Chapter Thirty – two:

-Katara-

My head was hurting like crazy when I opened my eyes. Once my eyes adjusted I saw how everyone I cared for was surrounded by Azula. It looked like her two friends had turned on her and she was about ready to attack them all. Immediately I jumped up and attacked her all on my own repeatedly. When she broke free of the ice prison I had incased her in she said, " . ! I've had enough of you! You caused all of this trouble and yet you never give up when you should! This time I'm going to make sure I end you permanently!"

She was about to attack me and I was ready to defend myself until I felt someone push me out of the way. I looked up to see who it was and it turned out to be – Zuko! Azula made some remark to him but I wasn't paying attention. I was focused solely on him and the lightning coming from her finger tips. He's going to get himself killed!

Azula shot the lightning at him and everyone shouted his name. "ZUKO!" He didn't seemed fazed as the lightning came at him for he somehow managed to catch it and send it right back at her, hitting her arm. Then Toph and Aang trapped her in a case of earth and her ex – friend with the braided hair knocked her out by just hitting her in an area near her shoulder blade.

Everyone seemed to be able to breathe easily again. I looked over to Zuko and he was staring right back at me. I was so glad this battle was over. Shakily I began to stand up. Zuko looked like he was about to walk over to me when I heard running footsteps from the other direction.

Turning my head I noticed it to be my brother before he wrapped his arms tightly around my shoulders in a bear hug. "Katara thank goodness you're alright!" he cried for joy.

He was beginning to hold on to me too tight so I had to push on him a little just to get him to let go. "Sokka I'm fine now, stop trying to suffocate me!"

"Sorry Katara I'm just-" he cut himself off as he gawked at me wide eyed. "What did you just call me?"

I raised my eyebrow at him. "Your name…Sokka" I enunciated slowly. "It's always been your name unless you decided to change your name for some unknown reason."

By now everyone was gawking at me. "What?" Suddenly Sokka pressed his fingers gingerly along the back and sides of my head. "Ouch!" I cried out when he pressed against a very sensitive spot. But it was as if that had some kind of unknown power behind it because after that image after image was flashing in my mind at a rapid pace. Everything from baking with my gran – gran when I was four, spending time with my mother and Sokka, reading with my father up to the present came rushing back.

"Katara I know this is going to sound weird," Sokka started, breaking me out of revere, "but I need to put this to the test. What are our parents' names?"

"Kya and Hakoda."

"Where were you born?"

"The Southern Water Tribe."

"What's my favorite weapon?"

"Your boomerang."

"Who are we travelling with?"

"Aang – the – Avatar after we found him in an ice berg when we were trying to catch fish to take back to the village!" Everything just clicked so easily now. "Sokka I remember" I breathed. Then I started jumping up and down despite how much my head still hurt. "I remember!"

Sokka yelled out for joy as he picked me up and spun me around before he set me back down on my feet and kissed my forehead. "Don't ever leave me again ok?"

"I'm not going anywhere I promise." Then I turned to Aang who had just about the widest grin possible. "Aang!" I cried out and ran over to him to give him a big hug. He held onto me tightly and eventually Sokka joined us again to rest his hand on my shoulder. I was smiling the whole time. It felt good to have all of my memories back.

My eyes strayed around to see everyone smiling or grinning at me. That is, except for Zuko. He didn't glower or seem angry or to have any kind of emotion on his face. He just seemed dazed by everything that happened. I watched him as he started walking away even though his Uncle seemed to try to stop him; he just shook him off and continued walking. I really wanted to talk to him, but before I could Aang pulled me aside. "Katara are you alright?"

"I'm fine Aang, thanks." I looked back the way I saw Zuko leave, hoping he wasn't gone for good. Aang noticed. He squeezed my shoulder to get my attention again.

"Go talk to him." From the look in his eyes I knew he understood and that I didn't need to explain anything. He may still be a child in many ways, but it is clear just how grown up he can be. I hugged him again, thanking him silently. Before I left I inclined my head over towards Azula's ex – friends.

"While I'm talking to Zuko maybe you should see if they want to join us. You never know. They may want to and they could be of great help." Aang nodded his head in agreement as he walked in their direction. Once he left I was off to find Zuko.

Iroh spotted me and jerked his thumb in the direction he went. I thanked him quietly and headed down that direction. I found Zuko sitting outside on the railing of a balcony out looking the city as the sun was at the beginning stages of setting. He didn't appear to have heard me come out. Standing behind him I called out softly, "Hey Zuko."

I noticed Zuko stiffen noticeably before he turned slowly so that the scarred side of his face was the first thing I saw and that his shirt had at some point gotten a slight tear that showed some of his shoulder; at least there didn't appear to be any cut or other injury. He cleared his throat before he spoke. "Hi" he said in a rather solemn voice.

Gathering up my courage I walked over to him so now I could finally learn the truth.

I know this chapter was much shorter than most of the others and I know most of you are probably upset with me for cutting it off here. I'm sorry but while I was writing this part it just felt right to end it there. No worries, you will learn Zuko's reaction...but unfortunately you'll have to wait. Don't worry I will still post next Wednesday. So, until next time.
