Chapter 15: First Mission at Sabertooth
Lucy POV
The next morning, I woke up and looked to the other bed, where Laxus was sleeping. I couldn't help but blush whenever I looked at him now. Ever since I realized I loved him, I can't help but blush whenever I see him. Getting my feelings in control, I got out of bed and headed to take a shower. After a five minute shower, I got out and got dressed. When I got out of the restroom, I saw that Laxus was still asleep. Chuckling to myself, I decided to go prepare breakfast before Laxus woke up.
As I entered the kitchen, I couldn't help but smile to myself. Laxus and I had a place of our own and that meant that we wouldn't have to worry about where we would spend the night anymore. Just like any home, however, there was rent, so I started thinking about that while I cooked. I remembered that Laxus and I had split the rent, but rent meant that we would have to go on a mission. The idea of going a mission with Laxus got me excited. As I finished this thought, I finished making breakfast. I had decided to cook something simple, some eggs and bacon.
"Laxus! Breakfast is ready!"
Laxus POV
I was sleeping comfortably when a shout woke me up. "Laxus! Breakfast is ready!" I grunted and then lazily got out of bed. I headed out to the dining room where I saw Lucy sitting waiting for me.
"About time. I was about to eat your breakfast."
I snickered at that and said, "You haven't even touched your own breakfast yet and your talking about eating my own?"
She blushed and turned before saying, "yea well, I was waiting to eat till you got here."
I couldn't help but blush at that and said, "Y-yea. Thanks. Let's eat then. I still have to get ready."
As we were eating, Lucy spoke up. "Hey Laxus?"
"Yea?"
"How about after this we go on a mission. We'll have to get rent money eventually. Better get it out of the way now."
"Sure. It's been a while since I've gone on a mission. It'll probably be too easy though, since we have to choose from the regular board."
"Yea but some of them pay well."
"True. Fine." I finished my breakfast and went to get ready.
After I finished my shower and changed into a good set of clothes, I walked out of our room where Lucy was waiting for me.
"Finally. Let's go! I can't wait!"
"Yea yea I'm coming."
After a ten minute walk, we arrived at the guild hall. It was 10, so you could hear the commosion going on inside. When we walked in, heads turned to our direction, but then turned away when they saw who it was. We walked over to the mission board and started looking for a mission that would pay well.
As we were looking for a mission, the guy called Sting walked up to us. "Sup. Are you looking for a mission?"
Lucy replied with a nod before continuing to scan the board. "Yea but all of these missions are too easy and don't pay too much."
As she said that, I spotted a mission that would pay good enough. "Hey Lucy, how about this one?"
She turned to me and I handed her the job request. It was asking for mages that would be able to take out a group of bandits that have been harrasing the village for a few weeks now. It was paying 120,000 Jewels, so if we completed it, we would have enough money for the rent and still have 15,000 Jewels each for whatever we wanted. She nodded and we went to get it approved. Apparently, the person we had to talk to was Minerva. I had a bad feeling about this.
Lucy POV
We walked over to where Minerva was and told her that we were going on this mission. "Hey Minerva! We're taking this mission. Got it?"
Laxus sighed before Minerva spoke up. "What'd you say?!"
"Are you deft or something?! I said Laxus and I are taking this mission! Is that clear enough for you!?"
"Are you trying to pick a fight with me?! 'Cause I don't mind teaching you a lesson in how to speak to your superiors."
"Funny, you took the words right out of my mouth."
"Why you—"
Before we could continue, Laxus spoke up. "Calm down you two. Minerva just approve the mission so we can get going. You two can settle this later."
Minerva turned with a 'hmph' before saying, "Fine. Go on your mission." But then she turned to me and said, "We'll settle this when you get back. We'll have a one-on-one match to see who is the stronger of the two."
I smirked and said, "Fine by me. I'll be glad to teach you a lesson."
"Just get going. The sooner you get back the sooner I can beat you."
"Don't stay up honey. I'll be back sooner than you think. Come on Laxus." I pulled Laxus's hand and pulled him to the train station. Once we purchased our tickets, we boarded the train and settled down and waited for the train to depart. After a few minutes, it left the station and after three hours of waiting, we arrived at our destination, a little village called Lupius.
"Such a weird name. Come on Laxus. The sooner we finish this mission the sooner I get to fight Minerva."
"You're looking forward to that fight."
"Well, yeah. I'll finally get to prove to that Minerva that I'm not as vulnerable and fragile as she makes me out to be."
After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at the house of the chief of the village.
"Hello there sir. We're the mages from Sabertooth."
"Ah yes! Thank you for coming. Those bandits have been messing with our village for a few weeks. All we are asking is that you take them out and arrest them."
Laxus nodded and we walked to where the bandits were known to attack. Once we spotted their hideout, we nodded to each other before charging into the hideout.
"Wha—"
"Hello there. I'm Lucy. I'm here to take you guys out!"
Before any of them could react, I sent a Regulus Impact at them, knocking out half of them. The other half were knocked unconscious when Laxus hit them with a Lightning Dragon's Roar.
"Well that was easy."
"Yeah. How about you go get the reward while I finish things here."
I nodded before saying, "Sure. Meet you at the train station?"
"Yeah."
After getting the reward, I headed out to the train station where I bought the tickets for the train ride back to Sabertooth. After a few minutes, Laxus arrived and we boarded the train.
"Here's your share Laxus."
"thanks. Are you looking forward to your match with Minerva?"
"Yeah! I'll finally get to show her how strong I am!"
With that and Laxus laugh, the train headed out and we started our way back to Sabertooth.
