Hi! Hope you've all have a wonderful New Year and that 2014 will be a wonderful year for everyone! Thanks xx R&R
Lily glared at the clock. Time is such an arsehole. How can it be almost time for Charms? I used to love that subject, now I am begging the clock to slow, desperately delaying the hell that will soon come.
Stupid Danielle Davison. Why must she exist? Can she just leave? I can't deal with her on this planet; can she just go to a different universe and stay there forever? Knowing her, she will still annoy me from there.
Lord, may the great Slut Gods for dishonoring that wonderful institute of Slutdom strike her down.
*RING*
"Oh yey. Time for Charms." Lily's voice dripped with sarcasm, causing James and Sirius to snicker, "How may I contain my excitement?"
"Aw, come on, Lils. At least you have your 'bestie' to sit next to!"
"Seriously, Mary, she makes me want to throw a flaming chair at her face. And I don't believe in violence."
Someone chuckled darkly behind them, "Is that why you once punched me?"
"Well, James, you did ask for it. You should know never to touch my hair without permission."
He laughed once more, sending shivers up Lily's spine. He had the oddest effect on her; she used to want to curse him into oblivion as soon as he opened his dumb mouth, however recently his presence caused her to become a lovesick fool. She often wondered if it was actually possible to feel such hate for someone, then suddenly fall in love with them so much it hurts.
Curse my hormonal teenage self! Why must I feel thing? Can I be an emotionless, stone-heart robot instead please?
Lily groaned. There she was. Danielle Davison. Twirling her hair and giggling like a tortured chipmunk. Feeling like a prisoner walking to the gallows, she took her seat, praying silently for a lesson full of silent note taking.
Professor Flitwick stood at the front and called out in his squeaky voice, "Right, students, today it will be a practical lesson. We will be attempting the Invisibility charm, and as we discussed the theory last lesson and you did an essay on it for homework, you should be particularly au fait with the technique. I will come and collect your homework, as you work. Off you go."
What have I done to the universe? Jesus Christ, kill me now.
"Omg! Lily! I haven't seen you in like foreeeeeeeeever!"
"Well we have been on holiday." Lily's sarcastic tone sailed right over Danielle's stupid head.
"I have like sooooo much to tell you!"
"Oh...great."
"So, Me and Fran went to the party…"
Kill me now.
James had mastered the charm twenty minute ago. He was unbelievably bored and Sirius was asleep. As he doodled a small sketch of a broomstick, his mind wandered.
Why cant I just leave? I have a bloody long Defence Against the Dark Arts essay to finish and I really can't be arsed to spend my whole night on it. Screw Charms, I'll do it now. If he catches me I'll just pull the "I'm-Head-Boy-so-I-have-tons-of-shit-to-do-instead-of-wasting-my-time-doing-some-dumb-spell-that-I-don't-even-need-as-I-have-a-cloak-that-does-it-for-me" excuse. Maybe I'll word it slightly differently.
James began to read the material for his essay. Soon the words seemed to blend together as his concentration faded rapidly. He looked around the classroom for something to cure his boredom, his eyes settled on Lily.
This is so weird. I'm supposed to be moving on, but she is everywhere. I know that I need to let her go, as nothing will ever happen, but I still feel the same. Everytime I look at her, it's like she is taunting me, showing what I'm missing if I forget about her.
Merlin. I sound like a bloody girl. I need a Get Over Lily Plan. Right, here it goes:
Step One: Get really drunk.
Step Two: Get a really hot bird.
Step Three: Move on with life.
I think that will work.
Lily had also mastered the spell and had given up trying to help Danielle do it too. Instead she entertained herself with imaging killing the slut, it filled her with sadistic joy.
"Then we totally shagged. So it was a good Christmas."
"Ho. Ho. Ho." Lily's voice dripped with sarcasm, once again unnoticed by Davison.
"Btw, Lily," She lowered her irritating voice to a whisper, "You're like well friendly with Potter now, right?
That isn't even English. I want to throw a dictionary at her just to see if it penetrates her thick skull.
"Yes, I guess so."
"Amazballs! Do you know if he's single?"
"I think he is." Lily felt her hands shake with jealousy.
"Perf! I'm gonna ask him out."
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, YOU STUPID WHORE. YOU CANNOT ASK HIM OUT. I WILL CUT YOU, BITCH.
"Ok. Do whatever you want."
HOW DARE SHE. THIS IS A SHANIQUA HOLD MY EARRINGS MOMENT AS I AM LITERALLY SHAKING. I AM GOING TO SLAP HER SO HARD, HER NECK WILL SNAP. I AM GOING TO-
"Right, class, that was the bell. Just practice that for homework. Class dismissed."
In her jealous rage, she hadn't even heard the bell. While muttering angrily to herself, she managed to get to Potions without killing anyone. It actually scared her how angry she was. Then it hit her. This was how James must have felt when she dated Liam.
"Merlin, Lily! Are you punishing your stuff?"
She looked at James, wanting to hug him and tell him she got why he hated Liam so much. She shook her head, "No, I'm just irritated from Charms."
"Why, Lils?" His gorgeous eyes seemed full of concern, making her heart flutter.
"Oh it was nothing," It wasn't nothing! It took some idiot to make me realize what I did to you! I am so sorry! "How did you find the Invisibility Charm?"
"It was so easy. Flitwick must have been kidding when he was going on about how difficult it was." That's the cocky James Potter I know. "How did you find it? I mean, I saw you finish not long after me." And there's the sweet one that notices things like that.
"Yeah, it was pretty easy." She bit her lip, desperately thinking for something to say that wouldn't completely embarrass her, "What do you think of Danielle Davison?" That was the best you could come up with?
If James found Lily's question odd, he hid it well as he tilted his head, thinking, "She's alright. She's pretty fit, nice smile, decent personality….cracking body." He winked cheekily at Lily, causing her to half melt, half want to punch something, "Why do you ask?"
"She said she's going to ask you out," Lily blurted out, "I…erm…didn't want her to get hurt."
James smirked and began to flick through his textbook, reminding Lily that they needed to get on with their Potion. She looked trough her book also, trying to ignore the urge to scream/cry/kiss James.
When did my brain start thinking about kissing James Potter? This goes against the laws of the world. The Earth spins, Lily Evans hates James Potter and James Potter asks Lily Evans out. I need to lie down.
The Head Boy and Girl worked on their Felix Felicis in silence, adding ingredients and stirring without a word for most of the lesson.
"I think I'd say yes." James broke the silence, barely looking up from his textbook.
"What?" Lily felt as if the classroom started spinning.
"I'd say yes if Davison asked me out."
"Ok." Lily replied quietly, trying to stop her hands from shaking.
*RING*
As soon as the bell rang for lunch, Lily sprinted out of the dungeon and headed straight for her dorm, where once more James had reduced her to crying on her bed.
"Hey! Prongs!" Sirius threw a bread bun at James' head, which he skillfully avoided, "Does Double D keep staring at you and whispering to her mates?"
"What? Oh yeah, Davison's going to ask me out." He replied in the nonchalant way only the most popular boy in school could.
"Are you a Seer now as well as a nerdy Head Boy?"
"Piss off, Padfoot. Lily told me."
"Why would she tell you that, O psychic one?"
"I am not going to attempt to understand a girl's mind. She was acting weird all lesson and if sharing a dorm with her has taught me anything, is to not ask questions."
"She's coming over."
"Who? Lily?"
"No, you prat. Davison. Merlin, I remember why we call her Double D."
"Moony, do you know how to shut him up?"
"Believe me, if I did, he would be a constant mute."
"Alright, Potter." Davison said in what she obviously thought was a sultry voice.
"Hello, Davison." James smiled at her, she seemed fairly normal.
"I was wondering, do you want to go out with me? There's a Hogsmeade visit soon and before that we can just hang out."
Bloody hell, that sounds like more of a command than a request.
"Yeah, ok."
"Adorb. Do you wanna meet up tonight?"
"Erm, ok."
"9:30 beside that creepy cat statue?"
"Sure."
"Perf. Laters."
"Bye."
James turned to his friends, completely confused; the other Marauder's seemed to share the feeling.
"So…that was quick."
"Brilliant observation, Wormtail." Sirius rolled his eyes as he ate another potato.
"I wish all girls were that easy." Remus muttered into a book.
"No way, that was scary. I felt like a dog getting ordered around."
"First, don't insult my fellow canines. Second, why the hell are you complaining? You've got over Lily and got a hot date with a fit bird in about 2 seconds. You should be proud, mate, she is well fit."
"I guess so."
Lily stared at her ceiling. It was a very nice ceiling. She had decided this about an hour ago. It was 10, she had finished her homework, read every magazine/book she had, painted her nails, washed her hair, dried it, curled it, did some extra Potions reading and she had no urge to sleep. The one night she had nothing to keep awake for, she couldn't sleep. The irony was painful.
Her mind seemed to want to torture her, rather than allow her the sweet release of sleep. Over and over again, she imagined James and Danielle together and each time it broke her heart even more. She had never felt jealousy or pain like this, it consumed every fibre of her and seemed to stab her like a knife. She had stopped crying ages ago, the tears appearing to run out, now she was left with just pain.
Exasperated she shoved on some clothes and went out of her room, aiming to go for a walk. The sight of his door halted her. The gold plaque of his name struck her heart like a physical blow. She had to leave the dorm, everywhere screamed James Potter. Lily ran though the corridors until she was in the courtyard. The fresh air seemed to calm her slightly, it slowed her beating heart from a mad speed to just rather fast. She now walked slowly, wandering aimlessly through corridors, not knowing or caring where she was, all she wanted was James out of her head.
I recognize this painting. I was here once with Liam. I think it was Halloween. Ignoring the aching in her chest, the pain from both Liam and James, she continued down the corridor.
Then she saw them. Locked together in a passionate embrace. Practically snogging the life out of each other. His hand on her back, her hands in his hair and shirt. One of her legs coiled around one of his.
James Potter and Danielle Davison.
Lily turned and slowly walked back to her dorm, with tears in her eyes and the image of the boy she loved and the girl she hated imprinted on her mind.
