden commotion causing my Frost Beast to follow at the same neck breaking speed.

"How the in the name of the Yggdrasil Tree do you control these things?!" I shrieked over the raging winter winds.

"You don't," Fosset sniggered as he made a sharp turn. I turned as well, nearly falling off of the beast as we made our way past tall pillars of ice and cracking glaciers. "We're almost there!" The Jotun yelled as he leapt over a large crack in the ground.

I readied myself for the leap, latching onto the reigns with all my might as I closed my eyes. But all I felt was stillness and the wind rushing through my hair. I opened one eye slowly to find that we had stopped just inched before the drop off, my Frost Beast standing idle as if waiting for a sudden bridge to appear. I opened my other eye and slowly kicked the side of the scaly creature. It snorted in annoyance and eyed me before turning it's attention back to the gorge.

"Well, go why don't you," I said, pulling on the reigns to get the beast to move. "Go on and jump you big lug!" I growled as I continued to kick and pull. The beast snarled and bucked, throwing me off of its back. It let out a short roar and ran off in the other direction, leaving me lying alone in the freezing snow.

I stood up and brushed the small flakes off of myself before looking at the trench. "Fine, I'll go over it myself," I snorted. I felt my skin melt into fine feathers as my lips formed together into a beak. I let out a triumphant screech and lifted myself into the air. I soared over the large crevice and landed on the other side, transforming back into my normal form. I shook my hair into place and continued on my trek after my companion.

My bare feet sunk into the freezing snow as I called his name over and over again, the only response being the eerie echoes of my own voice bouncing off of the ice pillars that surrounded the crevice.

I transformed into my wolf form and followed his scent to a dense wooded area. A deep growl sounded from my throat as I thought of how long it could take me to find him in a forest full of strange scents.

'Stupid Frost Beast,' I mumbled to myself in my head as I headed into the quiet forest. I padded in and out of the shadows that lined the white blanket that covered the ground as my nose twitched softly, picking up each scent and investigating them carefully. The entire forest was silent. All that could be heard was the faint crunch of snow as my paws sank into's its icy coldness, the howling wind blowing my fur every which way.

I stopped for a moment under a snow covered tree, the miniature white flakes consuming the barren skeleton leaves and blocking the cloud covered sun, while I tried to pick out each of my surroundings.

My mind wandered off as I sat myself down slowly, and with a deep breath, I prepared myself as I got ready to make my call. My head lifted slowly and closed my eyes as I released my howl.

I had only gotten about five seconds in when a large creature crashed into me, knocking me into the snow covered ground. I lifted my just in time to watch as a medium sized Glyth bounded off into the trees.

I stood up and transformed back to my normal form, ready to summon my sceptre before I got thrown into the ground once again, this time by a Frost Beast.

I groaned and lifted my head to see Fosset sitting on top of the creature, laughing his ass off.

"Not funny," I growled as I stood back up, wiping the small white flakes from my skin.

"By the Gods! You...you should have seen the look on your face!" Fosset managed in a single breath.

I sneered at him as he gathered himself.

"Ahhh, that was brilliant," he chuckled looking at me.

His smile soon disappeared into a confused frown. "Where is Isen?" He asked suddenly, leaving me standing in the snow looking like an idiot.

"What?"

"Isen"

"who in the Nine Realms is Isen?!" I exclaimed with annoyance.

"Your Frost Beast. his name is Isen," Fosset replied, a ghost of a smirk present on his lips.

"How in the name of Asgard would I have known that," I grumbled while Fosset just stared down at me with a chuckle. I looked him dead in the eye suddenly, my eyebrow lifting up.

"May I ride with you?"

"Oh yes, of course," he said quickly, scooting up to make room for me.

I climbed on slowly and made myself comfortable, wrapping my arms around his mid-section and resting my head on his shoulder.

I felt Fosset tense up as he turned to face me.

"Um, Steven? Would you mind letting go?" He asked shyly, an embarrassed expression on his face.

I felt my cheeks burn like fire as I quickly let go, wrapping my hands around the edges of the leather saddle instead. Fosset turned around and tugged the reins as the Frost Beast started off. The rest of the ride remained silent, neither of us muttering a single word as we made our way home.
