Chapter 2
The worth of a life
*warning: this chapter deals with several touchy and sensitive subject matters i.e: suicide, depression and self harm. you have been warned
2 months had passed since Dylen found himself in this new world, but life could not have been any better for a variety of reasons. Over the past 2 months Dylen was accepted into monsters university as a scaring major much to the pride of his adoptive parents, but it of course came with training as humans were not natural scarers. Dylen was also surprised at the overwhelmingly increasing amount popularity he had received for being the first half human half monster hybrid as well as just the first human in the monster world in general.
*first day at mu*
"monsters university, anybody getting off" said a female monster in the front of the bus
Out of a rush the bus was almost empty by the time sully and Dylen got off the bus. The school
Was quite crowded by the time sully and Dylen got their photo id's and dorm keys.
"room 302, hey what room did you get?" sully asked Dylen
"215, why do you ask?" dylen responded
"cuz we passed it 3 doors down" sully replied
"damn it!" Dylen running back to the door that he had missed
Upon reaching his dorm dylen found the door open with a furry orange monster with horizontal yellow stripes and a jaws theta chi jacket unpacking his things, only to turn and take notice of the young man standing in the doorway.
"hey, you my new roommate?" the orange fuzzball asked blushing slightly
"uhhh...uhh...yeah." dylen stammered returning the blush
"the name's George, George Sanderson"
"name's dylen crodavich"dylen said
Dylen felt a sort of special sort of romantic attraction to this monster who was clearly male, but he did not say a word about it as he was not sure how the other felt. the two boys continued to talk to each other as they continued to unpack their stuff which took at least an hour to do.
"hey cool sword, where'd ya get it?" george asked
"oh this thing, uhhh...I had it my entire life" dylen stammered
"hey you thinking about joining a fraternity by any chance?" George asked
"actually I got asked to join omega howl earlier today." Dylen replied
"did you agree to join?" george asked
"well yeah omega howl is like one of the top three fraternity's here. being adopted into a famous scaring family also means that i have an image to uphold. Although i can see you're in one, jaws theta chi was it?" dylen asked
"Yes that one." George replied
"well I gotta go meet Leon now so see ya at dinner kay?" Dylen said
"wait can I come with you?" george asked
"yeah sure why?" Dylen responded with a questioning tone
"well i know this is gonna be a little weird but i think i might have a crush on you." George said blushing "so far you're one of the few people or monsters rather since you're half one other than my frat bros that actually cared about me" he continued
"george..."dylen was quite happy knowing that his feelings had been reciprocated
"lets just say i kinda feel the same way." Dylen said while embracing his new-found boyfriend "and you need to explain some things latter" dylen continued
"will do." George replied
Dylen wrapped his hand around Georges hand as they walked out of their dorm unknown that a man in a black cloak was following them. The unknown man silently stalked george and dylen through the crowd of monsters, vanishing as soon as they got to the omega howl frat house
"what the-?" dylen said in a startled manner
"something wrong dylen?" George asked
"it might just be me but i think someone was following us" dylen replied
"you know who?" george asked
"no but I think the person was human and wanted something from us" dylen replied
"hey dylen glad you could make it." said a pale purple monster
"hey Leon" Dylen replied
"not even the first day and george already found a boyfriend eh?" said a giant hulking red monster wearing the same jaws theta chi jacket that george was wearing
"Roy!" George said bashfully
"after what he went through with his last boyfriend you better take really good care of him. Ya hear me omega howl freshmen?" Roy said showing fierce protectiveness over his orange furry frat brother
"believe me I will" dylen replied
"good I hope so." Roy said fiercely
"i'm not one to break promises" dylen replied just as fiercely
At least ten minutes had passed since Dylen's initiation into omega howl which had to be somewhat rushed because of how late it was getting.
"now you have explaining to do." Dylen said while hopping on to his bed
"about what?" george asked
"about what you said before we left our dorm and Roy said earlier." Dylen replied in a serious tone
"Ohhh that" George said with a sigh"well lets just say I had a rough life." George said
George pulled off his jacket to show some patches of fur missing and several cuts along his arms and his sides
"George!" dylen said in a surprised tone
"i know you would be shocked but I've been pretty suicidal" George said solemnly
"for how long? Dylen asked
"Almost 12 years now" George replied with a sad look
Dylen got up from his bed and lovingly embraced george
"You can tell me what happened" dylen said in a gentle caring tone
"well you see it started it 12 years ago when I was 6. Back in elementary school, there one boy in my class who i liked and he kinda liked me to."
"so you were boyfriends then?" dylen asked
"you could say that." George responded
"So what happened." Dylen asked
"well our classmates found out and some just turn out right nasty. Shortly our parents found out and decided to forcefully separate us." George said
Dylen punched a wall in anger from what he had just heard, how could george's parents have separated him from someone he like, by force no less.
"dylen, you ok?" george asked
"how could you're parents be this cruel? Were they like this for the past 12 years?" dylen yelled out angrily
"unfortunately yes." George replied
Dylen walked over to george and gave his beloved boyfriend a deep loving hug with george's fur changing colors as he blushed.
"don't worry George I'll stay with you... forever. And anyone who has a problem with us can just piss off cuz they don't matter."dylen said showing his strong desire to make George happy "and promise me that you will stop cutting. ok." he continued
"thank you dylen... a lot. and i promise" George said happily embracing his lover in return
Just outside the dorm room stood Roy happy that he is able to trust dylen with George and his promise to take good loving care of him. However a large bang from some where on the monsters university campus shook the dormitory budding causing the students to go out side and see what had happened.
"what the hell?" dylen said
"oh no the library is on fire" said a girl from the pnk sorority
"hey Dylen" Sulley called out
"huh! Sulley what the hell is going on?"
"i wish i could tell ya little guy, but I'm afraid i don't know." Sully said "hey who the hell is that?" he continued pointing to some human like figure coming out of the library who was covered in blood, and was infact a human when dylen came up to him
"hey you alright how did you get into the monster world?" he asked the blood covered man
"the same way you did now die"the man screamed as he proceeded to attack dylen
"young master use me to fight him" yelled Igtinos which dylen did appropriately as he keeps Igtenos with him on a daily basis.
