It was too hot, in my opinion. Both the weather and the vibes from everyone weren't particularly bending either way on the thermometer, but I wasn't at all normal now. It was a really strange thing, being hot and then getting cold again, both a neverending cycle. I could have sworn that I had a better circulation before this, but now? Bah. No way. I was in a tank top and long black jeans, so that if I did get cold, that at least my legs would be getting some heat retained. Stomach was poking out and rumbling like it hadn't been already fed. I was at the end of many many many advising comments from Nana. She wanted me to come visit her when the babe was born, because apparently now that Tsuna's a little older, she's feeling a little detached and lonesome. Don't know why though, she has the other kids with her.

Nether-the-less, it seemed that a large sized, chocolate milkshake had found its way into my hands. How, you ask? No idea. The first day had commenced, and I was travelling back to the Sawada complex, just sipping quietly. Fran was by my side, giving his side of the events that happened. He was enjoying it thoroughly; the inflicting pain and confusion on others part, not on him part. Luckily, he wasn't hurt nor was his watch. However, his hat had magically transformed into the shape of a purple pineapple, since he had taken a liking to taunting Mukuro, even though he told me time and time again that the "Pineapple Fairy" appears in his dreams to scare the bejeebers out of him. Recently, he had started to call me names. Not anything nasty or malicious, but before it was just "Boss". But now, after the meeting, I had been promoted to "Mother Fairy". Not as bad as Dino, who got "Boss, Horseface or Captain Klutz." Kinda made me feel old though. And then it occurred to me that I was.

So, as it turned out, the day after was Dino's big day. I laughed at him when he said that he was asked to be an English teacher at Namimori, for obvious reasons. I couldn't imagine it, nor could I fathom the idea that he'd be able to last in an environment like that, with what he went through with Reborn. No men around him either, so he'd have two feet in the air in no-time.

"Dango! Dango!" Fran had his hands in the air, mouth open in a perfect circle. "Mother fairy, can we get some Chicken Katsu as well? Mama will be asleep by the time we get back."

"I thought I brought you food back at the restaurant."

"I gave it to Starfish. With an expression like his, he looked like a dead fish."

I thought about it.

"No. Nana would have left us food. She wouldn't want me to go to bed without it."

"Nana?" He asked, and then remembered Sawada's mother's name. A nickname as well, for Nanakishi. I quite liked it, then again, the name Phillipa has an old connotation to it, and I think my mother was just lazy when she named me. "Why don't you call her Mama, like everyone else Boss?"

"She's a good person. But that's about it. She's not extraordinary. Getting attached to people drags you down, when you get to the end. I'm kinda jealous of you, in saying that, since you're indifferent about anything." I shrugged the rest of his question off. I didn't think anyone deserved to be called Momma by me, not even my own mother, now that I think about it. It's been so long since I've seen a picture of her, or her face. Even her death trance I couldn't fully recall. I was beginning to forget. "Tomorrow evening, you will go along with Starfish to Yuni's meeting. I don't want to go somewhere where the green bastard and Byakuran are. I'd burn their bones in front of everybody, right now if I wasn't pregnant."

"No helping it." He replied bluntly, cheekily lifting up my shirt. "Mini-boss, it's me, Fran. Mother fairy's angry, so why don't you take a back seat while she kills some folks."

Quickly, I smacked him hard on the head and pulled my shirt back down. "I'm going to skin you…."

The second day was a handful. Iemitsu asked me to keep an eye on the family while he and the rest of the gang went and had fun. And while I told him that he could stick his question where the sun don't shine, I still did.

Not like I had much of a choice. I couldn't go into battle with a slightly bulging belly, nor did I have control over my temper to be within a hundred foot radius of Byakuran and his fiends. My feet were aching unusually by the time the games were over, and I called Dino to see if he was okay. Apparently, he hadn't had a good time trying to talk Hibari into joining Reborn's team and I wasn't the least bit surprised. I think that boy would rather roll off a cliff than roll into a place filled with people. My guess was that the boy didn't have the patience to stomach environments like that. Mind you, right now, I think I'd rather sleep than sit here eating, while the children are running around the kitchen table, waiting for Nana to read them a bedtime story. Do you think I would get in trouble if I read them "Go the fuck to sleep?"

"So you're not dead?" I asked him, resting my elbow on the table, the phone in the same hand.

He coughed, making the connection staticy and I pulled away a little, cringing. He apologized. "No, I'm not. Why, were you worrying about me?"

"No."

"Hehe." I could imagine him covering his mouth as he laughed. He was the tiniest bit self-conscious to do it in public when I was around, although even before we started dating, he had no trouble doing it in front of passing bees. Geeze, hormones. "You are! Don't you worry love, nothing is going to kill me before our kid is born."

"It's going to fucking hurt when it does."

"No worries, you can have all the painkillers and chocolate chip cookies you want."

I smiled and sat back in the chair. "Oh Dino, you sure know the way to a girls heart."

He paused. "The food or the drugs?"

"Why not both? Both are good."

We talked about some menial things after, just really to waste time. While my thoughts were on the baby, he kept telling me how he thought things would go, and I kinda ended up hoping they wouldn't go the way he wanted. I mean, wow! Tall Reborn would be great, but I wasn't sure if there were going to be any killings on this tournament. Despite my rather dark, blunt demeanor, I could count the number of people I've killed purposefully or unintentionally on one hand. Not something you would say if people knew that you were the daughter of the world's greatest hitman, since people would think highly of me to follow in his fedora footsteps. But I was content in the ignorance of others.

"I want a boy!" Dino blurted.

"No way." I told him, thinking of what happened in the future. Dino was very vague at what he remembers. He remembers a lot, but not the fact that I died, nor how Squalo almost died, neither any information of our daughter. I wasn't even sure if I caught her name. Though he did remember being swallowed by Enzo, so at least he's got his priorities straight. "I bet it will be a girl."

"A girl? Sure, but a boy would be awesome! I can imagine a mini me right now, aha! They'll be cu-ute~ When it comes, should we keep him in our room?"

I wasn't sure if I should support or taunt him.

Chrome was found and apparently, in much worse shape than I had anticipated. Without her being able to sustain her organs, he was in a great deal of pain. I was surprised actually, that she was even alive still. She wasn't able to eat, since she didn't have a stomach, or couldn't secret phases. I wondered how far it went. Her brain wasn't gone, so I guess it wasn't effecting all of her organs.

Skull's team was out and by the sounds of how things went down were they able to stop it. All were taken down, and their watches stolen. Earlier I had visited Skull. He was unconscious, his cranium still recovering his nervous system and he couldn't move. Eternally, for the time being, he was in a place where all that could be was the night they were attacked. I'd seen the dark, wispy haired figures and I was very intrigued. It's not every day the Vindice comes into town. My mind was eager to keep track of what was going to happen next.

Nana had been working hard today, so she was upstairs with I-pin, taking a bath while I was downstairs with Lambo. He had tried to sneak in on them, but I had caught him, just as he did. I'd had a shower just before them, so I was drying my hair when the little creeper was spying through the keyhole. It was a little cooler now, so I was wrapped up in a blanket, watching a comedy show with Lambo, who was picking his nose and playing footsies with me for domination over the couch.

"Move! Lambo needs to stretch!"

"You move twerp!" I yelled back at him, keeping my eyes on the television box, pulling on the blanket. He screeched and poked his tongue out. I retaliated the same way. Fuuta smiled happily, being able to sit on the floor without anybody running him over. "I'm bigger, so I get the couch!"

"No! Lambo's a growing boy! Lambo needs the space!"

"Hey kid, this ain't no intervention! I'm growing for two so move ya caboose!"

"No fair!" He cried.

I smugly curled up, wearing the blanket the way you were supposed to. Over the head, like a cape. "Deal with it."

Coincidentally, Iemitsu was still around. I mean, yeah this is his house, but I figured he would be sleeping, since that was his absolute favorite thing to do in the entire universe. There would be many days when I would walk into his office to get some clarification on certain papers and he would be slumped over his desk, drooling all over the keyboard. Though despite his poor sleeping habits, the man was a beast. I couldn't get even one prank on him while he slept. It sucked.

"Calm down kiddies, we don't want a broken toe now."

Lambo pointed at me. "Papa! She won't let me sit!"

"You're sitting right now Lambo! Calm down for pete sakes, you'll bug the neighbours!" I scoffed and sat back further into the couch with a loud sigh. I was getting sleepy.

"Just come here." I picked him up, placed him on my lap and wrapped him up in the blanket, so that only our heads were poking out. He spun in my lap, and inspected my belly.

"You're fattening!"

Fran was nestled by Fuuta, in light green pyjamas, without a hat on. Nana never allowed them on indoors. Said it was bad luck. "Oooi Mother Fairy, we should make a human sacrifice out of him for good luck tomorrow."

That little shit just made a comment about my weight.

How rude.

Be calm Phillipa, he's just a child.

But children are so….grrrrrr.

I wonder if I can trick him into using the bazooka….then I wouldn't feel so bad about beating on him. The jerk.

"No. Your point of perspective is challenged, that's all."

He tipped his head in a confused fashion and very quickly, I broke out of the contemplating state when I felt an enemy flame that was very close to the house. My eyes shot to Iemitsu, who felt it as well. I could see it in the clenching of his teeth.

"The hell…..at this hour?"

"Master!" Basil yelled, as he sprinted down from the top level. His hair was a mess, stray flicks flying up, indicating his past doings. He was in his boxers and I noted how cute they looked on him. Light blue and nothing else, but two buttons on the front. "Did you feel that!?"

"It''s coming from outside!" Lal said, checking her gear.

"Phillipa, stay put and keep Nana and the kids out of it." Iemitsu headed out the sliding door with Basil and Lal following close in tow. I stuck a thumb up and nodded. Lambo was preoccupied on other things, like the news presenter on tv.

It was a surprise attack, the battle outside. They hadn't planned on the Vindice sending off the record employees to the house.

"Lambo, let's go upstairs, yeah? It's your turn to have a bath next. After, you, me, Fuuta, Nana and I-pin can have a story. How does that sound?"

"Can I have strawberry milk?"

"No, that's Fuuta's." I picked him up, took Fuuta by the hand and led them both upstairs to their room. Things were getting heated out there. I told Fran to watch Fuuta and Lambo while I went back down to check on the girls. The room was steamy and humid, so not my cup of tea. I only opened the door a crack and poked my nose in. Luckily, they had just gotten changed into their pyjamas. Not that I had any problem with seeing naked girls. I had no qualms.

"What's going on outside?" Nana asked questions, as I stepped aside to let them out. I told I-pin that the boys were in their room and she took off, lost in her own little, warm world.

"Nothing." I said.

"But there was a really loud explosion!" She turned to make her way downstairs and I jumped in front of her.

"It's probably nothing, really! Just some kids playing in the dark! Honestly, I think we should go check up on the kids." I placed my hands on her shoulder. "I promised them that we would read them -"

Ba-BOOM

The whole house shook and Nana fell back down the stairs. I fell into the wall, placing both hands on as stability. In a second I was at the bottom of the stairs to where Nana was, lying unconscious. Her breathing was okay, and nothing was bleeding or broken. I left her on the couch, under the blanket and I stepped outside.

Blood was everywhere. On the grass. On the house. Spurting from Iemitsu, the blood dripped in thick blobs out of his shirt and onto the pavement.

I moved quickly to dodge a chain that was aimed at my face. It crashed into the house, and I heard Iemitsu swear blue murder; thinking that he was still paying the deposit off on the house.

"You bastard!" I yelled, as Basil ran in front of me, as cover. But by the looks of things, I thought that Iemitsu and the others needed it. "Didn't your mother teach you how to treat a lady!?"

Not in response to my comment, but to himself rather, the man, the thing he spoke in a guttered voice that rumbled, but it's edges were sharp.

"I'll retreat." Is what he said, and the Vindice member disappeared in a flame, dissipating into the air, just as how they had retreated when they attacked Skull's team.

"Lal! Iemitsu!"

Above, in the sky, the Arcobaleno Colonnello came flying, being held by his clothes, as his trusted friend flapping furiously in the air. His wings beat hard against the cold night.

"What the hell happened!?"

"We were attacked." I said, going over to check Iemitsu, asking Basil to go inside to check on Nana, telling him that she had fallen down the stairs when the house was attacked. Iemitsu had a large gaping hole in his chest from the melee weapon the man had, but luckily it was only one, clean wound, so that would make it easier to treat. However, I didn't have the tools to sow him back up, so taking him to the hospital was our only option. His boss watch was broken too. Needless to say, I was dead tired by the end of it.

So much so that I fell asleep and accidentally missed the next round, which took place only minutes after I had. Of all the fucking luck, I was annoyed that I was getting round, getting tired, getting annoyed at getting annoyed. I was back to base one with the Sawada's; making sure that the non ones weren't involved, or knowledgeable about the forthcoming circumstances. So, that added to my things-to-be-annoyed-at list.

I was filled in after it was over, Reborn pinching my cheek. I had been hunched over in a rather uncomfortable chair, staying by Nana's side while she stayed the night at the hospital. Iemitsu was getting patched up in the theatre below. Things had gone to worse. The Vindice had appeared again and Fran had been there, though I was starting to wish that he hadn't. I felt overprotective of him and it was a feeling I think came with being pregnant.

Man, this birthing a babe process is strange. Do you think I could gain extra powers by the amount of kilos I have added from right now? Maybe. There's always a first for something.

Verde and Reborn's teams formed a mutual alliance, out of protection more than anything else. The Vindice weren't nice people, and I wished so hard that I could talk privately to one of them. I couldn't that right now and it pained me.

Chrome apparently busted her ass out of solitary confinement and found her mojo. I was pleased. But what concerned me the most was the stone pacifiers that the Vindice had. I hoped that my gut was right in telling me that there was much more to this than what we already knew. I would hate myself, if I was right, for that feeling was dreadful. Reborn was mine. I didn't want to lose him in some petty tournament.

A day later, Tsuna had secretly rounded up the remainder of the participants at his house, without Reborn knowing. I only caught a whiff of his mindset when I was going out to look after Yuni, since she got knocked out earlier by Mammon when a fight broke out at an Arcobaleno meeting. Apparently they weren't too happy about Reborn's consideration of Bermuda's offer. I was on their side as well. They didn't want me at the meeting, since I wasn't participating, but that's when I decided that I had enough.

The next night, I snuck out and followed the four men into the park, hiding in the thick shrubbery. It was was rare to see Dino, Squalo, Mukuro, Byakuran, Reborn and Xanxus within such close proximity of each other. Such things made my eyes bulge, doubting whether something like that would ever occur again. I could see Dino's fingers tighten around his whip, keeping his eyes straight forward. Squalo, like Dino, keeping marks of those who stood to beat them. My heart pounded for their safety and I put up my barrier. I couldn't see it. I don't know why. But it was there and I could hear the voice again, and it was clearer.

So I stopped it. I didn't feel safe from myself. I didn't want to admit that I was starting to care for the thing growing inside me.

It scared me.

My hand laid over the bag I had brought. Two straps and in a vivid red, I packed it so that it was filled with so many medicinal tools that it could barely zip up. I'd only refurbished most of my supplies a week ago, since most of them had been used already. Back in the future.

A demon stood across from them, with black hair that flayed out from under his hat. Chains swirled around his body, curling up into his fist. Muscles jarred out from underneath cloth bandages. His mind was a dark place.

Byakuran, my mind hissed at the name, stepped forward first to try his luck. The man was alone out here, and there were four participating, spare Reborn. It seemed like they had the advantage, but I knew better than to assume. The man irked me and I still had an overwhelming hatred for him. More so, his green harpie. And yet, despite this, my goal remained the same. I didn't want any deaths because sure enough, my lunch would probably bid me adieu before it gets digested. It's a bitter thing for me to think this way.

Blood hit the ground soon enough. And there was a lot of it. In three seconds flat, I gagged, watching as Xanxus's arm was cut clean off with what I think was the man's own arm. What the fuck? Not only that, in a split second after, he broke though Squalo's sword and right through the centre of his torso. My heart broke when Xanxus yelled at him and my mind played back what happened at the hotel. God damn it, why did that man have to chose me for fuck's sake?

Jager's short warping was incredible. As I wondered how he managed to get that fast, that quick and agile, he moved out of my line of vision. Blocks of pointed shields appeared behind the boys and flexed with their contours. A vivid black, Jager's arm went straight through the one Byakuran was hiding. Doubt entered my mind, questioning Verde's creations, so obviously his and I could see him hesitating.

Very quickly, Xanxus acted on the gap of time that Byakuran took to timidly shake his enemies hand. Violent sky flames shot out like a bullet train at the Vindice's head, blinding everything around us in a bright light. His leg muscles were slashed in an instant, blood clotting the pavement. Birds, there were no birds, they had been scared off by his aura.

Verde was able to clothe himself in a more suitable meatsuit, then donning over a green mosca, something I had completely forgotten about! It's arms were sliced off and along with them, Jager's arms weren't there. There was just small clouds of smoke. It felt inconceivable, but then again, I've seen talking babies and a french octopus.

I contemplated several things here. I thought, maybe I could run out there and fix those in need. Maybe I should stay here, out of harms way. Or maybe I should go get more help. Tsuna, Basil and Emna were fighting elsewhere, so I wondered if they were free.

Flimsy, Mukuro's trident was against Jager's hand, which had now reformed. It snapped, and the hand plunged into Mukuro's chest. Another jab to the throat or face would have killed him, if Dino hadn't grabbed it with the end of his whip, the tassels coiling.

No! I yelled, I screamed, I cried. No you buffoon! Don't get his attention! Don't fight, run! You'll end up like the others! You'll end up like Al! Please! Run!

And I had it right, unfortunately. I couldn't look, when Jager slashed his hand from Dino's shoulder to his pelvis. He was barely standing. Knees shaking, a hand holding his organs together. He couldn't move quick enough. Eyes closed. Face fruitful of pain. My hand was over my mouth, trying to calm myself down, me being afraid. As if I'll be found out. As if I would get caught. But, in that moment, I made a conscious decision to go out there.

I shot out of the bush with my shield up, bag slung over one shoulder. Just as I reached the closest, Squalo, who was unconscious and bleeding heavily, I heard Jager speaking this time. I couldn't hear his low, unshattered voice. I thought he would speak to Hibari, the one who stopped him before he could injure Dino. But no, it wasn't him. He spoke to me, in a cold, taunting voice.

"Come out and fight me, little girl."
