Chapter 3- Cat's out the bag

"I...N-noo..Wait...I...what I'm trying to say is..that...ummm...well...the others..I"

The corner of Lily's mouth involuntarily twitched up in amusement at the amount of terror she had brought to the boy. His eyes twitched and darted
around the compartment, never stopping at a particular spot for more than a second. A dribble of perspiration slowly crawled its way down his nose, as though
it too was afraid of the famous red head's wrath. She purposefully took a step forward with predatory grace.

"Well what. Potter? Cat got your tongue."

Her perfectly groomed eyebrows raised into a high arch as she slowly started tapping her right foot with impatience. James followed her movements with his eyes not daring
to move a single muscle. His gaze slowly travelled down her body to rest on the elegant piece of wood wrapped securely in between her fingers. He weighed the chances of
coming out of this confrontation with all limbs attached and decided that the best way to go about it and come out with only minor injuries was to rip it off fast, like a bandage.
He took a deep breath and raised his head so his hazel eyes could connect with her brilliant emerald one.

"Your dream... yourdreamwasntexactlyadreamimheadboy." he rushed finally letting go of the breath he was holding.

He saw through his peripheral vision the others draw back, pulling their arms up to shield themselves from the inevitable volcanic eruption of epic proportions. He too clamped
his eyes shut, waitting to feel the sting of a hex. He waited and waited but didn't feel the awaited sting. He wondered why he was still unharmed, slowly opening his eyes with trepidation.
There in front of him stood an adorably confused Lily.

"My dream..What? Honestly Potter, did you really expect me to understand that garble of words?"

"Ummm..."

"Can you please repeat it, and this time about 10 times slower, so that i can understand it?"

James nodded his head in understanding and took another deep breath. Oh Merlin he thought, he was surely a goner this time.

"OK. Soo...You...know...that...dream..."

"FASTER!"

"IT WASN'T A DREAM...I AM HEAD BOY!" James squealed in a high pitched girly voice, stealing himself for the blow. The others took in an audible breath,
cringing at Lily's thunderous face, and pressing themselves against the compartment walls hoping to sink as far into it as they could.

"What. what did you say potter?" she asked her voice deadly quiet. her knuckles turning white as she tightened he grip on her wand. No one dared move
as they noticed a wild glint find its way into her eyes.

"I said..." he took a steadying breath..."that I'm head boy."

He watched her nostrils flair and red sparks emit from her wand. she opened and closed her mouth, giving the impression of a gaping fish out of water. though the expression would look
unattractive on anyone else, he had to admire just have cute Lily made it look, his mouth curved up into a small smile. he realized to late that Lily who noticed the small smile had taken it in
the wrong way. Her eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as she gave him a look that could have killed.

"OUT!" she suddenly shrieked at the others pointing towards the exit. They didn't need to be told twice as they made a mad dash for the exit, trampling over each other and ending up in a pile
of limbs outside the compartment door. Others walking by gave them strange looks, but after taking a peak inside the compartment they understood why. Their eyes widened in fear and
amusement, torn between staying to watch the spectacle and running as fast as they could in the opposite direction. Finally their fear won over as they rushed off.

After a whole lot off grumbling and cursing the five students managed to untangle themselves and get their limbs to their respectful places.

"Well. That was entertaining, poor prongsie, he doesn't stand a chance." the others nodded their assent at Sirius' comment.
He looked back into the compartment only to give out a loud "OUCHH!" as Lily slammed the door in his face.

The others grumbled and made their way into the only empty compartment left, with faces so sombre some stopped to ask who died. A few more curses and unintentional kicks later
everyone was comfortably seated, Sirius still nursing his bruised nose.

BANG!

The compartment door swung open, startling the others out of their sorrowful gazing. Standing by the door was a short stout make. His brown hair, hanging limply.
His round cheeks held none of its usual warmth, his eyes were small, closing in on itself. His parlour so pale he could have been mistaken for a Hogwarts ghost. Remus
was the first to recognize the stranger.

"Peter. Is-is that you?"

"Remus, Sirius, Arabella, Marlene, Alice"

he nodded at each in turn as a way of greeting.

"You look like shit mate." Sirius, as brutally honest as always stated. Though his words were insensitive, his eyes shone with true concern for his friend.

"Bet I do.." Peter muttered.

"What happened?" Alice asked

"Just haven't been getting much sleep lately," is all he said as convincingly as he could, though by the skeptical cough he knew his friends didn't buy it. He gave
them a look that said I'll tell you later.

"So what happened to you guys? Look like someone right about died. And where's prongs, gotta congratulate him on getting head boy, who would 'ave thought yea,
I thought Moony had a shoe in fo' sure"

The others looked at eachother and each launched into telling the story, talking over one other or correcting the other if someone got the details wrong, while
Peter tried to make sense of the overload of information.

"STOP!STOP!" Peter yelled trying to get the others to quite down so he could connect the garbles of information he got for the 5 different people.

"So.. Lily thought Remus was head boy, but then James walks in and tells her that he's head boy, and she faints. The when she wakes up, she thinks it's all a dream
and then James tells her that he' s head boy and she kicks you all out and slams the door shut?"

"Yes!" five different voices chorused.

Peter got up from his seat and went towards his bag in search of something.

"Whatcho looking for mate?" Sirius asked curiously, suprised by Peter's actions.

"Getting a head start on writing Prongs' eulogy." was his reply. The others looked at him with understanding.

Ara frowned in disapproval, she had been friends with Lily since first year when Lily had saved her from a few slytherins, and knew that Lily wouldn't go as far as killing
James. Her friend was usually collected and never hexed anyone unless provoked. She rarely turned to violence, but then again this had something to do with James,
which meant Lily was unpredictable, she had a tendency of breaking all her rules when it came to James. Ara smiled in amusement, recalling Lily's long rants on James Potter, the toe-rag as
she referred to him. She did feel sorry for James though, after all even a blind person could see how truly and madly in love he was with her best friend. She shook her head, trying to get
thoughts of how cute Lily and James' babies would look, glad Lily couldn't hear her thoughts.

"What do you think Ara?" asked Marlene.

"Huh?" she asked. she was so absorbed in her thoughts she had missed what the others had said.

"What do you think is happening right now with James and Lily? Sirius thinks their in there snogging after Lily finally confessed her love for James."

Ara snorted in amusement, knowing her friend would rather kiss the giant squid then ver say James Potter and love in the same sentence.

"Hey it could happen!...if someone drops a really strong love potion in there." Sirius cried.

"Anyways... Peter thinks she's probably using the cruciatus on him. Remus thinks she's probably burying his dead body...Alice thinks he is being put under the imperius so
that he can go and tell Dumbledore he wants to quit. And I, I think she is probably thinking of a 1000 ways to kill him and not get caught." Marlene finished.

Ara rolled her eyes at their dramatic predictions.

"Merlin...Your worse than that old bat Trelawney. Lily is most likely fuming silently, and hoping its one of his pranks, then considering writing to Dumbledore to make sure James isn't
lying."

"Then leats make a bet, shall we?" asked Sirius never one to let an opportunity to make bets slip by. The others agreed and soon everyone had made their bets, sure they were going to win.

"Well... I guess I'm about to find out, got prefects meeting, unless its canceled because a head is dead...See you in a bit." Remus said, standing up and making his way towards
the compartment door.
The others said their goodbyes.

"Seeya.."
"TELL US WHAT HAPPENS"
"Don't get caught in the cross fire mate.."

The occupants of Hogwarts Express felt a jolt, signalling they had finally arrived at Hogsmeade Station. The girls and boys got down from the train. The looked everywhere, but still no
sign of Lily and James or Remus.

By the time they had reached the castle, they all had only one question plaguing their minds.

'What happened to Lily and James, and where did Remus disappear of to?'
