"The Broken Sky"
Luka was in thought about what he saw he believed he lost his mind "Excuse me, sir, may I have my glasses back?" Cereza asked Luka.
"Huh? Oh... Yeah... Here you go." Luka said.
He handed her back her glasses "Cereza, how did you get such... Magical glasses?" Luka asked.
"The glasses aren't magic, silly. I can see the monsters without them!" Cereza said.
"Monsters... Not quite." Luka said.
"So, uh, has Bayonetta. I mean your mom, been fighting these big bad monsters for a long time?" Luka asked.
"Mummy is a witch, and witches protect people and are very strong." Cereza said.
"When I grow up, I'll be strong too and I'll protect my mummy!" Cereza said, while posing as Bayonetta.
"Wait... You think witches do what!?" Luka asked.
"Aww, forget it. No point in arguing with a little kid. I'll manage on my own." Luka said.
"I'm sure you will." Bayonetta said.
She startled him causing him to fall back hitting his head. "Mummy!" Cereza said.
"You never cease to amuse me, Cheshire." Bayonetta said.
"It's always funny." Phantom said.
Phantom sat down on a box "I suppose that's your next target?" Bayonetta asked.
Luka didn't say anything "This is yours, little one. You didn't cry while I was gone, did you?" Bayonetta asked.
"Nope." Cereza said.
"Good." Bayonetta said.
"Bayonetta… No matter how I ask, no matter how many times, you always say the same thing." Luka said.
"Come now, kitty. You know it was all ju…." she didn't finish as Luka cut her off.
"-a misunderstanding." Luka said.
"You're so stubborn, you know that!?" Luka asked.
"And you can be a jerk half the time." Phantom said.
"My father… He was a journalist, too. In fact, he was twice the man I could ever hope to be. He was obsessed with one case his entire career. Luka said.
"A case so bizarre it took over his life. They could have made a movie of the details: The followers of darkness, the Umbra Witches, and their light world counterparts, the Lumen Sages. Controlling everything with a power known as "The Eyes of the World." Then, the light and dark clans suddenly disappeared from their medieval home in Europe." Luka said.
"You may be familiar with the town. You're standing in it." Luka said.
"Welcome to Vigrid, 500 years later." Luka said.
"500 years." Bayonetta said.
"Each clan, working at the behest of the powers that be, sought to lead their fractured world towards peace. They both possessed an "Eye," said to have the power to create history, that they used to oversee the world. However, their spirit of cooperation did not last, for amongst them, a pair of young star-crossed lovers conceived a child that sent the clans on a path to ruin. The woman was thrown in jail, and the man was exiled from his clan. However the child remained with the Umbra, raised as a black sheep, even amongst the darkness. Since the balance between light and dark had been lost, both clans spiraled into decay. Legend had it that the two "Eyes" could be united to control reality itself, and this legend fueled ambition and desire, leading to a myriad of battles between the clans. In fact, it led to their mutual destruction." Luka explain the past to Bayonetta.
"My father was mocked for buying such a fairy tale; however, I believe his story. And I believe it more than ever now that I've found you." Luka said.
Phantom wasn't listening and under his eyes a shed of tears was there. "The memory of the clan lingers on, despite the passing of 500 years." Luka said.
"What on earth was my father searching for? And why did he have to die for it?" Luka asked.
"I have to discover the truth with my own eyes." Luka said.
"That's why I haven't give up my chase for it. Or you." Luka said.
"The head of the Ithavoll Group, the multi-national that dominates Vigrid, recently tried to see an enormous gem stone on the black market. If he isn't selling out in the open, it means we're going to have to acquire it by other means." Luka said.
"And that starts by sneaking on to that jet." Luka said.
He leaves the girls and boy alone Cereza was mimicking Bayonetta's poses "Mummy, are you looking for something?" Cereza asked.
"I am." Bayonetta said.
"How did you lose it?" Cereza asked.
"Little one, do you have anything you really like? Something really important to you?" Cereza asked.
Cereza pulled something out "Yes! This! I love it." she said.
Bayonetta took a closer look at it. It looked like a watch she flashback to when a woman gave a child the same kind of watch. "Where did you get this?" she asked.
"You guy it to me, mummy. For my birthday!" Cereza said.
"When you love something, never lose it." Bayonetta said. She removed one of her ribbons from her hair "Understand, little one? You must keep it safe, close to your heart." Bayonetta said.
Cereza began playing with the watch. Bayonetta noticed Phantom upset and she went over to him. "Phantom, are you alright?" she asked.
"Not really." Phantom said.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"It's about my family. Years ago my mummy and daddy were never really happy together when I was born. I've never felt so happy. I eventually learned about the Umbra Witches. My father abused me for believing such a story. My mother defended me and he killed her. I was forced to become a criminal and soon I ended being hunted down by the Organization of United Heroes. And I've changed my face and looks so I couldn't be tracked." Phantom explained his backstory.
"This isn't what you look like really?" Bayonetta asked.
Soon out of nowhere the ground exploded and Luka saved Cereza but she slipped into the jet. Bayonetta and Phantom followed her.
They moved through the jet and angels were everywhere they reached outside and heard a familiar voice "Back to your old self, are we?" Jeanne asked.
"Why so glum? Something troubling you?" Jeanne asked.
"Only your constant fretting over my state of affairs. I've not time to play games with you." Bayonetta said.
"No need to take your stress on me, Bayonetta. It's clear you're worried for the girl." Jeanne taunted.
The two fought, Phantom was enraged to fight Jeanne this time thinking she did something to the girl. The two witches had a standoff. "Tell me where she is. Now." Bayonetta demanded. "My, aren't we attached to our precious little one? Do you like it when she calls you "Mummy"? Jeanne asked.
"You're absolutely delusional. If I leave her, he'll never shut up about it. And his whining is twice as irritating as anything the child could muster." Bayonetta said.
Jeanne laughed "You've quite the tongue when it comes to curling round the truth." Jeanne taunted.
"And what about you? What are you hiding?"
"Does that mean something to you?" Phantom asked.
They handed her the little statue and Jeanne gasped "I've no need for worthless junk." Jeanne said.
All three aimed their guns at something. Phantom was the only one who didn't aim at anyone likely he figured he wasn't being targeted. "Why must you needlessly stumble and stall?" an angel asked.
Have you forgotten the task with which you have been charged? Make haste, for the era of the Creator approaches." the angel said.
"I am well aware of my task! But you have forgotten that I do not need your help!" Jeanne said.
She stomped on the angel and the angel fired onto the jet "It seems your little friend is gone forever." Jeanne taunted.
Cloud covered them Bayonetta dodged Jeanne's bullet she jumped and used the water in the air creating an ice spear and threw it at Jeanne but the witch in red dodged it Bayonetta charged at her "Fill them! Fill your eyes with your violent fate! Accept it and earn the Left Eye! Prove you deserve it!" Jeanne dared her.
Bayonetta almost felt tempted "Fear not my child, for no harm will come to you." the voice said.
The two witches battled and Bayonetta defeated Jeanne. The jet crashed into the waters Bayonetta and Phantom found Cereza and escaped.
