HAPPY BDAY LILY POTTER (for thursday!) Cheers for the views/reviews for the last chapter! Love you guys!
(If you listen to the music mentioned, you can kind of get a better idea of the effect. You don't have to, but it does help xx)
Lily couldn't open her eyes. Her brain knew she had to, but it couldn't muster the strength to lift her eyelids to reveal the emerald eyes to the world. It seemed to be too concerned with her pounding headache and the nauseating smell of stale alcohol. She attempted to run her hands through her hair, however it was captured by another. This is when Lily Evans began to panic.
As someone who rarely drank, Lily did not really know who alcohol affected her; she never would have guessed it would lead to her waking up with her hand held by an unknown presence. What had she done? Is this a hospital bed she was lying in and the hand-holder a loved one worried for her safety? Was this some random guys bed and she had…'completed the mission'?
She opened her eyes slowly and with great effort. Lily found herself to be lying on someone in a white t-shirt; they had a lovely toned, yet comfortable chest. Her eyes fell on their hands, intertwined, looking like two pieces of a jigsaw that fit together perfectly. His hand, his gender was obvious, was felt lovely against hers; it was much bigger, warmer and comforting. She spent ages staring at their hands contemplating their perfection, until she began to panic once more. She lifted her head slowly so she could see his face, hoping for…actually nothing could really improve this situation.
"Morning, Lily." His voice sounded more husky and sexy than usual, still she knew who it was. She was in bed with James Potter, with no recollection of how she got there.
*THE PREVIOUS MORNING*
Lily's eyes snapped open at the sound of her alarm. She was not a morning person, not by any stretch of the imagination, however she did love her wake up tune. Who could not love 'Good Morning' from Singin' in the Rain? It changed her morning mood from the usual 'I will kill you if you make any noise or attempt to touch me' to 'Shut the hell up…. please'. Lily mouth curled into a half smile. Something else lifted her mood…IT WAS HER BIRTHDAY!
Omg! I am 18! I am officially an adult in both of my worlds. I feel oddly different; maybe I will become amazingly mature and sexy. Haha, yeah… that is never going to happen. But still I am 18! Woooo!
She felt like leaping out of bed with joy, she actually silently walked to her shower. She may be buzzing with birthday joy, but she couldn't register it before her morning shower. Lily could only smile properly after the lovely warm water and the smell of her Soap and Glory Citrus Zest body wash (It was better than any wizard ones, so she had about fifty in her trunk to last her all year).
After doing her makeup without any tears of frustration and her hair decided to cooperate today, Lily felt abnormally happy for 7:50 as she skipped into the Heads Common Room to collect some books she left in there last night.
"James! Are you ready? 'Cause I'm going to breakfast now." She yelled up the stairs.
That's weird. He would usually be up waiting for me, all smiling and morning-ish. Jesus, the one day I am worth talking to, he has died/gone deaf.
Lily went back upstairs and knocked on his door, "Are you even awake yet? James?" She began to bang on his door, knowing, as he is a light sleeper, that it would definitely wake him up, "Oi! Are you coming or not?"
Still silence. She rolled her eyes and opened the door, ignoring the childish excitement of being in James Potter's room. It was empty. His school bag was gone, all his books and uniform were not there either. He had obviously forgot her birthday.
Way to ruin my birthday mood, Potter.
Lily walked to the Great Hall, feeling bored and alone with the Head Boy's jokes and stories trying to get her to smile so early in the day. On a Friday they always shared a bar of chocolate on the way, but this Friday, she didn't feel like eating chocolate on her own. She felt so annoyed that he had managed to ruin her birthday so early. Then she realised none of her friends had remembered, no one had said anything on the way to the Hall, even though she had passed loads of Seventh Years, who knew what day it was.
This is officially the worst birthday ever. She could feel waves of self-pity threatening to take over, but she had to pretend it did not bother her that everyone had forgotten. She instead plotted on ways she could make them sorry.
Before she could even enter the Hall and blank all her friends, she heard music. What the hell? Why is music playing? I bet it's someone else's birthday that they actually remembered. Arseholes.
As she entered the Hall, she realized what song it was. It was "International Smile" by Katy Perry, her favourite song.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY" She heard her friends scream. She squealed happily and ran and hugged them all.
"Oh my god! I though you had forgotten my birthday!"
"How could we forget it when you have been talking about since…forever." Sirius smirked
"Did you do all this for me?" Lily gestured to the fireworks that were now exploding in time with the music and the streamers erupting from them.
"As much as I would love to take the credit, it was all Prongs' plan."
She twirled around and saw James with a chocolate bar in his hand, grinning.
"Happy Birthday!" he said before the Head Girl hugged him tightly.
"Oh my GOD! This is amazing! Thank you!" She still had her arms around his neck; she blushed massively, "Oh! I love this song!"
He grinned once more. Suddenly they were standing on top of o the tables and he was dancing widely.
She burst out laughing and began dancing just as crazily. Soon all the Gryffindor Seventh Years were on top of the table dancing.
"Professor Dumbledore, shouldn't we stop them?" Professor McGonagall asked over the blasting Muggle Music.
"No, Minerva. Leave them to their fun, soon they will leave Hogwarts with only memories and be in a dark and dangerous world. Let them make such wonderful memories that their youthful light will remain glowing." Dumbledore replied with his brilliant blue eyes twinkling.
"Lily. Stop smiling so much, it's freaking me out."
"Am I not allowed to be happy, Potter?"
"Well…fine, smile like a crazy woman."
"I think I will." She smiled even brighter, just to annoy him.
She had had the best birthday ever and it wasn't even over yet. After her spontaneous Birthday Breakfast Celebration, everyone had been lovely to her all day. James had instead on carrying her schoolbag all day, Sirius kept yelling in crowed corridors, "Oi! Get out the way! Birthday Girl coming through!" Remus thankfully hit him so she was no longer dying of embarrassment and Peter accidently spilled water on James' shirt so it went all see through. It was a good day.
"So, O Birthday Girl, what do you want to do?" He looked so hot when he smiled.
"I have no idea! Homework?"
"Are you actually serious?"
"No, I'm Lily."
"Ha bloody ha. You can't do homework on your birthday! It is against the law."
"What law is this exactly?"
"The James-Potter-is-right law. I do have to say it is one of my favourites. " He winked cheekily, causing Lily's heart to beat even faster.
"So what do you suggest we do?"
He paused for a moment, and then smirked, "I have an idea."
He raced off towards the dooms, yelling something about not moving. Lily waited patiently for him to return.
Much to her horror, when he did come back, he had his broom with him. Then she started to panic massively.
"Please tell me that is for sweeping."
He looked deeply offended, "This is a Nimbus One Hundred. One of the best brooms ever made, and it most definitely not for sweeping." He shook his head and her lack of broom knowledge, "Come on, and get on."
She shook her head and back off as if it was a wild beast trying to attack her. "There is no way it Hell that I am-" She was cut off by James grabbing her around her waist and pulling her onto the broom.
She screamed as they rose alarmingly quickly, and buried her face into his back.
Please God, don't let me die. I promise I will be the best person ever if I live. Bloody hell. This is the end; I never got to finish my NEWTS or my Felix Felicis. I can't die this young and ugly.
"Lily. You are not going to die."
"Was that out loud?" she mumbled trying not to scream again.
"Yes it was." He chuckled slightly, "Can you loosen your grip a bit? I can't breathe!
"Sorry." She loosened her grip, but kept her eyes shut and face pressed into his back.
"I didn't know you were so scared of flying. I always thought you were completely fearless." He was finding her fear funny.
"A chink in my Gryffindor armour. Now you realise this, can we return to earth?"
He laughed, "Of course not. You have to learn to enjoy flying first." He then decided flying like a lunatic was the best way to do this. After multiple midair rolls, dives, sharp turns and somersaults, Lily had stopped screaming and slowly got used to the nauseous filling in her stomach. She slowly removed her head from his back and rested her chin on his shoulder. James slowed the broom down as she opened her eyes.
"It is so beautiful." The trees looked mysterious and majestic, the lake looked like glass and the sky looked…just magical. Everything was so tranquil, yet so vibrant; the setting sun caused the sky to be a mix of fire.
"Yeah. It is." His voice was vague, as he also seemed taken by the beauty of the sky.
This is just like Aladdin! A whole new world, a dazzling place I never knew…"
Lily began to sing A Whole New World internally…well she thought it was internally.
James smirked and listened to her singing, captivated by her voice. It was so beautiful, just like her.
This is where I'm meant to be. When she is close, I feel complete. I love her. I love Lily Evans.
"A whole new world, that's where we'll be. A thrilling chase, a wondrous place. For you and me." She sighed happily as she finished singing.
"You have a beautiful voice."
"What? Wait…" Lily was beyond embarrassed, "That was out loud again, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, Lils, it was. How come you never mentioned that you could sing like that?"
"Oh that is so embarrassing. You don't need to be nice, I know I sound like a dying walrus."
"Lily. When are you going to believe what I tell you?" He bit his lip to stop himself saying that he loved her, "You sing beautifully. Now, go and get ready, you have a party to go to. Gryffindor Common Room 6:30."
Lily got off the broom, trying to hid that her legs had turned to jelly due to being so close to James, flying for the first time and accidently singing Aladdin to her crush, "See you later, James."
I cannot believe that has just happened.
"LILY!" Sirius lurched towards her, already drunk, "Happy Birthday, darling! You look smashing!"
"Cheers! Thanks for organizing all this!"
"No problemo! You do look very fit and if you weren't Evans, I would have to snog you."
"Well you look lovely too. But I am glad that I am Evans." She winked and went to get more Butterbeer. She had eventually got over her embarrassment over the Aladdin incident by having three Firewhisky shots, now it seemed less horrendous.
Lily felt good. It may have been the Firewhisky but she felt really awesome. Loads of people had wished her 'Happy Birthday' and told her that she look pretty; even if they were hammered, it still felt nice. She was wearing a short burgundy skater skirt, a black and white stripey crop top with ¾ sleeves and high black heels. She knew this outfit suited her and her black eyeliner made her eyes look extra green and her dark red lips look cute. For the first time in a long time, she knew she looked good and felt so happy that she could happily party all night.
"LILY! Present time!" Mary screamed at her over the music.
Lily threw herself down on some sofas and was handed piles of presents, "Oh! Guys! You didn't have to get me all this!"
She unwrapped the smaller presents from friends and acquaintances, some of whom she didn't really know that well but still hugged and thanked them for their presents. Then she came to her best friends presents, Mary had gotten her a mirror that said things like "Gurl! You look flawless!" and a massive box of her favourite chocolates, and Marlene had gotten her a hairbrush that made her hair curly/straight/wavy by just brushing it and a giant set of nail varnishes that painted nails themselves.
Cautiously she approached the Marauder's presents: Remus had gotten her a gorgeous new quill and a homework diary, which had lilies drawn on each page, Peter had gotten her lots of sweets and some parchment with 'LE' engraved in the corner and from Sirius she had gotten a bottle of Firewhisky, a 'Sex Position of the Day' book, a Gryffindor hoodie with 'The Gryffindor Team is SEXY' on the back and picture of Kieran Nightly.
"Omg, guys! You have spoilt me! I love you all!" She laughed and hugged them all.
"You haven't opened my present yet, Lils." James smiled sexily and handed over his present. Lily stared at the beautifully wrapped and began to slowly pull the paper away, not wanting to spoil its beauty. She gasped. He had gotten her a copy of her favourite book, 'The Fault in Our Stars', with a personal message from the author, a signed copy of Beyoncé new album and a pack of her favourite movies with a label on the front that read 'I solemnly swear to watch these with you, to pass you the tissues and love them as much as you do.' She looked at him, standing there smiling nervously.
"Do you like them?" He motioned towards the presents, "If you don't like them, then I can-"
"I love them. Thank you." She stood up and hugged him tight, "I love them."
He relaxed, "Phew! You're welcome, Lils. Happy Birthday." He kissed her cheek softly.
Lily's brain nearly exploded. She managed to mumble something and downed another shot. Sirius struggled to contain his laughter at his best friend's confusion and Lily's awkwardness.
"I don't want to go to bed!" Lily whined.
"Lily, you are completely trashed, you need to sleep it off." James half supported, half dragged Lily along the corridor.
"I am completely fine." She slurred, "You used to be fun! Come on, let's dance!"
"No. I think we have both danced enough for tonight."
Lily had obviously decided at some point to get completely hammered in celebration of turning 18; as Lily got increasingly drunk, the more she wanted to dance. Not only did she constantly want to dance, she wanted to James. He grinned, thinking about how hot she looked when they were dancing to some Muggle music, it had something to do with being crazy in love or something. She knew all the worlds and some of the dance moves; apparently, all James knew was that she looked fit doing it.
Lily tripped over, due to her heels and intoxicated state.
This is pointless she is going to kill herself. He picked her up and threw her over his shoulder, fireman style. This caused her to giggle massively and thump her little hands against his back.
"Lily! Please stay still or I'll drop you." It is extremely difficult to carry someone, who is extremely drunk, especially if you are a bit drunk also. He almost yelled with joy when he saw the Head's Common Room.
"Right, just a bit further, Lil. Then you will asleep in bed."
"Am I heavy, James?" She giggled
"No, you are as light as a little fairy." He replied truthfully, if she stayed still, she would be extremely easy to carry.
He finally reached her room and gently laid her on her bed, "There. Goodnight, yell if you need me, Birthday Girl."
"Where are you going?" She looked genuinely confused.
"I'm going to my room and try to sleep for a few hours." He replied slowly.
"Why don't you stay here and keep me company? Please?" She smiled sexily.
Bloody hell. Why does the world hate me? Lily Evans is looking at me like that and…Urgh! I can't deal with this shit at 3:30am
"No, Lily. You stay here. Goodnight." He quickly kissed her forehead and ran out of the room.
He changed into his pajamas, a white t-shirt and some sweatpants, and lay on his own bed, thinking about Lily dancing and laughing. She is so hot.
James woke up suddenly, due to someone tripping over something and giggling.
"Lumos. Lily? What the hell are you doing?" he was greeted with the sight of Lily Evans sprawled on his floor in very short tartan pajama bottoms. He smiled as he helped her up, "Why aren't you asleep?"
"I can to see you! DUH!" she tapped her knuckles on his forehead, giggling still, "You are so cute." Then she went and sat on his bed.
"Wha-What are you doing?" He stuttered, trying not to think about the drunk Lily Evans, who was sitting on his bed looking beyond sexy.
"Aw James. You are too cute. I bloody love you." She was slurring, this brought James to his senses. She is drunk. She is drunk. Just get her asleep and this will be over. This is literally torture. Lily tried to put her arms around his neck but just overbalanced and nearly fell off the bed. Thanks to his Quidditch reflexes, he caught her before she smashed her face off the floor.
"Fine. Stay here if you want, but please go to sleep." He lay down again and at once Lily was there sprawled across his chest.
"You are perfect, you know. I really love you."
"Yeah, same here. I'll start planning the wedding. Goodnight, Lils."
She sighed contently and squeezed his hand.
Why did my parents teach me to be a gentleman?
Lily turned bright red as the memoires came flooding back. "Oh, I am so sorry. I don't usually drink and…oh this is so embarrassing."
"No problem. Seriously I have seen much worse. One time Sirius got so pissed, he vomited all over himself and then passed out into a pool it. All of us get drunk and some people just like to tell people they love them." He was smirking now.
"Oh. I forgot I said that." She fiddled with her hair, "Please don't tell anyone about it. I mean, I don't want teased by certain people for the next millennium."
"Sure, no problem. Happy Birthday, Lily."
