Spencer's POV

"…So yea…can you please just call me back so we can talk. Please. I love you." I disconnect the call, leaving my third voice mail today for Ashley.

We haven't talked since the other night. Yesterday I was all about being pissed at her and showing her that she doesn't control me as much as it seems. I was trying to be that girl, you know? That girl who shows self restraint and doesn't feel like crying whenever their boyfriend or girlfriend isn't showing them the attention they want. And the sad thing is that Ashley and I aren't together and I still am that girl anyway. It burns me up that she didn't call me yesterday to see what's going on with me or just to talk. So today I'm back to being that girl…the one who gets upset and wants to cry and leaves text messages and phone calls, wanting answers.

"Okay…no. Just no." Mia snatches my phone out of my hand.

"Mia I'm not in the mood for your crap." I sigh and lay back on her bed. Mia party was last night and all my friends were too drunk to drive so we all crashed at Mia's. Jessica and I slept in Mia's bed. Mia's and Aiden crashed in Mia's mom bed.

I checked my phone for missed phone calls or texted from Ashley as soon as Jessica got up to make something to eat. It's almost one and Ashley hasn't contacted me at all.

"I'm serious." Mia sits down next to me. "The moping has to stop. You're too young to be hung up on some girl."

"I'm going home." I try to stand but Mia tugs on my t-shirt, making me fall back onto the bed.

"Sit down and shut up." She hands my phone back. "I'm sorry. I know that was a little insensitive." I give her a look. "Okay, maybe a lot of insensitive. And I actually like Ashley, I just hate that she's making you so sad lately."

"Do you think she's talking to that Andy guy and just hasn't told me yet?"

Mia rolls her eyes and walks over to her dresser. "No." She reaches in and grabs some clothes. "Ashley might be acting like a crazy person right now but I don't think she would do that to you. I don't think you believe she'd do that to you either so let's not jump into crazy land just yet. Wait until you talk to her."

"I guess." I stand up from the bed and push my phone into my pocket. "Is Jessica cooking for everyone or just herself?"

Mia laughs. "I'm pretty sure she made herself a bowl of cereal."

Ashley's POV

I finish listening to Spencer's voice mails and sigh. Yesterday she wanted to ignore me and today she's already texted and called me a handful of times. We really need to get it together because this is getting to be ridiculous.

I send Spencer a text letting her know that I'll call her later before leaving my room to search for my mom.

"Hey mom." I walk into the kitchen to see my mom finishing up the dishes from lunch. "Where's Shane?" I ask when I don't see him in the kitchen. I haven't seen or heard from him since breakfast. I didn't think much about it because I was lost in my own thoughts about my situation with Spencer.

"Hey baby and he went over his friend Michael's house." I hum and take a seat at the table. "So…how about you and I enjoy a nice day in? We can pull up Netflix and watch movies all day."

"Sounds good." I agree right away. Things between my mom and I are defiantly improving. This new job she has boosted her confidence and she has been spending a lot of time trying to work on her relationships with my brother and I. The divorce hurt her deeply. My dad wasn't the best husband or man but that doesn't change the fact that he was a person she cared a great deal about.

And I know the feeling. He might have done something's that hurt me but he still is my father and no matter how much I want to hate him, I don't. He's still a person that I care about.

After my mom finishes with the dishes, we move into the living room and spend hours watching movies. We took a couple of breaks to get food and call my brother and check on him but went right back to the movies after. Shane comes home around seven and we all watch a movie together before getting ready for bed.

When I'm done getting ready for bed I go to my mom's room to talk to her about something that's been on my mind all day.

"Come in." I climb onto the bed next to her. "What's on your mind, hunny?"

I close my eyes and just relax into her touch for a few minutes before speaking. "I've been saving."

I open my eyes and my mom is just staring at me. "Okay?"

"I like it here. I do." My mom starts to frown and I know she knows where this conversation is going but I say it anyway. "But I liked our old home better."

"You miss Spencer?"

"Of course." I nod. "But…I don't know. I feel like you and Shane have a place here. You guys love it and everything is working out so well for you guys but…this place isn't for me."

"What are you trying to say, Ashley?"

"I want to move back."

"Ashley…"

"Mom….I know what you're going to say."

"Do you?"

"Yes." I nod. "I don't have a job and it's too far and my families here and what if…" I suck in a breath because this next thing I'm going to say is my greatest fear. "What if things don't work out with Spencer?"

"I think those are all fare arguments don't you?"

"Yes but…I already have a place to stay." My mom looks shocked. "I applied for a college just outside of the city and I was accepted. Next week they have a tour that you'll hopefully let me go to and I can finish all the paper work for my dorm."

"You already have a dorm?"

"Mom I really want to go. It'll be just like I'm going away for school but my girlfriend will be a lot closer. I'll come home on holidays and I'll get a part time job so you want have to send me money."

"It's not about the money Ashley." My mom sighs. "I know you love Spencer but you are changing your whole life to…"

"I know the risks mom." I cut in. "But the same thing can happen with anyone I'm with. People break up all the time. But I want to try. I really love her and she loves me."

"Ashley…"

"What? It's not like I'm just going there to be with her. I'm going to school where I'll be living on campus and getting an education."

My mom stares at me for a long minute before nodding.

"Okay then."

"Really?"

"If this is what you really want."

I scream because I'm so happy and tackle her into a hug.

"Thank you."
