A/N: I'd just like to apologize for any confusion I may have caused about Rose's hand thing. I hadn't realized I made her right-handed in the rewrites before, and I imagine it may have been confusing to some when she suddenly became left-handed. I've fixed it andt now I've come to my decision; Rose is right handed, therefore the Triforce is on her right hand.
Also, another thing I'd like to apologize is for the atrocious lateness of this chapter, once again. I recently started watching Supernatural, and kind of got caught up in all of it. This could have been up and out a long time ago.

Chapter 8: Forest Temple (East and North)
When I woke up again, Bethany and Link were awake and my cloak -that I specifically remembered putting on her while she slept- was draped over me. I raised an eyebrow as I sat up, but said nothing of the matter. There were brief morning greetings before we got down to business. That business being discussing the East Wing of the temple
"Right, so there's two rooms that branch off from here, and I can guarantee that there's monkeys in the both of them that need to be rescued. There's also a doorway to outside, but it's those wind-bridges we saw earlier. The wind's died down, so they won't be of much use to us unless we can control the wind."
Link, Bethany and I were grouped together on the floor, looking over the map as we agreed on what we would do next.
"I think we should split up. Link and Midna, Celia and I." Bethany suggested. I gave her a curious look. "It'll save time. Something tells me the sooner we rescue these monkeys, the sooner we can get out of here." she elaborated. I nodded my head at her, looking to Link for his approval or disapproval of the idea. He thought on it, before also nodding his head.
"As long as your sure you'll be able to handle it." he decided, looking back at me. I raised my eyebrow.
"The sword training has been helping a lot. I can take it." I stated. We stood up, then, and headed towards the eastern doorway. The second monkey we'd rescued waved his arms eagerly from where he hung on the connecting rope. As before, Link went first, then Bethany, then me. Luckily there were no embarrassing accidents that time around, and we swiftly entered the East wing.
I quickly warned Link about the Deku Likes and how to defeat them, wanting to get it out of the way as soon as possible.
"How do you know all of this stuff about these monsters?" he'd asked. I shrugged at him.
"Like I said, I spent a lot of time in the library when I was younger." I answered. Bethany and I planned to continue ahead of him, but that plan was very far out the window when the Baba Serpent sprung up from the ground directly in front of the stairs. It wasn't the easiest thing to take down, and I literally yelled, "I hate those stupid things" when it finally died. That got a shaky laugh from Bethany, and I could tell it had scared the heck out of her. Luckily, there weren't any more pests to deal with on the ground floor.
It has been agreed on that Bethany and I would go to the room higher up, and Link would go to the one that required a bombling to reach the entrance.
Instead of taking a leap of faith over an at least five foot gap, I used Farore's wind to get me and Bethany safely across. Now that we were alone, she began to question me.
"So... how did you get here? When did you get here? And how did Oocoo know you?" she asked. I sighed. I knew this would have had to have been coming for some time now. I was just hoping it would be later, when I knew how to explain it properly.
"There's no way to make the long story short, so I'll try to simplify it as much as I can." I began. "I was born in Hyrule nearly a century ago. There was a demon king of some sort who wanted to kill me, because I was born with some special power from the goddesses. My mom opened a portal, basically, to another world when he attacked Castle Town. She turned me into a baby again, hid my memories away, and sent me through it. Now it's time for me to come back." I explained as we entered the room. The Big Baba and Deku Like were in the centre of the room, and I could hear the monkey screeching in it's 'cell' behind it on the other side of the room.
"But, how-"
"I told you I'll explain when we kill Diababa." I said sharply. "We need to focus on the situation at hand. Which is, getting rid of that thing," I jerked my thumb to point at the monster. "And freeing the monkey."
Bethany nodded her head, but she looked anything but happy with it. She waited by the door, still lacking a weapon, while I got ready to take care of the thing in front of me. The key that unlocked the monkey's cage was glinting innocently on the ground, and I briefly thought that maybe I could use my new ability to get it, but I was a second too late in making my decision. The Big Baba snatched the key up in it's needly mouth, hanging above the Deku Like's mouth and dropping it in. Promptly afterwards said mouth contracted, tightly closing.
I sighed, looking up at the ceiling. Something told me this wasn't going to be fun. I was brought back to the present when the Baba head lunged at me, and I dove out of the way. It missed me by mere inches. I'd have to keep my guard up from now on. I saw it rearing back as I drew my sword, and I knew what was coming next. I rolled to the side when the head slammed itself onto the floor in an effort to crush me, and it missed once again.
It stayed on the ground for several seconds, obviously dazed from its impact with the ground, and I utilized those few seconds to attack. The monster's skin was tough, that much was true. It took a few more tries before the irritating thing died, disconnecting from the Deku Like and shrivelling in on itself. I shuddered, kicking what remained of the head away from me with my boot. The Deku Like's mouth opened wide again, and I thought for a moment as I tried to remember what came next. A movement in my peripheral vision reminded me; bomblings.
"What are you waiting for Celia? Take a bombling and make that thing explode!" Bethany called from the door. I glanced back at her, giving her an irate look.
"I know that, I just remembered." I told her. "And... there's probably one more thing I should mention." I added as I walked around the Deku Like to the right-side bombling nest. "My name isn't... isn't actually Celia. My parents named me Rosalie, Rose for short." I explained. I pulled my shield from my back, not paying attention to her reaction, as I neared the nest. The one on top that had been standing crouched to walk forward, and as it made to attack I bashed it with my shield. The fuse began to burn and I knew I didn't have much time. I quickly snatched the bomb creature and darted back to the Deku Like as fast as I was able, throwing it into the open mouth. I knew from our experience in the main room of the East Wing that the Deku Likes didn't explode, per se, when you put a bombling in their mouth. They had extremely thick skin, so the damage was restricted to the inside.
The key was thrown out when the bombling went off, and I grimaced at the slimy coating it now had. I would have to deal with it, unfortunately. It didn't mean it wasn't disgusting, though, and I still made a face when I picked the key up to free the monkey.
Much like with the first two, the monkey squealed and squeaked happily when he was free, before following at my heels as I went to return to Bethany.
"Right then, shall we?" I asked nonchalantly, gesturing to the door. She was frowning softly at me, and didn't reply. "Bethany? What's wrong?" I asked, concern leaking into my voice.
"I feel like I already knew your name was Rose, but I don't know how or why." she admitted. I thought on it for a moment, shrugging it off.
"I'm sure it'll be explained. Maybe by Faron once we get out of here. Now let's go meet up with Link."
After regrouping with Link and the monkey he'd rescued, we returned to the main room and followed the female monkey up the stairs to the North exit to the outside. The wind was back, and seeming much stronger than it had been yesterday. The first monkey climbed her way onto the suspension rope still connecting the two parts of the temple. The second monkey jumped towards her, and she tossed him further out onto the rope. The same process was repeated for the next two monkeys until the four of them were spread out across it.
It was clear what they wanted us to do, and even I remembered it. I hadn't liked playing this part out, and I had no doubt it would be even worse in real life.
"Um... no offense to the monkeys, but I'd rather not put my life in the hands of monkeys." Bethany admitted from beside me, and I saw her inch backwards a little bit.
"Just meet us back in the main room. We probably won't be long." I said, and she looked at me.
"What about you?" she asked. I raised my eyebrow.
"What about me?" I retorted.
"You're scared of heights. Don't you think that may be a bit...problematic?"
I frowned at her, nearly pouting. I hadn't wanted Link to know about that part quite yet. In fact, I'd have been perfectly comfortable with him never knowing at all, and me getting over it in silent terror. Well, putting it that way made it sound overdramatic but that was the gist of it. In the corner of my eye, I saw Link watching us curiously. I knew he wanted to ask, and beat him to the punch.
"I fell out of a tree house when I was really young and ended up breaking my arm. Ever since then I've been afraid of heights. But I can handle it." I insisted. I saw him sigh at my stubbornness, but I also saw that even he was nervous about making this jump. I definitely didn't blame him for it. It was an incalculably long drop were one of us to fall... on second thought I wasn't gonna think about that at all.
I came back to my senses quick enough to see Link make the first jump. I was completely nervous, my nails biting into the skin of my palms, until he was on hard land on the other side. Now it was my turn...
'Just don't look down...' I reminded myself. Then I jumped, keeping my eyes either up or focused on the other side of the large gap. The first monkey caught me, and I briefly swung with her before she let me go. Her hands were quickly replaced with another furry set, and this pattern continued until I, like Link, was safely on the other side.
"That...wasn't so bad." I told a little white lie. In truth, my heart was beating like a jackhammer in my ears, and adrenaline was making my hands tremble. I folded them behind my back to hide it. "Right, let's get this over with, shall we?" I suggested evasively just as he looked about to speak.
The door was a bit stickier than the ones before it, and I ashamedly admit that I jumped a foot in the air when the wooden gate dropped in front of it, locking us in when it closed. Link almost laughed, but his attention was quickly brought to the monkey standing on a wooden totem-pole looking pillar further in the room. There were a circle of similar ones around it, and it was twitching like it was hyped up on caffeine, or sugar. It let out a loud screech and lifted its arm, revealing the Gale Boomerang before hurling it towards the ceiling. It cut two Baba Serpents loose and turned them in our direction. I let out a discontented groan. This was not going to be fun, or easy.
"And this is why I'm not a fan of monkeys." I sighed aggravatedly. Link and I had been at this for awhile now, and this stupid monkey was starting to annoy both of us. A lot. We'd gotten three hits so far, but the thing kept freaking dropping Baba Serpents on us! I kept up a consistent string of irritated exclamations as we continued fighting off the serpents. Taking a quick glance at the ceiling, there were only a few left undisturbed. But those things could come from anywhere, unfortunately.
I heard Link grunt in pain behind me, and I turned just in time to see a serpent attempt to latch onto his torso. Its teeth nicked him, probably making it through the chainmail in the brief moment they had gotten around him, but I wanted to sigh in relief when he managed to get away in time to take it out.
"Watch your six." I called to him. When he took out the last baba he shot me a brief but confused look, before turning back to take care of the monkey finally. "It's a saying from back on Earth. It basically means watch your back." I explained. He nodded at me, but kept his eyes fixed on the taunting monkey -as that was, exactly what it was doing; taunting- as it danced around on one of the pillars before throwing its boomerang at me. Link took this opportunity to slam into the pillar and rock it, throwing the baboon off balance as I dodged the boomerang, and said baboon regained its balance just as the boomerang hit it, knocking it to the ground. And that last attack was all it took before it gave up.
The monkey got to its feet, throwing its head and screeching, hopping around to get away from Link, before crashing into the pillar in the centre of the circle. Apparently the impact was enough to knock it out, however briefly, because it crashed to the ground seconds later. The bug that had been latched onto its his was dislodged, and curled in on itself as it died. And the boomerang that had fallen to the floor earlier spun up from the ground, forming a cyclone. I knew that the Fairy of the Winds was talking to Link, but was disheartened to discover I couldn't hear her as well. It felt like a reminder that I wasn't a part of the proper storyline, my past and prophecies aside.
The boomerang flew about the room in its cyclone for a few seconds longer before going straight to Link's hand. He caught it with ease, and just as he did the monkey came to. It seemed disoriented, like a human would look if they were asking "what the heck just happened to me". Then it tensed, a tiny squawk coming from its throat as it slowly turned around. It screeched in fear when it saw us, jumping up to the pillars and out of some exit in the side of the tree. I stared after it for a long few seconds, before shaking my head slightly.
"Right... so, that happened." I said conversationally to Link. I noticed the side of his tunic was slowly staining red where the baba had nearly bitten him. Well, it had, if only a little bit, broken the skin on his side. "You okay?" I asked. He shrugged one shoulder at me, inspecting the wound to the best of his ability.
"That could have been a lot worse. I'll be fine." he decided. "So how do we get out of here?" he asked. I looked around, shrugging, before pointing to a propeller-like thing in the wall above the door. It looked like the ones the wind bridges used.
"Maybe that will lift the gate?" I suggested. "This thing... it's like a portcullis. I'm just wondering why it's here at all, if the temple is even supposed to be like this." I mused, studying the wooden gate that blocked our path. I couldn't tell how it was meant to be lifted and dropped, it was too dark, but I already knew it had something to do with the Gale Boomerang, so I just left it at that. If I tried too hard to understand, it would just get more complicated, and then we wouldn't get anything done.
Link had caught onto what I meant when I pointed to the propellor, and he took a few experimental throws to get the hang of the boomerang after I returned. The wooden portcullis was raised in just a few throws of the magic boomerang. I grinned to myself when Link wasn't looking. This was awesome. Even with the injuries involved. But... it would be better if we hadn't gotten hurt.
"Right, let's get out of here." I said, anxious to get outside again. That room was really stuffy after the first ten minutes. I let out a quiet groan when I realized something, just as we stepped outside. "Aaand the monkeys are gone." I sighed. Then I remembered how we were supposed to get back to the main area, and the reminder was accompanied by the creaking of a wind-bridge to our left. I smacked my hand to my forehead as I realized I should have known that was there. I was the Twilight Princess expert of the gang, after all, and yet it flew right over my head. I'd leave it be for now, nobody was expected to be perfect after all.
"Ah. Those were the bridges we couldn't use earlier." Link pointed out. I nodded my head as we approached them.
"But now we can, because we have the boomerang. Convenient how that all works out, huh?" I asked. He just shrugged at me, turning the bridges accordingly so we could was another caged monkey, and an angry Bokoblin awaiting us on the other side, though both were quickly dealt with accordingly. Midna appeared, then, to offer her two cents.
"Huh, I guess there's some monkeys you still haven't freed yet! You should just save them, maybe you'll get something for it!" she suggested. I hadn't expected her to appear when she did, and the resulting startled jump I gave made her giggle loudly before returning to Link's shadow.
"Midna might be onto something with this one." I said honestly. "Maybe another puzzle, or another crossing somewhere else like that one." I pointed to where the destroyed bridge was. "Either way, it's a good idea." I finished. Link nodded, and we proceeded to return to the east wing with the fifth monkey following close behind. Link seemed a bit surprised when he realized where we ended up once we were back inside.
"And we cleared these rooms already?" he asked, to confirm. I nodded at him.
"Everything important." I replied.
"Well it sure took you guys long enough!" Bethany exclaimed, though her tone was teasing, when we returned to the center room. I rolled my eyes at her.
"Yeah, well you try making quick work of a possessed baboon with a magic boomerang." I shot back with a grin. "Now that we've got said boomerang, we can go into that other room with a wind bridge, the indoor one." I added, remembering that important detail.
"So. Into the west?" Bethany asked, and I chuckled at the movie reference.
"Yeah yeah, into the west." I agreed, my laughter trailing off. Link had a confused look on his face -I was becoming very familiar with that expression- and I just shook my head, saying,"Another reference to Earth", and that was answer enough for him.
I couldn't help but be pleased with our progress. Sure, it didn't take a number of hours like it often did when I played the game, but we were making good headway. I just really hoped that Lady Luck remained on our side 'til it was all over.
But then, when was luck ever on the good guy's side?
A/N: Again, atrociously late, I'm sorry. The end was giving me trouble. But there you have it, my lovelies.
