Luku Neljä
Katsumi stood on a hill, overlooking the battle between Sasuke and Naruto. She had been put out of commission with a broken arm and three broken ribs, one of which she was sure had punctured her lung. It would explain why she was having trouble breathing at the moment. Despite this, she kept her attention on the fight.
Naruto and Sasuke stood across from each other. They were talking but she couldn't hear what they were saying. Sasuke had his ever blank face on while Naruto's was slowly changing to red the more worked up he got. Finally, he held his hand out to his side as a blue ball of chakra began to form. Sasuke allowed a dark smirk to grace his pale face as he, too, held out a hand. The sound of chirping birds filled the air as a ball of lightning engulfed his hand.
"Rasengan!"
"Chidori!"
They ran at each other, one with a determined look and the other with a cold smirk on his face. Katsumi could only watch in horror as they bore down on each other. A cloud of dust rose and she waited almost half a minute with anxiety eating at her heart for the dust to clear. When it did, her heart stopped. Sasuke was the only standing, looking down at her twin's still body, a hole where his heart used to be.
"No!"
Katsumi jolted up in bed, the scream echoing around the room. Her blonde hair was in a tangled mess on her head and she felt drenched in sweat. Her heart flew into her throat when the door to her room burst open and Minato came in with a kunai. He looked around the room before his eyes finally landed on her.
"What happened?" He asked gruffly.
"Nothing, nii-san."
"People don't usually scream for nothing, imouto."
"It was just…just a nightmare. You can go back to bed."
"Are you sure? You don't want to talk about it?" He asked with a frown on his face.
'Even if I wanted to, I couldn't.' Katsumi thought to herself. "No. I'm just going to take a shower and try to get back to bed."
"If you're sure…"
"I'm sure."
"Well…alright…Good night."
"Night, nii-san."
Katsumi was thankful when he finally left because it was hard to hold in her tears. That dream had shaken her to the car, it was one of the many things that could have happened during the fight between Naruto and Sasuke. Just thinking about Naruto not being here…
She shook her head as she sluggishly got out of bed to go to take a shower. A nice, hot shower…
She lay awake an hour later in bed, unable to fall asleep. The images of Naruto, her twin brother, dead would not leave her. They kept running round and round in her head like a broken record, complete with evil laughter in the background. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. Throwing back the covers, she crept out of bed as silently as she could and made a cross with the first two fingers of her hands.
"Shadow Clone Technique!" She whispered and, without a sound, an exact replica of herself appeared.
"Just pretend to be sleep. If I'm not back by morning, just find a way to dispel and I'll come back."
She watched as the clone nodded and climbed into bed with an over exaggerated yawn. She shook her head with an eye roll before she was gone, just like that.
The hospital room was as silent as a graveyard when she arrived. Not even the sound of breathing from her two sleeping teammates pierced through the silence. It was a little disturbing and only served to add to the effects of the remnants of the dream that would not leave her. She found herself glaring at Sasuke with enough heat to outdo the sun; it was all his fault. This whole mess was the fault of the bastard who couldn't stop acting like some character in a tragic place. Yes, losing your whole family in one night was devastating. Yes, having your own flesh and blood be responsible was traumatizing. But, instead of taking that hurt and doing something positive with it…he chose to let it grow and fester within himself. It then, like a disease, spread to affect others…such as her and her brother. She wouldn't ever tell Naruto to this…but she had thought many times of the chances to just simply kill the Uchiha that had passed them by. That would have saved them so much trouble and they wouldn't have wasted three...whole…years…chasing after a boy who didn't want to be saved. He wanted to be…pitiful and act like the world revolved around him…like the world cared that he had been dealt a bad card in life. Well, guess what? So had Naruto and he had more reason to hate the village than Sasuke did. It just went to show how, no matter how strong Sasuke thought he was…he was still that weak little seven year old from so long ago.
Katsumi shook her head and wiped the angry tears that had made their way down her cheeks. Seriously, all of this over thinking and analyzing was seriously beginning to give her one hell of a headache. So, hiding a yawn behind her hand, she dragged the cushiony chair over to Naruto's bedside and plopped herself down in it. She lay her head on the edge of the bed and reached out a hand to grasp at Naruto's. She smiled slightly when his warm hand tightened around hers as a sense of peace came about her. Before she even realized, she had drifted into sleep; a peaceful one.
She woke up with a jerk when she felt a sharp spike in chakra from the direction of her new home. In her drowsy state, it took her longer than it should have to think of why Minato would do that.
Then it came back to her.
"Kat-chan…What 'as…." Naruto yawned so widely in the middle of his sentence that tears came from his eyes.
"That was Nii-chan. I think he found my clone." Katsumi said with a sheepish smile.
"Your clone? Why would you leave a clone?" Sasuke asked with a raised brow.
"Because I just did." She answered shortly.
"Really?" He asked skeptically.
"It's none of your business as to why I did it."
"Aw, come on, Kat-chan. Ease up on, Sasuke-teme."
Katsumi threw him a look that just screamed, 'In your dreams."
"Seriously, Katsumi. I don't get why you keep giving him the cold shoulder."
"Really, Naruto? Are you really asking me that?"
"Yes!"
"Why should I be so happy to so that bastard that we wasted three years, three years Naruto, of our life chasing someone who so obviously didn't want to be saved! You think I'd welcome some traitor back who put a whole through my brother's chest, has tried to kill me and Sensei numerous times, wanted to freakin' destroy Konoha, and was basically just being a little bitch about everything-"
"My whole family-" Sasuke started to snarl.
"Yes, yes! Your whole family was killed, Sasuke! You were only bitching about it for three years." She turned back to Naruto but he managed to talk over her.
"That was uncalled for, Katsumi-chan. Now you're just being a…a…frigid bitch!"
There was a shocked silence. Even Sasuke's mouth had dropped open a little bit as he glanced back and forth between the twins. In all his years of knowing them, this was the worst fight he had seen so far.
Katsumi was giving her older brother a blank stare.
"If that's how you feel." She sniffed before turning sharply on her heel.
"Katsumi-"
The door burst open with a bang to show Minato with an annoyed look on his face.
"Katsumi-chan, you-! What's going on?"
"Nothing, nii-san. I was just leaving.
"Katsumi-"
"Not now, nii-san. Let's just go."
The three of them watched her walk out without another word. Minato cleared his throat as he turned to look at the two boys.
"Naruto, the nurses have informed me that you're ready to leave." He pulled a small piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to the blond. "Here's my address." He pulled out another piece of paper and handed it to Sasuke. "You are also free to leave and here is the Uchiha's address. Well, see ya."
With that cheerful goodbye, he was gone.
"Idiot?"
"Bastard?"
"You're screwed."
"….Shut up."
Hope it was an interesting chapter! I thought it was, what with Kat and Naruto having their worst. fight. EVAR!
