Authors note: Sorry it's kind off short, but either way I hope you like this late update. ;)

...

"Good morning mother." Regina came waddling in the kitchen with a smile on her face. Her left hand was supporting her belly as the other was resting on her lower back.

Cora looked up from the paper she was reading. "Good..." Her eyes quickly glanced at the clock. "Afternoon, darling." She smiled when she met her daughter's surprised gaze.

"It's already that late? I had no idea, I was just so tired."

"That would be a better excuse if I knew that sleeping was the only thing you did." Cora chuckled when she saw a blush spread over her Regina's cheeks. "The walls are quite thin, sweetheart."

"Mother!" Regina shrieked as she turned even more red. "You heard?!" She groaned aloud when her mother nodded.

"Yes, those sounds too."

"Stop it! This is so embarrassing!"

"Oh don't worry darling, I've been in that state of pregnancy too." Cora grinned as she reached for her mug and took a sip of the hot coffee.

"Oh my god, stop putting that image in my head." Regina reached for a chair facing her mother and slowly sat down.

"I'll stop the moment you start putting up a sound barrier. I really need my sleep."

"Fine, fine! Just drop the subject please." Regina said with the hint of a smile.

"Of course, darling" Cora grinned as she turned back to her paper.

It wasn't even five minutes later when Daniel came walking in the kitchen. "Good morning." He smiled as he walked over to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee.

"Good afternoon, Daniel." Cora grinned when she saw her daughter roll her eyes. "I think we need to have a little talk."

"Mother!"

...

Regina was sitting in her study when her phone rang. She sighed as she pulled her glasses off her nose and stretched over her desk to grab the loudly vibrating device.

"Mayor Mills." She said as she twisted the pen in her hand. There was really no time, she needed to get this paperwork done before tomorrow morning. They were for her replacement seeing that Daniel had insisted she took maternity leave.

"Regina."

Her brown eyes widened when she recognized the voice on the other side of the line. "Emma?"

"Yes, it's me."

"Where are you?!" Regina almost shrieked but then remembered that it was already late and she didn't want to wake Henry up.

"Uhm, that's a funny story. I'm actually at the sheriff's station."

"Why?"

"Listen, could you please refrain from telling Henry I'm back until tomorrow. There is something I need to take care of first."

Regina sighed, this was all very confusing. "Why? What do you need to take care of?"

"I really messed up, Regina. Like really, really messed up." Regina could hear Emma's voice trembling through the phone.

"Alright Emma, I'm coming."

"No, Regina don't. It's fine."

"No it's not, whatever happened in New York will apparently affect Henry greatly. So I'm entitled to know." Regina stopped when she noticed how harsh the words sounded. "Look Emma, I will not let you be alone when you're upset."

There was a soft chuckle from the other side of the line. "Always the mother, aren't you Regina."

"Shut up, it's hormones."

...

"Regina you really didn't have to come all the way down here."

"Nonsense." She said as she sat down on one of the chairs. The sheriff's station was completely empty save for herself and Emma. "If it concerns Henry, nothing is too much."

Emma groaned as she buried the palms of her hands in her eyes. "You're such a good mother." She breathed out. "This is exactly what I wanted for Henry when I gave him up. A good mom who would do anything for him , a stable home. Sure it was in a cursed town, but still. He's happy."

Regina frowned, she had never seen Emma like this. She reached out and placed a comforting hand on Emma's knee. "You're a good mom too, Emma. Sure it's different, but Henry loves you. You made him happy, back when you made the decision to give him the live he deserved, even if it hurt you in the process."

"No you don't understand." Emma said as her green eyes started to water. "I lied to him, I lied to you!"

"About what, dear?" Regina asked softly without a hint of anger in either her voice of her eyes.

"About Henry's father! He's not dead, turned out he's Gold's long lost son!"

Regina couldn't stop her jaw from dropping. "You mean, Gold is Henry's grandfather?"

"Oh god, I hadn't even thought about that." Emma groaned as she let out a loud breath.

There was a moment of tense silence as both women let the news sink in.

"Henry's going to hate me for lying to him." Emma said after a moment.

"Henry's not going to hate you, he's going to be upset for a while, but he won't hate you."

"Do you hate me?" Emma asked softly, so softly it almost sounded childish.

"No I don't hate you Emma, I'm sure you weren't aware you were having sex with Rumplestiltskin's son at that time."

The words caused a small smile to spread across Emma's lips. "No I sure wasn't."

"Well, that's good dear. Now come along, you can stay with me for tonight because I'm sure you don't want to go to your charming parents right now."

Emma shot her a lopsided smile as she stood up. "Thanks."

Regina nodded as she tried to stand up. "Could you maybe.." Regina said softly as she reached out her hands.

"Of course Your Majesty." Emma grinned as she pulled regina up from the chair.

...

Regina and Emma were sitting at the table when Henry came walking into the kitchen. His dark eyes went wide when he noticed his birthmother. "Emma!" He grinned as the blonde stood up and pulled Henry in her arms.

"You're back!"

"I sure am." Emma grinned as she pulled away again.

"Why were you gone so long?" Henry asked innocently.

"Uhm, you know..." Emma started but then stopped, uncertain of what to say. She knew she had to tell Henry the truth, eventually.

"New York is a big city, Henry." Regina spoke up when she noticed Emma couldn't find the right words. "It's takes quite a while to find just one person in there."

Emma shot Regina a smile. "Ehm do you want to go get some breakfast from Granny's, kid? If it's alright with your mom, of course."

Both Henry and Emma turned their heads. Henry poked out his bottom lip, a thing he knew his mother couldn't resist.

"Oh alright, you can go." Regina grinned.

"Thanks mom!" Henry said enthusiastically and then turned to run up the stairs.

Once Henry was gone Regina shot Emma a look. "You k is you need to tell him."

"I know." Emma groaned. "I just want to wait for a little while."

Regina sighed. "I won't tell him anything, but you have to do it soon, Emma."

"I will, I promise."
