Chapter 4
A/N: If you guys wondering which karma path Cole and Delsin are on, they're on the good karma path. Cole's a guardian while Delsin is a protector and will mainly use smoke but will draft on to his other powers. Although I will have karmic decisions occur time to time and I'll leave it in your hands to have them choose good or bad. And yes, Velvet is wearing her official battle gear, just using her weapon from my Assassin's Creed crossover.
Ozpin and Glynda were standing at the edge of the cliff as they looked at their Scrolls as the imitation went on. "Prof. Ozpin, our last partner team has been established," she told the headmaster.
"And who might it be then, Ms. Goodwitch?" Ozpin asked not removing his sight from his Scroll.
"Cole Macgrath and Velvet Scarlatina," Glynda replied. "Before them were Delsin Rowe and Lethe Radiance."
Ozpin just let out a chuckle when he heard Glynda say that. "I'm sure Cole's abilities won't fail him, Ms. Goodwitch."
"I"m not so worried about him, sir. I'm worried about what his partner will think about him," Glynda explained.
"I'm sure it'll be fine."
Emerald forest...
Cole kicked the Ursa away before continuing his bolt stream barrage on it. "You feel that don't you?" he taunted it as he electrocuted it. It roared in pain as it tried to advance towards him but to no avail. Cole stopped the lightning and took out his Amp and activated it. He ran towards the Ursa and swung his Amp at it's head. He heard the skull mask of it crack before he brought down his Amp on it's head from above and heard it's neck snap. "One down, two more to go."
He turned around to see the other two circling him. "Two Ursa's and a Conduit. Hardly seems fair... to them." He gripped harder on the Amp and ran towards them. He raised his hand and made a shock grenade in his hand and threw it at them. It stuck on one of them and exploded, making it fly into a tree. He ran towards the other one and dropped to his knees. He slide towards it and swung his Amp at it's head like the first one. He raised the Amp up and caught it's head in between the forks. "Lights out," he said before he started to electrocute it. He kept on doing it until it fell limp and he removed his Amp from it's neck. "That was nothing," he said.
He then noticed that the rabbit Faunus girl was rolled up like a ball beside the tree. "Damn, almost forgot about her." He walked up towards her and knelt down. "Hey, you okay?" he asked her.
She poked her head out and looked at the Conduit in front of her. She nodded slowly as she got out of her ball formation. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for saving me."
Cole smiled and stood up offering her a hand. "Not a problem." She took his hand and he pulled her up. "Name's Cole Macgrath. What's yours?" he asked her.
"I'm Velvet Scarlatina." She reached for her left arm with her hand and grasped it rubbing it sheepishly. "S-so I guess we're partners then," she told him.
"Hey, no trouble, it's fine," Cole replied. He put his Amp back on his bag and sighed. "Now, if we head North, we could get to the temple if we move fast. Think you can do that?" he asked her.
"Yeah, I can do it. Just need to use my Dust at the right time. I could've been able to take an Ursa but there was to many," she replied.
"Then I hope you can help me. I maybe a Conduit but I'm not invincible. Let's get going then," Cole said as he started walking.
"Wait up!" Velvet called out.
With Delsin...
Delsin had a sigh pass through his nose when he got bored of the silence between him and his new partner, Lethe. He wanted something exciting to happen, something he can use his powers on. "So you're a Conduit?" Lethe broke the silence.
Delsin snapped out of his thoughts and faced her. "Hm?"
"I said, are you a Conduit?" Lethe asked him again with slight irritation in her voice.
"Well, yeah of course, didn't you see me doing my awesome smoke powers back there?" he asked her.
"Don't you mean when you shot down the tree I was on?"
"Hey, that was an accident and I didn't mean to do that," Delsin retorted. Girls and their short attention spans. I'll never get them.
"I hear that a Conduit gets their powers after a huge explosion of energy," Lethe told him.
Delsin shook his head. "Nah, I didn't get mine like that. Well my friend Cole did. I got mine after some Conduit tried to shoot my brother, Reggie, with his smoke. I grabbed his hand and I sorta got it. Dunno how but it's pretty freakin' sweet!" he replied.
"Whatever," Lethe answered back. They kept on walking until Lethe stopped in her tracks with her cat ears twitching. "Stop," she told Delsin.
"What? What's going on?" Delsin asked her. His question was answered when a Beowolf lunged on him and pinned him on the ground. "Damn it!" It then bit him on the arm making him shout in pain. "I could use a little help here!"
Lethe was on the Beowolf instantly. She flicked her gauntlets out and three razor sharp blades came out on both. She pounced for the Beowolf and sank her claws into it's skull and kept on digging deeper and deeper into it. It fell limp on Delsin and she stepped off the carcass. "You okay?" she asked him.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, totally great," Delsin replied with mock in his tone.
"Whatever, let's keep moving to the temple. We can get there in about half an hour if we jog it," Lethe explained to him.
Delsin put on a pout face that he would've given Reggie most of the time, if Reggie was here. "Aw c'mon, can't we just walk it or something instead of rushing this? Can't we enjoy this forest?" he proposed to her.
"I'd rather not. I don't want to kept killing Grimm all day," Lethe answered back.
"Okay, not judging you," Delsin said to her.
Cole...
Cole and Velvet made it to a small clearing after a good quick march. In the clearing was a ruins of a temple that Cole knew to well. "Hey, we're here now, Velvet," Cole told his partner.
Velvet quickly got beside him and let out a sigh of relief. She threw her arms in the air with a tired smile on her face. "Good. I'm glad that I didn't have to use that much Dust on the way here."
The two walked up to the ruins and saw that there were small pedestals with white and black chess pieces on top of them. "Huh, Ozpin never seems to go for the normal stuff when it comes to initiation," Cole said as he looked at the numerous chess pieces on top.
"Does he alway do this? Chess pieces?" Velvet asked him.
Cole shook his head. "Nah, you should've saw the relics he used last year before we came," Cole replied as he grabbed a Black Rook piece. He hefted it a couple times before placing it into his bag.
"And what would that be then?" Velvet asked meekly.
"Blast Shards," the Conduit answered back.
Before the rabbit Faunus could reply there was footsteps behind them. She drew her Dust wand and pointed it behind her. "Freeze!" she shouted.
"Whoa, watch where you're pointing that," said a familiar voice.
Cole turned around to see Delsin and Lethe beside him. "Hey, Delsin, glad you could make it, man," he said to the smoke Conduit.
Velvet lowered her Dust wand and blushed a light red in embarrassment. "Sorry, I thought you were a Grimm," she said to Delsin.
"Don't sweat it... um... Cole, who's this?" Delsin asked.
"Oh, this is Velvet Scarlatina. She's my partner. Is that girl beside your partner?' Cole asked Delsin after answering the question.
"Yeah, man. This here is Lethe Radiance," Delsin said to him.
Lethe just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "If we can get introductions out of the way, can we go get a relic?" she asked.
Delsin shrugged and walked up to a pedestal with a Black Rook piece on top. "Yo, Cole, I thought we're gonna see some real action, not the little guys here?"
"Every initiation here at Beacon differs remember, Del?" Cole replied.
Delsin put the chess piece into his pocket and crossed his fingers together. "Like c'mon, I wanted to do something epic to happen. Like we... we hit the town. We take out a bunch of Grimm during initiation, maybe ride on a Nevermore and jump off it, always wanted to do that, and we're back at the cliffs," Delsin explained.
Cole shook his head at his smokey friend. "You do realize that when we hit the town... that the town may... you know... hit back... hard... really hard," Cole told his friend.
"Can you stop putting up to this bull-" A loud screeching noise sounded hurting their ears, ostly the two female Faunus with them. The four looked up to see a Nevermore cirling around them overhead. "-shit," Delsin finished his word.
"See what I mean?' Cole replied.
"Should we run?" Velvet asked her partner.
"Yeah, I'm with her. We should run from that," Lethe proposed.
"C'mon, where's the fun in running? There's no stopping this bad boy," Delsin said as smoke started coming out of his hands.
"Maybe we should think of a plan before attacking,' Cole said as he started running.
"You're no fun when you do that, Cole, you're to much like your mom," Delsin replied.
I know, another short chapter. Hey, it's better then nothing, right?
