(J&L)

Lily dumped her bag on the Library desk with a thud and threw herself dramatically into a seat next to Sirius.

"Hello, Lily! How delightfully cheerful you are this fine day!" Sirius barely looked up from his motorcycle magazine.

"I hate Valentine's Day." She flopped her head against the table, completely depressed.

The boys groaned loudly. "Bloody hell. Is that back again?"

"No shit, Wormatil. It happens every year. Just to torture us…" Remus looked even more tired and pale than normal at the thought of the 'most romantic day of the year'.

"I wondered why Sanderson was dropping hints…I thought it was my new shampoo. Hmm."

"At least you aren't getting harassed by practically every guy in school." Lily groaned, she still had her head on the table.

"Who's harassing you?" Sirius looked like an overprotective brother, "Is it Snape? We'll deal with him easily, Lils."

"Nope. But if one more guy asks me out, I will choke them with the 7 bunches of flowers I have received. I mean, have I got some sort of homing signal or do I just reek of desperation?"

"Nah, you just look like a whore." Lily hit him on the arm, "How many have asked you out?"

"16 and a half."

"A half?"

"One guy started mumbling about Hogsemeade then ran away and apparently was then violently sick."

"Wow. You attract some charmers."

"You know the best part of this horrific ordeal. The one guy who I want to ask me out doesn't appear to want to."

Sirius suddenly burst out laughing, causing Lily to glare at him, "Sorry. It is just hilarious that Prongs stalked/harassed you for 2 years and the one year you fancy the pants off him, he doesn't ask you out. Not only that but you also get harassed by 17 different lads instead. Brilliant."

"Oh yeah, brilliant. I think I'm gonna become a nun."

"Why are you becoming a nun, Lily?" James sat down next to Lily, causing her to jump and blush.

"She is depressed because every guy on the planet is asking her out. Poor hot girl."

James fought to keep his face free of jealousy, "Bloody Valentines."

"Preach it, Prongs."

"Why don't we make a pact?" Remus looked up from his work, the others looked at him inquisitively, "Let's all go into Hogsemeade together, ignore the lovey-dovey couples and be alone together."

Sirius shrugged, "Sounds good, Moony." Peter then nodded enthusiastically.

"Definitely. I can't be arsed with another car crash relationship. Lils?"

She grinned, "I'm in."

(J&L)

Lily scrutinized her appearance in the mirror. She pulled her top slightly so it looked more flattering, checked her jeans countless times for underwear lines, made sure her lipstick wasn't smudged and basically rectified as many imperfection as was humanly possible. She was relatively happy with the result, well as much as a teenage girl could be. She wore a pair of highwaisted black jeans, a deep emerald, V-neck jumper, high black boots and a cute leather jacket. Her hair had cooperated, it was all curly and was swept to one side; her makeup look good too, her eyelashes were had about 15 layers of mascara on and looked big and pretty for once and her lips were a cute peachy pink. Lily liked how she looked.

James stood awkwardly in Great Hall, waiting for Lily. He scuffed his shoes against the floor and glanced nervously at Sirius. "Do you think she's coming?" He asked his best friend anxiously.

Sirius shoved his shoulder gently, "Of course she is, you prat. Why would she turn down a whole afternoon with me?"

James chuckled quietly, shaking his head at Padfoot's attempt at support. He ran his hand through his hair again out of habit. He had tried had to not look like an idiot today, he wanted to impress Lily but not in an obvious date kind of way. James was aiming for 'wow-I-didn't-realise-how-attractive-he-is-and-he-isn't-even-trying-I-must-date-him-now. Hopefully his black t-shirt,, causal jeans and a leather jacket said this. Hopefully being the key word.

He began tapping his foot impatiently, much to the amusement of the other Marauders. They knew how much this non-date meant to him and how he hated waiting, it was amusing watching him get more wound up as they had checked the Map and she was about a minute away.

"If she doesn't come soon, McGonagall is going to crucify us for not being there to make everyone sign out."

"Don't worry, Prongs. She'll be here soon." Remus replied comfortingly.

"I just don't want to get into unnecessary shit for such a dumb reason."

"Mate, I'm sure- Oh hey, Ginger." James turned quickly to see the Head Girl descending the stairs. She looked stunning.

"Hey, boys. Sorry I took so long." She grinned beautifully at James.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. You look- I mean, erm you look great." James struggled to form coherent sentences when Lily's jumper was slightly low-cut.

"Well, you look great too." She blushed slightly and stared at her shoes.

Sirius clapped his hands together, breaking the awkward silence, "Come on then, my fellow singletons. Lets get to Hogsemeade before we drown in a sea of bloody pathetic couples."

(J&L)

Lily couldn't remember a Hogsemeade trip that she had enjoyed as much as this one. The Marauder's seemed dedicated to destroy any pranking innocent she had by spending ages in Zonko's demonstrating practically every item and then discussing the use of them. They seemed horrified when she told them she had only been in there once for a few minutes, but as she pointed she used to hate the Marauders and anything to do with pranks. Also being near Zonko's used to mean James asking her out, sadly this trip did not produce the same result; though he looked exceedingly hot.

After the age in the joke shop, they headed to Honeydukes, in there Lily had the longest conversation she had ever had with Peter, discussing sweets and which was best. She caught James staring at her after she had bent down to look at some chocolate, she winked at him cheekily, causing him to looked highly embarrassed.

Sirius saw this little exchange and nudged Remus, grinning. "See anything you like, Prongs?" Sirius called innocently. James glared and stuck his middle finger up at him.

Lily blushed slightly and went back to deciding which chocolate to get. Do I get the nut chocolate or the caramel? I love the nut one but I bet it will get stuck in my teeth. Complete turnoff. Maybe I should go for the caramel. But what if it makes me feel sick like it did last time? Screw life. How is it possible to look attractive while eating? Lily solved her problem by buying two bars of plain milk chocolate, she needed extra chocolate to reduce her stress levels. The Marauders looked pleasantly surprised at her obvious love of chocolate.

"How do you walk in them shoes?" James asked as they walked along the cobbled Hogsemeade street.

"It's easy really! You just have to take smaller steps and walk heel to toe." Lily tried to sound confident, even though she was terrified of falling over on the cobbles.

"Are they not killing you though? 'Cos they look bloody painful to me." Sirius added, staring at the high heels accusingly.

"No, well at least not yet anyway! Three Broomsticks, guys?"

"Sure!" James held the door of the pub open for her, taking the opportunity to appreciate how good her legs looked in those jeans.

"Try not to stare too much, you might hurt yourself, mate." Remus whispered to James, who shoved his grinning best friend lightly.

As James got the drinks from the bar, the others slide into a booth. The boys took the opportunity to tease her mercilessly about James.

"Is it really obvious? Oh god, I knew this top looked like I was trying to hard." Lily glanced nervously at him, standing there, looking effortlessly hot.

"Well it is when you stare at his arse in a crowed pub! Merlin, girl, control your hormones."

"Sirius! I was not staring!"

"Yeah right."He rolled his eyes, "Don't worry, Ginger. James is an extremely slow leaner so he is never going to catch on. I'm actually beginning to wonder if he's retarded."

"Whose retarded?" James sat down next to Lily, whose heart began beating irregularly.

"You, my dear Prongsie."

"That's rich coming from the guy who thought deodorant and hairspray would so the same job."

"You swore you would never mention that."

"Oops. Sorry, Pads." James did not look sorry at all as he joined in with the other's laughter.

"Well at least I don't have to the same dumb lucky ritual before I play Quidditch." James now looked extremely embarrassed, much to Sirius' amusement.

"You are such a dick."

"You know you love me really."

Lily giggled loudly, "You two are like a proper old married couple." She pinched James cheek, laughing at his disgust, "You are so adorable."

I AM TOUCHING JAMES POTTER"S FACE! WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING? OH MERLIN I CAN FEEL STUBBLE. OH MY GOOD LORD.

Lily quickly withdrew her hand and stared at her Butterbeer, blushing furiously. James' cheek felt oddly cold without her soft little hand pinching his skin gently.

"So, what's the plan for next Saturday?" Sirius asked James.

"What's next Saturday?" The boys looked at her as if they couldn't believe she had asked such a thing."What?"

"Are you being serious?" Lily nodded slowly, "Where in the name of Merlin's underpants have you been for the past month?"

"The match, Lily."" Even the usually calm Remus looked shocked, "The match against Ravenclaw!"

"Oh. Is that it?"

"I can not believe you have just said that. This is one of the most important games of the entire season! If we win this match, we will definitely be in the running for the Cup." James explained passionately.

"Alright, alright! I get the picture! It's dead important."

"It most definitely is. Anyway, I'm thinking we go for the Grovesky formation until we reach 100 points, then switch to Lievenstien. I know Richard's has a strong team, but his Keeper is weak and the Grovesky will allow us to exploit that and the Lievenstien will help us stop their chasers."

"But what if they play Carter instead? He is too strong. I think we should use Klave. Then we will take them by surprise."

"I like Klave, but it leaves our players unprotected. It can be our emergency tactic, like if we go more than 50 behind."

"Do you like we should teach Fran the Job's Drift? Or should we save it for Slytherin?"

"I've already taught her the basics of it, so I was thinking of telling her to use it. She is a fast learner so it will only take her a practice to perfect it, hopefully."

Lily had literally no idea what they were talking about, so she zoned out the tactic talk and thought about how handsome James would look playing Quidditch

(J&L)

"Ow. Ow. Ow." Lily whined pathetically as she stumbled along the cobbles. She wobbled dangerously and nearly fell over. Her shoes were absolutely killing her. It was like they were pythons slowly crushing her feet to death.

James stopped in front of her and bent down slightly, "Come on. I'll carry you."

"No way!" She stumbled back, ignoring the cries of her feet, "You are not carrying me. I would die of embarrassment!"

"You didn't mind on your birthday." He winked at her.

"Yes, but I was completely hammered and it was not in front of everyone. And-" Lily was cut off as James scooped her up into a piggyback.

"What was that you were saying, Lily darling?" He asked cheekily.

"I hate you."

"Your welcome, babe." James carried her all the way up to the castle. As Head Boy and Girl, it was their job to make sure everyone had left Hogsemeade so the path up to the castle was mercifully empty of students by that time.

Lily couldn't help but giggle as she wrapped her arms around James' neck. "This is probably the weirdest things I have ever done."

"It's pretty high up on my list too."

They laughed and joked until James set her down in the Entrance Hall, where they stood in awkward silence, neither knowing what to do.

"Well, I guess I'll see you later, James." Lily smiled uncomfortably and turned to go back to the Dormitory.

James suddenly grabbed her hand, causing her to face him again, "Are you going to come to the match? You know, the one on Saturday? I mean, it's pretty important and it would be great if you came and-"

"I wouldn't miss it for the world." She smiled shyly.

"Great…fantastic…ok…see you later…"

He couldn't help grinning madly as he watched her walk away.
