Chapter #14
"Please be welcome to our humble home." Said Kerith with a slight bow, along with his sister.
"Thanks." Muttered Angel, equally bowing with Aubrey, as a sign of respect.
"So you two are Angel and Aubrey, am I correct?" Asked Kerith.
"Yes, indeed we are." Replied Aubrey, "And with who do I have the pleasure, if I may?"
"My name is Kerith, and this is my sister, Jaryn." The albino replied, slightly pointing himself and his sister. "We've heard great things of you two."
"Well, thank you." The redhead said with a smile, "But, I must apologize, who are you two, exactly?" She asked as politely as she could.
"Hadn't you two heard of us?" This time it was Jaryn who asked.
"I'm sorry, we hadn't."
"We happen to be the Glitterati twins, the greatest dancers in the city." Jaryn said, somewhat upset.
"Oh, I see. Then why did you call us?" Asked Aubrey.
"We wanted to meet the fabulous Lu$h Crew, of course." Said Kerith.
"We didn't know we were that famous." Admitted Angel.
"Well, indeed you are, my fellow dancers… indeed you are…" The blonde showed a devilish smile.
"You don't want to battle us?" Aubrey asked, surprised for such a strange behavior from their hosts. Usually people like this -which claimed to be better than them- wanted a dance battle, which usually ended up in them, the Lu$h Crew, wining.
"Why would we want to do that?" The pair asked, almost laughing.
"Well… isn't that why you invited us here?"
"My dear, we wanted to meet you, as I've already said." Kerith laughed. "Why would we want to give you two, such a magnificent dancers, a humiliating defeat? We're mercy masters, we won't humiliate you."
Aubrey felt her blood boiling in anger, something told her it wouldn't be wise to lose control right now, but rage was not something she could easily control. "And what makes you think you are better than us?" She asked, trying to keep herself calm, though it was most noticeable that she was certainly angry.
"There is no particular reason." Kerith said with a smug look in his pale, handsome face. "We just believe that your greatness is no match for us."
"I think not." The redhead sentenced.
"Do you think this wise, dear?" The albino asked, still smiling.
"Yes I do!" She yelled, enraged, "And stop calling me 'dear'! We're nothing!"
Angel tensed at the turn the situation had taken; Aubrey enraged and the twins confidently smiling. That couldn't mean anything good. "Aubrey, cariño… I don't think this is a good idea…" He whispered, taking her arm.
"Do you think they are better than us?! Do you think us insufficient to defeat them?!" Aubrey screamed at him, hands crawling into fists.
"No, preciosa, I mean…-" He started, but was unable to finish.
"Didn't you say we were the best crew ever?! Now you want us to surrender to those freaks?!"
"It would be wise to listen to your partner, Aubrey." Kerith said, smugly smiling.
"You shut up! Our business does not concern you!" She yelled. "I thought we were a team!"
"We are Aubrey!" Angel screamed, "But listen to me!" He then grabbed her by the arm, drawing her closer in a harsh move, rude as he had ever dared to be towards her, but there was no other way to make her understand. "Just watch them, they are up to something, and something tells me we should better play their game for now, instead of loosing control like this!" He whispered. Aubrey, however, seemed oblivious to his words, as her tensed body turned towards the twins, shooting them daggers with the eyes, "Aubrey listen! We must act like we are on their side!"
The redhead shot him a glare yet, with a softer expression, she agreed, "Fine."
The twins' smile seemed to widen at the pair's behavior. Something was wrong, something was very wrong indeed.
"Well, now that you seem to have finally settled, what do you say if we go to the level below?" Asked Kerith. "It would be wonderful to have dinner with you tonight." He explained, "You look lovely, after all."
The redhead couldn't hold an annoyed groan, yet she forced herself to thank, "Why, thank you."
Angel, on the other hand, felt anger boiling beneath his flesh. How did he think he was to compliment his girls like that?! He didn't have the right! He had no right at all! Aubrey was his! And his only! But, hey, if you lose control now, you're gonna screw it all up, so behave yourself, for her sake. The Latino sighed, trying to maintain himself under control as Aubrey grabbed his arm.
"This way, please." Said Kerith, elegantly moving, along with his sister to the elevator behind them.
The tall figures walked past them in quick steps, clearly trying to annoy the already annoyed redhead, who kept her lips firmly pursed. Arm in arm, the twins moved along, ignoring the public as they entered the machine, before making a sign to the other couple to go with them. Indignant, the pair almost lost both their self-control, yet something kept telling them it wouldn't be a wise thing to do. Reluctant, yet decided, Angel and Aubrey followed their host into the elevator. The metallic doors were about to close when Aubrey's slender frame crossed the threshold, however, a pale, long arm stopped them from harming the redhead's fine body.
"It seems I've just saved your dress." The albino said with a smirk.
"It seems so." Aubrey coldly replied, slightly moving closer towards her partner's body.
The redhead casted a sight upon her Latino companion, noticing his sudden silence at the situation, and she realized, surprised, that Angel's anger was just about to get through the surface, ready to terminate the twins.
"Calm down, Angel…" Aubrey whispered, as she moved closer to him, so her lips would meet his ear, "We have to keep this facade." She said, them softly caressed his arm, getting a surprised look from her partner.
After Aubrey's eyes silent words, Angel's lips formed a shill smile.
"Didn't know you were dating." Commented Kerith behind them.
Aubrey immediately turned, narrowed eyes, "Oh we just started dating five minutes ago." She replied, cuddling towards Angel, who kept a bereft look in his handsome face.
Kerith arched his eyebrows, "Such a beautiful lady, from such a powerful family, shouldn't you deserve something so much better than the scum to who you so lovingly hold?" He asked, leaning into her.
"Keep your distance." Angel warned, shooting him a killing sight.
"Let him, my dearest brother." Jaryn said, "You deserve so much better."
"Oh, but look at her, sister! She is a proud and beautiful woman, had we seen someone like her before? So stubborn, so fierce, so skilled?" Kerith said, ignoring Angel.
"Flattery means nothing to me, Kerith." Aubrey responded, using his name for the first time, "I hope the meal does not tastes as horrible as your annoying behavior."
"Oh, it won't." The albino replied, finally stepping back. "It won't."
A dark room materialized before them as soon as the metallic doors parted. Black glassed walls raised in the dim light of the room, as a black marble floor poorly shine beneath their hills. Silver veins ran up and down the glass walls, elegantly tracing bounded G's.
In the middle of the room, there stood a glass table, already filled with the proper tableware for the occasion, supported by fine, beautifully crafted, metal pillars. A curious candelabrum keep its position in the perfect height of the room, poorly illuminating the hosts and their guest. Six chairs made their way around the rectangle that was the table, each one as perfect as the other, patiently awaiting for a new occupant.
"Please, take sit, our meal will come shortly." Said Kerith, pointing the table.
Without a word, Angel and Aubrey did what they were told to do, sitting next to each other as they carefully studied the twins, which were taking their respective sits I'm the table.
Not long after, a pair of slender youths -a male and a female-, entered the room, carrying big plates each, when they both placed what they had came to put I'm the table, another two youths entered, equally carrying silver plater. Soon, the table was full of silver plates, each containing what seemed to be an exquisite dish.
"You can take whatever you want." Jaryn said, smugly smiling at them, as if awaiting something magnificent to happen.
"Oh, please, you go first." Said Angel, shooting daggers at Kerith, who held the same smile as her sister.
"Oh, no, please, we insist, you're the guest, after all." Said Kerith.
Finding no other argument to use, Angel and Aubrey filled their plated with food of various types, silently rating the quality of each dish. Kerith and Jaryn quietly observed their guest with amused looks in their pales, slender faces, obviously enjoying their discomfort. After some minutes of cutlery crashing, the twins followed their guest.
Aubrey almost regretted implying the food would taste horrible as soon as she took the first mouthful into her mouth. It tasted like paradise. Dear god, she did not remembered the last time she had eaten something so wonderfully prepared, it almost seemed like this was something she used to eat in her childhood. Although, she silently cursed the albinos, for reducing them to so little with simple words. What are they hiding? She questioned herself, as she took another bite. Angel seems to know something, a voice inside her replied.
Angel couldn't deny that this had an amazing taste. It was wonderful, and it was annoying. His hate would not settle with simple food, he was well aware of that. And yet, something abruptly interrupted his thoughts of hatred towards Kerith; Aubrey had said they were dating. He had kept a blank expression to hide his surprise, but he hadn't been able to hide his jealously when Kerith had so openly flirted to her. And still, he couldn't stop thinking on why, why had she done that. A explosion of emotion blurted inside of him, happiness and curiosity being the dominant ones in this confusion.
The meal, though silent, was quick to finish. Their plates empty, and their bodies satisfied with the food. It was strange, however, the fact that they hadn't been asked to dance this whole time, and even more surprising when their host did not at the end of the meal. But it seemed a but obvious, though, remembering what the pair had said earlier.
"It has been a wonderful meal, I must admit." Aubrey forced herself to say, not forgetting her modals.
"I told you you wouldn't regret it." Kerith said, smiling. "Now, I imagine you two are desperate to leave this place, are you?" He asked.
"Pardon me?" Aubrey asked, surprised.
"Don't you want to spend this wonderful night with your new sweetheart, dear?" The albino asked with a suggesting tone.
Aubrey couldn't hold her blush, "No! We are not doing something like that in our first night as a couple! But we are certainly leaving, we have business to attend." She said, getting up as fast as she could, followed by Angel.
"Very well, then." Kerith said, still smiling.
The redhead felt an urge to slap him and erase that annoying smug smile from his face.
"I guess we'll meet again." The albino got up in a quick move, followed by his sister. "Because we will meet again, Lu$h Crew." He said, approaching.
"I look forward to it." Aubrey said in a cold voice.
"It was a pleasure to meet you." Said Jaryn, kissing both of their cheeks without any warning.
"Same." They both replied.
"It was a wonderful evening." Kerith said, softly kissing Aubrey's cheek. Angel's face turned red in his anger, and Kerith smiled at his sight, "Until the next meeting." Then he let go off Aubrey.
"I hate them!" Aubrey screamed, rubbing her cheek desperately, trying to erase Amy sign of Kerith in her skin, "Those freaks…"
"You're not the only one…" Angel groaned, arms crossed.
"Did you see how that bastard treated me, how he treated us?!" Aubrey pointed up, to the ceiling of the elevator. "They were mocking us! They are going to pay for this…"
"I know…" Angel said, the added, in a lower voice, "That bastard touched her and flirted with her in front of me, I'm not forgiving this…"
"What was tat, Angel?" Asked Aubrey.
Angel raised his gaze to meet hers, "I said that he touched you, and I'm not forgiving him for that." He said harshly.
"Oh…" Aubrey could help blushing at his evident honesty. "Well… thank you…" she said in a whisper.
Apparently, Angel seemed to notice this abrupt change in her voice, for he immediately turned to her, then realized what he had just uttered; a hard blush took over in his tanned features as he quickly looked away, not daring to meet her eyes. "You're welcome…" he muttered, embarrassed for his own sudden reaction.
Moments of uncomfortable silence followed, as neither of them dared to say a thing, and those moments did not stop until they reached the ground, and quickly entered the car, for the night had become colder, and they both wanted to go home.
"Could you please take me home?" Aubrey shyly asked, not looking at him, and speaking for the first time in a while.
"Of c-course…" Angel replied, still having that awkward blush on his face.
An uncomfortable silence fell upon them again, as it had done so many times before, but this time, it was uncomfortable, and unbearable for the two of them.
"We caused a perfect impression, brother." Jaryn said as they watched the car getting lost in the distance.
"Yes, we did, my dearest sister." Kerith replied, "They come back again."
A devilish smile formed in the lips of the two of the twins, which looked forward with the confidence proper of a monarch.
