"Did you hear?" Clumped together in the classic cluster of cheerleaders at the lunch table - not a scrap of food in sight - Nicole passed on the latest batch of rumors she heard, this time from some freshman in the girl's bathroom last period.
"No, what?" Red demanded, always eager to hear the juiciest goings-ons of the school.
No more buzzy than usual, the cafeteria was the only place it was socially acceptable to share news between cliques, which was exactly what happened when Craig, Tweek, Token, Clyde, and Jimmy filled the empty spaces around the table. Though they had slipped into various different directions, those guys were still tight. "Kenny M-M-Mc- Kenny McCor- K-K-Kenny McCormick hoo-hooked up with the n-new k-kid last night!"
"No way." Bebe, whom still had the notion that she could get Hunter to 'cross sides', refused to believe it.
"Pft, typical Kenny." Heidi scoffed.
"Damn, I wonder which one of those guy's Hunter's going to fuck next?" Red began to ponder the possibility of a threesome between Kyle, Kenny, and Hunter. She didn't see what made that new guy so appealing (other than being new), but it was undeniable that Kenny was a total hottie, and Kyle was pretty good-looking himself. She might have thought to include Stan, but he was too hung-up on Wendy, and no one in their right mind would ever look twice at Cartman.
"How do you know that's true?" Nicole had to wonder how this rumor came to be, when both boys had always been pretty tight friends. At least with Kyle they had been seen coming out of the closet together.
It was Butters that supplied the answer to that. Wandering over to see what everyone else was talking about, he caught enough of the conversation to figure out who it was about. "When they got on the bus today, Hunter came with Kenny from the direction of his place, and not from where he normally lives."
And that was all the answer anyone required.
But to get the rest of the attention off of himself for the cheating scandal, Clyde volunteered what information Craig had on the matter. "Craig was the first person to talk to Kenny today. Tell them what happened on the bus."
While he was not inclined to do any favors for that sister-kissing asshole Cylde at the moment, it was true that he could shed more light on the subject. "When I asked Kenny how it was," It was no secret that Craig hadn't been able to watch the game on TV because he had been grounded for getting detention again, and anyways, it was just cooler to hear an account from someone that had actually been there in person, so everyone was still following. "I noticed that they looked at each other-"
"They looked at each other?" Bebe was still skeptical about it. "That doesn't mean anything."
Seriously Bebe? Craig scowled at her interrupting him but didn't address it otherwise. "It looked like they had a secret, like Kenny wasn't sure if he could say it or not." He had also noticed something else, and was frankly surprised that more people didn't see it straight away like he had. "Plus Hunter is wearing Kenny's clothes."
It was true that Kenny had let Hunter borrow something a little more comfortable to sleep in, and it was truer still that they had spent so much time in his room that morning that she barely had time to bind up her chest before they had to be on the bus, but neither expected anyone else to realize that. And unfortunately for them, Craig wasn't the only one - ever one to notice details, Butters saw it too. "Those where the same pajama pants that Kenny wore on the first day of school." He knew because they had been torn at the knee when Kenny had almost got caught hoping the back fence after second period.
With all these 'facts', it became an unanimous truth amongst the rest of the student body that Kenny and Hunter were indeed fucking each other, but the question that remained in some minds was if they weren't dating...
"Do you think they're dating?" It was Heidi that voiced that collective opinion, since she knew as well as anyone at that table that Kenny was rather particular about who got to go over to his house. "Stan and Kyle could have just gone as a cover so no one would find out." It have been just like Kyle to help out a friend like that...
But there was one fundamental issue here, and Token saw it almost straight away. "Kenny doesn't date. He hasn't actually gone on a date since the seventh grade."
Also there was the matter of Hunter being a dude. Sure, no one had any doubts that Kenny would fuck another guy since he himself was the kind of man that would fuck just about anything with a hole, but none of them could say with any level of certainty that he would be in a relationship with another male. It was hard enough to imagine, even if Hunter had been a girl...
[South Park]
Seated out back near where the smokers gathered snow or shine, bodies huddled together against the elements, two teens were making a different kind of use out of their lunch break. At first there had some objections about being dragged off in such a secretive manner, coupled with shock and venom that still burned, but she made it sound important, and in all actuality, a large part of him still wanted to see her.
"What do you want Wendy?" Stan crossed his arms, trying his best to look indifferent when really he just wanted to curl up and die.
It had taken a lot to bring herself here so she could tell him in person, so there was no backing down. "I didn't want it to happen that way Stan..." Even with her determination at full force, it wasn't easy to find the words to tell him what she had come back to say. "I never wanted any of this."
Always so calculated and in control, Stan was unnerved to hear Wendy's voice trembling, some hidden fear in the midst of realizing itself. How he longed to reach out to her, to offer whatever comfort he could, but he couldn't now, not when it felt so strained and awkward. Thinking of their last encounter, he could feel a numb sort of pain edging in around the corners of his heart. "Well it happened." His voice sounded frostier than the chill blowing at their backs. "Why are you here?"
He never was the guy to make it easy for her, but that was probably because of how much she loved him... "I really am sorry, but if you only knew my side, then maybe you would understand-"
"Ha," There was no mirth in his throat, only bitterness and raw hurt, "what could you have to say that possibly make it ok for you to rip out my heart?"
Wendy had had a vision for her life, and sneaking back on school grounds in secret while she was supposedly off helping a family member was not a part of it, nor was getting pregnant in high school. Once upon a time, her aspirations had been great, but now all hope of an honest path had been tainted. Shaking from deep within her core, her eyes couldn't quite meet Stan's. "Stan, I need you." She hadn't meant it to be cruel, to inspire the remnants of hope, but the minute the words left her lips, she knew that that was exactly what he had heard. "I'm scared, and for the first time, I don't know what to do! Stan, I'm pregnant."
Unable to express just how frightened she was at the prospect herself, Wendy watched as he broke at the announcement, his jaw dropping, heart forgetting to beat, mind reeling. For moment the girl thought that he was going to yell at her or hurl out accusations, but instead he just hurled. It had been a long time since she'd seen him puke last, and longer still if you deducted all the times he had gotten drunk.
Shoulders trembling as another wave of emotional nausea rose up in his throat, sticking somewhere around his Adam's apple, Stan couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Shut the fuck up..."
Wendy noticed that a lot of his lunch had ended up back on her shoes, and some of it on the side of her leg, which set off a chain-reaction of vomit. Ordinarily her stomach was a lot stronger than that. "Urgh, it's like I've never seen you puke before..."
As if that settled the matter (and in a way it did), Stan realized that this meant that he was going to be a father... Fuck, he thought there would still be time before he had to bite that particular bullet...
About to say something, the bell rang at that exact instant. Stan and Wendy looked at each other for a moment, both knowing exactly what was running in the other's mind; he wanted to stay there and talk about her staying, even moving in with him until he could get a job and save up enough for them to get a house and do the whole family thing (just like she was afraid of), whereas she wanted him to go to class. Baby or not, school was still a high priority for Wendy, even if she wasn't as active in clubs and activities. Besides, they could always have this talk later, when they didn't have to hunch together outside, afraid that they would be overheard.
"I'll come by your house after school and we can talk then." Standing up, she turned around to leave, "Oh, and if anyone asks, I wasn't here..."
Watching her walk away as he dragged himself back to the building under her orders - every last inch of him in complete shock - he wondered if she really had been there...
So that just happened. But I wonder, will she tell him that he might not be the father? Or worse, will she tell Cartman at all? A slight rewrite from my original idea, and so much better for it. And before anyone asks (ha), Wendy probably went to the school in order to make sure that she could see Stan, since she would probably figure that he would ignore any text asking him to meet up. As for the first part of the chapter, I would bet that they're so starved for a good story, they all are willing to go out on a limb in their beliefs. I think I worded that badly, so to say it another way, something along the lines of suspended belief.
I do not own South Park, that's all on Matt and Trey, but I do own Hunter and the rest of the Bloodworth clan!
