A/N: Sorry for the very long delay with this story. I had a really tough year and just haven't been into figuring out how to tie up this story. I promise to work on this one until it's done - one or two more chapters. Thanks for sticking with it!

"I can't believe you went to Vegas!" Rory cried disappointedly.

"You went to Stars Hollow!"

"Stars Hollow is a little bit closer. Plus I was going to think about our future and how we'll work together. I was trying to take your proposal seriously. You went to play."

Logan lost his cool, "Maybe I went to deal with my feelings when I thought the woman I love would be excited about my proposal, not need to run away from me."

"Logan, you know I love you. But you aren't just asking me to marry you. You're asking me to move to the other side of the country. You know how I feel about my relationship with Wendy. You know I'm close with my family and you know how badly I wanted the Reston Fellowship at the Times. You're asking me to give that all up."

"Ace, if you're with me you will have enough money to come back to visit your family as often as you want, or have them come out to see us. And marrying into the Huntzberger family will open more doors to you than that fellowship ever could."

"You said no?" Lorelai gasped.

"He wanted me to move to California, I asked him to stay so we could be close to you and Wendy and I could do the fellowship, I mean it was just for one year. But he wouldn't give up his job, he didn't want to do long distance, it was all about what he wanted," Rory explained as she paced in the living room.

"Oh, Sweets."

"No matter what option, alternative, compromise, or anything I offered, he wouldn't budge. How can I plan a life with someone who is so 'my way or the highway'? We need to both be happy with our plans, right? I'm not asking for too much, am I?"

"No, you're not asking for too much. A couple should work together, not one person bending to what the other wants. If he really wanted you, if he really loved you, there would be room for compromise. Look, you just finished school, you've only had three boyfriends and you have your whole life ahead of you. Just focus on the New York Times for this year and enjoy your twenties." Lorelai said in a calming voice. She patted the couch beside her to encourage Rory to join her.

"Thanks, Mom. I'm going to have to stay with you until I find my own place in New York, I don't think I'll be staying at Logan's anymore," she sighed and flopped down onto the couch beside her Mom.

"Of course, you know this will always be your home."

"So what did the doctor say?" Rory asked, desperate to change the subject.

"It's official. You're getting another sibling! Your mother is insane."

"You're not insane"

"Do you know how old I am? Having a baby at this age is not common, and soon I will have a house with three little kids. It's a lot. Plus I did the kid thing already."

"You have Luke, and he's an amazing father. But if you want to be done with this, get your tubes tied after this one."

"Oh no no, my dear. I will go through labour twice for our family, Luke can get the operation to stop the insanity."

"You're going to give my sibling a complex if you keep talking like this. You know Mom, if you're not happy about being pregnant there are options, you're not that far along."

"Oh Kid, no! That's not what I'm saying. I love you, Wendy and Danny. You guys and Luke are my everything. It's just we really took the time to plan the last pregnancy. We were mindful of Wendy and how she was doing. And this one was a total surprise."

"Well just think about how happy Sookie will be. You both will experience your unplanned pregnancies at the same time."

"Oh my god, you're right! Sookie is finally getting excited about her pregnancy but Jackson said she's still mad at him, maybe if tell her about this Jackson will finally be completely out of the doghouse."

Two Months Later

Luke was in the Diner as the breakfast rush was thinning out. The bell over the door jingled and Jess walked in.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Luke smiled.

"With a greeting like that, how have you not been named Mr. Congeniality yet?"

Luke shook his head at the fact at how similar Jess and Lorelai were. He was thankful that in the past few years they have become closer. He loved that Jess was staying in his life without Luke having to beg. The fact that Jess chose to pop in for a visit just made Luke so happy. Although he didn't let on to Jess too much, so he didn't embarrass him.

"I just wasn't expecting you. But I'm glad you're here. Are you staying in town for a while?"

"I might be, I need to talk to you."

"Is everything okay?" Luke's voice was full of concern.

Jess smiled. It was nice to have someone who worried about him. He knew his Mom loved him, but he always felt like he needed to take care of her. With Luke he felt protected, and although he never said it, he was sure that having Luke in his life was the best thing for him. "Yeah, everything is okay. But can we talk in the back?"

Luke headed to the storage room with Jess in toe. They sat on some boxes.

"So? What's up?"

Jess cleared his throat and started, "So I have an opportunity to expand Truncheon."

"Expand?"

"Yeah. See last time I was in Stars Hollow I went to KC's Bar and I had a long talk with KC. He wants to retire, he's done slinging drinks. I went back to talk to the guys about it because I knew they wanted to expand, we've been doing really well lately."

"That's great," Luke nodded.

"I want to become a partner. I want to run the new location. The problem is I can't get a loan. The banks don't have much respect for making it on your own. I'm an 'undesirable risk' among other things I guess." Jess dropped his head for a moment and then made eye contact again. "I need your help. Would you be willing to cosign a loan?"

"Jess."

"Don't answer right away. Talk to Lorelai, of course. I'll show you my drawings for what I'm thinking and my business plan. I've talked to Tom about the work that would need to be done, I have everything figured out. Please just say you will think about it."

"Of course I'm going to think about it," Luke insisted. "I know I've told you this before, but I'll say it again. I'm really proud of you. Look at what you've done. Wrote a book and found a way to not only get it published but you've made a career for yourself doing what you love. Why don't you come to the house for dinner tonight and once the kids stop crawling all over you we can talk about the details with Lorelai."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

Jess exhaled a huge breath he didn't realize he was holding, "Thank you. Seriously."

Luke smiled, "We're family. Oh, and that reminds me."

"I'll go see Mom before heading to your place," Jess rolled his eyes.

Luke laughed, "Good. But that's not what I was going to say. I'm actually glad you are here in person because I was going to call and tell you the news."

"I'm intrigued."

"Lorelai and I went to the doctor today and we are officially starting to tell people. She's three months pregnant. I'm going to be a Dad again."

Jess broke out into a huge smile, "Congratulations!" he reached out and then pulled Luke to his feet and into a hug. "I'm really happy for you. You're livin' the dream."

Luke chuckled, "The dream?"

As they pulled apart and awkwardly smiled at each other Jess explained. "Come on Dude, Liz always talked about how you wanted a family like the one you two grew up in. You know, before your Mom got sick. And let's be honest if anyone was born to be a Dad, it's you!"

"What?!"

"Come on, you were basically Rory's Dad from the moment you met. You have been a better parent to me than Liz or Jimmy could ever dream of, you chose to raise Wendy with no question or hesitation and Danny thinks you're Superman."

"I keep trying to steer him to Batman," Luke joked. "Better costume and a really cool car."

Jess nodded as they walked back into the diner, "I'll get him some Batman comics. So I'll go pop in at Mom's and then come by your place around six?"

"Sounds good."
