If a person loses possession of a Death Note, they will not recognize the Gods of Death by sight or voice any more. If, however, the owner lets someone else touch the Death Note in their possession, that person will be able to recognize the God of Death.
In accordance with the above, the human who touched the Death Note and began to recognize the God of Death sight and voice, will continue to recognize it until that human actually owns the Death Note and subsequently loses possession of it.
January 29th, 2004 (At the café by the Police Station)
Kagome sipped her coffee as she hummed as the hot liquid touched her tongue, she sighed as she peered over her cup at L, who was eating his strawberry filled cupcake. She rolled her eyes then closed them to savor the sweet taste of her coffee that made her tongue numb.
L stopped eating his cupcake for a moment to watch as Kagome's blue eyes disappeared underneath her lightly eye shadowed eyelids. Her dark and sooty lashes rested against her rosy cheeks as she breathed a sigh of relief as she sat her coffee down on the table. Her eyes remained closed for a few more moments before they opened and turned to look out at the rainy streets.
L returned to eating his cupcake, but was more self-conscious of how fast he was eating it. Kagome turned her attention back to him, placing her hand in her cheek as she watched him curiously.
"Ryuzaki? How come you're not eating as fast as you used too? And how come you're not sitting like you usually do?" Kagome asked, blinking her eyes. Ryuzaki swallowed his food and wiped his mouth off with a napkin.
"I'm not really needing to use that 43% more of my intelligence to eat, Kagome; besides I wouldn't want to cause unnecessary attention onto you and myself." He explained quickly. Kagome let a sly smile cross her face as she glanced around before leaning over the small table, getting very close to L.
"I don't mind the attention, Ryuzaki. But you're obviously not used to such a display of affection or attention onto yourself; am I right?" She grinned playfully before sitting back down in her seat, picking up her coffee and sipping it again.
L sighed as he shook his head, cracking a small smile before looking at the pattern in the table tops.
Kagome needed something fun to do to get her mind off of her brother's predicament, but what…? A movie? That might cheer her up, a walk in the park? That could work too. Maybe grab something to eat later and go to the mall… You know- girly things. Those should surely cheer her up, right?
"Kagome?" L said, she glanced up and nodded, showing him he head her attention. "Is there any good movies out?"
Kagome blinked in surprise as she stared at the slightly older man in front of her.
"M-movies…? Well, there's a few that look pretty good… Why?"
"Would you enjoy seeing a movie with me?"
Kagome's heart thrummed in her chest as a blush stained her cheeks; she laughed slightly and waved her hands.
"I-I would love to, Ryuzaki-kun."
"Perfect, I'll pay." He stood up and she realized that he had finished his coffee and cake; she stood up and went after him with her own coffee still half way full.
"Which way to the nearest theaters, Kagome?" L asked, Kagome pointed down the street and grabbed L's hand to lead him. L blinked owlishly and blushed from the contact as he looked at the woman in front of him leading him down the sidewalks; he had no idea that her face was as red as his.
Kagome laughed and her cheeks were flushed as L laughed along with her, their hands joined together tightly as they walked in an almost abandoned park, the trees were dead and only a few children where on the play grounds, yet it was still peaceful and serene.
Hot chocolates were held tightly in their hands that weren't holding the others.
"I-I can't believe he did that…" Kagome burst out into a new fit of giggles and L joined in with her with his own set of chuckles.
"Yes, it really was funny." He admitted and took a sip from his hot chocolate. Kagome finished her spasm of giggles before taking a sip of her own hot chocolate, but the warming sensation on her tongue didn't last long when her cell phone wrung in her pocket.
"Moshi, moshi." Kagome said as she and L continued to walk, Kagome had dropped L's hand to answer her cell phone and hold her hot chocolate.
"Kagome, it's been ages. How has living with Ryuzaki been?" Gramps said from the other line, Kagome's eyes widened and her split into a bigger smile.
"Hey Gramps, how are you and Momma?"
"Oh? We're getting Souta out of jail. Kagome, I hate to ask you this but your mother sure won't, can we borrow some money? Please?"
Kagome's mouth was opened wide with surprise as she stopped in her tracks, Ryuzaki stopped walking and stared at her curiously.
