If Dino made out a person to be bitter and downright nasty, I would usually take his word for it. If he went out of his way to bitch, by crikey. Dino was one of the nicest people I knew. But meeting new people wasn't my favourite part of the marriage process. And if they were like Dino-dearest described, I would prefer to do something else on my list of things, which were:
1) A gunfight - Texas style.
2) Walk on the moon
3) Drink alcohol. (Which was very tempting after everything that's gone on. Everybody kept nudging me to have one on the day. I told them I'd think about it.)
4) Climb Tokyo tower.
5) Survive a zombie apocalypse.
6) See what happens when Squalo's sword supposedly disappears.
Any of those would suffice greatly, but I didn't have any choice in the matter. Neither did Dino, but he didn't mind. He was the head - the image - of a family, so coincidently enough, he said he would do what he had to if it would better the family. I had to look like I was pleased to meet them.
Put on a smile love, He whispered, as dwindled with my hands. They were getting sweaty and I wasn't too happy about me having to get dolled up to meet some old acquaintances. Old people in general I felt weird around, mainly due to the London incident.
"You ready?" Dino asked and I think, spare his father's funeral and this coronation, this was the old time he'd willingly donned on a suit. Like, full out. Not just dress pants. Brushed hair ever. (And getting a comb through his was much easier than mine. Mind you, I don't brush it as often as I should.) "Gee, I never expected them to actually say yes to the invitation. I haven't talked to some of these people since….well, since I was a kid."
"They heard through the wind that we're getting married. Of course they'd be interested. they're old."
He snorted. "Watch it! One day, we'll be old too!"
"Nope. You see, you're wrong there. I'm going to be a vampire that never ages. That's my back up plan."
My red lips parted as he tried to hold down a laugh. We were waiting in a separate room till Romario gave us the okay that they'd arrived. Iemitsu was pleasantly pink when he heard and apparently I was the talk of the workplace, much to my dismay. He told me that if I finished the den before the wedding starts, he'd double my paycheck. And I got paid monthly so I wanted it. I was going to buy me a new set of pistols.
"It's going to be fine, trust me. Just remember you manners and smile. They dote over pretty girls like you."
"Ehe….that doesn't really help…."
Romario was here. He knocked on the door and called after us.
"Then just think of this afternoon." He lifted my cheek and pecked it. "The movers are going to be here at three."
That's right, I remembered. I'm moving in. That completely missed my mind.
"You forgot, didn't you?" Dino guessed.
My eyes bulged and with a cheeky grin my sarcasm came out. Apparently, it would be the undoing of a lady like me, but hell, it was the best thing I ever had.
"Ha, no."
"You did, you did!" He called, rising up to his tiptoes. "You always do that thing with your eyes, like your trying to look backwards!"
"Do not." I argued, laughing under my breath. "Let's just do this thing already. I want to go back to bed."
One on the men, Divani, waved us through, into the courtyard.
Time to smile.
~o0o~
"Thank you." I told the lady, who was holding a teacup with her left hand. We were in the garden today, since it was so nice outside. I had no idea what to do, but Dino was away with the men, so I had to sit with their wives. Mafia boss business, I guess. Didn't see any female bosses but yeah….
That didn't mean I could keep my guard down. There were a lot of people here that had other agendas, and not just to do with us. That woman with the floral shirt? She's having an affair with Italy's finance minister. That man just buried his four year old son a week ago, who apparently had died due to an accident.
They were all asking general, if not quite personal questions, and I climbed my way through most of them, articulately dodging the more awkward ones. The woman weren't all that smart to be fair. They knew what they knew and most of them, they had arranged marriages. The most I heard from them was how lucky I was to nab such a fine man with the social class I had. These women were boring. Some of them were nice, not spiteful in any way like some of the looks I'd gotten when we walked side by side in the streets on a normal day.
There was another visitor that came. I didn't really expect Aria to come, nor did I know that Dino had invited her over. So I had to pleasantly leave the lovely group of ladies to greet the new guest at our home. Could I even call it ours? No, it didn't feel like it. My home was that apartment and I wasn't happy that after paying the mortgage that I had to sell it. Luckily, Basil wanted to find somewhere to crash, so he was going to rent it out till the mortgage was paid off.
Her pet dog was by her side, like he usually was, but I didn't see Yuni. I realised then that it was a strategic move on her part and I wasn't hurt that she didn't bring her over. Bringing children to an event like this where so many powerful Mafia bosses are was unwise. This was an engagement party, so it had to be formal. Not only was children kept away from the ceremony, despite Dino saying that he wouldn't have minded though he really did know how serious the matter was. He liked kids.
Dino was still attending to the men, so I briskly walked over to greet the female boss. She was wearing a very smart pencil skirt that matched her eyes, and I found myself wishing I could look that good. I usually just pick whatever is first in the closet.
Aria greeted me first.
"Hello there Phillipa. Haven't seen you since the Archeballeno trials. How are you and Reborn?"
"Reborn's fine." I replied, waving a hand. "He's still over in Japan with Tsuna, but he said he can make the wedding. What about you guys?"
"Oh, I'll definitely come." Smiled Aria, nodding. Gamma tensed a little, realising that he was included in the question. He nodded as well, and said that if his boss was going, then he would too.
That was nice. I didn't think that Tsuna or the others would be able to make it, due to school commitments and what not, so haveing some people that I knew there would be very lovely indeed.
After that, Aria bowed slightly and went over to chat with Dino, and I had a breath of sweet air before I had to spill my lungs out to the women back there. I had a tune on my mind and before I knew it, red wine splashed all over my clothes as a man in his forties struggled with his weight.
"Oh my, terribly sorry! Sorry!" The man repeated, afraid and smug that he'd gotten some of my favourite clothes dirty. He didn't smile about it or anything like that, in fact if I wasn't the person I was, maybe he would have appeared genuinely upset.
I was.
"Uh…" I stood there as the red stained my skirt, dripping off the bottom ends and down my legs. They made my tights feel really icky and I sighed in disgust. I still had to keep a calm face, remember. Despite my connections, I wasn't well known. Some of the girls and lads thought I'd mysteriously appeared out of nowhere. My excuse was that I was a civilian originally from America. That was what Dino made up. He even thought so far as an 'epic backstory' in his own words, but I told him I could do it on my own.
"Oh dear, are you alright Miss…..?"
He looked at me expectantly and my eyes thinned. No way was I giving this creep any time of day!
"Excuse me, I must wash this off or else it will stain."
Ya slimy drunked. Al would've clomped you over the head.
I refrained from speaking to him anymore and excused myself from the party. Dino came over to ask me what was wrong, saw the mess and I told him simply that I was going to take a shower. The wine had gotten in my hair, in my armpits and I had no wanting to smell like my mother.
"I'm fine." I told him and he watched as I went upstairs to our room. There was an ensuite that was there, so I used that one. I had some clothes already packed here, when I stayed over for a night, so I got some of those and locked the door behind me.
It felt nice to be rid of that smelly wine shit. It felt nice to be free from the crowd as well. I didn't take a long shower, since I didn't want to leave Dino out there on his own. I was fully dressed by the time there was a knock on my door.
"Miss?" Called the voice, in the politest manner. "Boss sent me us to see how you were doing."
"Come in Jenny!" I told her. Jenny was one of the senior maids here, in her late forties, working her way in this business to support her family. She had spindle-like hair that was always pinned back.
"You doing okay Miss?"
"It's Phillipa, Jenny. You really don't need to use those formal words with me. I really don't care about those things." I shrugged. "I'm doing okay. That dick ruined a good shirt of mine, but physically, I'm okay."
"Would you mind giving me your stained clothes Miss Phillipa. I'll do my best to rid those stains for you. " Jenny held out her hands and I pointed to the bathroom. They were still on the floor. She nodded. "Very well Miss, let's blow dry your hair, yes? Can't go back out there looking like a sheep!"
"Alright."
It didn't take that long. I just sat there while she played away with my hair. It was only within the space of ten minutes that it was all dry. Jenny insisted that she escort me back out.
"That man was Matherson Malverick, Miss."
"Oh yeah, who's he?"
"He's the one who's giving Boss quite a lot of trouble. I've been here for a while and he's been snooping for even longer."
I blinked. "Ah, he's the one that's after Dino's money?"
"Indeed."
"And Dino is aware?"
"Of course!" She remarked. Jenny didn't act like a maid, and that was calming. She felt motherly. "Boss knew from when he was a child, Miss!"
I sighed and grabbed onto the banister as I was watching my steps down the stairs. He would be trouble with that mindset, I told myself, knowing fully too well the type of man he was.
Outside again, I bidded adieu to my friend as she went to see if preparations were going smoothly for dinner tonight. It'd just be us. Quite an exit I made, I think, because once I linked arms with Dino again, I was bombarded with questions on clothes and cats and general rubbish that seemed to interest them. It was like that for the rest of the party. I hated parties.

I bellyflopped onto the bed once every box from my house had been shifted. Dino's room looked like a tip, but we were both tired from having to talk to everybody. My tummy felt upset from having to force myself to drink some wine after the bantering ladies started to question me on bedroom matters.
Dino had changed out of his snazzy suit and into a shirt that said shazzam! Wondering how he came across it, I didn't bother to move from my position.
"Feeling better?"
I shook my head. "Not really. Never do when alcohol is involved. But I'm going to have an early night, I've got training tomorrow."
As he laid on his side, he patted the small space between us, holding his head up with his left arm. "Say, what do you do as a trainee astronaut anyway?"
I rolled like a rolling pin, closer to him until I had to support my own head to see his face. "Techniques, mostly Plotting and planning. Malcomson says we'll be doing escape techniques for the next week, which involves swimming…."
"Don't worry about it, you'll be fine, I bet."
"I hope so."
"And when you do we can look the the future!"
"That sounds nice." I admitted, weighing out the options. I apparently die in the future, but that's inevitable, isn't it? I rolled onto my other side and went to put my pyjamas on. While it looked bleak, and while I didn't like to think about the future because of what happened, I felt very hypocritical saying that it was a good thought. Very becoming of a walking contradiction.
"Huh." I shrugged and closed the drawer. "Maybe."

The first Apollo spacecraft was originally designed to earth by landing on the largest body in earth's surroundings, the ocean. This meant that we not only had to train indoors, but we had to train outdoors as well. In the ocean itself, with full body suits. It was tiring. During this time, we were also helped by the nearest coast-guard. This was to ensure that if we ever did fall into the sea, we wouldn't dilly-dally when rescuers came.
I was taught extensive lessons in the core of the space-centre, which was monitoring and knowing what was what on the switchboards. Some for electricity, others to lock certain parts of the floating office down, incase of an outer breach that could cause valuable gas to escape into the atmosphere.
Floating in zero-gravity definitely took some getting used to. I was taught how to deal with it in the fourth week, but I was given half of the week off in preparation for the wedding.
It was scary, how fast the date was approaching. I was caught up in everything and time, once again, was fluidly passing me with confidence that I kept lacking. My stomach hadn't gotten better. I was too nervous this morning to eat.
I lied alone in the bed for a while, just staring up at the ceiling, wondering how this was all going to turn out.. I hoped that the invitations that were sent out had gotten to everyone. This was a drag race of a wedding, if I had to compare it to something.
"Good morning." I said to myself, as dust particles in the air floated delicately, the satin curtains blocking the strong sunlight. "Congratulations. You made it this far in your life Phillipa without being killed. Good job."
Jenny was the first to greet me, with the hairdresser and makeup specialists. I felt alone in this gigantic room, but Dino said it could be my own if I wished. It had been his mother's personal space, so I felt honoured, We'd decided on the traditional route, because I wanted this day to go smoothly. I didn't want to become agitated over silly little things like if we saw each other or not in the morning.
"Rise and shine!" She called, singing. I saw she had her best uniform on, one that was made for the reception. I wish she'd come, but unfortunately, she had to stay back here and make sure everything was down to a pinpoint. I didn't even know what half of the things that were happening but she was pretty damn excited, like everyone else. "Time for the prettiest bride in the world to get ready!"
"You talkin' to me?" I asked, sitting up. My hair, no doubt, looked like a bird nest, by the way it hung above my eyes. I yawned, rubbing my eyes. "Because I could've sworn you had that title."
"Oh you. Come on Miss, let's get you ready! Your dress will arrive in ten minutes, so let's start on your hair. For breakfast today, would you like some fruit, or something that won't stain the dress? Best not to, right?" Jenny directed the makeup artist into the room, to put her case in the corner. "Yes, yes. Right there love."
Looks like I should get ready.
I'm getting married today.
Oh god, never thought I'd be able to say that.
"Nothing please." I whisper, feeling the rug underneath my feet. "I'll eat later."

All was normal within the Sawada household. Mama was in the kitchen, just like she always was, taking note of the pantry stock and making a note in her black book of what needed to be restocked and whatnot. On the counter, the radio was switched to the pop station, something Mama liked to do everyday.
"The power you're putting out is real~ How serious are you, by what percent!? Someday I'll go all out - 100 percent. It'll be tiring, but….."
Lambo was sword fighting with I-Pin in the hallway, declaring himself the king of the house. He was growing, this kid was. It wouldn't be long till he grew out of that kid's onesie and into something less comfortable. Lambo couldn't wait for the day where he could go out with Baka-Tsuna and the others to fight baddies.
"Take that!"
"Ow! Lambo, no hit hard!"
"Nyahaha!"
"Come here!"
"It's best to properly let people know~, When you feel like saying "thank you!" ..Or feel like saying "I'm sorry", right? I wonder if I can be honest with you…"
Tsuna walked around them and into the kitchen, scratching the back of his head. Something had been annoying him for a while, and he really wanted to talk about it with someone. Mama was the first one there.
"Hey, Mama….."
She spun on one heel.. Overly happy this morning, was the word. "Oh, what is it Tsu-na~?"
"Does my hair look like a starfish to you?"
Rather bluntly, she shrugged. "I think it looks like a lovely fluffy cloud!"
Tsuna sighed. "Mama…"
"Starting tomorrow I'm going to buckle down and get serious so, Hey heey, I'm sleepy sleepy~! It'd be better for me to try after I get a good night's rest…."
"Oh, sorry, I know you're getting to be a man, sorry!" She blushed while apologising, a ditzy feeling in her eyes. "But, you'll need hair gel for it, right? I should put that down also!"
"H-Hey!"
"Ah, what a time to be young again!"
"I'll tell you, tell you! 100 percent of my feelings for you~ I haven't had enough practice, with some percent of those feelings either, but….."
~o0o~

Worlds away from the safe haven of Mama's home was the Varia compound. Like Mama, Lussuria had his favourite set of songs on his speaker system. Annoyingly, Squalo could hear it through the wall. Some Japanese crap, he guessed.
"The power you're putting out is real, How serious are you, by what percent?! Someday I'll go all out - 100 percent. It'll be tiring, but….."
He was seriously going to bash the wall in soon, if it hadn't been for the white envelope that had been sitting on this bedside table. Everybody had gotten them, and he wished he hadn't opened it.
"This moment called "right now", I'm so shy and awkward, but I have to say it. If I believe that I can tell you the right way, I know I'll be able to be honest with you….~"
A wedding invitation, of all things. He didn't know which people were going to attend. He doubted that Boss would. Lussuria, probably….. He was now weighing his options out, lounging back in the couch, glancing up at the ceiling.
"Starting tomorrow I'm going to buckle down and get serious so….Hey heey, I'm sleepy sleepy~! It'd be better for me to try after I get a good night's rest…"
"VOI!" Squalo shrieked. "Turn that piece of shit off, I'm thinking here!"
He considered skipping.
He considered going.
He considered also skipping, again.
"I'll tell you, tell you! 100 percent of my feelings for you~ And we'll all be able to smile
Energetic as always!"
That was it. He was going to fucking tear this shit-hole down to turn that crap off.
And it wasn't even breakfast yet.
~o0o~
Hey guys! Hope everything is going okay with you! This, personally, is one of my favourite songs ever. Hope you like it. We're one chapter closer! :D
Replies:
Natachoco: Me too. I like that everyone is diverse enough to entertain me.
GirloftheArts: Yes, my baby is growing up like a man! *even if he said that there was a high possibility of pant pissing….* :)
LeoInuyuka-chan: Alrighty, will do. Get used to it. I'ma use it every chapter. :)
Animefreak1123: Um, she was debuting her poetry. I can send you a link of some of it, if you'd like? *isn't sure* Most of those are my favourites as well~ :)
My Name Is Alice: Well guess what, it's the exact same in New Zealand. Literally four seasons in one day, no jokes. I keep dressing for winter and by the time I get to some of my lectures it's turned into summer. *dies of unfairness* Oh wow, you did! I never knew people actually paid attention to what I put in the music area. That's one of my favourite reviews, right there. And yes. It might come.
Akayuki Sawada: When he decided that he was a freakin man! *jokes* I don't know. But I guess, there's always something you gotta stand for, and when you do, things randomly happen and I usually can't control my mouth in those situations…
What were my favorite characters? Well, Dino and Squalo. Obviously. I've also liked Reborn, Mammon, Skull, Fran (My friend's absolute favourite, by far.) and Spanner.
Ah, I love these conversations with you guys.
Till whenever I come to procrastinate.
