Fatal Attraction Chapter 1
Present Day: 2019
Early morning sunlight breaks in through the tinted windows of the bedroom. They graze Adaline's face, causing her to blink as she climbs out of her slumber.
Yawning Adaline rolls onto her back, stretching like a cat.
Turning to her right Adaline finds her husband to already be awake, lying on his side, simply watching her.
Smiling softly at him, Adaline said "Good morning."
Chuckling, Larry Trainer said "Good morning, Beautiful."
Adaline tugs the bandages covering his mouth down a little, placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
Years ago, when Adaline had first been brought to Doom Manor by Dr. Niles Caulder, she had been introduced to the other inhabitants residing her for refuge. They'd been renowned air force pilot Larry Trainer and the actress Rita Farr. Both of them were in the same boat as her, having experienced dreadful accidents that result in the mutated states they now find themselves in permanently.
Adaline has to admit while Rita was very open and welcoming it took a hell of a long time for her and Larry to actually connect. Following everything they've gone through separately it's understandable that there would be some serious trust issues that are attached.
It took months before Adaline was even remotely comfortable opening up with all the mistrust, she carried from being treated like a freak, an item for people to do just as they wished with.
But, during the interlude, Adaline really came around from the first time Larry really did make an actual effort to talk to her. And once those conversations started, they never really stopped. The progress was slow but worth it.
When Larry informed her that he'd been imprisoned by the Bureau of Normalcy for a number of years before the Chief took him here that's when they really made a bond. Adaline had managed to evade the Bureau of Normalcy's agents, but he ended up getting caught because of the crash. It made it easier for them to get their hands on him when he was being treated for his wounds and contained them because of the devastating radiation oozing from his body constantly. He entrusted to her that he did have a chance to escape once…Larry's fear prevented him from taking the leap. Scared to death he'd hurt people the second he stepped outside his cell.
This was prior to the radiative resistant bandages being introduced to Larry and he didn't have to fear moving around out in the open as much as he used to.
Funnily enough, the Negative Spirit was shyer toward her than him. Negative Spirit was afraid of her reaction. He may live inside Larry, but the two don't necessarily have a peaceful coexistent relationship to share. Negative Spirit needn't have been so petrified. Sure his circumstances are unique, but so is everyone else's in this crazy household.
Adaline suspects that maybe Negative Spirit shared in Larry's pleasure and enjoyment after she moved in with Larry.
Although Negative Spirit would be hard-pressed to admit it.
Larry certainly never would.
Something Adaline loves to tease her husband about sometimes.
Although it took a long time for them to come about.
When it comes to their intimacy, Adaline seriously had to coax him into it. In contemplation of the amount of radiation seeping from him, Larry had been afraid he'd kill him from simple skin-to-skin touch contact. Adaline was required to quickly reassure him of the contrary. Her powers make her immune to the effects of the radiation.
A huge relief to Larry once he calmed down enough.
Everything following is complete bliss that they never get tired of.
The pair ended up getting married a year before the 4th member of the household Jane was delivered to their doorstep. It was a small ceremony with Chief and Rita as witnesses. The priest picked to personally ordain them was a trusted friend of Niles that had no consternations in regard to enacting their wedding.
Larry and Adaline's union has handed them a lot of happiness in their isolated existence away from the rest of the world.
The happy pair fully enjoy every waking moment they spend as a couple.
"Do we have to get up today," asked Larry. "I don't think I want to get out of this bed."
"You know we have to. Cliff told us he wanted to show us the improvements he made on the model," rebuked Adaline, tapping a light finger on his nose.
Cliff Steele was brought to the house in 1996 and after the news of his family's death, he's basically not left his quarters any more times than you can count a single instance on both hands in order to cope. Around 2002 Cliff was gifted a race car track set for him to occupy his time. To be honest that was the only thing that got him to even move after close to half a decade of solitude and hardly ever talking to them. He spent the majority of his time there working on the racetrack and adding more and more structures, buildings, and landscapes. It now looks like a miniatures town that covers the entire length of his room exponentially. The Chief even gave leave to have the wall connecting his chambers to the neighboring room in order to create more space for Cliff's masterpiece.
It really is quite extraordinary. The fact that he singlehandedly carved, painted, and pieced together every object on it, including the toy car models, showed how focused and dedicated he was.
Few things could remove him from there considering he isn't required to eat or sleep in his robot body.
Well, there was one other occasion Cliffe decided to step out for.
That reason is about to wake up in her bed.
Cordelia releases a light groan, shifting in her bed and rubbing the sleep from her eyes with her fists.
"Mama? Papa," she called, groggily.
Their beloved daughter was born around 6 years ago in 2013 a couple of years after Cliff fully awakened from limbo. The labor was hard and long, but well worth it to Adaline to hold her precious daughter in her arms. Larry was difficult to convince. You see, when Larry found out his wife was pregnant, he nearly had a breakdown and locked himself alone in their room for almost a week. At last, Adaline couldn't stand it anymore, putting her foot down. As Adaline confronted him about the unconscionable reaction, he confided in her something he hadn't quite divulged previously. Preceding the accident that made him this way Larry had been married with a wife and two sons while at the same time being gay and in a relationship with one of his fellow pilots. He loved his family and his lover both but neglected them in alternate ways. Not being honest with his family and being there for them as a father should be to his sons. Then with his old lover, brave enough to step into the light and be with him.
It had been a disaster.
Larry is filled with remorse, guilt, and shame for his actions to his day. Of not living his life to the fullest with any of them. This had pressed on him even more knowing the fact that his sons must've gone their whole lives now believing he just disappeared abandoning them.
In his relationship with Adaline, Larry never once dreamed he'd ever be able to have children with her. He just assumed the radiation made him incapable of conceiving with her. Her pregnancy ends up causing all his fears about resembling a terrible father to another child to rise to the surface again.
Basically, history repeating itself in his eyes.
Adaline comforted him, firmly telling her Larry that he was a different version of the man he once was. And that the child growing inside her is a second chance to do things as he should've done the 1st time around.
Eventually, Adaline succeeds in convincing Larry that everything is going to be alright.
Larry becomes determined to be a better father to this baby. To do right by he or she.
Despite being a nervous wreck, filled to the brim with anxiety that sends his nearly pounding heart out from his chest, Larry remained at her side the entire time she was in labor.
Cliff had to hold Larry up when it was announced the baby is a little girl. Larry held the delicate Cordelia so tenderly it warmed her heart. She swears Larry couldn't stop grinning for weeks underneath his bandages. From then on, he took every milestone Cordelia went through in stride.
Since Cordelia was born, she'd been sleeping in her parent's room with them. Tests were done directly after she was born and turns out fortune is on their side.
Cordelia actually has natural immunity to any type of radiation. Meaning it's safe for her to interact with her father even when he has the bandages off.
Larry refuses to take them off when Cordelia is around, not wanting to risk it, and end up tainting this precious treasure.
Also, even glimpsing his true face might've ended up severely traumatizing her for life.
Can't have that.
"I got her," sighed Adaline. "You get dressed while I get her ready."
Larry heads into the bathroom to change his clothes, and Adaline to their daughter's bed. By the time he emerges, Adaline has Cordelia in a little pink tunic with matching leggings, boots, and long hair tied in a neat braid down her back.
Smiling impishly at him, Cordelia said "Hi, Papa."
Picking Cordelia up and kissing her cheek, Larry said "Morning, Sweetheart. You read to go visit Cliff."
"Yeah. Let's go," exclaimed Cordelia, bouncing in her father's arms, much to their shared amusement.
"And afterward we'll have a nice big breakfast. Just the three of us. How does that sound," said Adaline, tickling Cordelia's neck.
Cordelia nods, giggling.
The small family of three heads out feeling it's going to be a good day.
Authors Note:
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
