The owner of the Death Note cannot be killed by a God of Death who is living in the world of the Gods of Death (Shinigami Realm). Also a God of Death who comes to the human world, in the objective to kill the owner of the Death Note, will not be able to do so.
Only a God of Death that has passed on their Death Note to a human is able to kill the owner of the Death Note.
February 1st, 2004: Higurashi Shrine
Kagome rubbed her eyes tiredly, it was currently 3 in the morning and she sat with her knees tucked up under her and a red blanket draped over her and Ryuzaki who sat next to her, holding her hand in his own as he sipped his sugar water (tea with many sugar cubes in it) quietly. Kagome yawned and Ryuzaki's eyes shot over to her, she gave him an annoyed stare and held her hand up, signaling that she wasn't going to go to bed.
"You need the sleep..." He mumbled moodily, setting the cup down. She rubbed her eyes again and ran a hand through her hair messily.
"I'll be fine." Her stubbornness rang clear and he sighed, leaning against the other arm of the couch and tugged her to his body. Before she could react to this action she was set up against him with her head against his chest. A blush stained her cheeks and she glared up at him, he only raised an eyebrow at her and folded his arms behind his head, looking up at the ceiling.
"I'll be fine-" She started to say and began to move but he wrapped an arm around her ribs and kept her still.
"If you move I won't leave your side until next Thursday."
Kagome blinked as another blush ran across her cheeks and she settled back against his chest, her teeth scrapping the side of her cheek as she sighed. The ticking of the clock was the only sound as the light in the kitchen was the only source of light.
"This is starting to get crazy and out of hand…" Kagome mumbled, Ryuzaki nodded in agreement, keeping silent. They sat in silence for a while before Kagome drifted off in to a dreamless sleep. Ryuzaki held her tighter against his body and continued to look up at the ceiling. His mind wondered about the threat that hung over the Higurashi boy's head, when would Kira strike next?
February 3rd, 2004
She cried in joy and relief that the man who had so carelessly killed her parents was captured and killed, by a heart attack no less. She got the news just this morning, he had died yesterday afternoon- and she couldn't be more relieved!
"Kira." She cried in front of her parents' grave, her hands covered in black lace that covered her light blue eyes and her cheeks stained with little rivets of black. She sniffed and clasped her hands in front of her, bearing her face to the world and her head to the sky in a dazed like prayer.
"Kira," She repeated, her lips painted black and stretched into a smile mixed with relief and bitterness. "Thank you for capturing my parents' murderer. Thank you for this sense of relief I feel knowing that you are looking out for me, that you are protecting me." She stood up and looked down at the grave, the last name Amane sticking out and burning a place in her memory.
"I promise you I will find you in this world and work right by your side, or my name isn't Misa Amane!" Her small fists clenched in determination as she spun away from the grave, her black dress flared up then settled back down around her ankles as her black boots marched through the dreary graveyard and disturbed the fog that had settled around while she was talking to her parents' grave.
February 5, 2004: Kagome's Apartment
L sighed as he walked around, greeting everyone as he did so. He sat down on the couch and Watari moved to bring out his tea.
"Thank you, Watari." The older man nodded before bending down and whispering into his ear.
"You know we must leave Miss Higurashi soon, don't you?"
L sighed and nodded, "I do. How are the plans coming along?" he asked his mentor. Watari nodded and his glasses glinted in the lighting of the apartment.
"Well underway, Sir. It should be ready within another two or three months." L nodded his head and drummed his fingers across his knees. He was worried for how Kagome would fare and be without some company, especially when Souta could so easily die by Kira's making.
"L, you can continue to stay here to look after Kagome and I'll stay with them and we can communicate between. If you want."
L stared at his old friend and mentor, then looked to Aizawa and Mogi as they were positioned around the coffee table. Soichiro stared tiredly at L, waiting to see what his answer would be. L sighed, sipping at his tea.
"Kira is top priority, first and foremost. Though my concern with Kagome's mental state and physical wellbeing are a close second. Watari, you will find a suitable place for us until the new building development is ready. When found I will give Kagome a three day notice of our departure and then I will stay behind for two weeks. Watari and I will check in on her periodically." He left no room for argument as he stood up and slipped his shoes on, walking out of Kagome's apartment to meet her for coffee by the university.
As the door closed Watari still stood there, assessing L's mood before smiling to himself.
"I didn't know it was possible anymore." Watari spoke out, Soichiro looked to the old man with a curious gaze. He smiled at the man before elaborating. "He seems to care for her a great bit. I dare say he borderline loves that poor girl."
Watari walked out of the living room while the three men looked at each other with tired eyes, Soichiro started to pet Buyo as he meowed and moved his way into the kitchen. Soichiro sighed at how tired he and his men had been.
"We'll take a small break and regroup in a few hours." Soichiro concluded, gathering his papers up.
"Alright, someone wake up Matsuda." Aizawa said, Mogi stood up and walked to the guest bedroom, and shook the sleeping Matsuda awake. The man grumbled and swat at Mogi, before rolling over and off the bed. He connected with the cold floors and shot awake, Matsuda glanced around before looking back to Mogi, who only rolled his eyes and left the room.
Matsuda groaned and rubbed his sore face, standing up and swaying out of the room to make himself some coffee.
At the coffee shop
Kagome sighed into her cup of coffee, the stress from the last couple of days seeming to melt away from the sweet smell coming from the cup. L sat on the other side of the booth from her, and she smiled secretly into her cup.
"Really, Ryuzaki, I'm fine."
"I know, but I'm still going to worry about you." He said and stuck a sweet piece of cake into his mouth. Kagome rolled her eyes and stole the strawberry from the top of his cake. Ryuzaki's eyes widened just a fraction as he watched her stick the strawberry up to her pink lips and take a bite.
He swallowed hard as a bead of sweat ran down behind his ears and a blush tinted his cheeks, the blush grew fiercer when Kagome smiled at him cheekily.
