In the Decepticon's headquarters, Megatron was angry at how the Autobots were dwindling his forces when Shockwave walked up to him and said, "Lord Megatron, I regret to inform you that Knockout is offline." Megatron slammed a fist into the table and said, "I never expected the Autobots to be so brutal like this. Shockwave, is he ready?" Shockwave nodded and said, "Affirmative, Scorponok is online and will be ready for fighting in a few cycles." Megatron nodded his head and said, "Good, they're plans will all fail when our newest Decepticon takes the field."
Present: Optimus Prime rolled along the road to make sure the Civilians were all safe. The Number of Decepticon attacks was low since they took out several key Decepticons. Soon he received a call from command and it was Karma. Karma said, "Prime we got a massive Decepticon signal coming towards Metroplex! You're right in his path too!" Prime pulled the brakes hard and transformed. That was when he saw it, a giant ship like Decepticon flying over him. Optimus then shouted, "SEND JETFIRE MY WAY AND PREPARE METROPLEX NOW!"
"Roger that!" Karma said from their base as the Constructibots built Autobot City. Karma slammed a button that sounded alarms all throughout the city and he shouted, "ALL BOTS! DECEPTICONS INCOMING! I REPEAT! DECEPTICONS INCOMING! ALL DRONE PILOTS DRONE UP! JETFIRE PRIME NEEDS YOU AT HIS LOCATION ASAP!" Jetfire nodded his head, transformed and flew out of Autobot City. Karma hopped into his Drone seat and booted up his drone. Ironhide then ran to Metroplex's spark and said, "Metroplex! We got incoming Cons! Get your guns ready!" Metroplex soon came to life and got his weapons systems online. Soon the ship that Optimus saw came into view and hovered over them. Megatron walked into view and laughed before shouting, "DECEPTICONS! ATTACK!" and the seekers under his command transformed and flew into battle as Metroplex's guns began to open fire.
That was when Optimus arrived in his Jet Powered mode and saw Megatron. Before he could attack the Decepticon leader, the Matrix of Leadership began glowing inside him. Optimus then teleported away from the battle. Megatron chuckled and said, "Seems like the Autobot Leader is a coward." Wingblade flew past him and shouted, "HE'S NO COWARD MEGATRON! UNLIKE YOU!" She then opened fire at Megatron. Meanwhile, Optimus looked around and saw that he was in the Arctic Circle. Landing on the ice, They reverted back to their separate bots and looked around. Jetfire asked, "What happened Prime?" Optimus looked at him and said, "I don't know Jetfire, The Matrix brought us here." Soon the Matrix glowed again and a beam of Light shot towards a point on the surface.
Walking to the point on the ice, Optimus and Jetfire saw the ice move away and the shape of the Matrix appeared. Optimus took the Matrix out of him and placed it in the spot. Soon the whole area began to shake. Jetfire wanted to leave, and Prime said, "GO! I'm staying here." Jetfire wanted to take Prime too but it was too late. Soon buildings rose through the ice and and the two Autobots were shocked to see the Autobot Symbol on one building. Suddenly, a light shined on Optimus and a voice was heard saying, "Identify…" Optimus and Jetfire looked at each other before looking back at the light.
"I am Optimus Prime, Leader of the Autobots. Orion Prime is gone, I have the trust of the Autobots under my command." Optimus said towards the light. The Voice then said, "Acknowledged. Fortress Maximus at your command, Optimus Prime." That was when Jetfire said, "FORTRESS MAXIMUS?!" Optimus looked at Jetfire and asked, "Have you heard of this bot?" Jetfire looked at his leader and said, "He was a powerful Autobot in the war. Orion Prime sent him off world to find a new place to fight the war from but we thought he was lost along the way." Optimus smiled and said, "Fortress Maximus, we need to get back to Autobot City!"
"Understood." Said the Voice of Fortress Maximus before the whole area began shaking again. Suddenly, another Cybertronian ran out a doorway and shouted, "YOU TWO! GET IN HERE!" Optimus and Jetfire nodded at each other and ran towards where the Bot who called out to them. Inside, Optimus asked the Bot for his name, and he said, "My name is Cerebros, Headmaster for Fortress Maximus." Jetfire was shocked and said, "CEREBROS! I thought you and the others were all killed?! Orion Prime said…" Cerebros looked at Jetfire and said, "That is what he wanted the enemy to think, we were ahead of them in the headmaster line and we didn't want them to get headmasters so we had to fake our deaths."
"Wow, still. It's good to see you Cerebros." Jetfire said to him. Cerebros nodded his head and Optimus asked, "Who are the other Headmasters?" Cerebros led them to the other Headmasters and Optimus Prime noted there were four other Autobots. Cerebros then said, "Allow me to introduce to you the other headmasters. Chromedome and Stylor, Brainstorm and Arcana, Hardhead and Duros, Highbrow and Gort." Optimus looked around and said, "You said eight names, but I see four other Autobots." The one that was Chromedome then said, "Just wait, alright Headmasters, let's transform." Optimus then saw the four Autobots transform and their heads changed into smaller Autobots.
"I'm Stylor. The head of Brainstorm's Arcana, Hardhead's head is Duros. Finally Highbrow's head is Gort." Said the bot that was Chromedome's head. Optimus nodded his head before Cerebros then said, "I have already been told by Fortress Maximus about you and I told them." Optimus prime nodded his head and said, "Understood. Headmasters, I may not be the leader you knew. But I will do my best to lead you in the right direction, if you choose to follow me into battle." The headmasters transformed back to their bigger bots and Chromedome said, "Not to worry, we trust you'll lead us well."
Back at Autobot City, Ironhide was punching a Decepticon Drone when Megatron slammed his fist into him. Ironhide got back up and dueled Megatron in a hand to hand combat and was getting pounded when Bumblebee came in and kicked Megatron in his faceplate. Megatron growled and grabbed Bumblebee's head and was crushing it when Wingblade came in and attacked him from behind. Megatron shot at her, shooting her out of the sky. Suddenly, Optimus Prime dropped down and kicked Megatron away from Bumblebee.
"Good to see you Prime, but what happened?" Bumblebee asked his leader. Optimus then told him, "The Matrix took me and Jetfire to a new team of allies for us." Optimus then pointed up as Chromedome and the other bots dropped down from Fortress Maximus as Cerebros looked on and said, "Fortress Maximus! Let's show these Decepticons what the headmasters can do!" Then Fortress Maximus transformed with Cerebros forming his head. Megatron was speechless and shouted, "THE AUTOBOT HEADMASTERS?! IMPOSSIBLE!" Optimus pulled out his ax and shouted, "AUTOBOTS! ATTACK!" and all the autobots charged forward at the Decepticons. Fortress Maximus walked forward as Shockwave activated Scorponok to transform. The two giant robots clashed with each other as the Decepticons and Autobots fought on the ground and in the sky.
Optimus slammed into Megatron and the two leaders dueled as Chromedome and Hardhead provided cover for their leader. Megatron roared in anger and tried to kill Optimus as Elita-one jumped over him as she grabbed his arm, causing Megatron to spin and his blast struck her arm. Elita-one screamed in pain and that made Optimus shout, "TOKA! I MEAN ELITA!" Optimus then pulled out the Star Saber and sent Megatron flying backwards. He then ran to Elita and held her close before shouting, "RATCHET!" Ratchet ran to them and began working on Elita-1's arm. Optimus let Ratchet tend to Elita-one before looking at Megatron and said, "Now you've made me angry."
Optimus pulled out his hook and sword, charging at Megatron and punched him time and time again before cutting off Megatron's arm and slamming his hook into Megatron's face and pulled hard, making Megatron's head come off and killing him. The Decepticons were shocked as Fortress Maximus destroyed Scorponok's arm as Starscream shouted, "DECEPTICONS! RETREAT!" The Decepticons then retreated as Optimus shot at them more. Ironhide and Bumblebee got Prime to calm down and stopped his firing.
Later, Optimus got out of his Drone and ran over to Toka as she got out of her drone. John checked her arm and saw that her arm was still good so he held her tightly and kissed her as he was worried sick about her. Toka held him tightly too. John then said, "I'm so glad you're ok." Toka nodded her head and said the same thing. Later on, the drone pilots were celebrating Megatron's death as Red Alert got another Autobot lifesign and asked to go check it out. John nodded his head and said, "Sure, Mimura, go with him." Mimura nodded his head and got into his drone.
Inside a copper mine, Red Alert and Hot shot were walking when they came across an Autobot stasis pod. Opening it up, Red Alert saw an old Autobot friend of his. Hot Shot asked Red Alert, "You recognize this bot?" Red Alert nodded his head and said, "Yeah, his name is Scatter Shot. Not like the technobot, but he's a tank" Soon Scatter Shot came around and said, "Red Alert? What's going on?" Red Alert told him, "it's a long story old friend." Outside the mine, Scatter Shot was in awe about what happened until a dark purple bot appeared in front of the three.
Earlier, after the Autobots left the battleground, Megatron's body suddenly got warped away to a distant Galaxy, where he was rebuilt and brought back online. Megatron looked around and asked, "Where am I?" Soon a booming voice was heard and it said, "I have brought you back as my servant." That was when a planet size transformer appeared and Megatron said, "Unicron?!"
