I'm really pushing these out. I want to get this story finished. Sorry about what I've done to Oak's character. Don't hate me.
"I'm sending a new trainer to Viridian with Leaf's cheri berry potion." Green's grandfather stated through a small monitor. "You can expect her to have a quick recovery if she takes it regularly for the next four weeks. Humans were not intended to withstand injuries from pokemon attacks, especially of electric types. She'll regain her strength but, from what you've described, her scars will never heal."
I watched Green's long distance conversation just out of eyesight from the caller's field of view. I had made a cup of peach oolong tea from Green's private tea stash. He really liked the fancier stuff but it all tasted the same to me.
"Thanks gramps." Green replied solemnly.
"You are harboring a criminal. Word is starting to spread on Giovanni's murder and soon the authorities will recognize that a Luxray's thunderfang was the cause of death. This region of Kanto is close knit and Luxrays are quite rare. Trainers everywhere will assume Leaf's guilt. I suggest you turn her in now and keep your hands clean of all this." Green's brow furrowed at Professor Oak's suggestion, "You have a lot ahead of you in your future as both a gym leader and a Pokemon professor. /I'd hate to see this incident ruin your life."
"I'm not going to abandon her. You and I both know what will happen to Lulu if she is found guilty. She'll be sent to death. Leaf wouldn't stand for it."
"They must pay for their wrong doings." Oak shrugged, "It's a shame. To be honest, I always fantasized that you two would be together, get married, and have children. Your life style, well, is something I find hard to accept. For some time I thought a relationship with Leaf would occur. Had she been your wife, I'd be just as enthusiastic as you are in keeping her hidden. This, however, is not the case. Please recognize that you are not socially obligated to protect her. She's not your sister, nor is she your wife."
Green turned and looked at me apologetically, "Gramps, you don't understand. Despite Red's sex and Leaf's blood, I consider them my lover and my sister. I've never been happier. Don't regard my personal relationships so poorly."
Oak let out a heavy sigh, "Don't be offended. I don't care to open this topic again." He cut his conversation short, "I'll send my new trainer, Gold, on his way to your home. I've made sure to leave him ignorant to the specifics of your particular situation. Expect him before nightfall. Have a good day."
Oak's image disappeared in the small monitor. It's hard to believe that before my win on the Indigo Plateau, Professor Oak favored me more than his own grandson. Since we started dating, he's been cold to us both. "That seemed like a cheerful conversation," I mentioned with mock enthusiasm.
"He's from a different time, he doesn't understand." His usual excuses for the old man got on my nerves, "but he does have a point."
"What? You don't want to be my gay fuck buddy anymore?" I asked knowing full well that this wasn't the point he was referring to. I just wanted to be an asshole.
He gave me a quick frown but, not taking my bait, he said, "about Leaf. We'll all end up in prison if the authorities discover that we are hiding her here."
"So what are you suggesting? Want me to kick her to the curb? Perhaps we should call the fucking cops right now," I raised my voice and angerly griped the mug holding my tea.
"I'm not saying we give her to the police but she can't be here."
"So we're kicking her to the curb, then," I spat incredulously.
"What can we fucking do? The pokemon is guilty! Lulu shouldn't have killed Giovanni even after he attacked Leaf!"
I was getting pissed.
Green looked at me assertively, as if attempting to dare me into continuing our subject. He didn't think I had the balls to disagree.
"Even if Leaf had not been attacked, Giovanni would have been killed." I was shaking with anger and my voice started to raise in pitch, "She would have killed him with her own hands at another time. If she didn't, I WOULD HAVE KILLED HIM! I WOULDN'T FUCKING HESITATE TO GIVE THAT MOTHER FUCKER WHAT HE DESERVES!"
Green paused, looking confused and frightened. I spilled the beans.
"He's the guy who fucked me! When we were 14, he raped me in his fucking office after I lost to him in battle. He's an evil, sadistic criminal. Believe it when I say that I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE WORST OF IT!" I screamed these words and threw the mug at the wall, Green jumped as the ceramic shattered. "Leaf had it much worse than I did! He fucked her when she was only four goddamned years old. He would fuck, beat, and molest her repeatedly even though he was her fucking father. HER GOD-DAMNED FATHER! He orchestrated the murder of her mother after she tried removing herself and Leaf from his presence. She was expected to live with that monster! That's why she ran away into Viridian forest at such a young age. I'm being honest, Green. If Lulu didn't kill him that night then I would. I wouldn't hesitate to murder him and make him suffer for all of the bullshit he put her through. The mother fucker deserved it!"
Green never broke his emerald green eyes from mine. His emotionaless gaze made me uneasy. I became more uneasy when I heard Brock clearing his throat behind me. His form slowly appeared from behind the wall of the hallway. "I couldn't help but eavesdrop on your argument, my apologies."
Embarrassed, I turned and took the broom and dustpan from the cleaning closet. "She doesn't want anyone to know," I said solemnly. I wasn't one to tell secrets.
"I understand," Brock said trying to hide the sadness in his voice. "I had no idea how much she has suffered. It's incredible."
Green sat at the kitchen table with his arms crossed against his chest looking downward.
"You are right, Red. We can't leave her on her own. You are right too," Brock motioned to Green, "keeping her here will only backfire for us. Perhaps, we can can find a solution."
"Are you suggesting we keep her in hiding? How long can we do that?" Green asked.
"Not too long. We can find her a safe place to stay while we establish her defense. She also needs time for her wounds to heal. I know a few lawyers who might be willing to help. She might win this case, Lulu was reacting in self defense and in defense of her trainer. Also, that Pokemon did not only save Leaf but she saved Red and me as well."
I volunteered, "I can take her to the mountain."
"If you get caught, you'll be in just as much trouble as Leaf," Brock warned.
"I've got nothing really important to lose. I'm no gym leader, not even champion anymore."
Green looked at me and bit his lip, "I don't really like the idea but that should give us enough time to establish her defense," Green added, "I still don't think she has much of a shot but we can claim self defense."
"Will she agree?" asked Brock.
"She doesn't have much of a choice." Green stated, "This is the only way we can save Lulu."
oooo
That night, Green crawled into bed sometime after me. Knowing I had yet drifted off to sleep, he took me in his arms and held me tightly.
I don't know why, but he cried.
