A story created by Proximatic / Dan. A crossover between Hyperdimension Neptunia and Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins).

. . .

Having explored the countryside some more, Neptune had found herself in a state of tranquility with the air of Britannia encompassing her.

Taking a short break to attempt to call her younger sister, Nepgear, Neptune was a bit disappointed to have been unanswered.

A duo of fates would cross paths again, as Diane and Neptune were reunited after a few days following Neptune's initial leave.

The two eventually retired to Diane's home from many a decade ago: the terrestrial territory of the Giant Race, Megadoza.

Having made themselves comfortable there, the two dozed off as a stormy night rolled in, and the march of the raindrops commenced. The Goddess made one final attempt to contact Nepgear. . .but it was in vain.

We now continue from where we left off. . .

As the parade of precipitation continued its march from the night before, the Goddess and the Serpent Sin sat upright in their comfortable flat of straw, waiting patiently for the cavalcade of clouds to part and allow for the serenade of the sun to shine through. In their leisure, the two huddled close and watched a long playback of Neptune's video gallery on her device, showing numerous comedic moments, awe-inspiring battles, or otherwise pleasant watches.

"And then this one is when I swooped in and totally decked Magic right in the face with the hilt of my sword, just like our boy! Watch, watch watch. . ."

A static, crunch-esque sword slash boomed through the speakers on Neptune's N-Gear from the impact shown within the video.

"Wowie. . .that's so cool! I never knew you did stuff like this back in your home, Neptune! Can you teach me that stuff someday?"

"Woah, woah, woooah there, princess. . .you're gonna have to drop the war-hammer in that case, because I'm a sword and katana person! If you wanna get some lessons on hammer stuff, go ask Blanc; she's a master of whack-a-mole if you catch my drift!"

"Hhmmm. . .Blanc's the cyan-haired girl, right? She seems very scary, with all the yelling and such. . ."

"Oh, she ain't that bad once you get to know her! You just gotta make sure you don't poke the polar bear, and you'll be totes fine!"

Both Diane and Neptune giggle simultaneously, watching the rest of the video, where Neptune's younger sister and Goddess Candidate of Planeptune, Nepgear, lay the finishing blow to Magic.

"Bam! My li'l sis is such a prodigy!"

"You've never really talked about her before, right? Who is she? Is she just like you, Neptune?"

"Weeell. . .I guess in an aspect or two, you could say that! But my little sister is barely anything like me! She's nerdy, very on-hands, and she's taller than me! Some people tend to mistake her as the bigger sis. . .but that's kinda died down."

"Ehehe. . .I probably would have done the same thing. . .sometimes I make assumptions about people because they're tiny," the Serpent Sin jests, playfully sticking her tongue out and making an equally playful noise in coordination.

"Aw, jeez, not you too! Why must the devs play with my heart like that?! Wait. . .there are no devs here. . .Proxi!"

Oi, be quiet.

BRRRRRRRMMMMHH!

A horn echoed through the hallways of Megadoza, bouncing back and forth in all directions like a ball. Neptune, visibly confused, stands up and puts her N-Gear away.

"Huh? What's goin' on here?"

"Oh, that's the horn to wake everyone up whenever everyone is ready to go out on a huge campaign. It's not really a pleasant sound to wake up to. . .eheh."

"Yeah, I can tell. . .but I dunno if it'd be any worse than Uzume screaming into her megaphone to try and wake someone up."

"I can't really remember when I last heard it. . .but it really does bring back some memories, honestly!"

"Well, let's go and see what the big deal's about. You said it was a bounty hunt, right? That must mean they're about to send some baddies packing!"

Well, firstly, she said "campaign," not "bounty hunt". And secondly, that's thinking of a different way of bounty hunting. . .from a video game. Perhaps it could be the same, but because of the massive differences in this world's traditions and cultures from her world. . .the chances are slim.

"In the rain, though? My clothes are going to get all damp, and I don't like it when that happens. . ."

"Good point! Don't worry, I got an umbrella just for this occasion!"

"Oooh. . .you're really well-equipped for any kind of situation, Neptune! Is it big enough to cover me?"

Neptune goes dotted-eyed for a second. . .she remembers that Diane is quite the tall girl, meaning that this simply, dinky umbrella isn't going to cover even a whole percentage of her body.

". . .oh. Well. . .then. . .uhh. . .we can improvise! Yours truly is great at improvising! I do it on the spot when the scripts I read don't have anything detailed or completed, see," the Goddess bragged, putting her hands on her hips and confidently pumping her chest out.

"Really? I'm sure even Danchō doesn't have that kind of skill. . .he usually relegates that to running the tavern."

"Meli couldn't even comprehend my improvisational skills, let me tell you!"

". . .you did just now, right," Diane asks as she giggles, cooing from the self-contradictory statement.

". . .oh."

Neptune, too, couldn't help but see the silliness in that statement; she did, in fact, tell Diane that Meliodas couldn't comprehend her improvisational skills. After a short moment of silence, a male Giant had peered around the corner into Diane's room, curious to see what the delay was.

"Hey, what's the big hold up, Diane? Did you not hear the horn? You're joining us as a spectator, y'know."

"Aw, but do I have to? You already know I'm not really a fan of this stuff. . ."

"The warrior chief has specifically asked for you to join us and watch."

"Hmmnh. . .well, if it's a request from him, then I guess so. . ."

"Wait, we're going? But you don't even have anything to help in the rain!"

"It's okay! Even though I don't like when it happens, I can hang my clothes out to dry once we come back. I have a spare set of clothes that King made me, so I can wear those!"

"Seems like he thought ahead. . .speaking of which, he's been gone for a while. Did you happen to see him on your way here?"

"Mmh. . .no. . .I don't know where he went."

With a hand placed on her chin, a curious air arises around Neptune. Its focal question: where to the elusive Grizzly Sin could have disappeared? He has managed to evade both Diane and Neptune. He stands out quite a bit; what, with those out-of-the-norm clothes and that green pillow of his. . .not to mention his tendency to levitate unconditionally. It's rather difficult not to pick him out from a crowd.

"I'm sure he'll turn up soon, then!"

After all was said and done, Neptune stood up from her seated position, stretching her arms and legs amidst the rain that continued to stampede across the surface of Megadoza. Diane, too, stood up straight and loosened her body. They're both ready for some action! At least, the watching of some action.

The Goddess and the Giantess walked out of the room, into the greater corridor of Megadoza, and into the main room housing the entrance to the outside world. Many members of the Giant race were waiting there and turned to face the pair after having finally shown themselves.

"Ah, there you are, Diane. We were waiting for you. I'm sure you are already aware that you and your companion are joining us as spectators to our grand campaign?"

"Yep, no worries!"

"Now, as for our mission. . .we've been given a large sum of currency to help a tribe of Humans in a battle against an opposing, larger tribe. A significantly larger tribe, at that. Their numbers have been proving troublesome for this smaller tribe, who have been constantly pestered by the other. Thus, they've requested that we step in and assist them."
"And you're certain that we won't be suddenly backstabbed by them like a few other instances in the past?"
"I assure you, these Humans have vowed to remain loyal to our alignment."

The crowd of Giants conversed amongst themselves before eventually falling silent with the warrior chief raising their hand, gesturing for quietness.

"The location is about a couple dozen miles southeast of here. The tribe of Humans will meet us there."

"Yeah, uh, question!"

Neptune jumps up and down with her hand raised like a student at a school.

"Yes, what is it, er. . .Miss Neptune, was it?"

"Do we reeeally have to do this in the rain? I dunno about you, but I feel like I wouldn't want my clothes to get wet, especially since they take so long to dry off!"

"Regardless of the weather, we Giants uphold our existential goal of battle. Even if it means dampening, freezing, burning, or melting our clothes from nature's tantrums."

"Yeah, well, I probably don't want to have to look at a bunch of giant naked dudes running around. . ."

"Grow some thicker skin, then, girlie," one of the Giants said to her, laughing in the process. Others, too, joined in the laughing.

"Hmph. . ."

"Ahem. . .anyways, if there are no further questions, we are to head out right now."

The warrior chief kneels down in front of the entrance and jumps down, landing on the ground beneath Megadoza's construct. Other Giants had followed suit, and jumped down as well, with only Diane and Neptune remaining inside for a few seconds. Once outside, they began to follow the warrior chief towards their location, with the torrential parade of water dropping onto them like bullets.

Whilst Diane and the other Giants were becoming drenched by the second, Neptune was, thankfully, able to use her umbrella to cover herself from the rapid-fire rain and keep herself dry. For the most part, that is.

For many long minutes, as the entire collective body of Giants and a single Goddess walked through the rain, they could see nature tussling with the watery weaponry. Leaves were doing their best to remain attached to their respective plants and the ground began to turn muddy and puddle-ridden. Even the small rocks weren't safe; little by little, the harsh rain stripped their bodies away.

Neptune's visage seemed rather unenthusiastic. The sound of the rain, the Giants walking, and the wind brushing up against her earlobes. . .it was relaxing, but at the same time, it didn't feel like anything exciting or fascinating was happening at the moment. It's understandable, seeing how the most they are doing is just. . .walking.

"What's up, Neptune? Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm just pretty bored, y'know? I've never really seen this kind of. . .I guess, lifestyle before. I've always heard from Histy that these types of people used to exist when Gamindustri was just starting out, but I didn't think that it would be this long to wait for anything to happen."

Diane looks up to the sky for a moment, watching the gray clouds roll by like a pack of animals migrating. Her eyes shifted, a more neutral expression falling upon her face.

"Yeah. . .I guess so. It's sort of like one of the analogies you made this morning. Watching pudding become colder in the fridge, right? It's not very exciting. . ."

Hearing her analogy be remembered and used by Diane, a bright smile curved on Neptune's face. It seems that someone was paying attention and not remaining a sleepyhead after all!

"Mhm! You got that right!"

. . .

". . .I can understand why you feel this way. After all, we're not where we want to be yet. I don't enjoy these kinds of campaigns. . ."

"Any reason why?"

". . .I. . .don't feel like talking about it."

Neptune curiously tilted her head. As much as she would like for Diane to open up to her - from one friend to another - she doesn't want to put the Giantess' buttons too much. Thus, she chooses to drop the subject entirely.

"So. . .I heard that Giants are really good at using the earth as their power. Is that right?"

"Mhm! We Giants have the power of Creation, meaning the earth is our magical power! We can create big rock structures, golems, spikes, and even huge boulders if we felt like it! We can even manipulate the minerals in the ground to create a whirl of quicksand!"

"That's. . .honestly really cool. I mean, I can kinda do stuff like that with my powers. . .creating stalagmites and all that, but I can't do it to the extent of you people!"

"We are born with an inherent connection to the earth, thus the derivation of our magical power."

"Oooh, that's really neat! Kinda like me, in a way! I'm born from Share Energy, so I carry an intrinsic connection to it!"

"What even is Share Energy?"

"Uh. . .Proxi?"

I'd rather not have to explain.

"I guess we're not getting an explanation then."

"Aww. . ."

"Don't worry about it, Diane! Just think of it like it's the power of wishes! Anything you wish for, desire for. . .all of that good stuff; it's all Share Energy!"

"Really?! So, if I wish for a pig to drop in front of me so I can cook it and eat it. . ."

"Well, I guess if you put it that way, then yeah! Share Energy can even be used to make miracles occur! So you could get that pig after all!"

"Wowie! That's so cool, Neptune! I didn't know you were born with a power like that! Does that mean you're like a genie from those folktales? The ones that grant wishes?"

"Errr. . .not. . .really?"

"We have arrived," the warrior chief says, stopping everyone in their tracks. Below them was a group of Humans — presumably the tribe that was mentioned early — about 75 people strong.

"Warrior chief! It is a pleasure to be fighting alongside you," said one of the tribesmen.
"As it is to be working with you, human," the warrior chief retorted.
"Oh? It seems like you have a new recruit. Or rather, two. . .though one of them isn't a Giant."
"Ah, they are merely spectators. I don't wish to have them fight, as one has expressed the desire not to, and we are not sure what the other is capable of."

The tribesmen were visibly confused and disappointed, staring at the duo of spectators. Neptune awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck, a sweatdrop running down her left cheek.

"They look so powerful, though!"
"The Giant girl especially has a strong magical power!"

"That is quite a shame. The more the merrier, as they say. But I believe your group alone will be sufficient enough to deal with this enemy tribe!"
"So, has your tribe been attacked yet again? It seems to have diminished since we last met."
"Yes, unfortunately. . .we were caught off-guard by a surprise raid. We are all that remain after the attack."
"Barbarians, the lot of them. . ."
"It seems like our last hope to reclaim our land lies with you, chief warrior. I'm sorry to have placed this burden on you."

Even Neptune was a tad shocked from just listening — indicated by her raised eyebrow. Something about what was about to unfold did not feel right. . .her hands are twitching a clench just thinking about it.

"You needn't worry," said the chief warrior, folding his arms over his chest.
"The Giant and Human races coexist together. Whatever we do, we do for your benefit. We will return what they did to you in kind."
"We'll slaughter all of those Humans!" one Giant shouted out, with the rest of them — barring Diane and Neptune — joining in and giving a collaborative cheer. Seems like their mind has been made in that regard.

The Goddess leans in closer to Diane's ear, whispering quietly.

"Is this what you used to do back then? You know. . .going out and killing a bunch of Humans? This seems. . .I dunno, it just seems wrong. . ."

"Well. . .I didn't want to do it, but since I had high expectations placed on me as a prodigy. . .I was basically forced to go along. Even then. . .at most, I killed only a few. . .just to get on their side. . ."

So not even Diane could stomach the slaughtering of numerous Humans on one of these campaigns. It seems as though Neptune was right. Her twitchy clenching became a little more frequent now, knowing that this is such a regular occurrence.

"We've been subjected to their raiding long enough! It's time for us to enact our revenge, years in the making!"

Neptune hops off of Diane's shoulder, umbrella in hand, to stand in front of and between the two groups. She seems a little disappointed.

"C'mon folks, can't we all just talk it out like normal people and try to find some sort of middle ground instead of being a bunch of. . .I dunno, animals? Like, for realsies, if you just show up and say that you want to talk, then it'll work! After all, I know Giants are powerful to do a bunch of crazy things."

She turns back to Diane, giving her a blissful wink to further prove her point of the Giant race being a group of powerful individuals.

"What is she talking about?"
"Who is this girl?"
"Does she even know what we went through?"

"Young lady. . .I ask that you don't step into this matter. It concerns our tribe and our tribe only."

"Look, dude, all I'm saying is that you seriously don't need to resort to violence to get this all solved. Think of it. . .like solving a crime case! You've gotta do it thoughtfully! Get a discussion going! Maybe raise an objection or two, but still, discussions!"

"We have made attempts, but all were in vain. Again, don't involve yourself in matters that do not concern you."

"Alright, whatever you say, pal. . .I'd just think that showing up with a bunch of Giants and then asking them to talk. . .it'd be like showing up to the final boss after doing every side-quest and making yourself super broken, only to spare them! Y'know?"

"You. . .have an odd way of thinking."
"What does it matter?! They'll never talk!"
"Yeah, they're just a bunch of lunatics!"

"I feel like they'd fold if they saw you with a bunch of Giants, honestly! Did they even try hiring one?"

". . .now that I think about it, they did not."
"Who cares?! We need our revenge!"
"How are we going to avenge the deaths of our other tribesmen?!"

Letting out a sigh, Neptune just turns around, walking back over to Diane. Her lack of enthusiasm told all, it seems. The Serpent Sin frowned a bit, squatting down and picking Neptune back up, placing her back on her shoulder.

"You tried your best, okay, Neptune? I know that you don't want to see them fight, just as much as I do. . ."

"Miss Neptune, was it?"

One of the Giants from the group had turned around to speak with Neptune. Seems like he felt a bit sympathetic towards the Goddess' efforts.

"I'm sure you are aware, but we Giants. . .we thrive from the thrill of battle. It is our purpose here in Britannia. To supply the Humans with strength, and to continue to pass the fruit of fighting. We nurture it as we grow."

"I know, I know, I was told that already by Diane this morning. . .but is that really the only way to go about things?"

"For us, it is our livelihood. We build our lives around battle."

"I was trained to do that too, Neptune. It's just the way that the Giants work. . .I'm sorry."

The Planeptune Guardian placed a hand over her Parka Dress zipper, clenching it tightly. There was some sort of. . .hurtful feeling in her chest.

A final roar of thunder blared in the foreground before the clouds eventually started to part, making way for the celestial lamp's return; its shining rays blasting through the gaps in the condensation clumps. From beyond the horizon, a tribesman riding a horse arrives.

"Sir! Warrior chief! The enemy tribe is fast approaching! Are we prepared?"
". . .yes. We're ready. Ready to reclaim what was once ours!"

The tribe let out a collective roar of pride, and the Giants stared at the horizon, hearing the sound of hundreds, maybe thousands of footsteps rushing towards their location.

"They're here. Everyone! Let's go!" the warrior chief said to the group of Giants. They all raised their hands and started running in the direction of the footsteps, ready for battle. Fists clenched and magical power rising within them, there's no turning back now.

Neptune and Diane appear disappointed and remain silent as they witness the chaos of battle erupting among the parties. They refrain from joining in and instead watch with a sense of distaste.

That's when Neptune could feel it once more. The wind. The rushing air softly brushed past her body and fluttered her hair in the opposite direction of her face. However, unlike the previous calming sensation, this time she felt something more foreboding. The silky feeling on her skin now held an ominous quality.

Her body tensed up; goosebumps appeared on her legs, and she was still as a statue. Concerned for her friend, sensing this tense feeling from her, Diane turns her head to look at Neptune, who was staring down at her legs.

"Neptune. . .what's wrong?"

"Huh? O-oh, nothing. . .the wind just felt a little chilly. Especially from up here, y'know?"

"Hmm. . .I guess it is a little colder than usual."

"Kinda like. . .I dunno, I can't really think of anything quippy to say this time. I just. . .feel bad."

"We can always leave if you want. . .I don't want you to be all sad because of it. It's never a good thing when my friends are sad."

With Neptune staring out towards the battlefield, she can hear the noises moving in her ears. The screaming of pain, the upheaval of the earth, the cries of war. It all made her feel. . .overwhelmed.

As one of the opposing tribesmen was flung over from the force of the Giants' power of Creation, he started desperately crawling up to Diane's boot, gasping for air, blood trailing as he dragged himself across the ground.

"N-no. . .more. . .no more. . .aaah!"

His eyes were void of hope and life. Arms shaking, body as stiff as a board. He eventually falls flat onto the ground, passing away from extremely quick blood loss. Neptune watched as the battle only continued to increase the number of bodies on the field. Her frown. . .it only got more depressed.

Even the Giants, renowned for their unmatched strength and earthly magical powers, were starting to fall. Being pelted by arrows laced with extremely deadly and fast-working poison is certainly a way to deal with them.

"No. . .!"

"Nnmh. . ."

". . .more. . .!"

". . .please. . .!"

The sound of the desperate tribesman haunted Neptune's mind, and as the defeated cries of multiple other tribesmen flooded her ears, she placed both of her hands to her head. Tightly pressing both palms against her temples, she started quaking a bit, trying to remain composed.

"N-Neptune?"

"I can't let this continue!"

Finally fed up with everything unfolding in front of her, Neptune leaps forward from Diane's shoulder — which itself caused a bit of kickback for Diane — and rose high into the sky, covering herself with the sunlight of the lamp.

Eventually, she comes crashing down in the center of the battlefield, creating a large crater and pushing everyone around her away. The power of the impact caused everyone to drop what they were doing and give their attention to the Goddess.

"Neptune. . .!"

"Would all of you please. . .just stop!"

Her voice pierced the skies, echoing through the earth's chamber as everyone was a bit shocked by her resolve.

"What is it with you people and thinking that killing each other is going to solve all of your problems. . .? Does it seriously have to be about who the top dog is? Can't you just. . .make peace?!"

The silence filling the air spoke volumes. But then, the warrior chief stepped forward, looking down at Neptune with an expression more disappointed than upset.

"Miss Neptune. . .you don't seem to understand. We live to battle. We always see to it that our issues are resolved through the—."

"It's not about whether or not you live to fight, or that you die with honor, or whatever! You gotta start realizing that. . .maybe what you're doing isn't really that good, y'know?! It just sounds like you haven't really thought of it that way!

You've never slowed your roll to think of the possibility. . .that you're hurting others indirectly? Every tribesman you kill. . .every Holy Knight. . .every Giant, even. . .you could be taking away something that someone loved! You could be taking away a son, a father, a brother, a husband, whatever the case!

How come you don't look at the different angles!? I. . .it's just wrong!"

Watching from afar, Diane placed a hand over her chest, hearing Neptune speak her mind to the warrior chief with little hesitation. She worried for the poor Goddess. . .but even she wasn't able to take a step forward.

"I-I don't. . ."

The warrior chief fell silent for a few moments, shifting his eyes left and right every few seconds, fearing the possible wrath of the Guardian Goddess.

"We. . .are hired by others. We. . .we do not ever consider those circumstances. . ."

"So. . .you don't even consider the possibility that what you're doing is hurting other people's livelihoods. . .so you try to make it look like it's a good thing by saying that it's the Giants' purpose to battle?"

Her expression wavered for a moment. . .lowering her arm a bit in retreat as she turned around, peering at the crowd she had gathered around her. Their faces, shocked that Neptune stood up to the warrior chief, and challenged their ideals.

". . .could you just. . .do this for me once? Talk to them. . .talk to them so that you don't have to fight anymore. . .

. . .I don't want to see anyone else get hurt. . .it. . .hurts me too."

"Y-yes. . .ma'am."

Turning around in emotional silence, Neptune slowly moves her hands into her Parka Dress pocket and walks back over to Diane, keeping her head down to hide her face. She. . .didn't know what else to say to everyone beyond that.

"Diane. . .I'm leaving now. You can follow me if you want. . .or you can stay here with them. I just. . .want to find someplace else so I can have fun. Y'know. . .not to escape reality, but to try and be me."

Diane, respecting her partner's desire to be elsewhere, knelt down and gently lifted her into the air, holding her with both hands and walking away from the tribesmen and Giants.

"Well, I guess this is. . .a bit of a goodbye, everyone. I'll take care of her, okay?"

"Be safe, Lady Diane," the warrior chief said in a calm voice.

A few minutes had passed since Diane and Neptune parted from the rest of the Giants and the tribesmen. The sky around them was stained with scattered groups of clouds, blocking the sun and delivering a more moody environment.

Sitting in Diane's palms, Neptune was curled into a more fetal position as she reconciles with herself, gently leaning back and forth at times. Diane, on the other hand, cautiously watched her Goddess partner, hoping that she calms down and returns to her normal, cheerful self soon enough.

". . .I'm. . .I'm sorry about that, Diane, I. . .I didn't. . ."

Neptune paused as she tried formulating her thoughts. . .that moment of emotional outburst, it didn't feel like herself. It's as though a little doppelgänger inside of her had grabbed hold of her heart and took matters into their own hands.

"It didn't feel like me. . .I-I'm not one to really. . .do that stuff."

"It's okay, Neptune. . .I know you just wanted them to stop fighting. I probably would have done the same if I wasn't so used to seeing this. . ."

"Isn't it just better if all of them become friends. . .? So they can stop fighting each other over. . .arbitrary tribal differences. . .? They could have tea together. . .laugh and have fun together. . .!"

"Just relax, okay? It's. . .it's a thing of the past now. I'm sure they took what you said seriously. . .so just think positively!"

". . .I know, I know. Gotta live up to the title of "Seriousness Breaker", after all. . ."

The Goddess took a few deep breaths to relax herself. Bringing herself back down to earth. It's better to try and move on to a more positive mindset than to stay stuck in a negative one, especially for someone like Neptune.

"I'm. . .glad you decided to come with me. It's like you're the Noire of this world. Wait, no, wrong analogy. . .you're like the Nepgear of this world! Yeah, that one works!"

"So. . .you see me as some sort of younger sister?"

"No, no, that's not what I meant! I was saying something like. . .you're really super kind to me and stuff, and you're always trying to make me feel better!"

"Eheh. . .you're a friend, and I want to make my friends happy!"

Amidst their conversation, there was something flying about in the air. It looked to be something rectangular, yet somewhat tattered at the same time. Like a cloth. . .or a torn piece of paper.

The object carefully floated down in front of them, and without warning, landed right on Neptune's head. Curious as to what had perched on top of her, the Goddess feels around and. . .it is indeed a piece of paper!

Taking the paper off of her head and looking at it, Neptune raises an eyebrow. . .something about this is very. . .interesting.

"Hey, Diane? Uh. . .I think we've been invited to something."

"Huh? Invited?"

"Yeah. . .the Vaizel Fighting Festival."

End of Chapter 13!

To be continued. . .
