This section of Veggie Land was supposed to be inspired by Camp Snoopy from Knott's Berry Farm, Worlds of Fun, Carowinds, and other parks owned by Cedar Fair. But after writing more than halfway through, it feels more inspired by Disney World's Animal Kingdom. Because of the camping and wilderness themes.

And the Disney attraction featured in this land happens to be a ride that just got shut down earlier this year in 2023. Closed due to the film it's based on.

Chapter 8: Camping Cucumbers

After leaving the corn maze, Gil and Molly explore more of the theme park.

"Where to now?" Molly asks Gil.

"Not sure really. Where have we not gone yet?"

Gil got his answer as the duo stopped at a sign in front of them. They ask in unison…

"Cucumber Camp?"

The said location resembles a campground with the architecture inspired by the wilderness. A forest of trees surrounding the pavement. Several small cabins in the area.

A mini waterfall with a boat rocking back and forth on the top. The boat has anthropomorphic cucumbers, one large and three small. All dressed in camping clothes and hats.

A small lake is also in the section. Boats are passing by in the water, rowed by cucumbers. Actually Goby and the Little Fish, they're dressed up as the vegetable with camping gear.

"Come on, row! Row!" Goby exclaims, making the Little Fish row faster on the boat. He was facing forward while the Little Fish were facing backwards. "Look around, do you think we can actually drink this water?!"

Goby faced the other direction with his arms wide open to showcase the said water surrounding them. Bad idea because-

CRASH

The boat crashes into a rock!

"Uh oh!" The Little Fish say in unison.

Goby facepalms as he realizes his mistake. "Oh great."

And now the cucumbers have sunk. Well, now they're swimming. Gil and Molly saw the whole thing.

Gil rubs his chin, "Huh, I didn't expect them to go straight into the rock."

Molly taps Gil's shoulder, "Gilly, look at that!"

The blue-haired guppy turns around and sees a very large attraction. It resembles a large mountain with many trees and gravel but with a big waterfall. Coming from the top of the waterfall, a log is going down! In that log…

"Hey look, it's our friends!"

Yes, Gil is correct.

Deema, Oona, Zooli, and Nonny are going down the waterfall.

"Whee!"

"Woo-hoo!"

"Yeahhh!"

The three girls are laughing while Nonny is about to throw up like on the Spinning Ladles.

SPLASH

The log makes it down and Nonny pukes on a barf bag.

"Phew. Glad we got you that bag, Nonny." Deema comments.

"Oh man! That looks like fun!"

"Well, come on, Gilly. Let's go."

Gil and Molly head towards the attraction's entrance.

Hopping into the next log, the ride starts going up and inside the mountain.

Passing through, the two guppies see a bunch of cucumbers experiencing the wilderness. To be specific, shrimp in cucumber costumes.

The cucumbers are setting up tents and birdwatching. A couple more of them are fishing at a small lake (actually an inflatable kiddie pool).

The captain of this camp is making a campfire. Using the easy way, he grabs a bottle of lighter fluid and pours some into the wood he gathered. That was a mistake.

FLAME

"Oh, hot! Hot! HOT!"

His camping hat gets on fire and he begins to panic and run in circles! No other way, he jumps into the log's water way!

SPLASH

Molly gasps because he was supposed to be an animatronic.

"Hold on a minute," Gil says, "how was that animatronic able to-"

"AHHH!" Gil and Molly scream out loud as the log goes down and out of the mountain!

The camp captain sighs in relief as his hat is no longer in flames but-

"AHHH!" He's now going down, following the two kids.

SPLASH

Both Bubble Guppies spit water out and wipe the liquid out of their faces.

"Why me?" The camp captain asks as he's wet and dizzy, his body floating behind Gil and Molly's log.

The two kids are waiting on a bench, ready to witness the parade.

Sergeant Pickle (or in this case, Cucumber) is leading numerous cucumber campers in the parade.

"Hut! 2! 3! 4! Hut! 2! 3! 4!" The sarge marches on. He's holding a balloon of a giant cucumber, with Goby and the Little Fish.

Nonny is leading a marching band of shrimp and ducks. Using his gestures to make sure the instruments play the right tunes.

And lastly, a float is driving behind the band. Camping tents, a campfire, small trees, and a bear made out of wood on the float. With shrimp waving to the (two) guests.

Of course, they're all dressed as cucumbers with camping gear.

"What do you think of this, Gil?" Molly asks her friend.

POP

Tree branches popped holes on the balloon, sending Sgt. Pickle/Cucumber, Goby, and the Little Fish flying away!

"WHOA, NELLLLY!" The sergeant shouts out, still holding onto the balloon's rope!

Goby and the Fish also hang onto its ropes, screaming because of the unexpected ride into the sky!

The marching band of Nonny, the shrimp, and the ducks stop and see them flying away. Big mistake, the float behind drives all over them! Leaving everyone as flat as pancakes!

"Ouch!"

"Oh, the pain!

"I can't feel my legs!"

"Quack! Quack!"

The ones on the float didn't pay attention before seeing where they were driving. They're still not paying attention because they were apologizing to the band that-

SPLASH

Their float falls into the lake… with everyone on board.

"This was disappointing." Gil comments.

"Maybe the bird show will be better." Molly assured him.

Gil and Molly are now in an area with a stage. No specific background this time.

Oona, Deema, and Zooli (of course, in cucumber costumes) make it on stage and present birds standing on their arms.

"Hello." Oona greets. "Welcome to the Birds' Spectacular Show."

Zooli gets out some bird seed to feed them. Which ultimately…

"SQUAWK!"

"CHEEP CHEEP!"

"CUCKOO!"

The birds get crazy trying to get the seeds. Pecking the three kids on their noggins and running all over the place.

"AH! Get these crazy birds out of here!" Deema screams.

"Ow! Shoo! Shoo!" Oona tries to get the feathered animals away.

"Why?!" Zooli asks as the birds continue to peck them.

Gil and Molly just look at them, bland expressions on their faces.

"I'm leaving." Gil does as he says.

"Gilly, wait!" Molly gets up but turns back to her friends and the birds. "Are you girls fine here?"

Deema trips but raises her head to Molly and smiles. "I think we're good, thanks." The bird now pulls her hair. "Ouch!"

"Okay, then…" Molly slowly swims off, catching up to Gil.

"I think this is my least favorite area." Gil declares. "The shows were terrible and the ride wasn't really boring but it could've been better. And I still wonder how that animatronic got out of its spot."

"Never mind that, Gil. We still have more of Veggie Land to look forward to."

"Yeah, you're right. Besides, it's gotta get dark soon." Gil looks at the sun, almost reaching the bottom of the sky. "Let's go see what else is in store."

And that's their cue to leave Cucumber Camp.

Yes, the waterfall ride is based on Disney's Splash Mountain ride. Have I rode on the attraction? No, I have not. But I have seen several videos ever since I heard it was gotta close for good.

And about time a parade occurred in this story. Parades are very important at amusement parks.

I also know Zooli is an expert on animals but not everything can go perfect, right? That's why the bird show was a fail for the girls.

Sergeant Pickle is from the "Fruit Camp" episode. Makes sense to add him in this camp-inspired chapter, especially revolving around cucumbers. Besides the Cedar Fair theme parks (that have the Peanuts attractions).

Speaking of Peanuts, I want to write more of Field Trip to Wiznee Land, my other fanfic that has the Peanuts going to another made-up amusement park. I've been having more fun with Veggie Land but soon, I'll write more for my Peanuts story.

The next land is based on a very recent area at Universal Studios Japan and Hollywood.
