Epilogue: The Future
I wish I could say things were easy after I moved to the DWMA, but let's face it: things were never going to be easy for me. Not only was I the only existing Kishin Blade but I was also kind of kick ass. Suddenly, everyone knew my name, my weapons, and a lot of other creepy things. Apparently saving the DWMA's ass elevates you to celebrity status. My relationship with Black*Star only cemented that, I suppose.
After our move, Black*Star and I grew stronger with each passing day. Kishin Blade was an amazing asset, but Professor Stein, Death Scythe, and Lord Death were always worried that my madness would move into my meister, so we had check-ups every few weeks. So far Black*Star's black blood cell count hadn't increased and neither had mine, so we were in the clear, but on strict orders to stay away from chain resonance. This, of course, made Team Maka unable to resonate all together, but the other two pairs didn't mind much.
For a while things seemed to be going normally. Black*Star and I hunted Calypso in our spare time, usually all sorts of resource, including some friendly witch's, but we were unable to catch up with her. Considering her sisters are two of the most notorious witches of all time I should have expected her to be tough to catch, but it never occurred to me. If the squid-witch was as cunning as Medusa and Arachne, then I knew it would take me a long time to finally get my revenge. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and damn, my heart was already fond of the idea of taking her soul to turn me into a Death Scythe.
Last, but not least, there was the problem of Armageddon. We had scoured the coral castle over and over but there was no sign of the Dark Weapon, and no one said they had seen him. Lord Death had made it top priority to track it down and bring it back for destruction but I wasn't feeling too optimistic about his chances. A weapon that powerful could pretty much do whatever it wanted, to rules of physics or biology need apply.
Somehow, I knew that it wouldn't be the last I was seeing of the weapon.
For now, though, It was easy enough to relax in the sun. Professor Stein had given us a break from all the dissection and we were on a 'field trip', which pretty much consisted of him taking us to the Death City Zoo and trying to haggle for the rare animals that it kept. Nearby I could hear Maka rambling on about the Komodo Dragon, and if I listened closely I could hear… the squeal of a pig?
I bolted upright from the bench, gaping around to find the sound. The ground was already shaking with the force of hooves, and soon enough it came: a huge wild boar, with a too-ecstatic bluenette assassin sitting on its back, yelling out his trademark "Yahoo!" as he galloped towards us. I slapped my palm to my forehead, trying to avoid the looks I was getting (like I was supposed to be able to control him, or something) and got to me feet. Some might say standing in front of a charging boar is stupid, but when my boyfriend's on said boar, I feel as if I'll be okay. Sure enough, it stops with its sharp tusks an inch away from my nose. Black*Star smirks down from its back, raising a cocky eyebrow at me.
"What the hell are you doing?" I ask crossly, irritated that he's ruined my afternoon of sunbathing.
Black*Star snickers, like it's obvious, and says "I'm riding a pig!"
Okay, so maybe it's sort of obvious.
"Yes, Captain Obvious," I snort, trying to hide my blush. "But why are you riding a pig?"
"A big star like me doesn't need reasons to do things, Kai!"
"You don't have a reason, do you?"
"Not at all!" He grins, and holds out an arm for me. "Wanna' join me?"
I can see the crowd's disapproving stares, but then I make eye contact with Maka. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head, already knowing what my decision is going to be before I even grab his hand. In the distance I can hear something that sounds suspiciously like Stein yelling Black*Star's name, but we're already galloping away at a speed that I hadn't thought possible of any sort of pig, wild or not.
So maybe the Exchange Program didn't turn out the way I thought. Maybe my meister is a bit dumb sometimes, lazy, arrogant, smelly, rude… well, need I go on? Black*Star isn't a meister that most weapons would stick with. But then again, most meisters wouldn't be able to handle me, so I hardly have any room to complain. He's a good guy, better than I could have hoped for.
So, Black*Star's not a knight in shining armor, riding a steed, but I feel like an assassin riding a wild boar makes a better story anyways.
As for Calypso and Armageddon, I know I'll get them someday… but that's a different story.
Important Author's Note!
Okay, let me just say: Wow. EWME! is officially the first full-length fic that I've ever written. Nearly 200 pages on Word, over 73,000 words. That's a pretty cool thing to be able to say, I think. It's also a little sad, because I'm going to miss this story but... well, I have some good news! You all reacted pretty quick to my 'Yay or Nay' and so: a sequel! I've already got it partially planned, so you should be seeing it soon, and I'll end this A/N with the description.
Onto my next bit of business: topics. I've already decided to do the sequel, but I want to do some more fics as well. I have been sitting on a few, and I want your opinion. The topic options are: Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online, or Fairy Tail. Before you vote, note that my fanfic for Fairy Tail is WAY more developed plot-wise than the other two, and the one for Blue Exorcist is close behind that one. I would love you all to leave a note in the reviews or PM me. It's much appreciated.
So, without further ado, here's the description of the awaited sequel: The Experimental Weapon/Meister Games!
The Exchange Program was a bust, but now you're in for it! Meant to strengthen the bonds between each of the DWMA branches – and give students a chance to prove who really deserves to be called the greatest pair! But uh-oh, who's that new girl? Will our heroes be able to defeat the DWMAA? And what the hell is with Black*Star? Join our heroes once more as they not only fight for their pride as meisters and weapons, but also their lives in: the Experimental Weapon/Meister Games!
