The Doctor glanced around at Rose and Miss Jones, confused. There were very few people left in the building as he was sure that not many other students would hide in the toilets just to sneak around school in the dark. It had to be a teacher but how would they know that they were in there. Surely they hadn't seen the crack of light from underneath the door.
Being careful not to knock anything over, the Doctor got to his feet and awkwardly crept towards the door, finding the task of avoiding the beanbags scattered across the floor extremely difficult. One false step and the people outside would know for sure that there were inhabitants within the cupboard.
Reaching the door, the Doctor sighed in relief that he had managed to cross the cupboard whilst making very little sound. He crouched down, attempting to look through the keyhole of the cupboard - anything to get a glimpse of whoever was outside his cupboard. Much to his disappointment, the keyhole seemed to be blocked. It seemed as if students would do anything to get rid of chewing gum.
The Doctor reached for the handle. He hoped to be able to pull the door open a crack and take a look at the people outside without alerting their attention.
"Don't open it!" Miss Jones suddenly hissed, making the Doctor jump and hit his hand against the door handle.
The Doctor muttered in annoyance as a quick, sharp pain passed through his hand. "Why not?" He shot at Miss Jones, slightly irritated with her for causing him to injure his hand.
"I can't tell you that," Miss Jones admitted slowly, knowing that he wasn't going to take that answer very well, or even at all.
"What do you want us to do then?" The Doctor asked, looking around at the fairly empty cupboard. Although he did like the cupboard, he quite liked to be able to choose when he wanted to leave it. Being held in it under siege, made him begin to hate the small, yet admittedly cosy, area. "Sit here and twiddle our thumbs, just hoping they will leave?"
"They may not even know we're here," Rose whispered, glancing towards the door. "So, if you shut up, they may just leave!"
"We don't even know who they are!" The Doctor pointed out in frustration. He hated not knowing things and this was really getting to him. Ignoring Miss Jones' hissed orders, the Doctor jumped to his feet and pushed the handle down. He groaned when the door didn't open and rounded on Miss Jones and Rose. "It's locked!" He turned back to the door with a frown. "How's that even possible? I didn't lock it!"
"I didn't!" Miss Jones exclaimed after both Rose and the Doctor had turned to look in her direction.
"Maybe whoever is outside locked us in," Rose suggested but the Doctor shook his head.
"There's something jammed in the lock – no one could have locked it," he explained. This time, it was Miss Jones' time to shake her head.
She stood up and reached inside her bag. "They could have," She muttered as she digged around inside the bag that the Doctor had previously assumed held her laptop in.
"Who could have?" The Doctor questioned, stepping forwards to try and get a better look inside her bag.
"The supply teachers," she answered, pulling an object out of her bag.
"What's that?" Rose asked, copying the Doctor and stepping forwards, though she was trying to get a better look at the object, just as the Doctor was trying to do now.
"It's something MI6 have been working on for some years now. Only a couple of months ago, we managed to get the prototype working but a spy within MI6 leaked the plans to the organisation those supply teachers are from," Miss Jones explained, fiddling with some of the buttons on the devise.
"A supply teachers organisation?" Rose asked in disbelief.
"They're not really supply teachers. They're from an organisation content on-" Miss Jones cut off her sentence quickly when she remembered where she was. "It doesn't matter. Anyway, this device, well, it can open and lock doors. It doesn't matter if the keyhole is jammed. You just point, press and there you have it." While she had been speaking, she had pointed the device towards the door, pressed the button, causing the room to fill with blue light and a strange whistling sound, and then let go of the button, getting rid of the light and sound.
The Doctor reached for the door handle once again and, this time, Miss Jones didn't try to stop him. He pushed down on the door handle and, much to his and Rose's amazement, the door swung towards him ever so slightly.
"That's so cool!" Rose exclaimed, staring at the door with wide eyes.
The Doctor glanced at the device that Miss Jones held. "I want one!" He stated, agreeing with Rose. It was cool and it would come in handy too!
"Sorry. MI6 agents only," Miss Jones apologised. "Oh, and the organisation who stole the plans from us. By the way, if anyone asks, you haven't seen it." She tucked the device back into her bag. "Now, move aside. Let me go first."
Rose stepped back, allowing Miss Jones to pass her but the Doctor stayed on the same spot, determined not to move to let her past. If the supply teachers were out there, he wanted to talk to them. Besides, it was him they had been making uncomfortable all day, not Miss Jones, so he thought he deserved answers to why.
"Come on, John, let me past! Let me go first!" Miss Jones repeated again.
This time, the Doctor did move, but not to let her past. Instead, he turned back towards the door and pulled it open completely. There he found himself standing face to face with five of the supply teachers who looked to be holding chemicals from the nearby Science labs.
Miss Jones pushed past the Doctor and he was more than happy to allow her to do this. He didn't fancy being splashed by unknown chemicals.
"One MI6 agent sent in to protect such a child," Mr Green, who stood at the front of the group spoke. He seemed to be talking to the other four supply teachers, rather than Miss Jones. "You would have fought they'd send more." Now, he turned to face Miss Jones. "Even so, you're still here to protect him but give him to us and there will be no need to start yet another war."
