Chapter Twenty-One:

Sharp, exploding pains inside of her; the tense and worried mews of Oakpaw and Skystorm in her ears, faint and light yet able to hear; the darkness that clouded her vision, the aching in her entire body as she fought to force what the white queen hoped was the last kitten out of her body.

"I really hope that isn't the last of the raspberry leaves," Skystorm harshly muttered under her breath from what Whitepetal could sparsely hear.

Thw white queen watched as Oakpaw sweot the leaves towards her, ordering her to eat them so it would help with the kitting, then turn back to the herbs that lay out in front of her. With a sigh, she turned to Skystorm. "I'm afraid that's the last of the raspberry leaves, Skystorm..."

"Better for Whitepetal than any other cat," Skystorm murmured, then turned back to the white she-cat in expectation. "Come on, Whitepetal... Just one more!"

One more?! This is insane! Whitepetal inwardly screamed, though the wail pierced the air as she forced the final kitten out of her aching and exhausted body. She then fell back onto the grass below her, panting from her ordeal.

She felt the warm purrs of Skystorm and Oakpaw next to her as three soft -and wet- bundles were placed at her belly. She felt them latch onto her and begin to suckle, and Whitepetal let out a small purr of love for the kits she had just brought into the world.

"They're all she-kits," Oakpaw murmured, gently rasping her tongue over Whitepetal's ears in a gesture of comfort and congratulations. "One white, one black, and one light brown with a black stripe running down her back..."

"They're beautiful, Whitepetal..." Skystorm purred.

Whitepetal weakly raised her head and licked each of her three kits in turn, naming them as she did so. "The white one shall be Snowkit, the black one is Coalkit, and the light brown is..." she paused, thinking for a name. "Ferretkit." she let out a purr and nuzzled each kit, the newly named Ferretkit squealing in alarm and went back to suckling.

My precious kits... Whitepetal thought as she watched the three bundles of fur squirm and purr in warmth and delight. I'll never let anything hurt you...

Or so you think, Whitepetal of HailClan... came a sharp, dark voice that only Whitepetal knew.

Sleetstar.

All right, so... I guess this isn't much of a chapter, but... It's a start to s sequel! Yes, I said sequel! :D
