Lyra Misak, eldest of the Misak family, daughter of Mizu and Reau Misak, older sister of Hahn, was definitely a girl and no, there was no way a girl could carry the spirit of the great General Al Afftic. Lyra wasn't a waterbender —at least not publicly— anyway, her Tribe traditions forbade her from attempting waterbending.

In a world where Toph and Zuko were betrothed as children, she joins him on his Avatar-hunting quest.

The story starts the way you remember. A banished Fire Nation prince sails toward the South Pole. Two Water Tribe siblings find a strange boy unconscious among the ice floes. But when these four meet, something happens that shakes them to their core: Zuko airbends. A reimagining of A:TLA book 1 with Zuko as the Avatar. The romance is a very slowburn side plot and not the focus.

Katara has a secret that even surprises her and Zuko is just as shocked by everything that is unraveling.
